Clarification on how exactly this transmute works was just posted

Typically, when you use Transmute: Living Elements, you will receive 14-16 random Volatile elements (Volatile Air, Volatile Earth, Volatile Water, or Volatile Fire) in exchange for 15 Volatile Life.
If you use this transmute
while in one of the new Cataclysm zones
associated with the Elemental Planes, however, the element into which your Volatile Life will transform will be predetermined. For example, if you use Transmute: Living Elements while in Uldum, you will always receive Volatile Air for your efforts.
Mount Hyjal:
Volatile Fire
Vashj'ir:
Volatile Water
Deepholm:
Volatile Earth
Uldum:
Volatile Air
Additionally, alchemists with Transmutation specialization will have a
chance
to receive bonus Volatile elements when completing this transmute. The bonus will be random, though, regardless of which zone you are in.

The "random" element you get can actually be determined by the zone you are in. Here's a list of the affected zones and their corresponding Volatile elements:
* Mount Hyjal:
Volatile Fire
* Vashj'ir:
Volatile Water
* Deepholm:
Volatile Earth
* Uldum:
Volatile Air

Does this share a cooldown with Transmute: Truegold?

I transmuted truegold today and then checked the CD on Living Elements. It reads 20 hours 19 minutes. So I surmise that it does have a shared transmute with Truegold.

Indeed, the extra procs as Transmute master are a chance.
We're aware that performing Transmute: Living Elements while in Deepholm does not currently yield any Volatile Earth and are working to apply a hotfix as we speak.
Please note that once this hotfix is applied, you will no longer receive both Volatile Air and Volatile Earth when using the transmute in Uldum. Instead, you will only receive Volatile Air (excluding bonus procs). This was an unintended side-effect and will be addressed shortly. Thanks!

That might have been a little confusing, but my post above is completely correct.

The 14 Volatile Air and 14 Volatile Earth when doing this transmute in Uldum was a bug related to alchemists getting no Volatile Earth when transmuting in Deepholm. This has since been hotfixed, as I tried this last night and only received the Volatile Airs. This blue post explains.

Ive done this a dozen times or so in Org and always get Volatile Earth. Just bad luck or is Org predetermined as earth?

This is actually the only thing that makes money during skill-up.
If you get earth, it's a juicy profit, fire, notsomuch.
Truegold is probably more profitable at 525, but L.E. is the only thing you make gold on during the process.

Did a transmute today and received:
Volatile Air x15
Volatile Water x14
Transmute specced. I didn't know you could proc an entire new batch of volatiles.

Volatile Air x14

As a few others lately have added it can give extra bonus if you are a transmutation master.
I just did this in Uldum and received 14 x Volatile Air and 19 x Volatile Fire. The last 4 days on 2 x alchemists i only got the normal 14-16 volatile air. I think it is something they added today with server maintenance.

Okay, I just made this for the first time since I realized that volatile air was so hard to get right now and I had a ton of volatile life from farming herbs. I have 525 alchemy xmute speced on my mage main. I went to Uldum and completed the transmutation. I noticed afterward that the cooldown says only 10 minutes and 50 seconds. I wonder if this is an error since other people are claiming hours instead of just minutes...I'm going to try transmuting again to see what the cooldown says the second time and I'll update it here.
Update: So it seems the second time I did the transmute I got a 24 hour cd. Maybe since I'm transmutation specced, they allowed a second xmute or something? Or it could just be a glitch. Anyway, It might not happen again for me but I just thought I'd post it here to let others know :P

Many trade cooldowns now reset at midnight server time so if you did the transmute close to that time then your cooldown will be short. No second cooldowns for Transmute master.
Even when you have Transmute mastery, the bonus transmute (getting an extra set of approx 15 volitales) only happens occasionally, not every time. It's random some some ppl could get it twice in a row but it's quite unlikely.
I also did my usually Living Elements Transmute in Uldum today and for the first time I did not get Volatile Airs...got Fires instead I believe. Don't know if it's a bug or if perhaps I wasn't quite in the Uldum zone. I haven't quested there yet so I have been flying into the southern Tarnaris FP and then flying over the border onto the cliffs overlooking Uldum and doing the transmute there. This is worked up until today.

Just learned this transmute on my level 81 alchemist. I haven't been very far into Cataclysm zones, so I was concerned that I'd be able to find a safe spot to do the transmutation given my alchemist's relatively low level.
At the south edge of Tanaris there's the Valley of the Watchers. Inside are level 49 neutral golems, and nothing else. The zone read Uldum, and the transmutation provided Volatile Air. So I suspect that this is a viable alternative for any alchemist that's not quite ready for the hostile enemies sure to be found in Uldum proper.
Edit:
Note that at the time of writing this comment, I wasn't sure if there would be anything hostile flying around in Uldum. There are a few carrion birds that fly around in the southern parts of the zone, but the majority of the zone is safe for any character with flight. A level 60 with flying should be easily able to find Ramkahen and unlock the flight point there, so the Valley of the Watchers should never be necessary.

Use your level 80 to do all transmutes:
Fire (Hyjal) - Take the breadcrumb quest there and do a few quests to get the portal
Water (Vash'ir) - Same
Air (Uldum) - Fly by mount from Tanaris and get flight path at Ramkahen. Be sure to pick up the one at Dawnrise Expedition in Tanaris if you want to be able to take a flight from Orgrimmar.
Earth (Deepholm) - Get two friends to summon you at Stonecore then set your hearth to the inkeeper at Temple of the Earth. You can always port to Orgrimmar at the temple.

Did my daily xmute in Uldum today (patch 4.0.6 release day), and got the following:
Volatile Air x16
Volatile Fire x3
Yes, three (3). All prior procs have been something like Water x14 or Earth x19. I don't know if this is a bug or "feature," but just FYI.

On all three of my Transmute Spec alchs, I got similar (I think they were all 3). My elixir spec did not get anything extra. I'm assuming it's not technically a bug, one of the blues mentioned that transmute specs doing Living Elements would "always" get something, but then retracted that statement saying it would be a proc. Maybe with the patch they were able to make it so transmutes would always get a bonus?
I'm assuming we can still proc, can someone confirm that transmute spec will still proc extras (not the x3 but the x15+) and if you get the +3 in addition to that or not.
It seems this is intentional:
I wanted to hop in and clarify and confirm there was in fact a change that was implemented with the patch that unfortunately did not make the patch notes.
The change actually adjusted the return on the transmutes so that you weren't getting spikes in the amount of items you'd get from the transmute. Instead, if you transmute over a period of time, the amount of the transmute return should even out.
So basically if you transmute on a regular basis, you should see a more regular return on the transmute vs. a spike in large returns. Transmutation specialists will almost always get a PROC when transmuting living elements.

Procced Volatile Fire x4 as of 4.0.6 today.
Does not proc x14-16 of other random volatiles.

I have x10 transmuters, seems like with the 4.0.6 patch I'm proccing more frequently, probably 20-30% but only receiving x3-x4 of a random cata element. Before it would be a ~10% proc rate but I'd get x14-x16 with the proc.

Yes, they totally nerfed this.... I used to proc every other time or so, maybe 1 in 3, and I HAD gotten one 2 proc, where I got the original mute and like 31 additional airs, so not pleased. Yes it's more consistent now, but man, seeing those 16 X Fire AND 15 X Air was just so gratifying =/

I have a xmute master that prior to 4.06, this almost never proc'ed for me. When it did, it was essentially double the yield. Since 4.06, this procs all the time, but less of the second, random yield. Overall, I like this way better as it seems to yield more overall.

In my experience, coming from someone who typically uses his transmute cooldown for profit rather than utilizing the materials for crafting, this has been a more lucrative way to use my cooldown for the day than transmuting Truegold. With the increased yield transmutation masters are seeing every time with this transmute since 4.0.6, coupled with the declining prices of Truegold across all servers I've checked (and the static prices I've seen with Volatile Air), I've just been going to Uldum and doing this every day and turning a solid profit. You can even purchase the Volatile Life necessary for relatively cheap (again, in my experience) rather than taking the time to farm and still end up with a decent chuck of change.

Question to fellow transmuters. Would doing this transmute proc a Discovery for other transmutes?

It was nerfed in 4.1. Seems that before, each of 15 volatiles procced independenly, thus high output. Now it's single transmute, so most of times you get 14 to 16 volatiles without any extra.
評論來自
vengfulr3ap3r
They nerfed it so that it was less "spikey" e.g. now you get 4 here, 4 there, 3 here, 5 there. vs two extra stacks if you do the trasmutation all week. It's less punishing if you miss a transmute. Something I did notice on the other hand was before 4.1 if I transmuted in uldum I would of course get volatile air, But the extra's was almost ALWAYS air as well. Now it seems I get every other volatile except the one I was transmuting.
It seem's like they fixed it so if you transmute air the proc will rarely be the volatile you were aiming for. It really kinda sucks. Has anyone else noticed this?
Edit: To clarify to the posts below saying they can proc more then 3-4, im aware of that I was simply giving an example as to HOW the transmutation procs had changed. So you get procs steadily vs bursty.

Herbalism grants you a TON of volatile life. I don't have 525 alchemy just yet and I am always looking for someone in the trade district who can and I tip. If you have alchemy 525 make sure you post in trade, there is money to be made.

could i not make volatile earth so much when i do this transmute? volatile earth is the least valuable out of all elements. i would be happy if i only received volatile earth 3 out of 5 transmutes because it would be an improvement over the current 4 out of 5 transmutes. not much to ask is it?

Personally, I think Blizzard did an incredible job of making alchemists a GREAT profession, and balancing the market.
As this spell shares a cooldown with Truegold, and Transmute: Truegold was valued over Transmute: Living Elements, no one would ever use the Living Elements transmute. However, as we all know, one volatile would always get too expensive. (50g Volatile Airs anyone?)
As most of us know, you can go to the respective zone (Hyjal - Fire) (Deepholm - Earth) (Uldum - Air) (Vash'jir - Water) to get a volatile of your choice, so this spell, Transmute: Living Elements, essentially always gives you the Volatile you want. (The one that gives you the most gold)
Because of this, alchemists ALWAYS make money. Back when Truegold was the s***, if all the Volatiles were reasonably priced, you'd make great gold from Truegold, especially with procs. They aren't moderately priced, though? Use Living Elements, and make great use of the cheap Volatile Life that exists on every server, or the herbalist that you raised to 525 with alchemy. Either way, alchemists always make money, and they always will.
And that, my friend, is one example of why Alchemy is the best profession in World of Warcraft.
