It takes 310 in Skinning to skin The Beast. Basically he drops that dagger so that you can skin him & have a chance to get 比斯巨獸的皮 which is 1 of the components you need for one of the following Epic items

Remember, this knife will add +10 to skinning but to skin some of the epic like Oynixa, you need to have an additional +5 to skinning. So don't forget to find someone who can enchant your old gloves!

The only skinning enchant is +5 to skinning, and you need 310 skinning to skin The Beast. So yes, Finkle's is a requirement to be able to skin The Beast. Been at 305 skinning for months now and still haven't seen Finkle's drop. =(

If you need the +10 skinning and can equip a sword there is also the Zulian Slicer from the high priest Thekal in Zul Gurub.
44.8 dps, chance on hit 72-96 nature damage to target, +12 attack power, +10 skinning.
For classes that can not use a dagger you may want to suggest to them to go for that one.

Ok now i'm just gonna get things straight.
This dagger is not for fighting because.

1. it does not have any stats or special abilities.

2. there is much better daggers out there

3. then there is the fact that ALL skinners need this, it's the only way to skin the beast (which can drop the hide for epic item quests) and it's also the only way to skin the hounds in MC.

Basicly what i want to say is that all none skinners rolling on this because it's fast, or because it's "good" dps are jerks, and proberly just ninja's.

In case you rogues out there havn't noticed, this thing has really dodgy weapon stats. It's obviously not intended to be used as a weapon, and skinners should always get the higher priority to roll when this drops. 4 drops + 4 rogues = torrent of abuse and 4 people added to my ignore list. Use your head or I'll be need rolling your shadowcraft. I could use a bit more agility since the elements set doesnt give enough.

I won this in UBRS yesterday, (60 rogue with 300 skinning), but i was advised to not use itm over my electified dagger and life force dirk.

It doesnt matter if you are a rogue or not, skinners should get the first priority.

Atm, i just keep this in my inv waiting for another high level skinning instance.

Ok, I wrote a simple macro on how to switch from your normal gloves and weapon to your skinning gloves and weapon. This is useful if you need to do alot of 300+ skinning, for example if you need to skin core hounds in MC, and you need to do constant switching.

/script PickupContainerItem(4,15);

/script PickupInventoryItem(16);
/script PickupContainerItem(4,16);

Ofcourse this macro will not work for you, you will need to adjust the numbers to work for your configuration. Here's how :

* Macro Line 1 : Change the number 4 to the number of bag your gloves are in. Your bags are counted like this : your backpack is always bag number 0, and the bag closest to your latency meter is 4. So your bags are in this order : 4 3 2 1 0. Then change the number 15 to the number of slot your skinning gloves are in that bag. Bag slots are just counted the normal way, from left to right like you were reading a book. My gloves were in the second to last slot in my bag, hence the number 15.

* Macro Line 2 : This line doesn't need changing, it refers to the item you equip to your hands.

* Macro Line 3 : Don't change this either, it refers to the weapon equipped in your main hand (also works for 2handed-weapons).

* Macro Line 4 : Again, change the number 4 to the number of bag your skinning knife is in, as explained in step 1. Change the number 16 to the number of slot your knife is in that bag. In this case, 16 refers to the last (bottom right) slot of a 16-slot bag.

Additional notes : This macro will work with Finkle's Skinner, as well as Zulian Slicer. It switches between normal weapon + normal gloves and skinning knife + skinning gloves. It will also easily handle the switch between a 2-handed weapon and your skinning knife.

Since 5 points in Skinning equals 1 point in mob level, the highest level mobs you could skin without any bonuses, pre-BC, was lvl 60. Since there were a few level 62 mobs in the game, Finkle's was required to skin them.

Now post-BC, the highest level mob you can skin with this knife is level 77. But there aren't any level 77 mobs in this game, or any level 75s for that matter. So it seems there's no point in keeping this knife anymore.

Paladins cannot equip daggers, and yes you have to have it equipped to get the bonus. So paladin skinners are out of luck. This is a nice dagger however it is "main hand" only, which makes it IMHO useless to a rogue. Rogues want a slow main hand weapon for the attack power bonus for using slow weaps.

Why Blizzard, why make this a main hand weapon only? It would of been such a great offhand.

There is a sword that drops in Zul'Gurub in the 1.7 patch that gives +10 to skinning. Something lots of ppl will want though.

As many have said in this thread already, if you are not a LW/Skinner, or a Skinner who can equip this dagger, you have no business rolling on this item. Rogues, there are better daggers for Damage out there. If you are a Rogue that happens to be a 300 Skinner/LW, Sure Roll need! if you are a Rogue, who is an Alch/Herbalist and you roll Need over a Skinner/LW because you want a dagger that is inferior in Dmg to most daggers you can get at lvl 55, may you be cursed...

The Dmg is low on this weapon, because people need it for the Buffs on it. Recognize that and nod your head, and smile.

Good luck to all you out there in my predicament, who have had people roll against you, when they haven't the Skinning ability, and have a Barman's shanker, at that >.<

The key to this dagger is in the name, "Skinner". As a previous poster noted that If you use this dagger with the glove enchant, you get 315 skinning skill. Consequently in order to loot "core Leather" you need a "gasp" 315 skill. The fack that this is a main hand only dagger isn't a blunder on Blizzards part.

As a hunter with 300 skinning/300 DS leatherworking, I'm glad this is main hand only. The last thing I need is to finally see it drop, only to have non skinning rogues rolling on it to use as an offhand.
This is for 300 skinners. As somone before said, high end skining is made harder by NEEDING this to skin a ton of high end mobs. It should go to skinners, not to some rogue too cheap to buy a Julies Dagger for his offhand.

As stated by everyone else below, the dagger does not specify "Class: Rogue" so therefore the dagger is open to all classes. I personally am a Rogue and a skinner/leatherworker, for the rogues rolling on this dagger and don't have skinning, please give the dagger to the skinner/leatherworker. The low drop rate coupled with everyone else rolling for the dagger (including rogues) makes the end game leatherworking professions very hard. Which points me to my other issue. If you have just skinning for farming, please don't roll on this over someone with skinning/leatherworking. I know you want to make all that extra money in MC and Onxyia runs but the leatherworkers that use the stuff you skin need it too and we prefer not to pay the gouged prices. I am still waiting for this dagger to drop and win it. (I have run this instance nearly 90 times unsuccessfully, it has only dropped twice, both times going to other skinning/leatherworking characters. But I am fine with that. They won them fair and square.) If you really want to take anything out of this post, it is this. The proper order which this dagger should be rolled for is first by those with both skinning and leatherworking and then by those with just skinning and then by rogues. After that it's a free for all. Rogues, this may seem disappointing but there are better daggers out there.

Got this on either my second or third visit to UBRS, only skinners were allowed to roll, much to one rogue's annoyance. Coincidentally enough, I was planning to give up skinning as it goes but now I'm my guild's No.1 skinner! Hopefully, I'll be able to get a Pristine Hide of the Beast with it soon...

About 2 nights ago this dropped finally after about 20+ runs and was consquently ninjaed by a complete tool of a dwarf hunter named Wiege who cheerfully informed us after rolling need on the skinner with all the 300 skinners in the party, and winning the roll with 99, that in fact, his skinning was level 0 and he had zero intent to raise it. Then laughed at us and was promptly kicked from the group to a chorus of angry, angry skinners. F**king a**hole.

Next day, another UBRS run with the guild and a few pick-ups this time, but I'm not expecting to see it drop twice in a row - i went about 20 times before it even dropped once, after all.. we get to the beast and down him -- and what drops? Finkles! And I guess luck was on my side, because I not only saw it drop twice in a row, but won the roll with a 69 and beat out 3 nonguild skinners - but I am beyond psyched to have this new toy.

k i'm a hunter with 300 skinning amd some close to 300 for leatherworking... i rolled on this dagger b/c it was an upgrade and i'm Skin/LW... i got booted from the group is there something that i missed about this dagger? The rouge in my group (which can't wear mail) was skinning all the dragons scales (which im in the middle of doing my dragonscale LW quest) and got mad at me and booted me for rolling on the dagger... was i wrong to roll on it (i won it btw)

1 thing that anoyes me big time are rogues "needing" this dagger for their epic quest...
as far as i know is that the Pristine Hide of the Beast is not BoP, therefor they do NOT need the dagger to skin the beast... the item can be given away when skinned through a roll of needers(usually the case)... if not needed then a roll of skinners who can skin it(310+ skinners) following to that are the greedy ppl.

being a skinner 305 now, i know what a pain in the ass it can be to get to skinning 315, for that reason only, the price should be the higher priority of roll over the PHotB than the greedy ppl. i can realy relate to that.

but me, being nice and all and "serving the community" when i am the only 310+ skinner in raid, i would roll with others just so i wouldnt look like a complete a**hole... afterall, community rep count more that gold, imo... if only more ppl would think that and wow would be a better community than it already is ;P

This is a decent pre-raid dagger for Muti Rogues in Classic SOD even if doesn't have the stats. It has a good speed and DPS. One fault I did find though, is it breaks pretty quickly after one or 2 deaths. So when going raiding and if the raid doesn't have sufficient repair bots, bring a spare weapon!

Frustratingly it acts as a skinning knife for anything at or below your skinning skill level, but you have to weapon swap if the mobs are over skill level 300. I know it clearly says that the +10 skinning is on equip, but having to swap weapons mid raid in order to skin the mobs is inconvenient.

Also +1 for everyone saying that they still call it Finkle's Skinner. Changing the name of such an iconic item was dumb on the part of Blizzard.
