The drakes for this quest are flying around here at well over 30 yards, so just use the 80-yard spear to grab them. No need to wait for them to come close to ground.

You don't have to kill them, just use the spear and tank it for 25 seconds. Afterwards, go back to the quest giver before the 3 minute timer is up, or you'll have to go back and capture another drake.

You can carry them back in Ghost Wolf form, so I assume druids can also use travel form since they have the same mechanics.

Probably worth mentioning that if you run too far away from the spot where you threw the spear, the bugger will deaggro and you're screwed with a 3 min cd on the spear :o

I collected my drake and went back to camp. I accidentally attacked a member of the enemy faction who was standing on the quest giver (I know, I fell for the oldest trick in the book!), and I was killed by the guards. But when I resurrected, I was still able to turn in!

I wasted an hour on this quest. 90% of the time that I found one, it was one that someone else was hauling back. The other 10% of the time, I couldn't get close enough to use the spear.

Don't bother trying unless it's an off-peak time on your server.

ok thats great that u can use the harpoon with in 80yards or on a mount. But where do u use it or did no one think of showing where u can be able to use it on a mount or with in 80 yards.
so ya that great but whats the point an knowing that with not being able to use it.!

I recommend mounting once you've catched your dragon, it speeds things up which is great as you only have 3 minutes to turn it in to the questgiver.

I got my drake and was flying back to turn in. I had to pop divine shield on my way back and when I got to the camp I could not turn in my drake.

This could be a bug, but would not be the first time Divine Shield prevented an action.

Make sure to have View Distance at maximum or near-maximum. I had it very low, and couldn't see them. When I increased - they were everywhere!

PS. The map about the location is wrong. They're in the western area.

BUG in 3.2.2

If you use the harpoon on the drake, then get on your flying mount to lead it back to the questgiver, the drake will NOT become 'Captured', and will just die at the end of the 3-minute buff.

Be careful not to fly too close to the Nexus Watchers overhead. They WILL aggro, knock you out of the sky, and kill you. Happened to me today while doing this quest.

this quest only give 3 min after you capture the drake hatchling. after capture it , mount-up! and run to Raelorasz!
the drake will follow as fast as your mount ! so no problem!

Important for Mages: Do not use Ice Block when attempting to capture the dragon. You will not receive the required debuff to get credit for the quest. The dragon will still follow you, however, but the debuff is what is needed to receive credit and evidently turn it in.

This quest can get very annoying/frustrating when:

A.) You use a flying mount after capturing the drake and aggro a Nexus Watcher that kills you after dismounting you.

B.) After shooting the harpoon at the drake, it flies away and you have to wait 3 min and 20 seconds to try again.

I died 4 times before completing this quest. Am I a failure?

Just want to add my 2c... One pretty reliable method if you have stealth, would be to run into the ravine surrounding the Nexus, all the way to the area with the hatchlings (as indicated by the blue map area), perch on a nearby outcrop of rock, wait for a hatchling to pass by, and spear it.

Then run through the ravine, back to the camp. You should make it back with time to spare since the ravine cuts right across the map, and you won't risk aggro-ing Nexus Watchers.

No idea if it would work well without stealth, but Arcane Serpents usually fly some distance away from the floor of the ravines, so...

This is a good spot, I also did well at 31:29 standing on an outcrop. Easier to fly there is you have a flying mount as it is surrounded by pats, but they are asy pickings imho. I was also able to mount an ebon griffin and bring the drakeling in that way. I did accidenty spooky another drakeling on the way into the shield and was killed inside the shield, but I got the turn in automatically so all good :) Nice and easy solo as a 74 balance druid. Also do 'the cell" at the same time so you can and tun them in together. :)

I have a problem i inject the red blood in it and i tank it for over 25seconds and he STILL attacks me and i try to move and "Interuppted" comes up on the screen.

Many locations just a fast respond site is 29/24. Use your Harpoon he gave you and aim for a dragon with blue under wings the elite is white the one you want is blue under the wings. You can find him while doing other quest in the area but this is a daily too.

found one at 22/27, look up in the sky and harpoon it, u got to take 25 secs of aggro to calm him down so pull him to safe spot coz the mobs are densely populated and spawn quick in the area

top of a nice hill, no mobs around, sit and wait for one to fly by, really easy once I found this place. Didn't need to fight the dragon, just harpoon and wait for it to calm down, leave combat and ride back.
