As a raiding mage I like this item for encounters that require a lot of fire resistance (like Onyxia or Ragnaros). There aren't many good belts out there that have fire resistance, but out of all of them this one is the best by far. Also, since it is a bind on equip item, there is a small chance that you will be able to get it off of the auction house (or just from a friend) if your guild has not started MC yet. However, it is usually in the price range of 300-500 gold.

Stat-wise, it is only decent. It has a nice amount of intellect and stamina (for those mana-dependent fights like Golemagg), but it is lacking in the spell damage and spell critical strike area. A bonus of 14 spell damage is nice, but there belts that are far better and about the same difficulity to obtain.

If you are in a MC raiding guild and have killed most of the bosses, I recommend getting Mana Igniting Cord instead. It has better stats, but does not have the fire resistance that this one does. If you are not able to obtain Mana Igniting Cord, I recommend this belt.

Dropped off a "trash" mob in the room with Golemagg the Incinerator. Golemagg is a huge lava giant with two core dogs that rez immediately upon death. Once you kill Golemagg they die.

No other mages wanted to use their DKP on this so I decided to get it. I really didn't feel like making
a Belt of the Archmage.

I have 3 pieces of arcanist, chest/gloves/mantle, instead of this i'd rather keep my
unless i can get this cheap :-P

When he posted this NW was dropped in MC because there was no BWL at the time.

And MC is certainly not easy, to someone or someones who are just starting.
