The proc seems weak. Only a 15% chance and the dot takes 10 second to complete its duration. A lot of trash won't even last that long. They really should have made this a direct damage AoE like the trinket from the same raid.

As a boomkin I am absolutely loving this. When I won it I was a bit shocked and nearly felt bad as I'm not terribly far from finishing my legendary staff, but I kept it to see how I'd like it. I have had it proc every single time I use shrooms, hurricane or starfall. It makes up a fair amount of my dps on aoe. I like having a macro to switch out to it and my offhand for things like the aoe phase on Yor'sahj.

On my mage, under the least ideal condition (single target), the proc accounted for roughly 2% of my total damage done over the course of 6 minute against training dummy. That's simply 2% DPS increase, which equates to about 520 DPS. The problem is that this doesn't scale very well with gear (only with crit).

Very usefull when farming old dungeons for whatever reason.. (Cloth etc.)

Also the damage Molten Armor ( Molten Armor) deals to attackers when hit, apparently counts as a spellcast and causes Blast of Corruption (the effect of the dagger) to proc.

have it on my elemental shaman. tested it on dummy units, have some calculations here.
uptime of DoT is about 33%, can be critical. made about 2.5% damage, that gave me profit of ~550 dps, not sure if that is better than any of secondary stats.
When spamming chain lightning on 4 dummy units, DoT made 5.1% of overall damage, that was actually about 1685 dps, that is slightly better, though DS is not crowded by AoE fights, so profit of this proc is not awesome

Apparently Polymorph can trigger the effect, making it a quite dangerous weapon when you need to CC... I'd imagine Fear and other similar mechanics work the same.

Scales down on resilience targets, did some testing with a warrior in 4.3k resi kit:

Dummy: 1543 dmg / 2 sec. 7715 dmg total.
Resi target: 850 dmg / 2 sec. 4250 dmg total.

As a pvp warlock, I see this weapon useful for comps like Shadowplay. Especially because warlocks are mostly not the best target in 3v3, they will probably go for your healer. You can do with less resilience. RLS/MLS might be a pain since smart players will use the proc to break blind/polymorph, although its very tricky to time well.

Since it is a weapon you can always get T1/T2 pvp weapon, when your opponents run TSG or and cleave combo, you can switch into more resilience on demand in the arena.

I am having the proc cause unintentional side effects soon after obtaining it. For example, the poison gets applied to a cc'd target which then breaks the cc or worse pulls an additional pack. In Magisters Terrace near the entrance fighting the first large packs and the proc is being applied to the group of bosses you face before Kael'thas on the floor below. It's out of control.

@ bigzee2uk i would suggest the Orb of the First Satyr for your offhand as it is a very overpowered item stats wise, failing that possibly the Demonic Skull *Reforge the spirit into Haste*

any increased magic damage, damage or nature damage increases the proc's damage (obv), as stated by others, doesnt scale with anything else (sp, crit, haste etc etc)
a quick list of effects that increase nature damage i could come up with is: (i wont add spells/effects that increase all ur spell/ or damage like Owlkin Frenzy Shadow Power Mana Adept
elemental shamans: Elemental Mastery Elemental Precision
balance druid: Moonfury Balance of Power Moonkin Form Eclipse (Solar)

In the comments for normal version of Rathrak, they say ICD is 15 seconds with 15% chance to proc per spellcast - dots do not proc it.

Can crit, but is not benefitting from spellpower nor haste.
