Welcome to Wowhead's Warlock DPS PvP BiS Gear Classic Guide, updated for WoW Classic! In this guide, we will cover all the best Warlock DPS best in slot options for PvP in WoW Classic. The guide will help Warlocks understand what items they should be needing on in Dungeons, what quests to do for rewards, and what items Warlocks should be crafting to min-max their odds of winning PvP confrontations.

Phase 5 update
With phase 5, there will be more gear coming from
安其拉
, and a new mechanic added to the game called Spell Penetration. This will directly counter a player's resistance value. For every one point of Spell Penetration, you will negate 1 resistance value on the target, up to 0 resistance. You cannot bring them into the negative. While this is nice, this is only relevant in most situations for Shadow Resistance due to the prevalence of
暗影防護
, and against warlocks with their
魔甲術
. As such you shouldn't use more than 72 spell penetration if at all possible, as this is the most any person will actively use unless they are doing something cheesy like running with lots of shadow resistance and a
快速暗影反射器
. If you are dueling in this scenario, and you would like to circumvent this gear, then you will need to adjust your spell penetration accordingly.
AQ40 Gear
With AQ40, you will get access to

. The set bonus is not worth running the whole set, and the stats are focused primarily on PVE rather than PVP. They are lower on stamina than the primary pvp set. The only major advantage comes from

Gearing Your Warlock for Classic WoW PvP
Gearing your warlock in PVP is similar-ish to gearing in PVE. To get a full breakdown of stats, check out the guide here. The biggest difference is the reduction in spell hit needs, as the hit cap for level 60 is significantly lower than level 63 mobs. Without the talent

, you only need 3% spell hit to cap your abilities like

, and you will always need this 3% spell hit for abilities like

. You only need 3 % because spell casters can never reach 100% spell hit, and you will always have at minimum 1 % spell miss chance no matter how much hit you have. These "Spell misses" will show up as resists in the combat log. As a warlock, spell hit is not a mandatory stat because it only affects your nuke, and you aren't using this ability that often, and through rank 2 of
鎮壓
, you can hit the required spell hit levels for all your affliction spells, including
恐懼術
.
The other massive difference between PVP and PVE gearing is you actually care about your health pool in PVP. Warlocks are the hardest to kill spellcaster in the game due to our heals, inherent damage reduction from things like

, and this stamina value is all the more important to allow you to do great things as a warlock. Having more stamina also indirectly increases your mana capacity due to

The bulk of your damage will come from

(when specced into it). Because of this spell damage, and specifically, shadow damage is incredibly strong for warlocks in PVP. Since many of these abilities cannot crit as well, the value of spell crit is drastically reduced compared to the PVE stat priority. Many items such as

. As you can see, Blackwing Lair and Phase 3 is a huge patch for a Warlock, in PvP. While these items are replaced later on, they are great for initial PVP content. Due to these not being out yet, you are still going to have to stick with many items from Molten Core and dungeon gear that checks the stamina and spell damage boxes. I have however included the
復仇
as a comparison to the purple pvp gear. This may help some people who are on the fence about ranking purely for reawards, as many items in the Nemesis set are just as good in pvp as the PVP items.
Finally, there is also tier gear. Due to the massive amount of stamina, as well as a reasonable amount of spell power and a few very strong tier bonuses, it's not unheard of to be running full Tier2:

. Felheart is especially popular for entry-level PVP as it is pretty easy to get and has most all of the good stats, as buffing your survivability from

and improving your pet's survivability.
Classic PvP Honor Set for Warlocks
While ranking up through the Honor system, as a Warlock reaches new Ranks, rewards become available to purchase with gold. The highest ranks, rank 12 through rank 13 reward the Warlock with some of the best PvP items in the game. And to top it off, at rank 14, Warlock will be able to purchase the R14 Weapons and Off-Hand items, which are extremely powerful, some of which are on par with Best-in-Slot-forever Naxxramas Off-Hand items.

This set has a stripped-down version of everything you need as a warlock. Stamina, spell power, and a bit of intel sprinkled in as well. It is heavier on stamina than intellect for the most part, and the set as a whole provides 125 spell power total. A special note is that the gloves provide a great effect as well:
Searing Pain Cast Pushback Reduction
, which is very helpful when trying to finish off a player in the sub 20% hp zone. This set provides the following bonuses:
2 pieces: Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 23.
4 pieces: Reduces the casting time of your Immolate spell by 0.2 sec.
6 pieces: +20 Stamina.
The 2 and 6-piece are pretty generic, bringing your total spell damage provided from the blue set to 148 and adding another 200 hp onto your character. The 4 piece is interesting, not nearly as valuable as other class's 4-piece, but still helps in bringing
獻祭
cast time down below the GCD. This makes things a lot harder to kick since most kicks are on the GCD.
Because this 2-piece bonus is so easy to obtain, you will often see Warlocks using a 2-piece from this set even in PvE. Especially when Blackwing Lair comes out in Phase 3, many Warlocks will take advantage of this 2-piece item set, to boost their spell damage when they are too cheap to afford things like

These sets are basically a carbon copy of the Rank 7-10 sets, but with a higher item level, which means more stats. The crit on the shoulders has also gone away, meaning there is more room on item budget for spell power, which is all you really want as a warlock. The other thing to note is that the set bonuses get reversed and go from a 4 piece requirement to a 3 piece requirement. This is because there are only 2 ranks of gear, which means each rank gets 3 pieces of gear. The 2 and 6 piece bonuses also reversed themselves. These changes basically means that as you start to replace your blue PVP set pieces with purple set pieces, you will still maintain all 3 set bonuses instead of double-dipping into the spell power for example.
2 pieces: +20 Stamina.
3 pieces: Reduces the casting time of your Immolate spell by 0.2 sec.
6 pieces: Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 23.
Overall its a tossup between this set and
復仇
as they give almost the exact same level of stats, so keep in mind that after BWL your just as well off getting some of that Tier 2 gear since it won't involve sitting in battlegrounds for 10 hours a day for 6+ weeks to gain rank 13.
Best Armor for Classic PvP Warlocks
Head
Due to the extremely minor differences in stats between

and the Rank 13 helm, both are included in this list. You get the exact same spell damage on each, and trade 3 stamina on nemesis for hp/5 regen which is not bad ever. Included are also a variety of engineering gadgets, gizmos, and various other things that make PVP oh so much fun.

are extremely powerful in Phase 2, I think they are slightly outshined by the Epic PvP Gloves, with the 12 Stamina and 13 Intellect, in exchange for only 10 Spell Damage. I think it can be pretty reasonable to still use Felcloth Gloves, even after reaching the Rank necessary for the Epic Gloves, it comes down to preference. PVE items are listed very low due to their low spell damage values.

Standard Trinkets
These are a couple of trinkets that you can use for general purposes, they are very similar to what you would use in a standard PVE situation.
These trinkets are the best trinkets to wear in terms of raw stats, you'll want to use these trinkets while your "utility trinkets" and "engineering trinkets" are on cooldown.

Utility Trinkets
These are trinkets you would swap on for certain situations where the utility that the trinket provides gives you an advantage in PvP.
These trinkets should be rotated on and off based on the situation you are in and whether or not the trinket is on cooldown. Your class insignia is a pretty safe trinket to equip in any situation and with a short cooldown of 5 minutes, you'll be able to use it often. Similar to the "utility trinkets" above you will want to use these trinkets depending on the situation you are in and whether or not they are off cooldown. For instance, the Gnomish Net-o-Matic Projector is excellent for rooting mounted players to reduce their speed to 0, while the Ultra-Flash Shadow Reflector would be best suited for situations where you are fighting against Warlocks and Shadow Priests.

Best Main Hand Weapons for Classic PvP Warlocks
As previously mentioned, the Rank 14 Weapons are extremely, extremely powerful. In Vanilla WoW, these Spellcaster PvP Weapons weren't added into the game until Patch 1.11, prior to Naxxramas, just like the upgraded Blue PvP sets. Meaning, these items are essentially on par with some pre-Naxxramas weapons. Just look below and compare the Rank 14 Weapons to the optional pieces, it doesn't even compare! At least after Blackwing Lair and Phase 3 is released,

, which only requires Exalted in Alterac Valley, something that requires only a weekend of time investment. By sacrificing 16 Intellect and 9 Stamina, a Warlock can pick up 14 extra Spell Damage. For how easy it is to obtain, Tome of Shadow Force is a really great item.

Best Staves for Classic PvP Warlocks
Some Warlocks prefer to use Staves, even though it isn't recommended. In some situations, because of how the loot rolls landed, a Warlock might also be stuck with using a Staff in PvP, so this list was put together for either scenario. The main advantage of using a Staff in PvP is that you can get more total Stamina by sacrificing some Spell Damage and the utility gained from off-hands like

Some errors I caught:
1) Most of the Nemesis pieces are listed as dropping from Onyxia's Lair and not BWL. The head and leggings are marked correctly, the others are not.
2) Lok'amir, Shimmering Geta and Ring of Blackrock should not be listed as "some of the best items a Warlock can get". They can't use Maces and the mp5 is wasted on them, especially in PvP.
3) The blue Rank 7 gloves listed in the Hands section are from the Priest PvP set (Satin), not Warlock (Dreadweave).

I'll be honest, this is a pretty poor guide. You prioritise spell power far too much - in reality stamina is king in pvp. You should never be using ring of spell power in pvp, double underworld band is ideal. Stormrager is also superior to skul's ghastly touch due to it's stats. Also, mana igniting cord is far better than sash of whispered secrets. In pvp you'll be using searing pain rather than shadow bolt due to its shorter cast time, as well as immolate. Since these are both fire spells, you definitely want spell damage rather than just shadow damage on your pvp gear. Granted, the gear you want will partially rely on your spec, but without a doubt you want at least enough stamina to survive a rogue's opener or a warriors initial attack. I would personally recommend at the very least 4000 hp, and if you go for spell damage over stamina you may not reach that threshold.

Gear suggestion is all over the place. Nem shoulders/robe? Suggesting R14 as BiS, while technically is correct, is kind of silly approach as it's almost unattainable. Perhaps something like an attainable BiS list for phase 2.5 would be more helpful, anything in the game up to R10 gear would be fine, but to simply say, R14 is the BiS then call it a wrap seems really half a$$ed

I count 3% if I follow the "best" always.
You could trade a nemesis belt for Angelista's Grasp (2% hit), Nemesis bracers for Arcane Accuracy, since you included Jindo's offhand in the list we can also talk about the cape from Hakkar..
When you create a bis list you have to compare the loss/gain of each item in order to first reach your hitcap and then you start stacking other stats; not the other way around.

If you're going to mention
巫術匕首
as an optional PVP mainhand for warlocks, you should also mention
聖劍
which is an arguably better PVP main hand and which is also crafted and often easier to attain than raid loot.
I think you should also list
屠龍大師寶珠
as "Best" in the offhand section since it seems to be as good or better than what you already have listed.
