I hear that the bonus to attack power from a fishing pole in combat is based on your fishing skill, so bonus attack power with a skinning knife would presumably be likewise based on your skinning skill. Don't think it's a knife to consider using it over anything else, but it can suffice if you forget to repair your weapons.

If you just make a new char using daggers or swords, THis is great for you. First of all it has NO level require ments so you can get right when you get to a vendor there, Second of all its only 82c, and last of all its better then a worn dagger.....

Well I was out in the wilderness grinding some cats for the leather when my Rogue's dagger broke! I had my skinning knife in my inventory and I must say - it's a great backup knife if you are very very desperate for a new weapon of some sort. Strong(ish) and fast(ish) , this blade is pretty good.

There are a dagger and a sword, both with +10 skinning.
The dagger dropps off the beast in UBRS, the sword drops off a boss in Zul'Gurub.

You will need one of these and the +5 enchant on gloves to skin e.g. Onyxia or corehounds/Magmadar.

Is there a better skinning knife in the game then this? I heard that there is a skinning knife that drops that adds +10 or + 20 to your skinning ability but im thinking its just a rumor. I couldnt find it anywhere in Alakazam or thobot. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

do i need the skinning knife too skin, or can i use another dagger with more damage per second, and it goes faster?

Rough Sharpening Stone can't be applied to Skinning Knife. I went and got skinning on my level one near Brill, then went back to the starting area and tried to use it as an uber weapon there. The knife is still better than the starter weapon one is "born" with but you can't buff it with temporary enchants.
