The usefulness of this ability isn't very apparent to most, but if you look at your moves, their energy costs are as such so that you can't chain certain moves together. Vigor lets certain moves that couldn't be chained normally be used without having to wait on your energy.

Cheapshot is 60 energy, and Sinister Strike is 45 (without talents), so if you're full Assassination, and have Vigor, you can Cheapshot and then Sinister Strike without having to wait for energy. This is something a Combat or Subtly Rogue couldn't do.

You could also Ambush (Cold Blood'd, if you fancy) for 60 energy and then Sinister Strike for 45. Or you could Ambush for 60 energy and Gouge for 45. You could also Backstab for 60 and then Sinister Strike for 45 if you were in a PvE situation and need some "right now" dps.

Vigor isn't a talent that you take "and forget". It doesn't do much passively, but it does let you do things you couldn't before, and if you take the opportunity to learn your new options, you'll get a lot more out of the talent than if you just got it thinking it'll make you "better", and forgetting about it.

I was wondering if since this makes ur energy pool larger, does it also make the energy regen slightly higher as well, beacuse im not sure if the regen is baced on a % of your max energy or just a fixed number.

With the set bonus from the merc gear you can have up to 120 energy with this talent.

With a recent update to the talent builds, once Wrath goes live this talent will be available in tier 3 of the assassination tree making it possible to get 110 energy without having to go so far down, this is in my opinion a pretty significant buff to dagger sub specs.

Why not just make it so rogues have a default of 110 energy if they put it that far up in the tree.

If you are pve spec, i see no real point in taking Vigor. The second you use your first attack, vigor becomes useless. Also with the new energy changes, its even more useless. You restore 10 energy per second (i think) anyway. It was handy in old backstab builds when soloing, but i cant see me taking a point out of any other talent to get this.

I really wish they would put this back on the 7th tier. I feel that with relentless strikes moving to sub, Blizzard wants to make it so Sub is the only way they want you to go for PvP. I personally am a Mutilate fan, but with most of the recent changes I feel like it would be a bad move to go Mutilate.

With 120 energy wearing Tier 2 Gladiator set you can Ambush and Backstab instantly and if both of them crit and Initiative talent works you'll have 5 combo points for only 2 skills, then you can use Cold Blood and strike with Eviscerate, totally Ambush+Backstab+Eviscerate (3 criticals)=enormous damage

A new rogue glyph increases energy granted by vigor by 10.

with that major glyph and gladiator 4 piece you can now have 130 energy

It appears that Vigor is now (patch 3.0.3) in tier 3 of the assassination talent tree, and only requires 11 talent points to get it. This also means that level 20+ rogues will be able to have 110 energy. Seeing as nobody mentioned that, i thought i should.

You can go very deep into Combat and still get Vigor. This means up to 130 maximum energy if you choose to use the pvp set bonus (4) and the glyph, and the fast regen from Combat talents.
I took a minute to make an example talent spec to illustrate. Its most likely not a satisfactory build to an experienced rogue, but I tried, and you can see how easy it was to get vigor and still max a lot of Combat talents.

I've never played a rogue beyond level 40 but I assume this would give you mad crazy deeps in level 80 pvp, yo.

To all who think Vigor is useless in PvE:
Consider yourself in a frequent situation of being CCed or kicked away or anything that makes your energy go over the cap. With Vigor talented, you can either get back to fight without reaching the energy cap, or start the fight with 10 more than without... glyphed with 20 more.
