Apart from standard damage spells such as Frostbolt and Fireball, this is arguably one of the best spells for a mage, especially pre-lvl 40. Here are some of its uses.

a) Escape. Obviously, you can use this spell to run away from anyone - melee can not reach you, and spells will have a 20-yard more distance to fire. Note this also realeases you from bonds, so you can blink out of frostnovas, entangling roots. You can blink out of warriors' charges too, and other abilities. Whenever in a tricky position, just blink!

b) Transport. Being able to move 20 yards instantly every 25 seconds can shave time off your travel journey, and is like having a small speed increase. It can be the difference between a BG win or loss! Pre-lvl 40, this is a great way to speed up journeys - 20 yards is more than you think!

c) 'Slow Fall' If you're out of light feathers, this is the way to go! Blink just before you hit the ground, and you will not lose hp! - however this is harder than you think, and you need a computer with small lag. There are many uses, such as tricking enemy non-mage players to follow you off cliffs. Tactical ambushes can also be made, such as jumping off from LM, or down to GM in AB; great escapes can also be achieved!

Use this spell, it will serve you well for many levels.

There is more use of this then just that. For instance, you can get behind the invisible wall in the AV cave, and you can also use this spell to cancel your opponents' frostbolt by teleporting behind them. Great spell, very annoying and frustrating for other classes. :P

this is definitely a must when facing all types of classes
especially rogues and warriors
without blink you will be stunned and murdered by these melee classes.

I use blink a lot while fighting rogues/warriors. Frost nova then blink even if they get a hamstring off on me. Then frost bolt them to death, while he's tell trying to figure out where I went.

Without blink I would be useless against rogues and warriors.

Blink has other defensive uses.

Arcane Missile auto tracks a target, this we all know, but what Arcane Missile will not do is track a target goes from being in front to being in back. A 180 degree change in the fire arc turns Arcane Missile off. Therefore when dueling or simply PVPing Mages, Blinking "through them" is an effective way for you to stop AM. And since AM's costs is upfront, your opponent just lost a good deal of mana for their trouble.

Warriors like using charge and intercept to not only close distance but to stun you. By blinking at them then frost novaing you removed their chances of doing either. Some might call this a bad call, but I have defeated more warriors by getting close than I have at range.

Hunters have a sweet spot where they cannot melee or use ranged weapons. By blinking toward them you can stop their aimed shot (a popular opener) and cancel their auto shot. After that use Cone of Cold first and circle around them, if they wing clip you use frost nova.

Lastly I use blink to close distances with ranged mobs when farming. General speaking I fireball twice, get into fireblast range, fireblast, cast blink loot corpse move to the next mob. The move shaves a few seconds from your farming time. Since I farm a lot in a game session a few seconds per ranged mob over the course of an hour or two actually gives you a noticeable speed return.

Against warriors, youre better off saving this for the intercept and frost novaing the charge, because if you blink the charge away, they've got enough rage to turn around and intercept you for 3 seconds and if your blink is on cooldown that's means a usually deadly hamstring and whatever damage they do in three seconds.

This is also good to prevent fall damage. Just blink the second before u will hit the ground.

In Battle Grounds Blink is the best ability in the world. I'm the little Gnome Escape Artist that unless I'm all and all out killed first attack by 4 ppl or DOT'd to death I can Run away from anyone. Stun/Sap/Hamstring with the help of Nova and Blast Wave I've lived if not better thru them all. Sap your still dizzy but you can move and get away fairly easy. Only when 3 ppl hit me @ once am I frightened... and die misserbally sometimes.

BTW I think Blast wave is underated as well... it's very useful.

At least in 20-40 instances I run so fast no one catches me. I've lived thru a lot with this spell. It's not overpowering mage doesn't do as mass damage as we should. We should be able to run away quickly as cloth wearing persons.

This is pretty much the ONLY defence a mage has against rogues who can kill them in two seconds flat

Remember this we have nothing for armor! Blink is not overpowered its our defense!

The Mage is a ranged class! If anything there sould be a rank 2 version @ lvl 60 that increases it to 30 yards (the Mages max casting range).

I have 2 mages, this spell is a MUST. Without it, you're pretty much dead both in pvp and pve. Try playing a mage without a blink before whining.

Rogues, you make me sick sometimes when complaining about Mages:
*You can one hit them with Ambush, or you can kill them with your amazing damage and there digustng armour.
*Scared of blink? No ambush? THEN KICK! If you're fast, cheapshot and kick without them knowing you're near. Then you're posions (which should be Cripling for speed deduction and Mind Numbing for anti-spells)have a high chance to have kicked in.
*Now, the mage is useless becuase the staff isn't supposed to be useful, damage wise. You can then SS spam Evis., etc. The mage is dead.
*The defence of a mage is so bad, the spell Ice Armour is added in, and even with that the armour is just too low to complain. A mage who dosen't pollymorph or blink is dead. There's reasons for spells like that. Does a dagger rogue (sub. specd.) ever not use Ambush becuase a mage is mad from being one-hitted so much? No.
*Other classes also have their anti-mage. You just need to use them.
In conclusion, a mage has such low defence it would be dumb not to use Blink or Poly. as a defencive strat. A rogue can kick a mage, literally. So rogues don't complain.So can other classes. :)

ok mates, I hate to ruin this lil party... but every class is completely, totally equal. Period. They each have strengths and weaknesses, such as mages having blink and doomy spells, the big Rs having stealth, hunter having pets and shooting *!@#, warriors taking the dam and dishin it back out, etc etc. But, if you take it all in stride, you'll get that the good ol folks at Blizzard have a very large staff of people who have many years of this crap under their hats. Powers, talents, all that is stared at for weeks if not months before put out, so I'mma say it's safe to say that each power and ability has it's own place within the class's repetuar (...frech=hard to spell). That's what makes it cool, is that every class has certain advantages. So all of ya... it's meant to be there, it's not overpowered, or else Blizz would fix it. DERRRRRRR

ok the first one is in refuge point the ab sign up portal u can blind thru and the second one.
next,go to any mountian u cant climb blink up=P may say u cant blink when objects in front of u wronge!
next, same as the warsong portal sign up.
same as the av. funny to kill npcs that way or players=P bewarned hunters pets and locks pets can get thru.

mages need this spell rogues can kill mages if they are assasination or sub pvp for mages and rogues lvl 20-39
rogue:sub is best to kill mage imp sap chaepshot,(poisons mind-numbing& cripp)when a mage does frost nova and blink use vanish,cheapshot,kidneyshot,kick, and slice and dice
if you dont kill mage in 20sec U R DEAD! he/she will blink,blastwave, pryoblast and one of my favorite spells cone of cold (if mage doenst have pyroblast or blastwave he will scorch and frostbolt)
rogues and mages are not mortal enimies, hunter vs rogue (ever wonder why hunters have flare and rogues have disarm trap?), mages vs druid (ever wonder why mages have polymorph and druids have shapeshift?)

This spell is alright if you're running from enemies or if you just want to reach an area faster. I use it since I don't have a mount and mage doesn't get any abilities that increase movement speed.
