The cost of these (even at Neutral) is less than flying to Shattrath or Dalaran from any location in Outland or Northrend.
In short, it's quicker and cheaper to teleport than to fly.

These are pretty cheap, especially above level 60 when you make three times this much doing speak to's...

If you're ever in Orgrimmar and running low (I like to have at least 5 runes at all times), there's a reagent vendor in the front valley, in the back of the valley. There's also one in the Cleft.

As for Alliance peeps, I dunno.

As of the 28th of August (US Realms)/29th of August (EU Realms) teleportation reagents for mages are being removed with the launch of the Mists of Pandaria pre-patch: 5.0.4.
Gone the way of ammunition, Rune of Portals and Rune of Teleportation will no longer be purchasable from vendors, becoming grey items with a sell price of 5 silver and 2 silver 50 copper respectively (roughly ¼ of purchase price).

I would say 9S would be cheap in some instances.

If you are deep in horde territory, it would take about 3 flight paths to head back and nearly cost 9S. Also youll save a bunch of time.

You can also use the hearthstone for warping back or save for another area..

I would buy a few just in case..

Seriously, if you're in Ashenvale, and bound in Ashenvale and you need to get to either run/griff to Auberdine (griff is like 2-3s) or run to Ratchet, from either place you need to take a boat, and then it costs additional money + time to griff to the city (6.5s from Booty Bay to IF, and it tkaes like 5 minutes or 3s from Menethil to Auberdine).

So basically, it's the difference between saving 3s or 10-15 minutes of travel.

And at level 20, 3 silver takes about 3 minutes to make back.

So, I'm going with the runes.

Hearthstones require a long rest period between uses. Having an alternative can really save time if you need to do a lot of travelling.

A rune of teleportation is a reagant. Certain spells for various classes require reagants. Whenever you cast the spell it consumes a single unit of said reagant. Reagants are USUALLY bought from reagant vendors. Light feathers used for the spell featherfall can only be found as drops, runes of teleportation can only be purchased from npcs. (just like you would purchase flux or thread for crafting various items... only merchants sell those).

These cost EXACTLY 10 silver. Less if you have better relationship with certain races (honored = 10% discount from merchants of said race, and so on).

Runes of teleportation can ONLY be used for the mage's spell teleport. Teleport teleports the mage himself (no party members) to one of the race's capitals (portal teleport the mage and others, but use a different reagant). each capital's teleportation is a SEPERATELY SOLD SPELL. It takes a level 20 mage to teleport to the two capitals on the main continent (ie, ironforge and stormwind for allience), and level 30 to learn how to teleport to the capital on the other continent (ie, darnassus for allience).

However, you can teleport from anywhere at anytime once you know how to. Even between continents. (so a level 20 mage could travel to darnassus and teleport to stormwind... i know it doesnt make sense)

Can be found in the Bazaar at 54,69.

Open your map and look for the set of stairs on the left in the Bazaar. There's a weapon rack just outside. Go up the stairs and the Reagent Vendor is in that room. There's also a General Supplies Vendor.

Since this is a newer zone and wasn't listed, I thought I'd add it.

I am a lvl 33 mage and have a teleport to Stormwind. Can I also get teleports for Darnassus and IF as well? What do I need to do in order to do this...just visit the mage trainer in each of those cities?

There is a portal trainer in each capital city. They will teach you teleport and portal spells.

I have a lvl 56 Blood Elf mage. Love the teleport spells. Had a few quest that had me running back and forth between cities. The reward was well worth the cost of the runes plus gained XP and it took very little time with the TPs.
Undercity is the easiest to find the regent vendor. Teleport in, go down the ramp and make a U turn and there she is. I have a high rep with UC so i make sure I stock up on runes anytime i port in. You can stack 10 TP runes in one slot and 10 portal runes in another slot in your bag.

WAy better then FP, Fp take anywhere from 30seconds to 10+ minutes, porting= almost instant, if im questing and killin some mobs i can pick up there trash and make 10s in 1 minute, worth it.

Ok Mages

1.You can have the spell taught to you at each MAJOR city by a "Portal Trainer" it costs 20s or 18s(reputation depends), if you have teleport taught to you, depending on where you have it taught, you can only teleport to that place(at higher levels you can start to tele other people too). Learned at SM(Stormwind) you can only tele to SM, and so on so forth.
2. To cast the spell you have to get the regents for it. It costs 1 "Rune Of Teleportation" which runs at 10s or 9s. You can buy these from a "Regent Vendor" or sometimes other people or from the auctionhouse(but I don't recommend it), it cannot be a drop! You can also stack up to 20 in 1 bag slot.
3.You then can cast your tele spell! Oh and by the way. You should take the time to be able to tele to other places too as this helps out a lot with quests and is time saving. Though if you are close enough and your Character is only around level 25 then just foot it or Haerth it or even fly.

I personally love teleporting. I practically never use boats anymore at all. It saves so much time when traveling to other continents. So if I want to go to Outland, I don't have to run all the way to Blasted Lands and physically go through the Dark Portal.

That's why people pay mages to take portals. Running takes too long. :D

So if this item is vendor sold for 10s why is it selling for so much on the auction house? Is there something i don't understand that would explain why people are paying 1G plus for something that sells at vendor for 10s?

It's expensive at the AH so programs like auctioneer, which track prices over time, will think that it's really valuable. Then, later, someone will go to sell one in an AH "cheap" for 5 gold or so and some newb who doesn't know what it is will buy it, thinking that they can resell it for a significant profit. Of course, everyone else knows that it's worthless, so the person using the auctioneering program is out 5 gold.

Its for mages, at level 20 mages can learn to teleport to the big citys, and at level 40 we can make portals. (soon there, have a level 37 fire mage now)

I am a mage and I went to a portal trainer in Thunder Bluff to get this skill. It said I needed to be lvl 30 but everyone else (including the WoW game guide that came with the game) is saying that mages can teleport at lvl 20. Why can't I learn this skill?

This item is sold by a vendor in Exodar (and possible others, but this is my first Mage and have only found this one). Go to the Mage trainers in the Vault of lights. Behind their area, is a reagent dealer named Musal (45, 64). She sells both this and Rune of Portals you will need later.

Mages teleport. It takes a Reagent. This is the Reagent it requires.

No other classes do it. Warlocks can summon, which isn't the same thing.

It's NOT a profession, it's NOT a skill. Mages do it. That is all.

Edit: Yes, some other classes have their own porting spell, but it's not the same.

Why do they have such an expensive rune to teleport? If you pay for the spell to teleport, you should be able to do it at will. They should make this item NOT be a one-time use. They could even put like a 30-60 minute recharge on it, so its similar to a hearthstone. That would make it so you cant spam it but it isn't so expensive. Teleporting is mage-specific, and adding this expensive cost to every teleport makes it completely not worthwhile.

In most cities, there's a reagent vendor right near the spot where your teleport lands, so it's easy to restock when you arrive. Orgrimmar is an exception and you have to hike quite a distance to find a reagent vendor.

Given the expensive nature of this reagent, don't use it to save on flight costs (example: IF to SW costs 50 copper). It is quite handy as a backup Hearthstone.
