The set bonus for the 2 items is very very nice. And that kind of stat regeneration on an item is awesome. Although, HP5 is going away in Cataclysm, so it is curious if this will change or they will leave it on the item. Guess we will find out eventually!

This comes to 204 health per tick, since Hp5 ticks every two seconds. Thats 6120 health every minute. So multiply that by the average time of a boss fight and you see what this will heal for over the entire fight.

Quite underwhelming.

I did some quick theorycrafting, and found that (using the holy priest values from http://genericwow.com/blog/?p=131 in 3.2.2), this trinket combination does have its place when for healers at least, especially those that favor Mp5.

I compared using these two trinkets to the Eye of the Broodmother/Illustration of the Dragon Soul combo, and if you are in a fight that favors mana regeneration, this combo actually wins out, even without the proc. However, if you are in a fight that favors throughput, you are better off w/ the Eye/Illustration combination of trinkets.

Perhaps I would be whiped to death if I say this but this thing set gives a lot for a lock who has problems with saving mana.

Heal value is 2269-2773 for 232 set, 2530-3092 for 245, and a single tick heal (unlike Forethought Talisman). The damaging effect is a dot however, and does 2862 and 3192 damage for the 232 and 245 sets respectively. I know nothing about any cooldown, but I would assume a 45 second cooldown.

There's at least one hidden use for the health regen trinkets. If you acquire both versions of the Shard of the Flame (232 and 245 from 10 and 25-man) you have nearly 1100 HP/5. That is useless for nearly all level 80 pve encounters, and I wouldn't really argue its use over a pvp trinket and a throughput/dps/battlemaster trinket pair for pvp, but you'll have to decide that for yourself.

However, farming level 70 or 60 encounters, it might have some benefit. It might be possible for a number of classes that couldn't solo, say, the tiger or raptor bosses in ZG, to solo those same bosses if they had a significant amount of health regen... 576 health from the 245, 510 from the 232, and 20 health from a battle elixir gives 1100 health per 5 seconds. I'm sure someone will find some creative use for it.

Whether it's less trouble to just find a healer or another dps to 2-man it... You'll have to decide that for yourself, too.

That's interesting that HP/5 is being removed in Cataclysm. My first thought upon seeing this trinket was that it would be a fantastic leveling trinket next expansion. Classes that take damage and have very few healing mechanisms like warriors and rogues would get use out of the HP/5 trinket alone. All hybrids would adore the combo for leveling efficiency, and mages would do very well with both as well.

Depending on changes come cataclysm, I intend to farm Ony to grab these trinkets for whichever character I choose to level to 85.

Are this one and the 25-man version equippable at the same time?
Caus 1086hp/5secs would make this combo great for farming mobs.
Especially the ones for rep, like the Venture co guys in Grizzly Hills for goblin rep! (insane in the membrane FoS)
Ofcourse being a rogue the chances on getting both or even one of them is like ><

These two trinkets seem the most logical for a lock, i know at 80 mana tapping isn't that big of a problem health-wise, but it could help getting a couple more off without worrying.

Anyone know if the searing flames effect has an internal cooldown? Ive been looking for an answer everywhere and cant seem to find one.

apparently you didn't look too hard. To quote KinoBors post on the proc:

1. The 10 man version of the trinket dps proc "Searing Flames" rates in at about 2% of total damage in my inital testing but will be most likely affected positively by debuffs like Earth and Moon for druids. I tested without any raid enhancement debuffs.

2. It does have a cooldown for the proc estimated to be Blizzard's standard 45 seconds and has 12 seconds uptime.

3. It does not appear to work on dot ticks, only inital applications or direct damage spells.

4. It has a healthy proc rate, probably 15% chance. Extensive testing will be needed to pin down the actual rate.

I have been using this set for a few weeks now on my holy priest, and really looked into what the cauterizing heals do.

Was in TOGC yesterday. And was really sad about what Cauterizing hels did...

It healed for about 1.5% of my healing pool.

The real sad part is that it is in constant overheal, Skada reports that cauterizing heals was constantly between 60-70% overhealing......

So yeah HP5 and MP5 is great

As for Cauterizing Heals go............. will pass... it is NOT SMART at all, it is dumber than dumb lol

If the fight lasts longer than 1 minute, this is better.

Stamina doesn't just give you the extra health to begin the fight with, it gives you extra health every time you're healed to full (technically, it gives you extra health every time you're healed past the amount of health you'd have without it).

Suppose you have 50k health and can either take this trinket or one that increases your max health to 55k. This trinket gives you ~6k health every minute but the other trinket gives you health every time you're healed to over 50k. Without that extra stamina any healing that would put you over 50k would be overhealing, but because of the increased max health it isn't. If you're a tank you'll be healed to full quite often. If it happens once every 30 seconds then the 5k health is equivalent to 10k health per minute.

For some fights the health regen might be more effective than stamina but I wouldn't boldly say that it's better for all fights longer than one minute.

This is a GRATE trinket for a soloing warrior as myself
This trinket (pref combinded with the 245one) makes it possible for me to solo the nightmare dragons
now THATS epic

wont roll over some caster who REALY needs it, but solo spec is my offspec so i guess i get a offspec roll ;)
