The Imperial Plate Armor. Every tankers dream. Problem is just, it does take quite a large amount of Thorium, and Star Ruby's as well.

In my opinion if you like sets then this is the first set to obtain for a warrior, followed by the Battlegear of Valor and on to (via upgrade) the Battlegear of Heroism. The Imperial Plate full set is a 7 piece set but extras are given for 2, 4, and 6, nothing for 7, as there are no gauntlets for this set , I found the Gauntlets of Valor to go well with this set and as I mentioned extras for 6 pieces only, if you obtain the Belt of Valor or the Bracers of Valor (all three valor items are bind when equip so available in AH) then you can benefit from the 3 set bonuses of the Imperial Plate and the +200 Armor of the Valor set. Giving +300 Armor. I found the Traveler's Cloak to be a good match to this set of Armor. The other items of Valor are bind when equip and need to be obtained by drops from raids. (see details for the Valor set) The Imperial Plate set can be either bought in AH or made quite easily as a Blacksmith with all plans available from one guy in Gadgetzan and wearable between lvls 47 and 56.

For Clarification:

For the Alliance, you get the proper quest (Imperial Plate Armor) from Myolor Sunderfury in Ironforge.
You have to go to Derotain Mudsipper in Gadgetzan.

If you where unlucky enough to run ZF 18 times and not get big bad pauldrons like me, these are decent green "of the bear" equivalent shoulders that can level your bs while you are at it.

One of the peices that doesn't look SW guard though

The Imperial Plate Shoulders are the 3rd best Shoulder item for 40-49 PvP and by far the easiest to acquire.

3rd: Imperial Plate Shoulders

This set looks pretty good and is pretty good for a tank. I have it all on my 56 pally and i like it. Too bad there are no gloves

Set makes you look like a footman from WC2, anyways I already have 4 pieces, not sure if i should get the belt or the shoulders, since my current one has more armor, but then again the +28 stamina would help.

Only players can make em. Created with blacksmithing, and you need to be lvl 265 to make the shoulders and belt, 270 to make the bracers, 295 to make the boots and helm and 300 to make the chest and helm.

seeing as u only need 6/7 of them to get full bonuses, i was wondering if i should get the bracers, or the shoulders. my shoulders are better than the imp. plate ones, (Big Bad Pauldrons) so should i replace my shoulders with imp plate, and find new bracers? or drop the shoulders?....

This set is really nice for a warior at 55-58, but the expense of getting all the plans is more than enough to bankrupt any player. I have all the plans, and can make all the pieces for you. Just get the mats, and PST to Sudz / Horde / Archimonde

Man this is right lame I just got Wyrmslayer but I want full imp plate because I could really do with all the Strength + Stam and Wyrmslayer is much better and looks better :S

For those who had question about re-learning smithing from scratch before the TBC expansion, you can relearn the recipes. Head to Gadgetzan in Tanaris after you reach the lvl for training. Not sure I am repeating what someone said previously, but good luck on the quest.

Does anyone know how to buy the Imperial Plate Shoulders? I can see all the other Imperial plate Recipes available at the npc, except for the shoulders.

You don't need to do a quest now to buy these things, just hand over 30 thorium.

I am friendly with the Thorium Brotherhood -maybe I need honoured?

Im now making these on Uldaman Server and they are real Schweet with the bonus sets. I can almost make the complete set including the bracers and belt.
