Karoma looks the same as the Ancient Grimtotem Spirit Guide, which used to be tamable by Hunters with the help of some Haste effects. Blizzard changed this in a later patch, but those who already had one got to keep it.

However, Karoma is a Spirit Beast while the Grimtotem Spirit Guides were wolves, so those who tamed one back in TBC will still have a unique pet to some degree.

This NPC is found in eastern Twilight Highlands, on the grassy area near the level 84 worgs. It is a level 85 non-elite rare and can be tamed by hunters who have the 31-point Beast Mastery talent. As Magnett said, it is a spirit beast and is translucent blue.

Seems slightly odd, considering that all other spirit beasts are elites, but hey, this one has a title, where only Loque could boast that before. Either way, I know ill camp him. All I need now is Arc.

After camping him for 2 days straight, I saw him killed by a horde pally @ around 44, 73. I had been in a heroic and a friend whispered me, I got there just in time to see the hammer of wrath. I'm really disappointed, But I'll endeavor to find him alive.

Found him at 49.75 at 2am server. There were 3 level 85 hunters in the region and I asked each of them if they wanted to tame Karoma. One was afk, one said he was busy, and they other said "thanks, but not today". I was highly surprised. I have a level 82 hunter and when I am able I will definitely be back to find him. Good luck all. FYI I came back to check and he was there 30 minutes later so not known if he despawns.

Addendum: Returned 45 minutes after I first spotted him and he had disappeared. I kept checking to see if an 85 hunter entered to zone so I could let them know Karoma was up. No new hunters had entered and two of the three initial hunters had left. I believe he despawned unless the one hunter left had changed his mind.

6am I tamed Terrorpene then later that morning I went to go check Ghostcrawler in Abyssal Depths. He was already there waiting for me, tamed him and within 3 minutes headed off to Twilight Highlands to check on the other rares. And boom, Karoma was also up waiting for me around 9:54am Dragonmaw server time :) I was extremely surprised and happy. I've always had to wait more than 8 hours for all the rares I've ever camped. Took a while to accept the fact that I actually tamed three rares in less than four hours. :) Hope at least once all you hunters out there get as lucky as I do. But just so you know I've had bad camping days, Loque was a pain and Sambas I waited 23 hours for... so I know about the toughies as well.

Finally tamed Karoma at the 65, 60 area tonight at around 5:30pm Cenarion Circle! Had a heart attack when NPC went off:)

Tamed on Eredar, at 7:11pm Server time. Location: 53.5 52.9

Tame was completed -just- in time for a Lvl 84 BE Prot Paladin and Lvl 85 Tauren Resto Druid to spot me on the ground. Im guessing they were attempting to catch me before the tame completed, they failed. So I enjoyed simply /dancing and /hugging my new Karoma pet while they slowly lowered my health to 0.

People like that, that mess with Hunter's getting their dream pets really need to be horribly cursed with bad luck for the rest of their lives, though.

to be completely honest this was the most easiest spirit beast to tame i got him on my first try and hes a RARE SPAWN and hes is aggressive as-well, so all the hunters out there....this is the most easiest pet to tame, it can be because cata just came out but its truly too easy so thrill in taming it =/

No, there *is* no loot for this guy other than the grey listed. Same for Sambas and Terrorpene. They have no "noteworthy" loot. They're basically rares aimed at Hunters.

I found her northeast of the Crucible of Carnage. I got really lucky to find her, and my heart shook with excitement. So, instinctively, I abandoned my Gosh-Haldir and tamed the wolf spirit with no interruptions.

Karoma is unaffected by the phasing in the zone, so you will be able to find him no matter how many quests you've done there.

I tamed him this morning on the Ragnaros server at around 7:22am at the northern most point as recorded in the screen shots. I tamed Jadefang only 6 hours before and just before I went to work I thought I would just do a quick check. I flew in a counter clockwise direction and he popped up on my scanner. Landed and dropped a trap as he attacked me straight away. I tried to tame him but realised I still had Jadefang out. I was confused as I couldn't see him because jadefang is so small and he was also stealthed. Anyway I just clicked dismiss and continued to tame Karoma. Now I only need Madexx to complete my Cata unique skinned rare pets collection! Good luck to all you other hunters out there.

Just tamed this beautiful girl on Skullcrusher at 5:27pm server time. Found her at the Crucible spawn point, directly in front of the entrance. As it was the first time I have seen her, and had npc scan, silver dragon, and my targeting macro screaming at me simultaneously, I'm still shaking, lol. Don't give up, fellow hunters!
(Also, to the alliance hunter who stopped and congratulated me, thank you so much! I really expected to be ganked, but your kindness made the moment that much sweeter. ^^)

Scored this guy (girl?) yesterday. I actually ran into him on my druid while flying around farming herbs, had no idea he even existed. As soon as I got out of combat, I marked the coords, logged over to my hunter and scrambled to port to Highbank and fly over. Couldn't believe he was still just sitting there waiting to be tamed.

I like the model better than Skoll because my first pet from vanilla was one of the white wolves from Dun Morogh (which I still have), so I have a soft spot for those guys.

I found Karoma on my second sweep around the zone. (At the SW most spawn point)

I found Ghostcrawler on my first visit to the Abandoned Reef.

Tamed them both without any problem.

I'm almost disappointed because I thought there would be a ton of competition for both of these pets.

Anyway, Karoma is a Hostile Spirit Beast - he will attack on sight. He also does the leap attack, so make sure your trap is set with some space in front of you or he might leap right over it.

Other than that, piece of cake. Ghostcrawler, on the other hand, was way more TRICKSY.

I really wanted to finish my collection so I started camping this cute little thing at around 3am. By the time 9:30 rolled around I was bored and logged out at the southern most spawn point. After a rather long milling of all the herbs I collected while camping(on an ALT of coarse) I logged back on to start a round of dailies only to have my NPC scan deafen me when logging on. Quickly tamed the vicious thing at 10:38. I'm guessing he has an 8-12 hour spawn timer like Ghostcrawler but I can't confirm that since I didn't know the time he was last killed/tamed.

A quick word of advice is to DEFINITELY check Sambas if you have seen Karoma. On my way around I decided to check the falls and sure enough NPC scan went off again and I added a beautiful model to my cat collection!

Happy hunting! Don't look on the who search for other hunters in the area! It just makes me paranoid... :P

Just got Karoma on Winterhoof at the 58 63 location at 1:29 am server time. Was just over there taking a break from camping Terrorpene, because I knew he had been tamed about 6 hours before. Popped over, lapped around a few times on the Sambas/Karoma circuit and there he was! So awesome! Spirit beast collection complete! Woot!

Timing doesn't matter. Spawn timers are randomized to between a certain number of hours. And the info would be outdated within a day or two anyway, sooner if there is a server restart.

As for where mobs are seen, that shows up on the dots on the map up above. If the mob is seen elsewhere, then post. If you have info to add, like, "Saw it spawn at such and such a point, sitting under the tree that has the big rock next to it" then post. Otherwise, follow the Wowhead guidelines and resist the urge to add a useless post.

At Burdeep/Moodeep or what ever. I'd just like to say, in vanilla I tamed that beautiful Grimtotem wolf, but sadly I was hacked, they deleted my hunter and Blizz wasnt able to recover my wolf. So I was excited when they brought out a Spirit Beast version of him. I have my Bingles back. :)

At this point it looks like 6 hour minimum cooldown on his timer. Right now he does seem to be more consistent (i.e. no 52-hour lag on spawn) than past beasts. BUT, that being said, I'd say 6-8 is standard with the potential to be longer from time to time.

I'm actually making this post here after reading many other comments and Karoma was the last NPC I went after. I'm not going to waste anyone's time by posting when I got any NPC or where it was. The time and server doesn't always matter because it'll vary based on when the NPC was killed or bagged last. Considering that most of the time the NPC is taken care of within a few minutes of spawning, the timer can be off by just a little and you will miss out and get upset. People might just be posting that information out of habit or because everyone else is, I don't know, but don't base your search entirely off that. I don't fault people for doing so, I'm just saying that in the end, I don't think it has the best chances of helping in the search. The location also has been laid out by now, so pretty much most people know where the NPC will spawn. The first thing I will say is that you WILL get whatever NPC it is you want. The only matter is when you will, which all depends on how hard you try and what priority you put on it along with luck.

I will say what I've found out from my experience in trying to catch all these NPC pets and some of the steps I have taken. Hopefully the information I give will help others in their endeavor. I've looked for them during all times of the day and my best chances of getting any of the NPC's have been at late night. The reason for this is pretty simple. Less people on. This still doesn't mean you are surely going to get a new pet on your first go around. I've had to keep at it a few days usually but persistance along with luck is what pays off. I'm sure any other hunter will tell you this.

Now, you might not have the opportunity to be on that late and this is understandable. I don't either unless I have a day off from work the following day. In this case it is all luck and your best bet is just to make fly-overs whenever you got that gut instinct or have time. There aren't any set patterns on when to show up at a location or anything else that help 100 percent. I've tried to make my rounds based on different timers and from my experience and calculations, the probability of seeing an NPC didn't go up largely. It does give you a general idea of when you can make a round but that doesn't mean the NPC will definitely be there. Of course these were my own findings so take it as you will.

Only Blizzard really knows the actual spawn timers. Also, who knows, it might be completely random. There isn't a real way to gauge any of that, even by sitting at one spot for several hours through multiple spawns of an NPC. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you're making your rounds based on spawn timers, your chances don't really tip in your favor immensely considering others are probably doing the same. It might even be more of a hinderance to a person's chances. I've also talked to several other hunters I know about this and we've all came to the same conclusion.

Obviously you want to make your fly-overs where the NPC is best known to spawn. I always make at least three rounds before going on to do something else or looking for another NPC. Another way of getting these NPC's are by just camping the spot until they show up. The thing that I do is run WOW in windowed mode and turn the volume up for sound effects with the music off. NPCscan has been very good to me and has always gone off perfect. I'll leave the game running and just do other things while waiting on a spawn. My usual game plan is to find out where the NPC has the best chance to spawn or try to get in the middle of multiple spawn points. The scanner has a good range to pick things up.

All of the captures I've made have been late at night, usually after midnight. This also includes NPC's from other expansions. The only thing you need to make sure is that the cache for WOW is cleaned out so the scanner can pick up the NPC's. If you are on a high population server, like me, then you no doubt worry about queue times to log back in. What I do is right click and close WOW from the task bar rather than logging or using the exit game function in the menu. This allows me to log back in right away.

On a side note, if you have problems using NPCscan then I definitely recommend taking the time and making macros that people have kindly posted on these pages. They will no doubt be one of your best bets in trying to catch these NPC's if the mod isn't an option. I've gotten a couple new pets using this alternative just to see how it works.

Also, if you find that you arent the only one in an area looking for an NPC, I've found it better just to come back when it was me alone. I know it seems counter-intuitive but fighting over one spot with multiple people will just render you frustrated. Yeah, you might not get what you want right away but coming back later with a calm mindset is definitely a better thing. Focus rather than anger increases your chances, especially when you hear that alert go off and have to control your shaking and nervousness.

Anyway, good luck to everyone out there and don't be a punk if you know someone is taming or trying to tame one of these NPC's. If you are a hunter yourself or have an alt that is one, then you should understand the *!@# we have to go through to get one of these rare spawns. The spirit of competition is understood but being an ass is completely different. Killing someone or the NPC while they are trying to tame or leaving your pet out on purpose in the zone it spawns just to mess with people's scanners, for example, is just low and immature. It might be funny at first but karma catches up eventually.

NPC Scan went off at 2:20 ET on Suramar server. I flip out thinking yes I got him!, change my spec back to BM and click on target to find an already dead Karoma. :*(

Seriously, why do non-hunters (or even non-BM hunters) feel the need to kill him when he gives no achievement, skins just savage leather and that grey loot he drops sells for a measly 25 gold? Even if you announce it in general he is there, cool, then just walk away. A hunter WILL find him eventually.

It's hard enough to find him spawned at all, we don't need people killing him off.

Well, like many others, been touring TH looking for the cowardly lion and the ghost wolf for a few days. Had some near misses (a rogue took out Karoma seconds before I could get there), but this morning on a whim I logged in and took a lap. Started at the shredders spawn point and went clockwise hitting all the spawns. Coming south off the plateau, as I neared Bloodgulch, npcscan went off! Karoma was in sight. A few seconds later, my 5th spirit beast was mine.

The dirty details:
Server - Kilrogg-US
Time - 5:56 am server (tamed, unknown when spawned)
Location - 60, 43.

I do know that he spawned and was killed at about 5:15pm server 2 days before.

Update - Spotted again today about 6:30am server at 49,75. Don't know when spawned. I called out to the hunters in the area but no one wanted him. Was asking others when a Warlock came and killed him.

How does phasing effect the rare spawns? I'd imagine you can be somewhat phased and be fine but can you fly into a zone you didn't touch and still see these pets?

Via instances/guild bonus I didn't have to do highlands on my hunter and hit 85 in uldum. I don't really wanna start camping for pets til I have some idea whether my hours were lost cause of not spending the initial time to get the zone unlocked.

Sunday night around 6pm server time on gnomeregan a fellow guild mate got Karoma at 49:75.6am server time on monday morning another guild mate got Karoma at 54:54. I got Karoma around 530pm server time monday night at 54:54.

Was meandering around Twilight Highlands looking for Sambas when a druid whispered to ask if I needed Karoma. We grouped and it took me about five minutes to fly across the zone, switch specs and pull off the tame. What a beauty! I tipped the druid well for his kindness.

I managed to tame him 7 hours after another hunter killed him. He looks like he has a 6-8 hour spawn timer. Seeing that I've managed to see him 3 times slightly over a day and a half.

This is a rare and sought after hunterpet. He only drops a Tear of Loyalty that vendors for 25g, but I bet if you ask in general chat or so, hunter's will gladly tip a few hundred (perhaps thousands) to tame this nostalgic spirit beast wolf. I say this outloud because I have seen a couple of non-hunters camping him unknowingly thinking that he's part of some achievement or will drop a nice Cata-blue.

~he does not drop a BOE blue item, he only drops a tear that sells for 25g
~he is a Spirit Beast and thus can only be tamed by Beast Master hunter's

Please if you see him up and you're not a hunter, do a /who hunter Twilight Highlands or something, they will likely be very grateful and they should tip you nicely for being nice to them

Please if you are a hunter who gets a /w from someone asking if you would like him... TIP! Make sure to tip at least a couple hundred gold for someone being nice and letting you know about his whereabouts

Even on my server, Kil'Jaeden, which is high pop to say the least (3000+ people queues on patch days), this guy isn't sought after at all. I saw him on my way to BoT after our guild's 25 man broke up to split into 10 mans after some people had to go. Asked a couple hunter friends if they wanted him because I didn't have a BM spec, they all said no, so I spent 10 mins going back to Org to respec, and when I came back he was still there.

To compare him to Sambas, I got lucky and saw Sambas immediately after he spawned, and in the 3 seconds it took me to scatter + trap him, 2 other hunters were landing next to me to tame.

Anyway, this model's been used before, but it's still pretty cool. He's big when you see him, but after you tame he goes down to about the size of the spirit wolf that you follow for that quest in Hellfire when you discover the Mag'har. If you've done it you know what I'm talking about; Karoma is that same wolf. One of these days when I'm bored I'll come back here and find the link to the quest.

Unfortunately, i fail to see barely any truly helpful comments on how to tame him here. so heres how i tamed him.

What i did was, wait between the two southernmost spawnpoints by crushblow, making a servey around the other 4 spawns every few minutes, spamming my /target macro. The addon NPC scan is also very helpful.
while waiting, i watched some movies on itunes to pass the time.

tamed at 5:10 server time on eldre' thalas.

(ironically, i was looking up videos on youtube on karoma, and my npc scan went off. at first i thought it was the video.)

Probably not useful info, but I will add this anyway...
Karoma tamed on Jan 30, 2011 at around 9:10 Central Time on Velen (Server time would be at around 7:09.) This magnificant beast was tamed east of Dunwald Ruins near all the Worgs. Good luck to any and all Velen hunters out there-- while I'm camping Sambas and I happen to come across Karoma, I'll /who hunter.
Tip: If you don't want to get NPC Tracker, use this macro
/Targetexact Karoma. I used it myself and found it works even from high up in the air. A note to all non-hunters- Do NOT kill this wolf. 25g may sound tempting, but like what was said before, people will gladly tip. I had a 3000g bounty on her at one point, I was that desperate.

I cannot stress the fact enough that NO ONE should be killing the rare potential pets... And if you did, you sure as heck shouldn't be bragging about it in world chat. If you happen to aggro the only hostile spirit beast known as Karoma, please try and run away and let him reset.

Be on the lookout for other players nearby when you go to tame an animal. Do NOT announce you see him in world chat before taming. Let them know after. There is nothing more devastating then someone shooting at your pet while trying to tame it.

well i know some of you wont want to hear this. but i was at TH checking leather patterns and found out i had an empty pet slot. i i figured i would fly inland to find something to tame. then i see this karoma and tamed him and it took less than a few minutes. after reading these post i understand that i am very lucky to have found this rare spirit beast. only post to let you know found him around four pm eastern standard time. close to were the worgs are running around.

tamed GC wed. Sambas and this beautiful animal on Jaedenar hordeside east of blood gulch. Frost trap took some bites and sqee at my beautiful and long awaited ghostwolf I've been wanting since I first picked up vanilla..Unfortunately my encounter with ghostcrawler nerfed my account to the ground and my hunts journey will end on the 24th..I have Terropene and skoll left to finish my collection..Wish this hunter luck!

He didnt even tip me or anything, I wasnt doing it for money but I think 100g wouldve meant a lot, not for the ammount, they are unlikely to affect your economy in cataclysm, but for what they represent.

Oh and one more thing, a few minutes later after finishing my dungeon I was LFG for crucible of carnage. I used /who to find more members, the hunter I just helped tame the beast was still around, needless to say he didnt bother on assisting us.

First i would like to say it was decend of u not just to nuke Karoma just cos u couldent tame her yet.

But on a side note, i dont think its fair complaning on a forum that u didnt recive gold for a tip, dont get me wrong it would have been a nice gesture but comon, if u had been broke and recived such tip u would know the graditude is there.

Besides that, expecting him to drop everything later on to come to ur aid is just spoiled. Belive it or not but not everyone lives and breathes for this pet. And regarding "saving him countless of hours" u cant even be sure he was after her to begin with.

The forums shouldent be used as an outlet to ur frustrations, cos as im sure alot of fellow hunters would agree with - bein tipped off that a rare / spirit beasts is up for graps should be encouraged and bashing helpfull ppl in puplic is the exact opposite.

Caught today at about 1:50pm server time on Darkspear just east of Bloodgulch. Dropped Freezing Trap and tamed, super easy! He is a beauty. Now off to get Sambas! GL fellow hunters :)

I am doing flips right now, am SOOO happy I Finally found Karoma. 49,74 are the coords where I found him. 6:50 a.m. EST As many other people have posted, its a matter of pure luck finding him. I stayed online yesterday, flying circuits around the 6 "possible" spawning pts. Didn't leave the area, just camped him (not sure if it a him or her right now). Use NPC scan (totally priceless when it comes to finding rare pets). Pure luck finding him. Talking to one of my fellow hunters (even though he is on the wrong faction (I am horde) he was spotting for a friend of his. His friend was off using the restroom when I came upon with NPC Scan singing in my ears. Only advise I can give, if you want him...Don't give up! Either have one of your buddies "spot" for you, or get an addon to help do the searching for you in case your eyes don't see him as your flying around. I didn't stay in just one place but every 5 or 6 minutes, would fly the circuit to see it he showed up. Again, pure luck! This one time....BAM he was there! So to all of my fellow hunters, be it Alliance or Horde- GL to you all! Don't give up, go out and tame this beautiful creature.

I just tamed him at 54,2. i wanst even looking for him, a mage came over general asking if any1 wanted him and i got there first i guess lol. took me a few tries. i had to switch specs but he kept attacking me almost died a few times. Well, he'll make a nice additon to my spirit beast collection. Working on getting em all.

Finally, the battle is won.

Like the leopard, I stalked my prey silently.
Like the tiger, I waited for the right oppurtunity to strike.
Like the wolf, I set up an ambush.
Like the bear, I waited for my prey to wander across my path.
Like the crab, I grabbed tight and didn't let it go.

After a long time of hunting, Karoma is tamed and my collection of Spirit Beasts is complete at last.

Just for those of you using NPC Scanner, I myself had it but don't trust technology to be fool proof. I have a macro made that I kept spamming as I flew in an "L" pattern following his spawn spots.

/tar Karoma

That is all you need if you are paying attention, if you aren't you can add any sound that are mentioned in afore comments.

However, I'm glad I was paying attention at the right moment, I was spamming that as I was watching NCAA Basketball, targeted him and saw it right as I flew out of range, had enough time to turn around and grab him, all the while my NPC Scanner never went off or made any noise at me.

I got him just south of CoC and had been flying around since 11 AM(however most of that time was spent in one spot and after finding out he wasn't cached in my NPC Scanner I might have missed a spawn).

Just a heads up, don't have full trust in your addons unless you have double and triple checked them, and still have a backup if you are dead set on finding your rares.

"snort" i was looking for dwarf digsites and i had one in TH and when i was there i saw him standing there and i was like "!@#$ i have no BM atm" i flew to sw and changed spec fast as i could, when i came back i saw a horde flying from the place i saw him D: i only saw that his name started with B and was like 5 characters long and he had killed him );= "snort" damn u stupid horde,.....

forgot one thing ^^ i ganked all hordes with a name starting with B for som ehours ^^

Does anyone know if you need to open a number of phases to find karoma? i hit 85 without going to twilight,.... i did enough quests to get the portal open but now im flying around looking for both this and sambas. been looking a week now and can not find them :(

Tamed Karoma around the 65,59 area about 1;00 am server time in Darrowmere. It was sweet, npc scan went off, took about 5 mins or so to find him, but the kicker was me checking for Sambas and sure enough scan went off again. In about 20 mins time I tamed Karoma and Sambas, so needless to say I'm 1 stoked Hunter..I wish all my fellow Hunters luck in your search for these guys and maybe get both just as I did...

I was just wondering if Karoma does the same phasing in and out like Ghostcrawler does because my NPCScan went off this morning and I had him targeted, then he just disappeared. Any ideas as to why that happened?

I flew in Twilight Highlands off and on for about a week and just got her at 11:21:07 PST or 2:21:07 ST. It was pretty sweet, my heart started thumping and I land to find that unlike Sambas, you have to be in BM mode. So, I let Karoma kill me. As I frantically hit the buttons to rez on the spot and kept spamming the notification I feared I had lost Karoma, but I got lucky and found them again, changed spec, and she was mine. Karoma hit pretty hard, but I'm around 105K health so it wasn't like I was almost dead. About 40% health left by the time I tamed it. Pretty happy with my catch. Always wanted this. Now, moving on to Terropene...

The reason I'm making this post is the sheer hostility that I had to encounter to tame this beast, as I was on my own I of course failed because the allie had a rogue breaking my traps, nipping aggro and just keeping the beast away from me. So he could have his merry go tame time while I was biting dust. Appearers this is the normal way of going on this server.

I used to respect all other hunters regardless faction but thats gone now. So be warned, even on a PvE server it might get ugly.

And I'll like to add that I find this behavior really disgusting, but perhaps that because I'm not a true BM hunter. where is this going to end ? 5 man parties camping days for the hunter to get his vannety combat pet nuking people who even come close ? cheers.

Came across him/her at one of the points near Crushblow on my druid while flying around for herbs, panicked to log my main in time and port from Orgrimmar and fly to tame. Tamed at 22:40 server time (Vashj-EU) and remembered reading something about some people taming this beauty and Sambas within a few minutes of each other so I went up to look for Sambas with a /tar macro since NPCScan was cached. Found him at 42,38 at 22:49 and tamed also! Didn't realise it took me 9 minutes to get over there, was a little in shock from Karoma I think haha.

Edit: Went to the Abandoned Reef on the offchance and there was Ghostcrawler! Tamed 22:12. My spirit beast collection is complete! Stunned and very happy! :D

Greetings Wowheadians,

After a night of Goods and Bads, I managed to tame Karoma last night, 10:12 server time on Blackwater Raiders, US.

Here's a quick breakdown of my night:

Bad: Looking for Karoma in the Highlands while waiting for the random Heroic queue, not finding him. Port to dungeon from a spot south of the ruins.

Good: Heroic queue spot arrives, and it's Stonecore, where I have a chance at my elusive bracers (the one slot that has been not been filled with something 346 or better) and get some Valor Points.

Bad: Killing Ozruk with no problems, but still no Elusive Bracers of Nonexistence.

Good: 'Porting back to my spot in Twilight Highlands - and there's Karoma, right in front of me!

Bad: Strange errors of "You already have a pet" when my pet is not even out.

Good: Summoning a pet and then dismissing it, clearing the error.

Bad: Another error - "You cannot tame that pet". WHADDAYA MEAN I CAN'T TAME THAT...

Good: Realizing I'm in Survival spec and quickly switching to Beast Mastery.

Bad: A shadow overhead! Oh crap, someone sees me trying to tame Karoma! They'll kill it or steal it from me!

Good: Oh, it's just a black drake NPC.

Finally, GOOD: Taming Karoma and then breathing again.

So, after that roller coaster ride, I was mentally exhausted, but I realized a couple things.
One, it is likely better to go looking late at night when fewer folks are on. I was surprised to find Karoma just THERE and not attacked for such a long time.
Two, the spot on the map on Wowhead really indicates not only where Karoma spawns, but also where he's leashed. I was watching him for several moments and he didn't patrol in an area, he just randomly walked in a small space. So for those hunting for him, he doesn't travel far from the points indicated. Where I found him was right in the middle of the 4 small ruin icons and the icon for Crushblow on the map.

Hope that was amusing and/or informative for some fellow hunters, and thanks to all who posted their experiences as well.

Not to many hunters know about Karoma, I found him twice within 3 days, just randomly looking for him every couple of hours. The first time, someone had killed him and was bragging about it in general. The second time I found him with a macro. Also, be quick when your taming, because right when I started to tame it, an Alliance hunter saw me, and began to cast but was interrupted by me finishing the tame. If your not a hunter, please don't kill him, even if he does drop something, it would mean a lot more to someone if you helped them tame him. Plus, they would probably tip you more then whatever he drops is worth. And even if you are a hunter, don't kill him while another hunter is taming him, that's the worse thing you can do, it will just cause you to have more competition later and I bet they would gladly return the favor if they saw you ever taming something.

/tar Karoma

(you can add in other things to make a noise if you target him, I didn't though. I also reccomend NPC scan)

Hello there fellow hunters!

Karoma is a great pet and has the same skin as the shamans spirit wolf, slightly smaller. He has a few spawning locations in Twilight Highlands. Some of his loctions can be phased. I used the add-on named NPC-scan and it worked like a charm. Here's some things about him:

- He's quite small compared to other spirit beasts.
- He has the same sound as a shaman feral spirit.
- You can easingly notice him around the forest in TH.

I tamed him at the first spot I flew. I got a lot of angry whispers when I said I tamed him in general general. So, if you tame him, be nice enough to let others know but don't rage over all the whispers you can get.

So I decided last night to fly out to Twilight Highlands on my 85 hunter who hadn't been there since I faction changed. I did all the Stormwind quests, then as soon as I got to twilight I flew over to Karoma's area with a target macro and found him roaming in less than 2 minutes. Easy tame on Moonguard US at 10:20 pm server time. I now have every spirit beast but Ghostcrawler, who is arguably the easiest to tame.

got mine at 2:14am pst ( 5:15am server ) on exodar-us.

to be quite honest this pet was not on my list of things to get right away but my friend who already had it was in twilight highlands and told me to grab it before someone else does, since apparently he's a !@#$% to get.
kind of bummed i had no space so i had to abandon my olm the wise i had gotten 2 hrs earlier lol
i miss my owl already since i dont play as bm anyway.

Got him today , 20 minutes before servers shut for maintenance .
I saw 2 other hunters with him and kinda had to get him myself . I spent nearly 1/2 hour cruising around looking for him , npc finder didnt alert me , I spotted him myself , dismissed my pet , dropped a trap and tamed him , I think I like him better than Skoll
I tend to look for rares just before shutdowns , it seems to work best for me .
Best of fortunes to other hunters looking for him :) he is worth the effort .

I was randomly mining in Twilight Highlands to get my shammys mining skill maxed today.
As the pet maniac I am, I obviously flew through all spawn spots of Karoma and Sambas whilst doing it. After around half an hour my gaze caught a shiny spirit wolf-totem-ish thing. I nearly fell out of the sofa, my eyes went O.o and my breath went GASP. I nearly started crying when I realized I was on the wrong toon, logged out quickly and grabbed my hunter.
I managed to FORGET where I spotted him in my hurry, and as I made my way through org and into the portal to Highlands, I was panicking. Had to check half of his spawn points before I realized I'd seen him at Gorshak War Camp.
I flew there in a hurry hands shaking, spamming /tar Karoma (NPC scan was odd today, I'd checked and no creatures were cached. Yet Karoma appearantly was. *sigh*). When my macro hit goal I dismounted high up in the air and barely survived the fall. Realized in horror I had to eat up before I could close up on him. And so I did, not taking my eyes of the huge angry beauty patting around. When I finally got to 100% health I dumbly threw down an ice trap and started taming, just to realize I didn't trap him at all. WRONG TRAP damn it!
Instead of bothering with waiting for cd, I started taming. Done is done, he only got me down to around 50% hp before he was mine.

Hellscream EU, ~09:30 server time. Coords around 60:43.

Happy hunting fellow petoholics, he surely is worth whatever time you put into camping for him.

I actually found Karoma without really expecting it, as I was just making a random run on his spawn points while I was camping Sambas.

NPC scan picked him up right away, just below Firebeard's Patrol, slighly off of the left spawn point. It was a pretty fast tame. I dropped down, tagged him with concussive and scatter shot, then just tamed him until he was mine. Got him at 12:16 am server time. The next night at 6:38 pm server time I got Sambas! ^.^

There is also a ghost wolf in Eastern Plaguelands, I believe he is part of the new Cata quests there, non spirit wolf. I had to kill for a quest on a lowbie, had a knife through it's face. Immediately logged over to the hnter and tamed him, no knife once tamed though.

People like that, that mess with Hunter's getting their dream pets really need to be horribly cursed with bad luck for the rest of their lives, though.

Specially if they kill 'em in front of you.

This is my story:

I use to get home for rares, specially Sambas and Karoma, because they're difficult to get.
Was just passing at Karoma's spawn points, at 58,43 KAROMA! dismounted, (was on my rogue) Blinded him. Asked in general if some hunter wanted him. got 3 whispers, invited the first one, he comes to me, and he said that he wasn't able to tame him. He was 84 ._.
Invited the second one, comes to me and the other hunter. Wasn't able to tame him. HE WAS 84! holy ^&*! ._.
i didn't invited the third one because I KNOW! that he kills rares. He's a hunter, though. so i didn't pay'd attention to him

I keep asking in general. Got a whisper from a friend, really good friend xD he is 84, so i just said "@#$% u, u are 84."

Around 2 mins later, a Deathknight comes, dismount and started to KILL KAROMA. I was like "WTH! NO!". I was very angry, and i insulted him :l he didnt say nothing. Just mounted, and fly away.
Sadly, he was horde, same as me. And i couldnt kill him.

I had tamed Skoll and Loque'Nahak previously after a few weeks of flying over there spawn points every few hours, and after I while I thought that I might try doing the same with Karoma. I took off on my flying mount, flew around his spawn points, starting around 56,76 and circled around clockwise, fully prepared to do that for an hour or so every day till I got the pet. When I got to the 65,60 spawn point I saw a little red dot all on its own and moused over it, saw the name, flew down and landed a few feet away and hurled down the tame.
By the time it hit me that I had just found Karoma the tame was done and the beast was mine. The "Spirit Beast Shakes" were a little delayed and my fiance looks at me like I am a lunatic for jumping out of my seat and doing a little dance of happiness.

Every spirit beast I have tamed has been after a little spur of the moment thought, like "I wonder if loque'nahak is out, I might as well fly over and check", and tamed within ten minutes of getting into the zone.
If you are after one of these beasties I have some advice, never give up, you will find them eventually, and, if you get a little impulse to fly into twilight highlands and do a quick circuit, DO IT!

Tamed this beauty about 2 weeks ago, and couldn't be happier.

For those who already have this in their collection or are a non-hunter passer by and find this animal, keep in mind that if you did want the 25g item they drop for random cash some hunters are willing to pay you to tame it. Here is my story.

Day after taming Karoma I found them again in a different area and began whispering other hunters. None in the zone wanted it so I tagged him and kept it on ice till finally I found a hunter willing to tame it. The ecstatic hunter flew from SW (not having the TH portal open yet for reasons I still do not know) and generously gave me 500g for letting him tame Karoma. Just a few days later the very same hunter gave me 1000g for finding and letting him tame Loque, for whom he had been searching for 2 years.

So when your out and about and you see these animals, find a hunter who's willing to tame it. You may get more out of being thoughtful than what the animal could drop.

I downloaded the latest version of NPCscan then looked around the spawn areas in twilight highland but no luck so i camped on top of one of the buildings near the area and went to bed. 1st thing in the morning i logged on and there it was. I threw down a trap and tamed it with no trouble. He shows up as a red dot on the map as an 85 grey dragon elite symbol around his picture. total camp time 10 minutes.

This guy spawned about 1-2 hours before i levelled up to 85 luckily with my lowley populated server i got him and sambas and can say they dont share a spawn timer for any who think that or are thinking they do i went past his spawns and he was not ther until about 2 hours after karoma spawned (when i levelled up)

Wow so today I had been sitting over what happened to be karomas next spawn point I had gone afk while doing some paperwork while at work and when I cam back someone had killed karoma, pretty sad since his loot is worthless, i'm thinking it was done out of spite since they could see I had been sitting up above waiting anyways it was on nessingwary at 7:32 st at 59.6/ 43.4

Just tamed him. Flew into Twilight Highlands and headed to Horde area, Crushblow. Went to cordinates area, 49.6, 76.2. I had my track beasts on and as soon as i got to the above cordinates there he was. Tamed him and barley tamed him since his attacks are freaking hard. Anyway, tamed on US server Azuremyst realm time 4:30 pm. Good luck to the rest of the hunters, hunting him.

Im looking for this guy 2 days. I spent 13 hours (00:00 am - 1:15 pm) flying around points and nothing, no hunters around. Yesterday, august 4, I was looking at the places many times and nothing.
So I woke up 6:40 am, loged in, and though, why not just sneak peak and YES she was there.
Im not sure but I think have more points to look out.

Just tamed him about 24 minutes ago on dreadmaul, he was at the spawnpoint right next to the CoC and must have just spawned. I tamed him at 11:17 pm, and he must have spawned at quarter past, because i had checked this spawn point about 10 minutes earlier, and he wasnt there. Will upload a SS as well of this cool pet.

Found him wandering around in the shade near a spawn point. I was going to ignore NPCscan ,after having been alerted several times over already tamed mobs in Mt.Hyjal and the Molten Front, but then I saw some 'thing' moving beneath a tree. Anyway, I'm glad it wasn't another false alarm after all.

A slight hint for rares spawns like this one:

Never camp them for a long time. Simply fly over the spawn spots every day or every other day quite early in the morning (6-9am should do and that's not too early). Your luck will come eventually.

I've been able to catch every Northrend rare that I wanted (Skoll, Gondria, Aotona and now Loque) bar Arcturis (who keeps on eluding me but I will eventually get him) that way. Same goes for most of the Cataclysm rares I caught (Ghostcrawler, Karoma, Sambas, Ban'Thalos, Kirix, Solix, Karkin, Ankha). I only need Magria and Skarr there. I did tame Skitterflame just because I went by the Skarr spawn spot and thought , ah well: taming challenge. Scare beast --> tame, woop. Abandoned the pet right after because it's not a unique skin.

Anyways, just keep on casually looking for them and don't burst your head over the pets.

This morning I'm off to look for Skarr. I find Ban'Thalos - Tamed on Dragonblight EU, around 8 am today(the only pet I actually camped for one day after 4.2 came out for seven hours) and start to /who hunter. There's only 3 online including me. Noone even responds, too bad for them. Meh, I go into the portal to look for Skarr: he isn't there. /who hunter again. I get one more hunter popping up. Whisper him, he respecs BM but doesn't know how to tame it exactly. I hop over to Sanctuary of Malorne again and show him exactly what to do. He tames it and he's happy. No fee asked, no fee needed.

Loque'Nahak - Tamed on Dragonblight EU, around 8.30 am today - Northernmost spawning point. I actually /who'd for other hunters in the area when I started doing my lap. There was one level 83 one to whom I directly whispered (for fun, ofc): "You no take Loque". Of course I didn't ever think I'd find him but I beat the other hunter to it. He took it rather well and I had to check for Arcturis anyway so I decided to check on Skoll - Tamed on Dragonblight EU, around 8.45 am today and he was up as well. Whispered the hunter and stayed with Skoll until he was there.

He was still grouped when I decided to check for Sambas when Karoma - Tamed on Dragonblight EU, around 9.10 am today - popped. I told him that, he logged another hunter and got it. I decided to do a heroic on my tank for a satchel and then came back for Sambas - Tamed on Dragonblight EU, around 10 am today. After a bit of waiting above Victor's Point he just spawned right in front of me.

Moral of the story: always be friendly to other hunters and hint away their spawns. Do not rage over not finding a spawn you're looking for and by that killing another spawn you already have others might be interested in. It all pays off in the end. Don't give up and keep on casually looking.

I just got Karoma today without any competition. I just flew into Twilight highlands and looked at all the spawn points and at the last one I looked there it was :)
After the new pet challenges most of the Spiritbeasts can be picked up without any competition, I've got Ghostcrawler, Gondria, Karoma and King Krush so far today :)

I tamed this beauty while on my usual mining route. NPC scan went off at 60.8, 43.4. The other day NPC scan went off just outside of CoC but he was dead :( I didnt really want him since I own alot of spirit beasts already but since no one in the area wanted him, I gave him a new home :D

Holy cow I got him! This is the last of the rare hunter pets for me, save Sambra, which I don't really care about anyway. :P Camped him for over a week straight, then after a raid i flew around and he was southeast of Firebeard's Patrol.

I was flying through Twilight Highlands on 9/4/2011 when my npcscan sounded off saying that Karoma was near-by. Thinking that someone had already tamed him, because sometimes the scan sounds off right after one has been killed or tamed, I was totally shocked when I saw him standing on the ground in front of me! He has been one of the ones I have been wanting most because I like wolves, though I doubted I would ever be able to get him because I do not have the patience to camp. And what do you know I wasn't even looking for him and there he was! Talk about lucky! I was super excited! He is my first spirit beast pet. Had to abandon Humar the Pridelord to get him, but then I flew back to the Barrens and got Humar again:-)

After 0 hours of camping and finding him by accident while herbing on my tauren ninja druid I logged over to my hunter. Dropped my fail survival spec instantly and threw a bunch of random points into beast mastery as fast as I could, chucked myself at this wolf and tamed him successfully :D. Happy hunting!

Kinda sad though I'll probably never use beast mastery. Oh well, got a shiny pet for when it gets buffed or something. Maybe I'll try beast mastery pvp.

I was extremely lucky with this guy. I was leveling in the area to get to 85 when he popped up on my scanner. I found him and jus kinda looked at him for a while cause i couldnt tame him (was only lvl 84 atm :/ ). So i /who and found a hunter and told him that karoma was there but never got an answer, whispered a guildy that was on and he was busy and suggested i level and get him. I said there was no way that would happen but tried anyways. About 45 mins later i dinged off a mob kill about 10 feet from karoma, yay 85, took 3 steps, boom, tamed karoma :D A worgen taming a wolf right when he gets maxed, idk y but it seemed pretty cool. I have no idea how no one killed him before i got him. I saw a few people before i lvled and said not to kill him when they see him, thank god there are still a few decent people left on the game. Now for the rest of the 85 SB's good luck and happy hunting.

My taming streak took a turn for the best today. Was in Northrend and tamed Loque'nahak, Arcturis and Skoll within one hour. Then I went out into the Twilight highlands to look for Karoma. My NPC didn't kick off when I found him even though I had just deleted my preexisting cache in my wow folder so I practically stumbled into him by chance. Literally. I was in between Crushblow and Dunwald Ruins when he spawned 2 seconds right after I hit the ground right on top of me.

He's a beautiful wolf spirit and worth the tame. I've heard this is the best spot to find him and it worked perfectly! I didn't see him do much but that's only because he is not neutral like Pogeyan or other spirits for that matter so I got attacked right off the bat. But hopefully this info will help those looking for Karoma.

If you've been scowering for Karoma or other rares by looking everything up on the internet, I suggest downloading NPC Overlay. It helps track the most popular areas to find rares.

I was about to tame this beast, but a retarded Night Elf druid, came up and started attacking, the druid didn't have PVP on so I could not kill the druid, then he killed Karoma.

I never understood the excitement over taming the spirit beasts until I just came across Karoma today. I was on my herbalist and was going crazy trying to switch characters quickly! SO EXCITING to see that not only was Karoma still up, but no one else was around "saving" the beastie.

So, to all of the friends and players I did a token /grats too upon their spirit beast/rare taming, let me please say I'm sorry for not being more excited for you! What a fun rush! :)

To get this pet I strongly recommend;

A NPC scanner Addon - This will allow you to fly around and if karoma is in the area it will target Karoma or any other pet you want it too.

Be careful though because most work off a cache file and if you already have it cache'd it doesn't work

Patients - This guy is easier to tame than most rares but is still a rare. I recommend logging out in a spawn spot and logging on at a unusual time when nobody's on.

It's a common theme with others who have tamed him on this thread (the unusual time)

For my experience- It took 2 times with this method. Tamed at 59, 43 @ 2:10 pm server

If you don't like addons using a /tar karoma marco may help

I was hunting for Sambas, and got him around 3:34am on 12/17/11.
I read that Karoma also spawns around the same time as Sambas, so I decided to check on him.
He wasn't there, so I went into a dungeon and came back out around 4:30 am, and there he was beneath me. (: Around 58.4-68.6.
I got pretty lucky, getting these 2 tames got me addicted to collecting rare pets.
I now have Kirix, Deth, Sambas, Karoma, Gondria, Skarr, Karnix? (Forgot his name, but the other rare in Molten Front.). The spirit bear, Loque, Skoll. All in a 3 day span. All around 2-7am. Except for Gondria, which was obtained at 10:30pm. I also saw the Time proto drake around 1 am the same day I got Skoll. Someone beat me to killing him, so I was bummed, but I got happy once I got my Skoll. Skoll repawned approx 5 hours after I saw Time lost.

Logged out in Twilight Highlands at Sambas' Easternmost spawn point because I have been checking on and off for a couple days now. Log in and begin to check each point. 3:13pm server NPCscan gets a hit at the Westernmost point (38,53). Tame, dismiss and decide to check for Karoma since I was in the area. Head over to Karoma's nearest spawn point (54,53) and NPCscan picked up this mob as well at 3:15pm server :) Kilrogg's luckiest hunter is at it again!

Both were immune to Freezing Trap and Sambas hit a lot harder than Karoma, but still only got me to ~75%

Was questing with my priest (going back to reforge some spirit onto my gear again) when silver dragon said "hey, dummy. Rare thing down there. Go get it." Hopped onto my hunter, and tamed it. No-one else around.

Tamed at 12:45 server time on Staghelm . I had checked out his spawn spots a few times while I was here to find Sambas. I came here tonite on an impulse, the third spot, NPC Scan went off, I was so thrilled that I landed right beside him, and he started attacking me, and i couldn't tremember where the tame beast icon was. i found it and started taming, after a few more half-hearted slashes at me, he decided to join my team, and I'm happy to have him. He was found at 50,76 .

I have the weirdest bug with my Karoma... He keeps heeling himself(or gettin' mend pet) every second, but mend pets cooltime won't go off, so it doesn't really med, only those "+" marks come out of him.. It's really disturbing... Anyone else got this problem?

I tamed this handsome guy at around 11:12a server time. I stumbled across him while farming Twilight Jasmine. I tamed him at the 54.4,75.0 coordinates on the map above. :) hope it helps!

Got Karoma last night around 10:30pm Nazgrel. Spawned at 54.2, 53.8. Gave him his name back too! Arcane shot and hit tame then he was mine. Searched on and off for a week or so. Hardest part of this tame is just finding him on. I parked my toon in his spawn zone and logged out. Just had a feeling to check back before bed, started doing my lap and there he was. NPCscan is a huge help finding these rares. Good luck to fellow hunters looking for him, he's a beautiful pet! :)

This could be coincidence, but... Karoma came a'prowlin while I was killing wolves to skin. I had been skinning in the area for some time, and I know he wasn't around before... leading me to believe it's possible this spawn is similar to the rare yellow wasp spawn Nix.

Often Nix is not present in the area where he spawns, in a field of Marsh Hornets. However, as one kills Marsh Hornets over & over & over & over - he eventually spawns.

If you are not having success looking for Karoma, consider killing a bunch of wolves (south of Dunwald Ruins). I'm not cliaiming that I know that this will work, but it is worth trying if you are otherwise unsuccessful. If it is the case that he is a rare spawn version of those wolves, it may take several times of completely clearing them before he would spawn. Anyway, not sure if this info will actually be helpful or not. Regardless, happy hunting!

EDIT: Within a 24 hour period, I saw him twice (I know it wasn't the same one because I killed the first, tamed the second when I was high enough level). Both times I was killing wolves in the area. He happened to spawn just south of Dunwald Ruins. So a) his respawn timer is 24 hours or less. b) this may still be coincidence, but I believe it reinforces my theory that killing the other wolves may cause him to spawn in place of one of them.

Just tamed Karoma on Argent Dawn, 10:30 server time, loc 54,53. Been flying endlessly over known spawn sites for the last 3 days, picked up Sambas purely by chance the first night. Good luck, and if he hasn't spawned for you yet.. be patient!

Had searched for this SB off and on the previous day and hadn't spotted either him or Sambas all day long. First thing this morning, on the first loop around TH, I found and tamed Karoma.

After NPC Scan went off and alerted, I selected him as a target by clicking the NPC Scan alert as usual. However, despite having target and focus target selected to display on mini-map, he vanished from the mini-map display for a brief second or two. At first, I thought someone else had just beat me to him and tamed him - or - he was phasing (even though I've read that's not possible). I clicked on the NPC Scan alert again. He appeared on the mini-map again and once again became a "target" on the mini-map. When I landed on the ground, I was already in tame range and the tame was uneventful, so I found this disappearing act a little strange and thought I'd pass this along.

There's a lot of comments that Karoma has a relatively short respawn timer. I'm hoping after I get 85 by questing in the Highlands, I'll find him while questing afterwards/going for the quest achievement.

I got 84 yesterday, as well as Skoll. His younger brother is just as cool lookin' (A big fan of the old school modeled wolves) and I'm hoping to name 'em Quake. I named the Skoll 'Galvan', based off of the electrical term 'Galvanize', so an earth named pet seems fitting. :P

Just found Karoma southeast of Dunwald Ruins at 53.5, 75.8. Very easy tame and with a 383 ilvl, he took very little health from me- so don't worry about him hitting hard like the challenge pets in Mt Hyjal. This is the last spirit beast that I needed for my collection (at least until MoP comes out and that beautiful new tiger is one *hoping*).

Patch this morning was good to me. Last night I dinged 85, and today I tamed Skoll, Loq, and Karoma in like 1 hour.
I spent a long time trying to get these during normal game hours (and even with 150% flying). Just hang in there and watch for restarts/patch days.

Got a little more than i bargained for though because when i landed, i was attacked by 6 wolves all at once.

Then i tamed this bad boy.

Problem with him though he doesn't have growl in his talent tree which makes him pretty useless for solo stuff as it's hard for him to hold aggro.

On a side note, i tamed Aotona an hour ago as well :)

This is one of the more interesting pets to tame because of what he does. If you aggro him with a shot (I usually use Concussive Shot) and get some space in between you, he turns red and will close the gap by making a giant leap and landing on you. Start your tame immediately... because what he does next is randomly zip around behind you, beside you, etc. as he claws you. As long as you're channeling Tame Beast, your character will turn to face him no matter where he moves. If you've ever seen a DK's Army of the Dead against a boss (like Altairus in Vortex Pinnacle), the boss looks like he's going nuts, randomly spinning to kill one ghoul and then another... it's like that. Cracked me up first time I saw it. :)

Tamed Ghostcrawler on Dentarg USA around 6:15- 6:30 PM, tamed Sambas around 12 AM, tamed Karoma around 12 PM next day . Hope this helps with giving an idea of spawn times on Dentarg USA.

,Have been searching for Sambas for months now and decided to start looking for Karoma only yesterday, left my hunter there last night and decided to log on this this morning on a whim for a quick fly around, and there Karoma was! Yayys! Tamed on khaz'gorath server (Aus) at about 9:50am.

Easy tame, no traps used (Ive never bothered putting traps down on any of my tames). Found her around in the 49,75 area but cant remember exact map points, I was too excited sorry lol. Now Ive got both the spirit wolf and the bear, still hunting Sambas tho *sigh*

Just caught him @9:40 Eastern time on sever Yesera on my main. Found him in the spawn spot "Crucible of Carnage." Was shaking and forgot where my tame beast button was. Luckily, I tamed him just in time before an Alliance char flew over me (I wasn't sure if they were a hunter).

Was on at 7:00 a.m. and tamed this beautiful wolf not 15 minutes before I tamed Arcturis! He was actually somewhere in-between 58.6,63.6 and 65.8,60.8 . LOL this has just been my week I tamed Loque and Skoll yesterday after one day of searching and Karoma and Arcturis today plus Ive had Gondria for awhile. My advice is to NOT camp one spot even with Arcturis (with him fly around above north of the lodge for a bit since he wanders if given a minute), fly around between the areas and don't do it for long periods look for maybe a 1/2 hour at a time in-between queues or something. Best time is 6-9 a.m. that is when I have tamed every one of them. I tamed them solo without anything but my basic beast tracking (I have no addons because I just don't want to mess with them I got Coordinates from comparing map above with where I found him on my map) and my flying mount and of course the other peoples comments on wowhead lol.

Just as an FYI, do not be an idiot and flip out when he spawns. I was killing wolves when he spawned right on me. I popped a freeze trap on him "knowing" I would have time to kill the wolves I had pulled, dismiss my pet, and tame him with plenty of time. Unfortunately, the freeze trap failed and I had an angry Karoma on me. I panicked and dismiss my pet and went to hit the tame pet button, which I promptly dropped off my bar and had to hunt in my spellbook for...

Go about taming the rare spawns calmly. Otherwise things can turn into a royal messup in a second or two and even a reasonably geared toon can have a bad day that just gets compounded by adrenaline rush idiocy.

Once you are 85 , you dont need traps or anything , its not a big deal , si mply hit tame , and that's it , he is yours.

Just found this spirit beast at (49.5, 74.9) at 6:39 pm on the
Carine US server. Easy tame, no traps needed. Hunters can track this beast on their mini map by clicking track beasts. I hope this helps someone out.

Without me having any buffs on, not even deterrence he only did 24.5k damage to me, and I'm pretty sure he started attacking me before I managed to hit tame.

I hope this calmes the nerves of anyone looking to tame Karoma. :) Miles away from the likes of terrorpene and to a lesser degree ghostcrawler when it comes to damage.

Found Karoma at the 65,60 of the spawn points.

I nabbed this guy a couple weeks ago pretty easilly, wasn't sure of the time but it was in the evening.

Today however, I was in the area rescanning Sambas' points (just missed him!) and helped a fellow hunter tame Karoma at the 60.0, 43.6 point at about 8:30pm realm time. He was the only other hunter and there were lots of other players, so I sat above Karoma and protected him until the hunter got there. Better for a hunter to tame him than have him killed! Not sure when he spawned exactly, but maybe this will help as I've heard about other people getting him at this time also. GL to everyone after him!

I tamed this beauty today at 1:57 server time on Tanaris-US. I figured I would fly up and see if he was spawned, figuring he wouldn't be, but I was pleasantly surprised. He was spawned at approx. coordinates 53.53, which is the spawn point just northwest of the Crucible of Carnage. He was easy to tame and required no frost trap or anything.

-> it is possible both are just roaming around at the same time and taming them ;D guess it was my lucky day. Karoma didn't do much damage and i've killed sambas since i've already tamed it, he dropped Crystalline tear of loyalty which can be sold for 25G (better tip hunters nex time)

Tamed 14:52 at about (53,53) on Silvermoon server EU.

I'll be hoenst, I wasn't expecting to tame Karoma. I was mainly searching for Sambas and I decided a couple of times to do a circuit of Karoma's spawnpoints just to see if I could get this awesome pet as well.

At this point I didn't have NPCScan (I downloaded it later to search for Sambas) but the unmistakable red dot on my minimap gave him away. used my macro:

/target Karoma

and there he was. Landed in front of him and hit the tame button. I'm a newly dinged 85 with green/blue gear and it was an easy tame. I didn't use traps and he didn't dent my health that much.
