Since insect swarm was added to balance, it helps add another DOT to the balance specced druids. This does take away the help from restoration specced druids, but it also allows them to concentrate more on healing and other talents that are more useful to them.

Insect swarm is useful to help in groups and soloing to add some more damage to the targets over time on your end, not much though, and also helps to decrease the target's chance to hit. As far as PvP, this really isn't a good power to actively use.

Restoration druids in Cata:

Note that Insect Swarm is considerably cheaper than Moonfire or the very expensive Regrowth. Use your free haste trinket (1-minute cd) from Nature's Grace wisely while you wait for Tree of Life (3-minute cd) to become available.

If you're turning Cat/Bear... You're most likely means you're feral... So why would you get the resto talents for this? =P

I didn't get Rank 1 when i was lvl 20.... :(
I didn't get Rank 2 when i was lvl 30.... :(

I use Druid trainer in Thunder Bluff.

What i can figure out is the talent in the Restoration tree. But, i'm building my Balanced tree :)

Anyone know how to reach (or get) this Talent without rebuilding my talent tree?

Dude, it does a moderate amount of damage, but lowers the target's accuracy! What else do you want! It makes your job easier as a resto druid. If your teammates take less damage, you spend less mana putting them back together, lol.

even as a feral druid, i still have nature's swiftness. since you need 20 points in the resto tree, this isn't bad to have. giving innervate at 40 really made the feral druid a viable option.

Or inscect swarm, then Dire bear form. It all works out. Don't flame me ive never had a Druid, but it looks like it works in theory. :P

this spell is going to be moved to the balance tree instead of Omen of Clarity in TBC. i think this is good because we dont need Omen of Clarity so much, so im happy:9

This is a very helpful spell. I first capture my target with entangling roots, then cast faerie fire, next I put the insect swarm, then moonfire, and last starfire, if I have mana left then I either go attack them in bear form or cat form, depending at which state thier health is. Another one that I like is Hibernate, when facing a hunter you put thier pet to sleep, best in battlegrounds too =]

It's not in the balance tree (as it should). Insect swarm is low mana cost, doesn't have a chance of breaking roots, good damage and gives them a smaller chance of hitting (which is slighlty useful). I always use this in every one of my fights. Rogues can't vanish with this either.

It does a good amount of Dmg..Rouges cant vanish..low Mana Cost..and best of all INSTANT CAST..what more do u want?

and yes it is good for PVP..at leas for me..the way i play is Throw dots on every one..if u dontplay like that it may be no help

thing i like most about this ability is that it can be used while you're running away, you don't need to be facing the enemy to use it!

This spell is pretty good for its DoT effect alone, but the -2% to enemy hit shines brighter than the sun when you have a tank with high avoidance stats in a raid.

For some reason my combat log says that Insect Swarm deals Spellstorm damage.
Is this a typo or is Insect Swarm bugged (Pun unintended).
