Warlock DPS Pre-Raid Best in Slot (BiS) Gear Guide - WoW Classic

Welcome to Wowhead's Pre-Raid Best in Slot Gear list for Warlock DPS in WoW Classic Season of Mastery. This guide will list the recommended gear for Warlock DPS while they prepare for their first raids, picking up gear from from dungeons, professions, world drops, reputations, and instances.

Pre-Raid Best In Slot Gear for Warlock DPS in Season of Mastery
The recommendations listed below for each gear slot are simply that - recommendations. They have been chosen based on a combination of Spell Power / Crit / Hit / Intellect, and we have taken care to provide a range of alternatives. For more specific situations, the

which will help you evaluate the best combination of gear available to you.
All items are listed in order of pure DPS value, ignoring guild loot priority or set bonuses. If exceptions apply, they will be listed in the descriptions. Items listed as Inferior should be replaced as soon as possible, these are items you might pick up along the way.
Warlock Discord & Gear Sim Spreadsheet
The biggest difference in Season of Mastery Phase One compared to the classic release is the availability of the Honor System and Battlegrounds, Dire Maul, and other catch-up gear. This also means that upon reaching rank 10 in PVP, you get access to the two-piece bonus of the Rare PVP Set. That being +23 Spell Power. This combination is going to on your character for a long time. There are also other Exalted Battleground rewards are worthwhile to get. I am not going to list PVP rewards which take immensely long to get, however the

offhand and rank 10 Rare PVP gear should be fairly easy to get your hands on.
Another difference compared to Classic is the faster timeline. This means less Raid Gear will be available. It is likely more casters will be run compared to classic as well due to the changes in boss mechanics, debuff limit, and world buffs being removed in raids, increasing competition for pieces as well.
There are also a lot of Random of Shadow Wrath pieces listed. Most of the time these are one of the stronger options. They do lack other base stats such as stamina. The buffed content of Season of Mastery might mean you will be more comfortable opting for a more balanced item, which also has stamina at the cost of some DPS.
Best in Slot
This is what technically would be the Pre-Raid Best in Slot. Note that this is assuming you rank up to Rank 10 in PVP, which I highly recommend. It opens up the Rare PVP set, which offers great flexibility as well the two-set bonus of +23 spell power and in the future

What technically is the best is not the most probable you will be running by the end of this phase. It is important to not blindly stare at this gear embed, but rather proactively learn how to use a

to determine what are logical upgrades. The whole "Give a Man a Fish, and You Feed Him for a Day. Teach a Man To Fish, and You Feed Him for a Lifetime" saying holds very much true for gearing choices and simming.
Note that without going the PVP route; you are missing out on a lot of stats. You should at least consider getting up to rank 10 for the spell power bonus of the rare PVP set.
This is what technically would be the Pre-Raid Best in Slot without PVP gear. But that does not account for loot scarcity or priority.

Body Armor for Warlock DPS in Season of Mastery Phase 1

was in Classic only available at Phase 5 with the Loot Revamp. It is one of the select few pieces of this phase that has actual Hit on it. Not only that, but it is also significantly stronger than the other options in this phase and can be gotten outside of raids. Which is a plus with the loot scarcity from raids.
Random of Shadow Wrath items can roll up to a maximum of 41 Shadow Power. This is fairly good until you can get your hands on

or horde counterpart is slightly worse than a Random of Shadow Wrath but has the added benefit of having an easy-to-reach two-set bonus of +23 SP. It is recommended to get at least up to rank 10 in PVP for the Rare Set. This set bonus is best reached through the Shoulder and Boots or Glove slot.
Random of Shadow Wrath items can roll up to a maximum of 30 Shadow Power. It is a good option to use until you get to Rank 10 or in case you do not want to PVP.

Ideally, you would get

(or Horde counterpart) along with the shoulders for the two-piece bonus of 23 spell power. You can see a lot of other boots listed above the Rank 7 rare PVP boots. This is because on paper if you ignore the set-bonus those are stronger. The boots are one of the best slots to use to reach your two-set bonus. This is because you lose out on the least amount of stats from the items themselves.
As long as you are working up your way to your two-piece PVP rare set (or if you do not do PVP) you can use either

or a Random of Shadow Wrath (rolls up to 30 shadow damage).

. Sadly this is once again a raid drop that all other casters will want as well. On top of that this ring is not unique, meaning in a technical BIS situation you are looking at equipping two of these rings. With the short life cycle of Seasons of Mastery this is highly unlikely to happen.

isn't all that good for normal fights. It does have a unique application, it is the only ring with Spell Penetration available. There are two bosses in this phase where this has use; Lucifron with 186 and Gehennas with 93 Shadow Resistance. For these bosses

Other strong contenders are the

both from Alterac Valley Exalted reputation. These are also offhands that are available sooner than they were in the Classic version of the game.
Sadly we will no longer see the
Drakestone Hall of Fame
of people farming for the correct suffix of

of Shadow Wrath in the Sunken Temple as we did back in 2019. When this item was Best in Slot until Phase 3 and people did over 1000 runs to get it!

. They aren't as good as the actual pre-bis, as the guide said, but on my server they go for about 5g each on the AH, so if you are largely skipping your pre-bis to get raid gear, and you have a really bad piece in one or more of those slots, it might be worth picking one of these up.
