Female Only Ghosts in Karazhan Updated to Include Male Versions

Along with the
addition and removal of several emotes
, today's Patch 9.1.5 PTR build includes more changes to older parts of the game, this time targeting trash mobs inside the original Burning Crusade version of Karazhan. Several undead enemies which previously only had female models have been updated to include male versions, with new or gender neutral names.
Some packs of previously all-female mobs can now include male versions, with new or gender neutral names and transformations.
The early trash in Karazhan is largely made up of the tower's undead former residents and party goers, many packs of which were comprised of female only models - particularly those enemies found on the way to the Maiden of Virtue - most of which would transform into a Banshee or Succubus at low health. This PTR update changes many of those mobs to include male versions with new or gender neutral transformations, and although not every pack now contains male and female models, the area as a whole is a bit more diverse than it was before.
The
Cameriera Lussuriosa
has been renamed Wanton Host, and now transforms into a gender neutral Wraith instead of a Banshee.
The
Signora della Notte
is unchanged, but there is also now a male version called the Night Lord.
The
Spasimante Zelante
has been split into two mobs - females are now called Zealous Paramour and will continue to transform into a Succubus, while the males are Zealous Consort and now become a Satyr.
Ironically, the Throne of Thunder
Twin Consorts were renamed Twin Empyreans
, though these mobs still retain the title.
Like previous updates to tone down sexuality in
vanilla paintings
, and remove sexual innuendos from
item
and
achievement
names, these are fairly simple changes that likely don't require much in the way of effort or development time, though it's interesting that Blizzard is spending time on them in the first place. The painting and
Big Love Rocket
X-45 Heartbreaker
mount changes in particular were viciously mocked by players on social media for appearing to be a solution to something that wasn't perceived to be a problem - updating very old and obscure images that most people were never aware of in the first place - unlike the Den of Mortal Delights in the Black Temple, which is an
actual harem filled with concubines and courtesans
that virtually every player has been through.
At least they don't discriminate.
That said, the change within Karazhan is better thought out to create more a diverse assortment of enemies, rather than simply renaming the concubine or replacing it with a bowl of fruit, though there's still some question regarding how many players this change affects, what exactly it accomplishes, and why such old content is being prioritized more than a decade after its introduction to the game. Whatever the case, Blizzard seems keen on continuing to update various parts of the game, however obscure or minor they may be, although it should be noted that these most recent changes addressing vanilla and TBC content have only been seen on the retail PTR - while Classic clients so far remain unchanged. We can presume these PTR changes will eventually make their way into Classic as well, much like the
renaming of several items and NPCs
, though whether that will happen in a hotfix or future phase remains to be seen.
