I just had a nice experience with potion master, seems it is not limited to only potions but also procs off elixirs

I collected the following mats:
100 Netherbloom
70 Dreaming Glory
85 Felweed
20 Nightmare Vines
20 Terocone

This should have yielded the following
50 Super Mana Potions
35 Super Healing Potions
10 Fel Strength Elixirs
Instead I got the following
59 Super Mana Potions
53 Super Healing Potions
15 Fel Strength Elixirs

Using an addon to count the proc for several weeks (AlchemyFu)

I got this results :
mats for 672 potions
>> 781 obtained
approximatly : 16% procrate

Most are x2 procs

I belive potion mastery to be the most "weak"
Low profits rate in anyways you see it.
self profit, AH profits low .
even in Haste,destrucrtion,insanse str and so one to the "mighty" pots of the game,
so far the elixirs tent to be kinda better.
or the xmute.
cant deside.

I, personally, am loving Potion Mastery. It procs quite often and the results are always helpful.

Just tonight I bought some cheap mats for Haste Potion on the AH, and got a x5 proc on one of them. It's also helpful to my guild mates, as they can bring me their potion mats and I will yield more Health/Mana pots than the expected.

From what i heard the master alchemy things or rather sub-classes the bonus stuff is 1-5
So brewing 1 potion you can get 1-6 potions
Brewing 1 elixir can get you 1-6 potions
Making 1 transmute can get you 1-6 tranmute (I have heard it works on Primal Might)

Apparently, despite the "high-level" limitation in the description of this ability, it WILL proc for recipes introduced prior to TBC.

My potion master has been making a number of healing and mana potions for a low-level alt, and getting procs from them.

I'm actually disappointed with the Potion master in Wotlk. The proc rate seems to be lower than it used to be. Runic mana potions are a bit cheaper than the ingridients for them. And since I don't get almost any procs it's more profitable to sell the mats on AH.

I learned Potion of Wild Magic through the research thing, but they don't sell at all on our AH. The mats are expensive so the price is pretty high. No profit so far...

I think Potion Mastery got nerfed at some stage. I use to be one, but it would only proc for me about 5% occurrence and only 1 extra pot. This also continued to happen to me for weeks on end, so I deserted Alchemy altogether...

Besides the sounding of the other success stories out there, IMO Pot Master is not worth it, that being if you copped the same or similar amount of luck (lack of...) as I did.

Don't forget you can switch at any time between Potions / Elixer / Transmutation for the minimal fee of 150 Gold * from the current master trainer you received it from * I myself have switched between Elixer & Xmute very often, depending on what i required to produce for the guild.

I just made pots with mats for 240 and got 297, which is about a 23% proc rate (this might be higher than average). Most procs are x2, but I've had up to x5. If you are making just a few, you may not see any procs, but over a period of time the RNG should pay off.

I think the Potion Master spec is highly underrated. I used to stick with the Elixir Mastery because of all the comments and guides out there. But I didn't find it very profitable on my server (I might be wrong about other servers).
This must be the least demanding spec there is. I climbed from 100g to 1,5k in 3 days after just by making pots!
The Indestructible Potions only needs Icethorn and vials! A stack of Icethorn goes for about 20g/stack on my server. And then they're @#$%ass expensive.
You need 2 stacks of Icethorn which equals 40g + the vials. And these are selling for over 60g so it would've been profitable even without the procs!
The only problem I got now is when I mass produce. The Pygmy Suckerfish are really hard to get for a decent price.

Made 278 golemblood potions, proc x3 once, proc x5 once, rest were x2. In the end i got 313 potions.
Sucks IMO. Ive had way more procs as elixir master making flasks.

Made 210 Volcano pots and yielded 260. A good number of 4s and 5s, only a few 2s (and of course a ton of singles), but over 20% overall isn't bad.

To unlearn and learn a new Potion , transmution and Elixir master

Lilyssia Nightbreeze <Alchemy Trainer> In SW coords 55.66,85.98 . Has the three quest you need Potion , transmution and Elixir master. Alot better than going to Outlands . Thanks to a Gm that help me get the quest to show up after opening a ticket

Bring a variety to an alchemy trainer in any capital city.

As of 4.3.0, Transmutation Master, Potion Master and Elixir Master now have different requirements to learn/change your specialization.

Instead of paying 150 gold to change, it is now changed to 450 gold.

Bring the requested materials to an alchemy trainer in any capital city.

Transmutation Master
Requirement:
* Truegold x 4

Potion Master
Requirement:
* Mythical Healing Potion x 6
* Mythical Mana Potion x 6
* Potion of Treasure Finding x 2

Elixir Master
Requirement:
* Flask of the Draconic Mind x 2
* Flask of the Winds x 2
* Flask of Steelskin x 2
* Flask of Titanic Strength x 2

The process for changing alchemy specs has changed!

You no longer have to visit any of the npcs in BC, it can all be done in your home city.

- First, to unlearn your current spec there is a button on your Professions tab in your spellbook that says "Unlearn this specialization."

- Second, you return to your alchemy trainer and accept the appropriate quest for the new spec. They are: Elixir Master, Potion Master, and Transmutation Master. Complete the quest and you earn the new specialization.

Thankfully they made this change, but the only thing worse than the old method of flying to BC locations is flying there for no reason. Please vote this up so people can find the info easily.

So I decided to make all of our potions for the month at once, and track procs.

Volcanic: 1960 casts, 369 procs, 18.8% +/- 0.88%
Concentration: 490 casts, 107 procs, 21.8% +/- 1.87%
Golemblood: 980 casts, 203 procs, 20.7% +/- 1.29%
Tol'vir: 980 casts, 196 procs, 20.0% +/- 1.28%

Total: 4410 casts, 875 procs, 19.8% +/- 0.60%

It's looking a lot like 20%.

As of 4.3, you can no longer learn or unlearn transmutation mastery from npcs in the outland. You now unlearn your alchemy specialization by clicking on the red circle next to it in the professions window, and learn them from quests given by alchemy trainers.

So here's my question about mastery: Once you've done the new quests with the new mats, can you change again for a nominal fee, or does it require you to once again do the quest and provide the truegold/pots/flasks?

It could get pricey for those of us that change mastery every now and then.

How do you learn this nowadays I went to the npc in zangarmarsh and there is no quest. Only quest i found from NPCs is the gem quest in dalaran.

Edit: Found it. Be aware that the quests do not become available till around the 450 to 475 area (not sure when exactly it showed up for me, just before you get to mythical mana pots).

The quest is now found in Stormwind and your main cities. At the Alchemy trainer. Somewhere after 375.

After making 10 potions, it made an extra potion 20% of the time. Of course this may not be accurate since I need a bigger sample size.

This mastery KICKS ASS. I get extra potions all the time and the herbs for potions aren't as rare as they are for elixirs. I make loads of money and with the money that I make I can buy elixirs for raids and still have cash over.

I had enough mats for exactly 60 super mana potions. I started making them and by the end I made 87 :D

That's +27 free potions. Pretty decent if you ask me.

Over the past few weeks, I've kept records of the number of crafts and bonuses that I've generated when crafting super mana potions

Number of crafts: 6774
Number potions created: 8229

Total # of extras = 1455 or 21.48% extra

Using some somewhat dodgy math that I haven't done in years (Beta distribution with alpha = 1454 and beta = 5318), the actual bonus rate has a 90% chance of falling between 20.8% and 22.1%.

Note that I've made no distinction between x2, x3, x4, and x5 procs, I'm only looking at the total number of bonuses. Unfortunately, due to the way that potions only stack to groups of 5, I found that trying to document what the actual procs were was too tedious. Potions often try to fill a stack, so a x4 proc might look like x3 and a x1 in the log, since it's trying to complete a preexisting stack. As such, the chance that any given craft will generate a bonus proc is lower than this percentage. We're looking at a 17% to 18% chance of receiving some kind of bonus on any given cast.

In case any one is wondering, 6774 vials @ .32g each is 2167.68g. Gold sinks are real, so make sure to buy these vials from a reputation vendor that you're exalted with, and make sure people give you the vials if they're asking you to craft for them.
