With engineering being a rarely used profession it seems that engineers Revered with the Consortium are even less common.

Fortunately it seems that the recipe is BoP but the actual charges are not. You can buy a bunch from a friend and use them.

Materials are very check compared to the other versions. All mats are actually available from the engineering vendor in Area 52.

So these can be used on chests inside of instances? Excellent for those rogue-less runs, just go back after everyone left and get yourself the nice 5g, pots, and green. worth the fel iron bolts/casing, and as someone said the mats are available for cheaper than crafting them yourself. at least 3g profit.

General fact: Seafor = C4, a bomb used by terrorists.

Another thing to note, if you spot one in a heroic you don't even have to worry about the group disbanding. You'll be saved to it and can return to snag it for yourself, as long as you beat respwns or the instance resetting.

This Charge will open any outland level lock or below (assuming it can be lock picked).

The Charge does have a chance to fail, but if it does fail it is not consumed in the process, you just simply need to try again.

Sadly a lot of people are overcharging for these because of the low amount of engineers that can make them.

I am sad to confirm that you can't use these charges on Froststeel Lockbox.
Tested on live server with 400 engineering

They are only functional on locks up to 350.

Four of these charges were needed to create a Flying Machine Control, but these aren't needed anymore. This was a good source of gold however, since you have to be revered with The Consortium to get the recipe and those engineers seem to be scarce.

Prolly a reference to C4 an explozive used by Navy Seals to destroy lots of stuff.however Navy Seals don't have to be Revered with Consortium to make them....

Im just curious what this can or cant open? Adamantite chests? Tempest keep doors? Anyone with any experiance using this posting their storys would be appreciated.

<edit> opened a bound adamantite chest in Bot with this today, cant be that bad then...
Also opens the Arc door and the door in SH. Im guessing at this point its the equivilent to 350 lockpicking skill.

so far it has opened locked chests, khorium lockboxes, the door to Arcatraz, and the door to the first boss in Shattered Halls (can skip the oozes). I love it.

well you need to get revered with The Consortium to have your recipe.Im honored now and it looks very hard to get reputation for revered.

The best way I found from getting honored -> revered is to kill the Zaxxis guys south of Area 52 (In The Heap) because of the Zaxxis Insignias they drop.

Every 10 Zaxxis Insignias turned in (to Area 52) is 250 rep, plus they have the same drop rate of Ethereum Prison Keys as the Ethereals by Manaforge Ultris.

The Ethereum Prison Keys can be used to unlock cages in the Ethereum Staging Grounds (just southwest of Manaforge Ultris).

Each prison has either a level 70 mob that drops an Ethereum Prisoner I.D. Tag (and one random level 70 green) which can be turned into Ameer (just north of the Ethereum Staging Grounds) for 250 Consortium rep; or the prison has a prisoner NPC (non-hostile) from various factions (I've gotten Lower City and Cenarion Expediton) who rewards you with 500 faction for where ever they're from (but then you don't get the 250 Consortium rep).

Realize you can have another engineer make this for you w/ your own mats since the result of the craft is not BoP, so if there is no other consortium item for you to buy other than this, you don't have to spend hours and hours of your life grinding away Consortium rep right away.

This appears to open the equivalent of doors and chests that require 350 lockpicking skill.

i.e. there is nothing higher than this, basically the only door you can't blow down is anything that leads to a raid instance. Arcatraz, Shattered Halls and Shadow Labyrinth can all be opened with his.

You still need a rogue for lockboxes though ;)

Best way to Revered; Consortium

The best way to get rep from honored to revered is to farm etherium keys. you can get a few farming insignias in Southern Netherstorm, but get a ton farming just Southeast of the Ethereal Staging grounds. Clear the tight packed mobs of nullifiers and anarchists, and the burly Ethereal Jailors will appear. They drop Keys 100%, each worth 250 rep.
Pick an area and persistently kill every trash mob that pops. This is the best spot to spawn Jailors. i got 13 keys in an 1 1/2 hour. 4 random blues along with the turn-ins, a ton of greens.

Not *too* expensive to make (actually, all those parts can be vendor-bought).

Also, best use I could come up with for them is unlocking that locked chest in the instance you didn't bring a rogue to. Either you could

A) Be nice and confess that you have one, opening the chest and sharing the loot, earning the undying affection of the players who get a cut.

OR

B) Deny you even have a tradeskill, wait until everyone else hearths/ports out, and then blast the chests that were still locked open, and take all the loot to cover the price of the mats. (and a healthy profit!)

Opening instance doors with them'd work, but god help you all if it's the Arcatraz door, and you all wipe and have to use more and more bombs to keep getting in...

Also if you're going for rep to make these and have enchanting (or a friend who does) it's really easy. Buy the prison keys at AH and each of the monsters drops an item, DE the blue ones and vendor the weapons. If you get the keys for a decent price you can get massive rep and almost break even.

These are the items that various C4ium devices can open.
I'd like to add a column for world objects (doors and chests), but I'm unsure what all the Cata changes have affected in this regard.
Comment replies would help me flesh this out.
