I tested a few ways to try and get the Dalaran quest again this year and couldn't. Til i logged on a toon that did Not do it last year, it seems Blizz just forgot to reset it for people to do it again to get the 2nd pet this year. Hopefully they will fix it later.

Year 2010 event had several issues that will hopefully be fixed. If not, keep this in mind:

Start doing School of Hard Knocks early. Battlegrounds are chaotic and you may end up waiting over 2 hours in queue (not sure how they can solve it, but this is a problem) and still being unable to complete the objective. Or even worse: complete the objective and realise that your orphan is not out, because you were killed meanwhile (really annoying problem that should be solved).
Whistles have duration of 7 days and can call your orphan even after the event ends, but this is of little practical use. It's confusing to keep these things out of sync. Orphans allow you to do their quests, but at least in Dalaran's case the Matron disappears when the event ends and you can't return your orphan. Blizz should make those NPCs permanent or despawn whistles and orphans at event's end too.
People who completed Dalaran orphan quest last year were not able to do it this year.
Achievements are worded "with your orphan out". That wording and ability to summon orphans past event's end lead to a conclusion that you can still complete them. I tried and it didn't work with School of Hard Knocks and Hail To The King, Baby, so it's probably impossible with other achievements too. They should also say "during Chilren's Week" or despawn whistles and orphans at event's end.

This is all I know about it. I did the Northrend quest chain 2 years ago and got the Curious Oracle Hatchling. I did it last year and didn't get a pet. I then did it this morning and got the Curious Wolvar Pup. I do know that you have to do the quest chain for the specific pet that you want. I hope this helps.

Does anyone know if you can only get 1 pet reward per year? Like..for example I missed the Burning crusade pet rewards, and the 2011 childrens week as well. Is it impossible for me to catch up in 2012?

In Mists of Pandaria pets will be shared between all characters on the same account. Therefore I suggest that if you don't have all the Children's Week pets that you get different ones on each of your characters, that way when they are shared you will have all pets on all characters.

2011 was my first year of doing the children's week achieves and for some reason i was able to get two pets from the matron in org and outlands.is this normal? i was alos able to get both the oracle orphan and wolvar orphan that same week.some clarity on this would be greatly appreciated! :3

For Pet Collectors and Traders:

All of the pets from the Orgrimmar/Stormwind, and Shattrath orphanages are cageable. The Dalaran pets are not.

If you are trying to optimize your number of pets added, you can now do this in Org, Shat and Dalaran. So you really can pick up a lot of pets if you use multiple toons and do all three locations. Happy Hunting!

As of right now, if you were to do this World Event on only one character and were going for the pets, it would take you a good four years to get all of them if you don't hop on different characters and do the orphan quests.

So, in conclusion, it can take you 1-4 years to get it, 1 being the one time you went for all the pets, 4 being for having only one character get the pets.

There doesn't seem to be an updated/recent comment with the step by step for this event, so allow me. Also, my apologies ahead of time for broken tags. I fought with them several times but WoWhead is being a royal butthole at the moment and they don't want to work. Still, if you hover over them, it will still link you to the correct quest link.

I currently play Horde, thus I started with the Orgrimmar Orphanage. 孤儿监护员巴特维尔 is the start of the quest line and she can be found at the coords 57.95, 57.62, right in front of the Orgrimmar Orphanage in The Drag. She gave me the quest titled, of course, Children's Week and it gave me 兽人孤儿哨.

Use the whistle and the Orc orphan then gives you three quests: 乘坐火箭车, 女妖之王 and 逝去的酋长.

For Ridin' the Rocketway, your in game quest helper will tell you to go to the south end ramp. ~~This is WRONG.~~ You need to head just BARELY North East of Gallywix Pleasure Palace to the Terminus there. Get out your orphan, click the green arrow on the rocket and enjoy the ride. You'll turn in the quest to the orphan when the ride is over.

EDIT: Apparently, the rocket may be on any of the terminals throughout Azshara. You just have to go from one to the next until you find it.

For The Banshee Queen, all you need to do is go to Under City, head to the Throne room and get out your orphan. It's a pretty easy quest.

For The Fallen Chieftain, simply head to Mulgore. Red Rocks is the utmost North East corner of the map. Whistle for your orphan and complete the quest. Once you complete the initial three quests, your orphan will give you two more quests: 我们去放风筝 and 你吃一口，我吃一口…….

Both of these are pretty simple and take you back to Orgrimmar to complete.The Cold of Cone shop is in The Goblin Slums. Blax Bottlerocket is pushing his toy cart up the main road of the drag and usually can be found directly in front of the orphanage.

After completing these two quests, your Orc Orphan will give you one final quest; 部落孤儿的看护者. This the the quest that you'll choose your pets from. After going back to Blax Bottlerocket, you will have the option of choosing between 6 items: 小猪项圈 (Mr. Wiggles), 乌龟盒 (Speedy), 老鼠笼 (Whiskers), 蜗牛壳 (Scooter the Snail), 魔法宠物饼干 (x25) or 坏老头的贿赂 (A whopping 5 gold). You'll turn this final quest into 孤儿监护员巴特维尔.

Now, before I completed any of my Org orphan's quests, I immediately went to Dalaran to find out, since other comments and posts here seemed to go back and forth on the subject, if I could indeed pick up orphans in the other cities this year, as well.

You can ABSOLUTELY, in one year, have more than one orphan at a time.

In Dalaran, if you head to the center statue at The Eventide, 孤儿监护员艾蕊娅 will be there with a choice between two quests: 狼獾人孤儿科科 or 神谕者孤儿鲁鲁. You may only choose one per year to do. As I already did the Oracle chain last year, I chose the Wolvar, thus this walk-through won't have the Oracle orphan quest chain (unless I get around to adding it later).

After picking up your Wolvar, blow the whistle and then click on the Matron again. She'll basically just tell you that hey, you can take care of ONE of these orphans, but not both. Then the orphan quests become available.
The first quest is just a short one in which the Wolvar asks you to take him to hunt. Click okay and this opens up the first three quests.

Quest one: 熊怪的家园. Take your orphan to Grizzlemaw in Grizzly Hills.

Quest two: 青铜巨龙圣地. Take your orphan to the coords 71.5, 37.3 just a skip Northwest of Wintergarde Keep in Dragonblight.

Quest three: 伙伴！. This quest is also in Dragonblight. Take your little Wolvar to about 45,61 to 45-64, just a short ways above Moa'ki Harbor.

Completion of these three will open two more.

Quest four: 巨龙女王 will take you back to Dragonblight, this time to Wyrmrest Temple so your orphan can meet Alexstrasza the Life-Binder.

Quest five: 强大的赫米特·奈辛瓦里 sends you off to Sholazar Basin to see Hemet Nesingwary at the Nesingwary Base Camp.

After completing those two, your Wolvar will give you the quest that takes you back to Dalaran. 前往奇妙玩具店的旅行. Go to the toy shop in Dalaran and buy your Wolvar a paper zeppelin. Throw the zeppelin to your pet, he will run and chase it and bring it back. Then you can turn the quest in.

Finally, you will get the quest 返回孤儿院. Once you go back to the Matron Aria, you will turn this quest in and return your orphan to her.

NOTE: Do not panic when you turn the final quest in to the Matron and she only gives you 9 gold and and says goodbye. Your wolvar pet will be sent to you by mail and should immediately show up.

Finally, Shattrath!

You'll find 孤儿院长莫希 in Lower City. Coords are 75.04, 47.66. She will give you the Blood Elf or Draenei whistle. Clearly, as I mentioned, I play Horde, so I will be giving you the run down of the Blood Elf orphan's quests.

The first quest is just your new orphan telling you how excited she is to see places. Once you complete it, like the other orphans, she'll give you three quests to do.

Quest one: 哈克乌和蘑菇人 Take your orphan to Sporeggar in Zangarmarsh. Whistle for her and then talk to Hch'uu. Quest done.

Quest two: 参观黑暗之门 This quest is pretty self-explanatory and the glitches from last year seem to be fixed. You whistle while standing in front of the portal, and Boom. Done.

Quest three: 参观元素王座 This one is also easy. Take the orphan to Nagrand to the Throne of Elements on your map. Whistle for her, and you'll be able to turn in the quest to 元素师沙尔瓦克.

The next two quests that open are:

Quest four: 等我长大了…… This one, you head off to Silvermoon, run on down to the Walk of Elders, and call your orphan. She'll run around talking to the Chieftains and playing air guitar for a minute, then the quest will be complete.

Quest five: 参观时光之穴 Fly to Tanaris in Kalimdor and head east to the Caverns of Time. When you go in, fly until you reach the Quartermaster 艾鲁尔米 and buy her a toy dragon. Fly on a little further and stand in front of the dragon 扎拉多姆. Make sure your orphan is out for both.

The final quest is 返回孤儿院. Once again, this is the quest that will allow you to choose another of the pets that gives you credit towards 资深保姆. You will then be able to choose between 蛋蛋的蛋, 小象项圈 (Peanut), 贪睡的威利, 长腿 or 魔法宠物饼干 (x25).

KEEP IN MIND, In order to finish the achievement 资深保姆, you need to collect Egbert, Peanut AND Willy and you can only choose one per year. Buying them on the Auction House does NOT award this achievement and you can only get it by visiting the Shattrath Orphan Matron once a year for three years and picking a different pet each year.

Did all chains on 3 ally chars and goind for two more. This seems to be the fastest route if you are not a mage:

Pick up orphan in Stormwind. Do 地怒裂口游览记 in Westfall, then go to Ironforge for 史上最大钻石！.
Get to Shattrath. Pick up orphan and do all three Outland quests (Terokkar->Nagrand->Hellfire seems the shortest order here).
Get to Exodar or Darnassus. Do quests in one of these cities and then use the portal to the other city to do quests there. (You have to do a human quest in Darnassus and two draenish in Exodar.)
Get to Dalaran and do all the Northrend quests of your chosen pet.
Use portal in Violet Citadel in Dalaran to get to Caverns of Time and do 参观时光之穴.
Get to Shattrath and Stormwind to finish draenish and human quest lines.

How to Get to ...?
I get to Shattrath and Exodar/Darnassus by hearthing to Shrine of Seven Stars and using portals there. Cooldown should be over while you fly around the Outland and do Dalaran.
I get to Dalaran using 肯瑞托指箍.
In the end I get to Shattrath as before - by hearthing and then use 巴拉丁典狱官战袍 to get to Stormwind which is just a portal away.
If you don't have the ring or tabard, I'm afraid you have to wait out the hearthstone cooldown or do some quests on another char meanwhile...

For the Northrend quests - I think this is clearly the fastest order:

Fly to Grizzly Hills for 史上最巨大的树！/熊怪的家园
Dragonblight for 青铜巨龙圣地/青铜巨龙圣地. If doing the Wolvar questline, you also do 伙伴！ and 巨龙女王 here.
(oracle questline only) Borean Tundra for 伙伴！.
Scholazar Basin for 强大的赫米特·奈辛瓦里 or portal from Scholazar to Un'goro Crater for 拜访一位造物主 (don't forget to use portal to get back to Scholazar).
(oracle questline only) Dragonblight for 巨龙女王.
Dalaran (fly or use ring) to finish the questline.

Am I understanding this correctly... that you have to go to the different areas each year to do them? Is it so that only one of our toons can do them? I thought they all would be able to...

I tried checking on different toons on different realms and in different areas but no matron has the quest ! over them after I completed the first day for the one in SW with my main. I did it last year and now have Edgert, and Peanut, but not Willy.

Any polite help is much appreciated. Thanks :)

The orphans despawn easily if you travel (looked to be a server side issue, might be related to uptime and loading), so make sure (one of) your orphan(s) is out when you do something toward an achievement that requires that the orphan is present. You will not get credit if your orphan is not visible. Also, make sure it's your orphan, not another player's orphan.

The orphan is a pet, (s)he replaces and is replaced by a pet if you put one out. (The orphan is much like the old school pets where you had to carry an inventory item for each one.) If you participate in pet battles, your battle pet may replace your orphan after the battle. In particular, if you are using the pet battle dailies for credit for the 家务杂事 achievement, make sure your orphan is visible after the battle, before you turn in the daily.

Any of the three SW or Org/Shattrath/Dalaran orphans count as an orphan for each incremental step toward these achievements. You do not have to be consistent about which one you use. You can use these orphans after you turn in their final quests; the whistles persist for the duration of Children's Week. You can carry forward progress from year to year, if you fail to complete an achievement.

Each individual achievement must, however, be done on a single toon. Different toons can do different achievements for account credit, and achievements can be repeated by different toons.

Just notice that there's 4x new pets under Children's Week, they are:
Beakbert a turtle
Froglet a little frog
Mr. Crabs another aquatic (obviously re: spongebob reference)
and Scaley, a little dragon pet,
With these 4x are they introduced for this Children's Week coming up on 2-9 May/19?
and If so where do we find them? I really want to try to get them and I am almost positive
others are wanting the same.

The starting quest for the new Children's week event starts in the orphanage in Hook Point In Boralus. Coords: 48.12, 40.21. Orphan Matron Westerson is the quest giver.

New quest starts for Horde in Zuldazar, Dazar'Alor : talk to Caretaker Padae, she is in the Grand Bazaar area in front of the Hall of Caste, right next to the inn "Spirits be with you" (she is NOT in the Great Seal).

Currently (2:30 AM) this page says 'Starts at 12:00 AM' and 'Event is currently in progress'. Both of these are false (edit: over on the East Coast US). Both of these are presumably also based off the in-game calendar, which also shows the event as starting at 12:01 AM and active, yet none of the various Matrons have quests for me on either Horde or Alliance characters.

Best guess? The event actually starts at 12:01 AM Pacific time, but Blizzard forgot to notate such in-game, and by extension, Wowhead wasn't able to update their info correctly. That said, Blizzard also hasn't bothered to update their own website about the event since 2012, so I suppose I should be thankful the event is on the in-game calendar in the first place.

Didn't see this mentioned but you can use a class trial to get the other reward pets too. I just did the Orgrimmar chain and got one of the pets at the end.

2019/2020 BFA Children week.
If you play horde, complete the Zandalari children week chain, get your pet, but don't leave yet, stay and observe your orphan from a distance, you might learn that your orphan may be, in fact, less innocent than he seems...

I tried to do the achievement "School of Hard Knocks" in the Arathi Basin Blizzard that's up with Children's week right now, but it didn't count. So I guess these Custom/Brawl battlegrounds won't work for this achievement that is required for the meta. Do it in the regular ones!

Make sure to get your Yellow Balloon if you use Theotar as your soulbind. With his Token of Appreciation you can be invulnerable. Blizzard does not seem to want to fix this bug.

You can complete the quests using different characters to get multiple quest reward pets in the same year. This includes characters on different realms, as pets are shared across the account.

Heads Up: There are 4 new orphans in 2025. (Note: For the part in Undermine your character need to be Lvl 80)

In short: Head to Dornogall to Ullna. She's at 55.40, 27.04
Skibbles : will acompany you now to Hallowfall. 小狗头人，大梦想 Do some steps in Hallowfall and then meet Ullna again in front of the orphanage in Mereldar.
Destien : Skibbles will stay and 阿拉希孤儿 now acompanies you and asks you to go to the Weavers Lair in Azj Kahet. 奇妙的织网
Threadis : Once you're complete in the Weaver's Lair Destien stays and accompanies you. 热忱的工程师
Kitzy : You'll meet in Undermine when you return Destien to Ullna there. She wants to go back up top to see the blue birds. "鸫"乐无穷

After this you'll be able to choose your reward.

- Complete quest.
Accept quest "Children's Week Dornogal"
- Speak to the orphan, Skibbles (complete quest when it pops).

Skibbles gives you a quest "Bold For A Kobold"
- Take Skibbles to see Beledar (41,54 Mereldar, Hallowfall) Make sure to dismount and walk to the middle of the bridge.
- Tell Skibbles how big you think Beledar is (same spot)
- Take Skibbles to the Training Grounds (41,52)

I hope this is a clear enough description of this questline. There was a lot of waiting around due to the dialog between the NPC's, at times I thought I missed something and realized 'chat' was going on between them so I just waited until it was done and moved on. The coordinates I use are "Coordinates by TomCat's Tours (Retail + Classic) from Curseforge.
