Summon him and speak to him when near a fel portal (Fel Crack, Fel Scar, etc), then he will go in and disappear for 20 minutes (killing mobs reduces the timer by 30 seconds). You can re-summon him afterward and he will have a quest that rewards a crate. I received Rakkan Archim, a level 20 blue shoulder item, from a Fel Crack in Ashenvale.

Sent mine into a Fel Tear in Desolace, about 20 minutes later he showed up with a treasure that had a semi-decent green weapon plus some vendor trash

After sending my 探索者小鬼 into 魔化疤痕s to loot 異界的寶藏 for a chance at getting Modas Karkun, I noticed my Imp came back at different times.
I realized it was because I was killing NPCs while I waited for 探索者小鬼 to return. I then did some testing throughout multiple 魔化疤痕 farming runs to get the values of how the 探索者小鬼 works while you have the 任務在身的小鬼 buff.

The following is my findings:

If you just AFK then 探索者小鬼 returns in 20minutes.
Every NPC you kill reduces the wait time by 30 seconds.
The earliest the 探索者小鬼 can return is ~9 minutes and 30seconds.
The maximum NPCs you need to kill to get the full time reduction is 23 kills.

PS: I will eventually update the post to include what resources I created to make 異界的寶藏 spamming as quick and efficient as possible.

UPDATE: Thanks to Wowhead user YOLCINA, I was made aware that sacrificing your pet via 惡魔犧牲 (middle of Demonology Tree), you can also get credit for the kill that lowers the duration of your 探索者小鬼 returning.
So far through my testing it has shaved 1 minute compared to my original posting (returns in 8min and 30 seconds). I will keep testing to see if I can lower it more since other users have claimed that it COULD return in as early as 5.5mins, and I will report back with my findings.
