So the strat seems to be to try and stack buffs and debuffs.

Going into it I would start with 5 hots on myself then the big healing boost.

Next pull tgt and get a immolate (not sure exact spell name) with 5 combo points from the 1 key.

you might want to refresh your hot on yourself at this point

This quest is actually a daily quest, which can be used as practice for the Malygos encounter. The 3rd phase of said encounter uses red drakes against Malygos, and the lay-out, spells and handling of the drake used then is identical to the one used here. If you plan on fighting Malygos, I recommend using this to increase your skills in the fight.

Here's how to do it:

Stack hots to 5 (button 3), aggro a drake and use 5 times main nuke (button 1) then pop button 2. Renew the hot on yourself with button 3. Use button 5 when the drake does Arcane Surge.

In short the rotation is:
Button 3 x 5 -> Button 1 x 5 -> Button 2 -> Button 3 x 1 -> Button 1 x 5 -> Button 2

It's easy! You dont need and specific rotation. I just made sure that i had 5 of the hots up then getting 4 combo points with the attack spell and using the +healing debuff renewing the hot and then geting 5 combo points again using the dot and renewing a hot. if you make sure that you renew it before it runs out you only need to do 1 to reset the whole duration. :)

The fast way to do it.

1. 5 stack revivfy at the start of one drake.
2. Build up 5 combo points, use the dot finisher.
3. Revivry again (from my experience, 1 as revivfy was still up I only needed one application to refresh the duration of the whole stack)
4. Build up 1 combo point, use the dot finisher.
5. Repeat 4 until the enemy is dead. You can repeat 3 if you still want, but I found that I could kill 2 enemy drakes before replacing my own even with only doing point 3 once.

Using this method, I didn't get any arcane surges - they just died far too quick. For whatever reason, after the first 5 point application (22 secs) using only one combo point application of the dot refreshes it to 13 secs; giving ample time to get another stack on and refresh the duration.

On a final note, for this quest at least, use Auto Self Cast (Interface => Combat => Auto Self Cast). I usually have it off and use a mod called "Right Wing" which self casts on a right click of an ability, but it doesn't work with pet bars. And trust me, it's a LOT easier just having to press 3 (revivfy) than press it then click yourself. ^^

The attack is on a 1 second GCD instead of 1.5, so you can hit your flame attack faster than you might be used to with player charaacters. It's important that you use your attacks quickly in order to build the 5 combo points before Revivify.

Revivify wipes all combo points. So, do not alter between attacks and revivifies without using a finishing move. This may through off druids who are used to mixing HOTs and attacks.

This quest is actually very similar to the experience of druid stacking HOT healing, except there's only 1 target rather than 25. ;)

I found a way which was much easier, and faster.

Hot your dragon 5 times with the 3-key.

Then engage a mob. Fire twice with the 1-key, followed by the 2-key. Then re-hot once to keep the 5x hot going. Repeat until mob is dead.

Start: 5x Hot
Each mob: 2x 1-key, 1x 2-key, target own dragon, 1x 3 key - repeat.

This way you stack more and more dots on the dragon (the 2-key) and it takes more and more damage.

I did this quest in no time this way. Try it out :-)

After playing with this for a bit, I found the easiest way to do it was:

1. Pre-load 5 stack of Revivify
2. Attack mob building a 5 stack of the regular attack
3. Attack mob with damage finisher
4. Apply one Revivify to keep full HoT stack rolling
5. Attack mob using 3 regular attack
6. Return to 3

Some people have been saying after the first finisher, to just just use one regular and then finisher but the problem with that is finishers are very expensive and you'll often find you're out of Energy when Arcane Surge comes. Even with full stacks of Revivify, a full blast Arcane Surge still hurts like hell and can often kill you.

Although i did do it in a party, It looked to be easily soloable just make sure you keep a 5 stack of the HoT on you at all times. just spam attack + dot and when needed use the heal. If @#$% hits the fan, use blazing speed and get back to the questgiver's platform.

The Scalesworn Elite have several abilities you need to be aware of which makes this difficult.

Melee - Physical damage, 9,000 to 11,000
Ice Shard - Frost damage, 1 sec cast, 4713 - 5287
Arcane Surge - Arcane Damage, 3 sec cast, 23563 - 26437 per second for 3 seconds

Your Drake

Your Wyrmrest Skytalon acts as a rogue. It generates combo points, has finishers, and uses energy. You have 100,000 health even.

Your abilities are:

1. Flame Spike - 10 Energy - Fire damage, your basic attack, and hits for ~1k generating 1 combo point
2. Engulf in Flames - 50 Energy - Fire damage, Finishing move DoT (1500 every 3), CPs add duration
3. Revivify - 10 Energy - Heal Over Time, 500 per second, stacks to 5
4. Life Burst - 50 Energy - AoE Heal (60yd friendly), 2,500 + (2500 * CP) over 5 * CP seconds
5. Flame Shield - 25 Energy - Reduces all damage taken by 80% for 1 + CP seconds
6. Blazing Speed - Increase Flight speed by 500% for 8 sec

Strategy

Your drake has little to no damage absorption. The values above are what you're going to take, so stack the Revivify to 5 before pulling a target. To use Revivify keep your mouse in the middle of your screen, cast it so your cursor glows and click on your dragon.

Fly straight up from Corastrasza and move in only slightly, solo you'll want to focus on the outer ring of dragons that fly in circles. Take some time targetting to find what range and watching flight patterns.

Once you have a target begin your rotation:

- Stack Revivify to 5
- Pull target using Flame Spike
- Flame Spike enemy 4 more times
- Engulf Enemy
- Revivify yourself to renew timer
- Repeat 5 Flame Spike , Engluf , Revivify

If your health dips below 50% and the enemy is still above 50%, generate 2 combo points and then Life Burst , and Revivify yourself. This will generate a 750 per second heal on top of your stacked Revivify and should sustain you.

Addendum: Revivify builds combo points, but only on Friendly targets, not Hostile. Target your drake by clicking on the pet Unit frame and cast Revivify to generate combo points for using Life Burst.

If the enemy dragon begins casting Arcane Surge and you're currently in a Flame Spike rotation, cast Flame Shield to give yourself the 80% damage reduction. If you take full damage from an Arcane Surge you are likely to drop. Remember to restack Revivify afterwards to keep it going you will still take damage.

Here is the simplest strategy. It relies on three abilities:
- Flame Spike
- Life Burst
- Fire Shield

Repeat:
1) Use Flame Spike to 5x combo points.
2) Wait for your energy to reach 90%
3) Use Life Burst

This three part strategy will cause you to win. Ignore Revivify and Engulf in Flames they add nothing.

The only complexity is added by their ability called "Arcane Surge." To survive "Arcane Surge" you need to have at least one combo point on the mob and to use Fire Shield at the last possible second.

This is why we wait for your energy to be at 90% before Life Burst. So you'll have enough to Flame Strike + Fire Shield if she does it right after one of your Life Bursts.

My biggest problem with this is that Revivify actually states it awards a combo point upon use, when it actually wipes the points clean, giving you NO bonus in doing so...

Also, like almost every other "mounted" quest that, under the normal UI, opens up this new bar they specifically use, bar mods will tend to glitch every now and then. Whenever I encounter these quests, I immediately log now, because I'm sick and tired of trial and error, only to end up dying and taking further durability damage.

A word to the wise, do this quest, and the daily thereafter, naked. Unless you find some miracle strategy that absolutely never fails, are in a group, or Blizz fixes Revivify, you're most definitely going to fail and fall.

If the drake dies, you get an infinite parachute (won't expire until you hit solid ground) unlike the parachute you get from getting auto-dismounted in wintergrasp/dalaran that only lasts 30 seconds).

Of course, it'll be a long fall and a long way up again if you drop all the way down, so fighting over solid ground still is a good idea. Unless you're a druid, of course.

You can of course block line of sight on enemy attacks to buy time to heal, shield for another pass, or to prevent arcane surge from connecting in the first place, thus allowing you to spend combo points on Engulf. While this isn't as easy as just cycling between Flame Spike+Shield, it is a lot faster and more fun. Plus, I think that kind of dogfighting is what they had in mind when they named this quest Aces High.

Build 5 combo points with your attack, then use the DoT. After this, build 5 combo points with your heal, and then use the healing finisher. Then repeat this until dead. Do not worry about refreshing the HoT, since you will be trying to build up 5 healing combo points anyway.

Without using the shield at all, you will be able to take them down no problem, but if you for whatever reason find yourself at less than half health, save the shield for the Arcane Surge ability. It hurts.

Revivify is extremely annoying to cast if auto self cast is not enabled. Go to menu (esc), interface and combat to enable auto self cast. Now hitting your revivify hotkey automatically heals yourself. You do not need a macro to revivify your pet unless you want to keep it disabled and find this too inconvenient.

Revivify does not require combo points, BUT IT CONSUMES THEM. Ideally you want to use revivify after you have used a finisher.

A one point and five point engulf in flames deal the same amount of damage. Only the duration changes. Your goal is to stack the debuff as quickly as possible.

If two or more dragons attack you, escape unless you are certain you can kill them. The surviving dragon(s) will continue attacking you as you parachute down.

This is one of the most annoying quests i've done. I'm sitting here doing everything they're telling me above, and each time the dragon did an arcane blasts then my health drops to 0 and i parachute down below for the next 5 minutyes. Finally got to a 1x3, 2, 5, repeat rotation and kept that and it worked. Still, annoying.

The way i did it i ended with full hp after each dragon.

Keep revivy(key3) up all troughout the fight, refresh it at the last second for max benefit (it doesn't awards combo points, infact it will remove all of your combo points, so use it wisely, eg right after popping Flame Shield(key5))
Cast Flame Spike(key1) all the time untill you get 5 points then cast Flame Shield(key5)
If your target starts using his ability before you get 5 points then pop it right before his casting bar eaches the end for max benefit.

Engulf in Flames(key2) uses to much energy to be of any use.

Example:
Start with Hot on 5 stacks
Cast Key1 untill you reach 5 points
Cast key5
Cast key3
Cast key1 untill you reach 5 points
Cast key5
Cast key3 (you should now have 1 second left to refresh your HOT, it's like Blizzard ment for us to do it this way)
Cast key1 untill you reach 5 points
Cast key5
Cas...
Repeat

Unfortunately, if your not good at it and die a lot, since you have to spirit rez if you die on the ground, repairs will probably cost more than the reward unless you put all gear in bank beforehand

Uh, what? My dragon I was riding on died the first three times i tried killing one of the blue dragons. Each time that happened i was dismounted and got a buff, "parachute" that let me float to the ground. Also, once the dragon i was on died, the blue dragon i was fighting immediately went into evade mode, stopped attacking and did not attack me. IMO your point is moot unless you intentionally attack one of the blue dragons using your CHARACTER while NOT riding on the back of a bronze dragon.

Actually, they can kill you if you fall off your drake without having to hit them. If you are too close a drake when you dismount, it will aggro on to you and hit you as you're slow falling. And if you're a squishy like me, it will likely kill you instantly.

Happened to me and my dead body landed on one of the platforms. I had to resort to a spirit res. Ouch.

Extremely annoying quest.

If you die and land on the platform, you cannot reach your corpse, so have to res at the spirit healer and wait out the res sickness + pay for all the damage.

I don't know if this quest has been made harder since some patch, but i wouldn't say it's easy at all - it wastes a LOT of time when your mount dies and you have a 2 minute parachute fall. You certainly can't keep 5 debuffs up and heal yourself as the energy bar regenerates much too slowly. It's really down to luck whether you kill anything or yet again watch yourself floating around for 2 minutes. Since there are many pats, it's very hard to finish one off before ads arrive and kill your mount.

Unless you really need the rep, avoid.

Here is a quick guide for everyone who is in a guild with potential to someday go for Malygos:

Go to Librarian Serrah (33.5 , 34.4) in Coldarra
Obtain the quest
Deliver it to Corastrasza (29.5 , 24.8), she is on top of a platform -you need to fly
Get the daily quest (first time you even get a blue item) and repeat it until
you only dream about flying around doing this daily when you sleep!

This way you get gold and reputation, and the we (the guild members) can do Malygos
easier on Phase 3 and hopefully not wipe once we get there to it...

What a joke, I finished it before it becomes a daily, but after that I died so many times trying it again & a few times after my dragon died they still attacked me up on the ledge. I couldn't even get to my body way up there & had to spirit rez TWICE. I was trying it naked afterwards. This is totally not worth the chance of dying/repairs & time spent all for 14 gold and a whole whopping 250 rep.

I find that you can pull a dragon with your first skill then fly back to the platform over Keristrasa. Then if you die the attacking dragon will reset and you will gently parachute the few metres down to the platform where you can jump on another dragon and try again.

fastest way to the ground is to take off all your gear, used a mod (Outfitter), and then remove the parachute buff. You fall really fast to the ground, and no durability loss =). Then just run back to your corpse

** You have to talk to Corastrasza (the questgiver) again to mount up on a drake. The mobs you want to kill are UP UP UP at the top of the central structure, about 30 seconds' flying away.

** If you are having difficulty with combat and the abilities:

This will kill the mob without any thinking required, will survive his nasty Arcane Surge, and will rarely run you out of energy.

I was doing this and did get the parachute, but one of the dragons decided to keep attacking me and killed me in 3 hits. I didn't make it all the way to the ground and could not reach my corpse, so I had to spirit rez.

Introducing EZ mode. Take out a drake in about 45 seconds or less with 85-100% of your drakes health left! Read on if interested.

#1: Stack your HoT onto yourself 5 times - ahh, isn't that sound of wind beautiful? Until you engage in combat in Step 2, make sure when you hear that windy noise stop that soon after you re-apply that HoT at least one to keep it "ticking" at 2500 (you won't actually see it doing this, but it will - and it keeps you at about 100 energy interestingly).

#2: Use your basic fire attack to pull your enemy, and stack three combo points with it.

#3: Stack a DoT on the enemy using up those three combo points. At this points, stack your HoT to refresh it.

The next step depends on whether you see your foe building up a mana surge..

#4 / Mana Surge: If it just so happens the drake is about to blast you out of the air, make sure you have at least 2 - preferably 3 - combo points, and shield right as it casts the spell. In doing this, your DoT on the drake will likely disappear over the time it takes to build up your Combo Points for your shield, the Combo Points for your next DoT, and the re-casting of your HoT to keep your 2500 Hp regain ticking up. If this happens, you're usually at 85-100% health anyway, and your target is not. So it's kinda like a reset of the battle working in your favor.

#4 / No Mana Surge: 80% if the time, if not more, and sometimes not at all for the whole fight - the idiotic blue drakes will not cast mana Surge - which happens to be the only way they can prolong their death. After re-casting your HoT, you basically repeat steps #2 and #3 until eventually you have 3 or 4 stacks of your DoT on the target, Each stack ticks for 1500 damage, and re-stacking a new DoT on top of the old ones refreshes the ones already there!

Essentially, the 3 combo points strategy has worked better for me (way way better in fact) then when I employed the same strategy using only 2 combo points or 4 combo points. 3 seems to be the magic number with this type of thing.

If indeed whatever idiot drake your fighting decides he's l33t sauce and doesn't need mana surge, it's not uncommon to have 6000 or 7500 damage ticking on them by the time they're at 20-30% health. I've never had a drake use Mana Surge more than once on me in any given fight no matter what strategy I employed.

The summary goal of this strategy is to always keep your HoT ticking up at 2500 and try to apply as many DoTs to the drake as you can so he'll GTFO and die quickly. Shielding for Mana Surge of course, but that often risks losing your DoT stack on the enemy.

Oh, and when the fight ends, don't forget to keep your HoT up!

By far the easiest and safest way to do this quest is to use the following strat:

Pull an elite over above Corastratza.

then keep spamming 1 until the elite is dead.

head back down to Corstratza and get a new drake with full health.

If you are a pet class, make sure to have it on passive or even better get rid of it!

If you don't do this and loose a fight the dragon will become aggressive and attack/kill you. Got killed a few times before I figured this out. Once I tried it without pet I never had that problem again.

1. Fly around looking for a target while keeping Revivify stacked to 5.

2. Once you have a target, use Flame Spike x 5 to stack 5 combo points, and follow with a Flame Shield.

3. After Flame Shield casts, target yourself and refresh your 5-stack of Revivify.

4. Flame Spike x 5 on your target, and cast Engulf in Flames.

5. Target yourself again, and refresh Revivify.

6. Flame Spike x 5 on your target, and cast Flame Shield again.

Use this alternate pattern, as it both kills your target fairly quickly, and doesn't put you in danger of dying. When I use this method, the lowest I ever drop to is 50% or so if he uses Arcane Surge while my Shield is down.

1: I found it best to stack Revivify (BUTTON 3) 5 times as I'm flying up.
2: Pick your target and make it your focus ( /focus for those not aware).
3: Flame Spike (BUTTON 1) 3 or 4 times.
4: Engulf in Flames (BUTTON 2) 1 time.
5: Target self.
6: Revivify (BUTTON 3) 1 time to keep HoT active.
7: Target focus (either by clicking on the mob itself or on the focus bar you have set).
8: Repeat 3-6 until target is dead.

There will be a time or two where you won't have the energy for button 2 or 3 right away, but spam the button until you are able to cast it. Then move on to the next step. Also, while this may leave no energy for a Flame Shield, if you do it properly and exactly as above, the target will die before he gets a chance to cast Arcane Surge and you won't need it at all.

I just did the initial quest and the daily (so did this 10 times in a row). It was very frustrating at first but by the time I started the daily after completing the initial quest, I had figured out a rotation that worked and guaranteed the death of Scalesworn and not of myself. :)

Using the dot ability (2) with 5 combo points will only make it last longer, not do more damage per tick, as has being stated before. I've tried this for a few days, and sometimes it would take me over 20m to complete the quest, always losing a few drakes in the process.

After actually doing Malygos, i started to use the strategy employed by my raid: 2 combo (1) and finish with a dot (2), repeat, in other words: 1, 1, 2, 1, 1, 2 ... Keep your energy up at all times, whenever he decides to cast the "Arcane Surge", if you have combos, WAIT until the cast finishes, then use the shield. If you don't have combos, but kept your energy up, with 3s cast time you can easily gather 2 combos and shield yourself (and if you kept your energy at Zero, well, you will probably die on phase 3, whenever you get there). Usually i manage to get 3-4 stacks before worrying about my life. After that, if i feel my health is low, I'll 5 point combo and use the AOE heal (remember, there's no offensive/defensive combos, combos are related to your target).

Keep in mind that 4 stacks will do 6k per tick. If, for any reason, your dot wear off, start over with 1, 1, 2, 1, 1, 2.

It's not unsual for me now to kill a drake and still have 50% life, without a single heal during the fight.

As mentioned before, stacking 5 heals on yourself right after pulling a drake is helpful. Also, NEVER stay in melee range.

Last, at first it may be helpful to fight over one of the hovering platforms. If you get your drake killed, you won't have to wait for the parachute fall all the way to the bottom. Only once i was killed by the enemy drakes when i landed on the platform (after mine was dead), not sure why yet.

A really punishing quest.

I didnt know the keys so I attacked my first dragon thinking I'd see as I go along. But didn''t make it, drake got killed with him at 10% so I parachute down onto the ring. Then the dragon frostbolted me for 4000 per hit every 2 seconds until I dies. Ressed down at the base so had no chance but to resurrect at the spirit healer.

Put 5 Revivfy stacks on you first, then enter in combat with a mob, then use Flame Spike 5 times, then activate Flame Shield, this will protect you for 6 secs, after casting Flame Shield, cast Revivfy on yourslef once to keep the 5 stacked heal on you. After this, do the same starting with the 5 Flame Spikes.

Done VERY easily when you can master the dragon!

I can handle the drake just fine on malygos but when it comes to solo these drakes I just can't do it. I killed 5 of them on ground as a 25man naxx geared prot warrior. They hit very hard though but can be stunned.

This isn't as hard as some people make it to be.
The strategy I used (I never died with this one) is as follows:

Stack up 5 Revivify (HOT) before you engage your first drake.
As you attack, keep your distance as their melee attacks do more damage.
Attack using Flame Spike five times. Now you are ready to use those combo points.
Cast Engulf in Flames (DOT) on your target and repeat.
Now you should have Engulf in Flames stacked twice.
Cast Flame Spike 5 times.
Cast Life Burst.
Cast Revivify 5 times.

You may have to stop rotation to cast Flame Shield if starts to cast on you.

If you think you're not going to make it, make sure you are flying over a platform so you don't have to try to aim for one.

Couldn't get the macro to work properly.

What I did:

Spam 3 to 5 then 1 to 2 or 3 then hit 2 and most fights I win.

Simple.

What to watch out for:

1. For some reason, if your dragon does die (usually when you fight more than 1) sometimes they target you as your falling and you more than likely die.
2. If you're body lands on a platform, you can't fly up to it like you can in Icecrown or Storm Peaks,
so get ready to rez at the graveyard and all its drawbacks.
3. I they don't target you as your falling, you can guide yourself to a platform to remount.

This quest is extremely difficult and annoying. Not worth the rewards or the daily rep imo. Once you start fighting one drake, you're very likely to aggro another, making all strategies useless.

This is the worst quest in the game. The dragons often continue to attack you after your mount dies, and you often end up dead on a platform, and can't get back to your body. This results in very expensive spirit rez's (these damage all the gear in your bags, so doing the quest naked doesn't help this). The quest has a very steep learning curve (which is why everybody has their favorite exact sequence of keys to hit or macros to help them out) which is a very bad combination with not being able to get back to your body. Even worse is that it is necessary practice for Malygos, so you really need to master it if you want to do that instance. All that is necessary is to make the dragons drop aggro after they kill your mount, or have your ghost spawn on a flying mount, as it does elsewhere when you die up high in the air. This needs fixed very badly.

This was really easy if you just follow my rotation.
First you stack the Revivify 5 times and when it comes close to 0 use it 1 more time, that will refresh it so you will have 5 stacks for another 10 sec. Innsted of spamming Flame shield try Life Burst Which also increase healing done by 50%. Just spam Flame spike to get combo points and when you see him casting arcane ........... Just pop up Flame Shield. Plz rate this :D

If this is followed right you will have about 80-100% health when you have killed a Scalesworn Elite.

My best luck seems to be full revivify, then 1, 1, 1, 2, 3, repeat, usually don't even need shield and rarely go below 85% health.

Grab a dragon out of the crowd first with a single flame spike, make sure you're at full revivify while you move over to a platform (this avoids pulling more than one and will let you land close to the questgiver if the worst happens) and then go to town. I've never, ever had any issues with this simple rotation.

You can also just use the quick and dirty method.

spam "Flame Spike" and keep "Flame Shield" up at all times you will lose a lot of health so you need to heal inbetween fights, but it seems safe enough and is quite simple to do.

I use no bar mods anymore and just put the macro button on the bottom right action bar above my backpack, then went to keybindings in my interface options and bound bottom right action bar 12 to the ` button (just left of the one). Worked like a charm 10 down effortlessly, only spot I was worried about was when I had 2 on me but it worked well enough to get me out of it. You may wonder how 10, 5 for the quest and 5 for the daily.

Having watched helplessly as several drakes died one after the other and & then I died on a platform (Spirit Rez? Why, thank you Blizzard! Here, you don't you have my first born too...) it was time to check the forums.

I tried the 1, 1, 2 sequence (as in Malygos) with heals in between which was marginally more successful than my previous strategy (sort of flopping about on the keyboard like a drowning fish) but the drakes kept dying & I only managed to kill 3 elites before my brain started dribbling out of my ears.

Using this keybound macro - yes, it's sort of cheating but I don't care, they took my only child remember - I finished the quest easily and without uttering a further profanity. It took a while but I suirvived easily, even when another Elite joined the one I was attacking. Highly recommended, especially if you're a bit rubbish like me.

The comment by niil945 a few comments up is extremely good.

Without having read it, I essentially arrived at the same cast sequence after some painful experimentation (yes, including a spirit rez)...

What's vital is that you keep the stack of Revivify up on yourself, and if at all possible keep stacking Engulf in Flames on the target. This will not work if you try to chain 5 Flame Spikes. The times where I managed to keep the Engulf stacked properly, the blue dragon died too fast to cast his Arcane Surge so keeping combo points for that was not an issue.

The tip about the dragon's melee is hugely helpful, I was not aware of this, but that's probably why I seemed to drop like a brick some times and do much better on others.

Be careful about drawing adds as a) I failed twice because of an add when my original target was at less than 10k health which was more than frustrating and b) the add will keep aggro once you're off the drake, likely leading to a spirit rez.

Bottom line:
- Stack 5 Revivify before engaging
- Do not use Revivify after Flame Spike as it consumes combo points (I know it's not supposed to according to the tooltip but factually it does. If I tried to use it before a finisher, I no longer had any combo points. Using it after a finisher is no problem.)
- Do 2 Flame Spikes, Engulf in Flame, Revivify. This should keep the stack of Revivify going on you and stack Engulf in Flame on the enemy.
- If your health seems to drop too quickly, use a Life Burst after 2 Flame Spikes instead of the Engulf in Flame.
- If the dragon does start using arcane surge while you're sitting with no combo points, quickly do 2 Flame Spikes then use Flame Shield. This will prevent the worst.

PLEASE RATE THIS COMMENT - the other comments miss the basics and it took me many days and many deaths to complete this quest.

The graphical feedback in the air does not let you know what is really happening.
So the only way to know you've successfully received a combo point is when a dot appears to the right of the portrait of the dragon.
The only confirmation of successful use the 2 key is when the combo dots disappear.
Remember the 2 key is a DOT, so in a close fight, use the 2 key even if there are fewer than 5 dots. I died, but received credit why the DOT killed the dragon while I was in my parachute.
You can avoid the cost of repairs by removing your armor before doing this quest. I forgot this, but completed the quest in red armor (at the cost of 40g in repairs).

Mount, fly straight up, certain dragons circle around to your target range so you can mostly stay right above the quest giver. If you have to just scoot forward, shoot and back up.

Stack Revivify (#3) and engage. Rev is a lot like shields in mounted combat for Trial of Champions, once you max you only have to hit it once to recharge and *stay* maxed as long as its within the countdown period, in this case 9 seconds.

Spam #1 (its almost rapid fire), hit #3 every 5-6 sec for good measure, hit #5 for shields for extra protection when there are damage points available (doesn't have to be all five). If you get really low on health hit #4 instead of #5.

The fact is for some of these quests, including this one, it doesn't matter what the target is doing, stick to the attack plan and you win.

Just wanted to mention, it helps to back off from the drake once it's closed distance; the melee hits can crit pretty heavily and it will significantly reduce your recovery time to avoid them. It doesn't seem like they follow you (at least not very frequently) after the initial approach.

(I follow the "1-2-1-1-2-3, repeat 1-1-2-3 til dead" strategy someone else mentioned, it works just fine.)

Dunno if you could do this before, but you dont need to use her mounts. I just fly up a little bit from one of the high platforms, dismount, and shoot. As an 85, they go down super quick.

If you are lvl 85 and ranged, don't bother mounting the drake. Fly your mount up to the top of Nexus, and kill them yourself. This can be soloed with a mage just standing up there.

The only frustrating thing is waiting for 1 to spawn low enough to target after the second or third kill. My sugestion would be to mount up, fly through one to aggro, land, and the beat/melt it's face.

I found that strafing around your target seemed to work ok.

That doesn't stop the quest from being a pain in the butt. Getting your drake killed and very slowly falling to the ground with your parachute is painful, it takes ages to fall from the top and landing on a platform isn't always achievable.

I find that this sequence works the best
when you start take the dragon and fly straight up stack 3 up five times and keep it going by hiting 3 every 3 or 4 second don't worry its not enough to drane your energy target a dragon that flyes close enough to you to huit with your first 1 attack keep your 3 up until you first stick when you start your attack you will want to hit keys as follows

don't worry about rezing thay fixed it so that you rez with your body at the grave if you die most of the time you don't. you just float back down right next to quest giver and start it over again oh this quest gives you 350 wyrmrest accord reputation and 250 every time you do the daily there after

Tried twice, and there's something I'm obviously missing. Each time I took off, I immediately got a message, "Return to Nexus"! I tried doing a 180, but both times I ended up parachuting down (which takes forever). Based on the other comments posted here, I'm not sure I'll try again (though I desperately want to boost my Wyrmrest Accord rep).

just did it in classic wrath, this seems to be way more difficult than intended.
here is how I did it, maybe not the best way, but it works:

at the start fly straight up, so you land on Corastraszas platform when your drake dies.
if you die while slowfalling onto the plattform you insta resawn (no corpse walk)
forget about 5 + 6
spam 3 to 5 stacks prefight and press every ~8 sec to refresh
spam 1 for damage and to build combo points
spend combo points to heal yourself with 4 and maintain it's buff on yourself 100% of the time
if you are giga fine on health, spend combo points on 2 for extra damage

Be careful with this one , mount died , I parachuted , immediately died , my corpse was stuck on a floating ring , I couldnt get it , no one could find it to res me, eventually stumbled around and took a hit and found the spirit resser again , just avoid.

Really easy.
Just make sure you don't have 2 dragons on you because your dragon will most likely die.

First get 5 stacks of healing (3). Then rotation in fight is 3 - 1 - 1 - 2 - 3.
First 3 is purely to refresh your healing at the begin of the fight.
