Quissy, which speciality do you think is better, and why?

Comentario de Gulanga

It would be kind of useful to know what recipes are unique to each specialization.
Otherwise how can one judge what to pick?

Comentario de Bombaa89

Nice guide! can i have all 3 weapon specialization at the same time?

Comentario de brain128

Is it worth picking Blacksmithing while leveling, or should i go with e.g. skinning for getting the mount early?

(165-185) Green Iron Bracers x20 -- Takes 2 small lustrous pearls is there something better to make from 165-185?

Comentario de batossai89

I really REALLY wish the guide had a full breakdown of the total materials required for each of the leveling pattern.
As someone without Mining I really wish it would just tell me how much of each Bar, and other stuff, I needed (appx) all the way up.

Comentario de HottStepper

I would definitely recommend crafting radiant gear in the 265+ area instead of the imperial pieces. They take half the thorium and some heart of fire. Heart of fire can be pretty cheap. Most cases cheaper then the thorium you waste on the imperials.

Comentario de croana

The leveling path in this guide might be the fastest, but it's by no means the cheapest.

Some examples:

Brazales de hierro verdes are much cheaper to craft than Brazales de escamas doradas, and also give a skill up nearly every time. Even if you miss 1 or 2 skill ups (since it's yellow instead of orange), you still come out way ahead in terms of money spent on materials. The Hacha de mitril pesado is also much cheaper to craft than Yelmo de placas de acero on my realm currently, and actually has resale value on the AH.

I suggest that your leveling path includes the items needed for the Barbaric Iron quest chain, which starts with Almenas barbáricas. It was pretty annoying to go back and craft costly, now grayed out, items when I could have been making them while leveling.

Finally, why haven't you thought about including keys in the leveling path? Keys like Llave esqueleto dorada and Llave esqueleto de veraplata are really handy to keep in stock and quite cheap to make. It's worth crafting them even while green, since you're sure to use them eventually.

Comentario de Jnaathra

I learned Phantom Blade from my trainer after I completed weapon specialization quests.

Comentario de cutura

Is there any way to replace it weaponsmith to armorsmith?

Comentario de DezIsLost

Enjoyed the guide. Just wanted to mention that after the quests for Galvan the Ancient and Trenton Lighthammer are completed. you must speak with Myolor Sunderfury in order to select between Armorsmithing and Weaponsmithing. I was stuck on this for quite a while thinking I needed to talk to Bengus Deepforge when I really didn't.

Comentario de UrN1ghtM4r3

So I unlearned Blacksmithing so that I could switch to armorsmith and I'm back to 270 now. The thing is I cant get the imperial bracers quest again to get the recipe. Is there something I'm missing? I also went to the soothsayer book and it does nothing for me except give me a text box about it being in constant flux. Any help is appreciated.

Comentario de Timiant

I was able to pick up the quest for Armorsmith, The Art of the Armorsmith, before picking up Trenton Lighthammer's quests. So I'm pretty sure Trenton's is not necessary to become an Armorsmith, but that trinket is definitely nice.

Comentario de Vargful

Leveling path is totally "wrong" for almost every realm in NA and EU.
0 cost efficieny and literally random recipes. BUT!

Thanks for the effort that you put in for all other parts.

Comentario de ChinookUT

This guide is mostly very good.

I don't like the leveling guide, though, especially at the very end.

Mithril Spurs should be created until skill level 265, when it turns green.

At this point in time, you can learn Thorium Bracers, which is greatly easier and cheaper to make and can be efficiently created until 285.

For the final 15 points, I learn and create Thorium Helm, each takes a Star Ruby but the plan requires nothing else of difficulty to acquire and stays orange all the way up to 300.

Good luck!

Dense Sharpening Stones - how do I learn to make them? Im lvl 250 in BS and standing by Brikk Keencraft right now. There are no plans he can teach me - so how do I learn to make these damn Sharpening Stones? And no, I dont already know how to make them :)

Comentario de grizz2202

I created an account, verified it, logged in and all just to say:

Compared to the other guides on Wowhead, this is a terrible guide. At least for leveling. Save yourself a lot of trouble (and time, and walking, and especially gold) and go somewhere else like wow-professions.com.

It actually breaks down how to level, what to keep, what to sell, etc. Instead of just saying, "make this x25" with no other help or assistance like this one does. For instance, I just sold a ton of grinding stones not realizing I would need them later.

This isn't a leveling guide, it's a "now that you're done leveling, here's all the cool stuff you can make with it" guide.

Comentario de Tehrock

Don't grind mithril spurs from 260-270, that's just dumb. You're throwing out like 2g per craft and can go 7+ crafts with no skillup at 265-270. Get thorium bracers plans and craft them instead from 260-270.

Comentario de Chronokatan

This guide is wrong when it comes to changing between Armor and Weapon blacksmithing or changing your sub-specs @Quissy , you can't change your Blacksmithing spec using the book in Tanaris.

Instead:

1. Unlearn Blacksmithing completely.
2. Re-learn it and max it out. (225 seems to be enough.)
3. If you're alliance, go to Myolor in Ironforge and choose either armorsmith or weaponsmith. He will kindly oblige and teach you either.(going to update Horde as soon as that info becomes available.)
4. Then you go to either Ironus (weapons) or Grumus (armor) to learn recipes.
5. Then you go to Seril for swordsmithing, Lilith for hammersmithing and Kilram for axesmithing in Everlook. (You can only pick one.)

Verified with and by a GM because we tried using the book, which didn't work, and they escalated the issue into the US to have it be looked into.

Comentario de Chronokatan

There is another small mistake in the guid, at least for Alliance:

Hand in his quests and he will follow up with Did You Lose This?. Simply watch him work and he will reward you with Glimmering Mithril Insignia. Now, return to where you started, either:
Bengus Deepforge (52, 40) at the Great Forge in Ironforge.
Krathok Moltenfist (75, 33) at the Valley of Honor in Orgrimmar.
They'll ask you to choose Armorsmith or Weaponsmith. Choose Armorsmith in this case. They'll follow up by telling you to speak with:
~~Grumnus Steelshaper (50, 42) at the Great Forge in Ironforge.~~

He won't send you to Grumnus and Grumnus will have nothing to say to you.

He sends you to: Myolor Sunderfury and he will offer you the choice to either learn Armor or Weaponsmithing.

Once you made that choice a quest will appear above Grumnus' head. :D

Comentario de Dalajlada

It's halfway done guide. A really good guide would encompass the materials needed for each product. Now the player has to either look up all materials needed before going to level up or run like an idiot there and back.

Comentario de Boadicia

Brikk Keencraft will NOT train you in expert blacksmithing at 150, he won't even speak to you.

Comentario de DarthGarth82

Most other crafting professions have a way to change your "specialization", just wondering if blacksmithing allows you to change your mind and go from weaponsmith to armor?

Comentario de Lainya

For the armorsmithing quest chain (not including the faction-specific initial quests that require different items), the total mats required for the hand ins and crafted items are:

342 mithril bar
40 iron bar
26 truesilver bar
36 solid stone
3 aquamarine
4 citrine
4 black pearl
22 thick leather
18 mageweave cloth
1 heart of fire

Hi! Thanks for the guide. I suggest fixing the following wording:

We recommend crafting Golden Scale Bracers (and keeping 6 of them) if you decide to become an Armorsmith.

You need to keep 6 of them regardless of your Weaponsmith/Armorsmith choice. It's for the Mithril Order quest El origen de la herrería, which is unrelated to Armorsmithing specifically.

Comentario de Kellise

Would say for 270-275 if your server has them (mine has them for only 2g) thorium bracers are better then Imperial plate, as they only require 4 ungoro crystals instead of a star ruby and are 12 thorium vs 20.

From 280 onwards you can also make Thorium boots, which are 20 thorium, 8 rugged leather (fairly cheap on ah) and 4 ungoro green crystals and stays orange till 300.

Sidenote
(165-190) Green Iron Bracers

CAN also be used for:
Green Iron Helm (4)
Green Iron Bracers (4)
Green Iron Leggings (2)
¡Aplástalos!
Diseño: botas barbáricas de hierro

OR
Brazales de hierro verdes

Comentario de Judicator1

Sobrehombros de bronce férreos is a good alternative to Brazales de bronce estampados in TBC Classic due to the removal of Gema de las Sombras requirement.

Comentario de Strafferen

Note to players that PREVIOUSLY had blacksmithing... you do NOT need to do the weapon-/armorsmith quests again.

I deleted my bs in classic (vanilla) and took it up again in p2 classic burning crusade... After spending several hundreds of gold on alle the weapons, I went to the npc... He had an option "I was once a weapon smith - teach me again" or some sorts instead of the actual quest. Bam! Weapon smith again. Now off to ah with &*!@ty expensively crafted items worth nothing.
-- Naturally, you need to have done the quest in the past.

Oh man.

Bill of Materials for Blacksmithing leveling 1-300 in TBC Classic following as much as possible this guide (some materials' quantities such as stones may vary due to skillup chance when yellow/green):
Piedra férrea x128 (may vary)
Piedra burda x57 (may vary)
Barra de cobre x100
Barra de plata x5
Barra de bronce x170
Piedra pesada x102 (may vary)
Barra de oro x12 (may vary)
Barra de hierro x190
Barra de acero x50
Piedra sólida x88 (may vary)
Barra de mitril x360
Piedra densa x68 (may vary)
Barra de torio x580*
Paño de tejido mágico x150
Cristal de poder amarillo x40*
Zafiro azul x10*

Note: due to Mithril spurs being too expensive, and thorium bracers/belt patterns not available in AH, I went with Thorium Armor, causing an extra 40x Barra de torio , 40x Cristal de poder amarillo and 10x Zafiro azul
Imperial plate boots and bracers pattern cost 30x Barra de torio (already counted in the list).

Finally, to learn the Armorsmith/Weaponsmith specializations, you first need to talk to Myolor Furiahendida. He'll ask you to choose and upon selecting, the quest to do the specialization will become available.

Great guide! I'm currently stuck at 286, so this was helpful. Thought I should point out though, that the Imperial Plate Bracers need 1 Star Ruby for every 20 Thorium Bars.

Comentario de PriestJohnBig

Don't even bother with thorium boots in SoD in order to level up from 290 to 300. Radiant Boots are much cheaper given Heart of Fire costs like 4-6 silver a piece.

Comentario de Angelhearth

This guide needs to be checked. The least amount of raw materials is not always the smartest way to go.

165 - 190 25 Green Iron Bracers 150 Iron Bar Iron Bar, 25 Green Dye Green Dye

This one is madness! Make Green Iron Shoulders with 1 Iron Bar extra per item, and they can be disenchanted, earning a good amount of gold!

Comentario de Zelzaikan

This guide is really helpful in certain aspects with most of the path being easy to follow and the quickest way to level. Certain parts are obviously cheaper and save time compared to the steps listed in the guide. this includes items like Brazales de hierro verdes being cheaper than items like Brazales de escamas doradas. When I accidently unlearned Blacksmithing at Skill 250, I followed this guide and quickly got to skill 150 in 30 mins. Keeping track of the gold i had to spend, it went to around 633 gold.

Comentario de Letanius

Would've been nice if the materials needed listed red and blue power crystals for the thorium belt and bracers..... js.... otherwise, pretty solid guide. Got me to 275 BS in anniversary classic at lvl 35.

Comentario de BerettaNEWarrior

The Thorium Belt step is not useful, given how rare the actual recipe is. I suggest giving an alternative.

Comentario de BerettaNEWarrior

Thorium Greatsword. Yellow until 295.

Mat costs on my server:

1.2gp Dense stone 15sp x8 stone
2.24gp Thorium ore 14sp x16 ore
56sp Rugged leather 14sp x4 leather
=
~4gp

The Thorium Greatsword vendors for 3.36gp.

At a rough 75% success rate that's more than half the materials cost refunded with every sword.

Do that to get from 285 to 295.

On the list of Weaponsmith recipes you missed out on Blight: Añublo#taught-by-npc

This polearm can also be crafted by basic weaponsmiths.

Since I didn't see a post with this on a VERY quick scan:
Based on the recommendations of the Blacksmithing Leveling Guide, I went ahead and plugged it into Professional Shopping List (PSL) add-on and you can just import.

Im playing as a Dwarf Paladin, and just started to the Armour Smith Quests.

The Tutorial guide for alliance:
"Speak to Hank the Hammer (/way 56.0 16.0) in Stormwind City, giving you the questThe Origins of Smithing The Origins of Smithing, requiring you to give him 6x Golden Scale Bracers. You'll receive Plans: Golden Scale Gauntlets Plans: Golden Scale Gauntlets as a reward and he'll give youIn Search of Galvan In Search of Galvan to speak to McGavan (/way 28.8 75.4), located in Booty Bay."

I did not have to do. for some reason i went directly to the next with:

To craft Ornate Armor pieces.

At some point, they removed the Silver Rod from the game, but the silver skeleton key takes the same materials and provides a good drop-in replacement.
