An absolutely beautiful shield. It has some very nice RP possibilities for either Forsaken or humans using it, especially if they have some sort of background in Lordaeron.

As for the stats, it is very comparable to https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=42508, but with some more threat stats in place of defense.

I would like to say, that this is by far the best raiding shield you can get your hands on. It got everything, and while Titansteel Shield Wall surely comes close, the 25 hitrating surely outdoes it. 15 defense rating I can surely live without.

The look on the other hand, is a bit wierd on a tauren warrior ..

I swapped a +20 defense rating enchant on mine.

Crygils is a good choice when are defense capped and can begin to spend points on other avoidance stats instead.

I'd only take Skull of Ruin as a trash tanking shield/solo shield, since it offers massive threat compared to the others, but got zero hit on it.

Titansteel Shield Wall is for when you need to be defensecapped fast.

Crygil's Discarded Plate Panel has 0.43% more avoidance than the Royal Crest, and is better as long as you are at at least the defense minimum for heroics/raids (535 and 540 respectively). Although the Crest's looks may make up for the slight drop in avoidance :P

Drops in Heroic, Got mine in my first Heroic Run. Replacing my Titanshield.

Throw a Titanium spike,Stam or defense on it and you wont replace this baby till you get the skull of ruin.

I saw this drop when I had to come here on my hunter (it was the daily heroic that time), I must say though it is beautiful. I cannot wait for my warrior to have this. Although the stat on the defense disappointed me, but I still like it anyways -.-

Not true at all. A quite a few Humans managed to evacuate Lordaeron before everything went south. And it wouldn't be stretching things to say that most Human Mages, and probably Warlocks, came from the Kingdom of Lordaeron, before going to Dalaran for schooling.

Indeed, most of Azeroth's current Human population probably stayed there at one point in their lives, seeing as until the Second War ended, there weren't many other places to stay. Poor old Humans. By the end of the Third War, most of their population had bounced from the South to the North, and then back South again.

Who even needs hit rating at the moment? If you're having trouble with threat, PEBKAC (problem exists between keyboard and chair).

Hit rating has no bearing on your DPS output?

Wake up and smell the WotLK, man. Your job isn't just to stand around and absorb damage anymore. You're responsible for dealing as much DPS as possible while doing so, and most tanks (with your attitude) come up far short of their actual capabilities because they just don't think that's "their job."

It is, so if you want to Tank WotLK you better get used to it and start working Expertise, Hit, AP, STR and SBV into your gear configurations accordingly.

ugh, i've run H CoS everyday now for the past two weeks and this still hasn't dropped. I wish it was better, 'cause at this rate i have a feeling i'll be getting one of the better shields to drop before this, and never get a chance to use the coolest looking item in the game.

I'm curious to see if they ever use this model again, possibly with other colors and a different crest

I play a level 80 Protection Warrior (Talent spec 0/18/53, mostly Prot, obviously) and I was wondering;
With a 9% droprate, (with 20x Emblem of Heroism) I was wondering whether it will be more sensible to grind the extra 15 for Crygil's Discarded Plate Panel or whether it's more sensible to do 10 or so PuGs (not being in a raid guild).
Any help? :)

i got the drake on time run too..and did it many times too..

Just picked this up today, replaced my Titansteel Shield Wall immediately. I am both over defense cap and under hit soft cap. The stats are good (albeit not as much avoidance as Crygil's Discarded Plate Panel) and it looks awesome. Crygil's is the only upgrade to it without raiding. Equip a Titanium Plating and go to town. For a Prot pally, having holy shield along with redoubt, not much gets through unblocked and the added Block Value helps with the blocked mitigation.

Well obviously that's a better shield. This shield drops off H CoS whereas that shield drops from H Naxx.

Very solid starting tank shield. Much cheaper to go with this then the BS BOE epic shield :P.

Seems like this shield's design process in pretty much like it, just makes more sense.

I am fortunate enough to own two of these lovely shields. I put +def on one and Titanium plating on the other, so I have a shield for bosses and a shield for trash. Plus, the plating makes PVP prot ShoR slams that much better.

Technically nothing really drops from him. You defeat Mal'Ganis, then he walks over to the stairs and says something like, this is not over! and teleports away, leaving behind the Dark Runed Chest, which contains all the loot.

This shield is good for pvp prot pallys with titansteel bonecrusher it has hit rating a must stam which is obv good str for more dmg and def rating helps with the 2mins cd heal when u die cant remeber the name offhand lol

This is a gorgeous shield. Unfortunately, it's wooden look diesn't go with any of the Paladin sets.

Love the reinforced wooden look though.

Oak and iron guard me well, or else I'm dead and doomed to hell.

I've noticed a lot of tanks that have this shield also have Peacekeeper Blade. That may be a no brainer, but I'm just putting it out there... :)

What I'd like is a "third sword" to be equipped with this shield.
Sadly, none swords in the game have skins similar to the swords attached to the Royal Crest of Lordaeron.

lol one thing i have wanted to do on wow was go back in time when strath and lordaran and stuff where all alive and well lol and then i went into the culling of strath and it was a piece of wow that i had always wanted to see..... then i was i was doing for the alliance and the tank had this shield and i immediately asked where he got it from and he told me CoS my jaw dropeed and now it is my fave dungeon without question.

How about the new HoR normal shield and every single shield in every single raid instance with 213 + iLvl drops. (I think I managed to list most of them)

Definitely not THE endgame shield 'till Cata, the Halls of Reflection shield, the Trial of the Crusader 10/25 shields and the Icecrown Citadel 10 man normal one are fairly easy to obtain nowardays, you don't need a guild run to obtain any of those, as most competent PUGs can easily clear ToC 10/25 normal and the first ICC wing.

Actually Lordaeron is a broad term. The entire continent containing Arathi, Hillsbrad, Alterac, Silverpine, WPL, EPL, Zul'Aman, Quel'Thelas, and the Sunwell is referred to as Lordaeron.

Lordaeron is also the Kingdom of Lordaeron, which encompasses Silverpine, Tirisfal, WPL, EPL, and Hillsbrad. Alterac and Arathor were independent nations - both supplanted/destroyed during the second war.

Lordaeron is also the name of Capital City, the capital of the Kingdom of Lordaeron.

Currently (Patch 4.3) Im trying to build up a good looking set for this shield since I have been in love with this shield once I had it during Wrath and was really sad when I had to change it out for shields with better stats...

So far I have only found a working sword with this Shield combination and still lacking other weapon models to match it (axe and mace) and also the entire armor pieces...

But well here goes, this is the matching sword I found in Magisters' Terrace (Heroic) from Kae'Thas (pick it up if you are already farming for the mount/companion)

Kept mine all these years for some misguided sense of nostalgia. Now, since the 4.3 patch, it's been my mogged shield for my tank paladin. One of the best graphically designed shields in game and easily farmable at max level. Enjoy all!

So I've been wanting to find a nice set to go with this gorgeous shield for ages (currently using Justicar plus Aldori Legacy Defender and a crappy mace as my paladin's tanking mog). I think I found it! (link here) I think Lucky Old Sun doesn't look too bad with it either :). Credit to Cirustar for the shoulder suggestion!

This and Bulwark of Azzinoth are, in my opinion at least, the best transmog shields in the entire game. Bulwark is just cool, but if you're Alliance this thing is a good way to show some faction spirit. Especially if you end up ^&*!@ slapping an orc in the face with it.

If your looking to find a Sword then by far the best 1H Sword to compliment this awesome Shield is the Red Sword of Courage.

Edit: Just managed to get Royal Crest of Lordaeron (16/07/12) to complete the awesome I'll be using my Red Sword of Courage in tandem.
