Il y'a environ 10% de chances qu'un trait de l'ombre soit lancé si l'ennemi est sous l'emprise d'un sort sur le temps, cet effet ne peut être activé que toutes les 10 secondes.
L'effet ne bénéficie pas des dégâts aux sorts.
Les dégâts des traits de l'ombre sont augmentés par la malédiction des éléments (d'ombre avant la 2.4.3), ainsi que tout autre effet appliqué augmentant les dégâts des sorts (tissage d'ombre, misère, trait de l'ombre amélioré ...) mais pas par les talents (maîtrise de l'ombre et ténèbres)
Les traits de l'ombre peuvent être critiques, ils sont basés sur le pourcentage de critique du joueur et infligent 150% des dégâts (427 à 712 dégâts)
Le trait d'ombre ne consomme pas de charge du trait de l'ombre amélioré.
La cible de l'attaque n'a pas besoin d'être la cible actuelle du joueur. De plus, il n'est pas nécessaire de se trouver face à la cible, d'être dans sa ligne de vu et ni même d'être en possession de ses propres moyens (le bijou peut se déclencher si le joueur est assommé ou apeuré).
Le bijou se déclenche sur les dégâts sur la durée appliqués par des objets (tels que la Garde lichen pétrifié par exemple)

Étant donné que ce bijou ne se déclenche que sur les dégâts sur la durée, il sera plus profitable aux démonistes affliction (qui possèdent 5 sorts de ce type) et aux prêtres ombre (ils n'en possèdent que 3, mais les dégâts du fouet mental s'appliquent toutes les secondes). Il peut servir, dans une moindre mesure, aux autres classes basées sur les sorts, mais des bijous tels que l'Icône du croissant d'argent sont bien plus intéressant (le timbal n'est utile que si la classe possède de nombreux sorts sur la durée).

The proc effect looks exactly like a Shadowbolt cast by the user. Often, I'll be casting Drain Life or Shadowbolt and a "Shadowbolt" from this trinket will shoot out.

Even as a Destruction Warlock, I saw numerous procs even on short fights.

Wow, this is possible the best trinket for a raiding or pvp doter Balance Druid.
I can see myself using this a great deal especially If I ever get 2 piece of tier 6 balance set.
Combined with the extremely low mana cost of insect swarm, a balance druid could get a great deal of damage boost out of this.

But question for those testing it, since it seems to have a cooldown, does the cooldown only apply against a certain spell's dot tick or against all dot spells globaly(i.e. if you have a row or two of dots, is it going to only proc once every 15 secs for the entire row? or just once every 15 secs for each dot spell in the row?)

i am curious how this would perform for a elemental shaman, i have been farming kara for ages now and still no TLC so this might be the trinket for me. i currently run sextant and quagmirran's eye and been trying for sextant/TLC but this might be able to take its place, maybe a bit less damage but i do have 45%crit raid buffed with a boomkin.. might even out, due to the 44 spell damage on the trinket.

think it's worth going after? cause illhoof isn't a fan on mine.

Remember, even if you have NO periodic damage, this trinket STILL has 44 static spell damage on it. That makes it better than some of the crit-based trinkets for elemental shamans, like X'iri's Gift and the Vengeance of the Illidari.

However, that still doesn't make it better than many pure-damage trinkets like the Sextant of Unstable Currents or the Icon of the Silver Crescent.

It's not completely useless for an elemental shammy, but only if no other casters in the group want it. I'd cry if a shammy took this over a lock, shadow priest or even a fire mage.

One part not mentioned in the theory crafting above is that shadow priests and affliction locks are often maintaining a set of DoTs on multiple targets. This benefits the lock much more then the shadow priest, as maintain multiple sets of DoTs will significantly reduce a shadowpriests Mind Flay Time as less time will be available for one of their lowest priority spells. The other thing to consider in this case is that caster has little control over which target will be effected by the proc.

One other minor concern for a shadow priest is the trinkets interaction with his shadow fiend verse the other available trinkets. A shadowfiend's damage scales with his players +dmg, so on-use +dmg trinkets and other trinkets with higher static +dmg interact more favorably with the shadow fiend. However, the increased shadow dmg will return more mana from VT. Using Isayi's numbers from above, 661.48 dmg ever 22.5 seconds nets (661.48 dmg / 22.5 seconds * .05 mana / dmg) 1.47 mana / second. Shadowfiend, being a 5 minute (300 second) CD, would break even on mana return if the difference caused the shadowfiend to return an extra 441 mana (1.47 * 300).

One question I have (which will not stop me from using this trinket because it still would be one of the best) is how the trinket would handle a situation in a fight like Kalecgos where DoTs are ticking while the player is in another area (after stepping through the portal). A small loss in DPS would be incurred if trinket cannot proc on a mob you cannot target (the time it takes you to get your new DoTs running), but if the trinket attempts to proc, fails because you cannot target the mob, and yet the internal cooldown begins, a more significant loss in damage can occur.

Lucky shadow priest here that just got it on first Heroic run. This thing appears to be pretty damn amazing so far. I am almost positive it is affected by shadow talents/shadow form/spell damage because I was seeing 1k+ crits during a raid. It procs both VE and VT so it makes it even more useful for us spriests. The passive +44 damage is just a bonus to the awesome proc. Indeed, there is an internal cooldown on this badboy, but it is very reasonable, as this thing procs quite often.

The Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 44 is nice for a lot of casters, but I feel this trinket is perfect for a shadowpriest/warlock.
I believe shadowpriest and warlocks should have rolls on it first. I would be truly be upset as a warlock losing this roll to a mage, as the guy stated a few posts down.

I'm just saying don't be greedy and think of who would benefit from this most.

Hi guys, I've always been impressed by the quality of comments here, but I would like to point out some mathematical errors made in the first couple posts. Allow me to rehash a bit.

Affliction DPS calculation:
Assuming 4 dot ticks per 3 seconds, the probability that you'll get at least one proc during a 3 second window is equal to the 1 - the probability that you'll get no procs during that window. The probability that you'll get no procs is 0.9^4 = 0.6561. So the probability that you'll get a proc during that window is 34.39%, not 40%. Small error, but I just wanted to point that out.

The probability that a proc will occur in a time t (with unit seconds) is given by the exponential distribution, with parameter lamda = ~0.11. As was correctly shown above, the average time until a proc is expected is 1/lambda or 8.72 seconds. Add in the estimated 15 second cool-down and we expect 1 proc per 23.7 seconds, roughly.

The calculation of the raid-buffed dps average dps output of the proc was done correctly and yields 594 damage on average (if you consider miss chance of 1%). Also, if you consider talents working on this (shadow form or Succubus Sac or Shadow Mastery) it goes up to 683, 683, and 653 respectively. I'm not sure if these buffs apply, though. Added in for completeness. The subsequent analysis does not include these effects.

In general (following the scheme above), here's what you get (regardless of spec or class), depending on how many DoT ticks you think you can muster per 3 seconds:

1 tick per 3: +13.33 dps
2 ticks per 3: +19.49 dps
3 ticks per 3: +23.01 dps
4 ticks per 3: +25.29 dps
5 ticks per 3: +26.87 dps

As you can see, the number of DoTs you pile on gives diminishing returns from this trinket. So don't expect huge DPS returns when dotting up multiple mobs. That's not to say that the trinket isn't awesome, however. +23 dps from ~3 dot ticks per 3, as an affliction lock could expect under most any circumstance, is a 2.3% increase in damage (assuming you deal ~1000 dps) from the proc alone.

Although it's dependent on gear, a BT/MH raiding warlock with 1400 shadow damage, 1100 fire damage, hit capped with 20% crit can expect +1 spell damage to return about 0.58 dps per point of damage. So this trinket should give an end-game warlock about 25.52 + 23 = 48.52 dps. The Icon of the Silver Crescent gives 39.92 dps, the Hex Shrunken Head gives 51.14 dps. Basically, until you get to Illidan, this is the second best trinket in the game AND it doesn't share a cooldown with the Hex-head or Silver Crescent, so their dps bonus happily stacks.

Balance druids keeping their DoTs up all the time will see 19.9 dps from timbal procs, in addition to the 44 passive spell damage effect (starfire spam with a 15% crit rate in caster form would result in an increase of 25.2 dps by itself for a total of ~39 dps from this trinket) (with a 24% buffed crit rate, 1 spell damage is worth 0.57 dps).

Math behind 19.9 dps:

10% proc rate
Insect swarm ticks every 2 seconds. 10%/2 is a 5% chance to proc per second from IS.
Moon fire ticks every 3 seconds. 10%/3 is a 3.3% chance to proc per second from MF.

That's 8.3% chance to proc per second.
That means that it should proc once within 12 seconds.
There is a 15 second cooldown, so the range of proc times will be 15-27 seconds.
Average proc time will be 15+12/2 = every 21 seconds.

Average damage from the proc is 380.
With a 20% crit rate, that comes to 418 average damage.
418 damage dealt once every 21 seconds is 19.9 dps.

I picked up this trinket to test it for both farming, aoe threat, and single target threat. My conclusion is that it is really subpar for all three.

My testing grounds was the BT shelf, doing pulls of 10-12, over 20, and single target (Netharel). Over 1400 Consecrate/Spore Cloud ticks, the trinket only procced 8 times, giving it less than a 1% proc rate and only accounting for 1.3% of the damage. The ratio of ticks/procs increased as fewer mobs were pulled, obviously because of the internal cooldown. Meaning its a mediocre aoe farming/threat trinket, and you'd be better off getting a pure spell damage trinket or the al'ar one for threat.

Against a single target, the proc was roughly 8% of consecrate ticks, and triggering about every cooldown. This added about 6% to total damage from the proc alone, but considering the damage is shadow based not modified by RF and only averaged 360 damage, you would only see an overall TPS increase of about 50 from this trinket alone, and most of that is coming from the +damage adding to your various threat moves. This does not factor high resist rate against 73 boss mobs, in which case you'd probably be seeing a roughly 10-12% resist rate in raid gear.

Short story: seldom, randomly targetted procs and subpar +dmg make it an unreliable trinket for Prot Paladins.

Does anyone know the range/los/direction constraint of this proc?

What would happen if a warlock went around spam dotting people in a battleground, and it happened to proc on a target who was out of range, behind a wall or on a target in which the warlock was not facing towards?

Would the proc damage still be applied to the target, just without the visual effect or will an error message come up, just as if u were trying to cast a spell "Out of range" or "Out of line of sight", etc.

It really interests me, as i've found that in battlegrounds, i can still get nightfall procs, and be healed from siphon life even if i am on the other side of the map from the target to which the dots were applied.

This trinket would be great for a Boomkin or a Smite Priest for that matter. Both classes/specs maintain 2 DoTs on the target at all times and are heavily crit based.

Combining with is a great trick for these specs because the Shadow Bolt from can critically strike and proc any crit based mechanics such as: surge of light and Lightning Charges for the Capacitor.

Timbal's means the Capacitor charges easier and fires more often (although it has received an internal cooldown on it's charges).

I tend to gear based on a 10 minute boss fight and scale the advantages of gear changes also based on that. Over the coarse of a 10 minute boss fight the additional damage from Timbal's Shadow Bolts will out do the USE of trinkets such as the Icon.

Whether or not to use the Capacitor in combo with Timbals is your call and I'm personally still testing it. Thus far I'm actually finding Quagmirran's Eye or Darkmoon Card: Crusade to be the better combination. Timbals however has proven worth it with 2 DoTs on a burst based spec. It's just up in the air which trinket will best compliment it.

My name is Beefmonger, and I play a Troll Warlock.

I was originally a mage, but upon T5 raiding, specifically Serpentshrine Cavern, things have changed for me.

First, I got the Robe of Hateful Echos, which, honestly, didn't match, but hey. I'll roll with it.

Then along came the Cord of Screaming Terrors, warlock loot if there ever was one. It matched my robe, so naturally I overpowered the little elf 'lock who thought it should have been hers.

And then there was the Illidari Shoulderpads, and that clinched. I was a troll. And I looked like a warlock.

Now, with this handy little focusing crystal, I no longer merely LOOK like a warlock. I truly AM a warlock.

Mage with fire spec can proc it from tallent Ignite (2 ticks every 2 sec), when any fire damage spell crit, or just from regular Fireball, that have DoT for 8 seconds (4 ticks every 2 sec). Just tested.

I'm a little confused on this trinket - picked it up yesterday.

For a raiding lock, how does it rate vs hex head, icon, and haste items like quag's eye?

It says 'periodic' damage, so I'm guessing shadowbolts don't proc it, but things like corruption, immolate, siphon life do?

If so, I don't know how great this would be for a destrolock in Tempest Keep and SSC. Maybe it would best suit a deep affliction lock or even a demonology lock?

I recieved this on my Resto Shaman, due to being the only caster in the group. Tested it thoroughly on flame shock, and it seems to proc quite well. Obviously nothing on a warlock or shadow priest, but the passive 44 spell damage, along with the proc is great.

Flame shock is 1 tick every 3 seconds, so having it proc once every 20-30 seconds whilst the internal CD is up is about where it's at. I'm sure someone else can number crunch better than that.

I'm not the player this was happening to, so I couldn't say for certain that this was what was happening, but on a recent Kara run, one of our locks kept pulling aggro and getting killed from untauntable mobs. Normally he does not have this problem. Just recently he'd run hero MGT and received this trink and I'm wondering if this is the reason. Our tank has never had issues holding aggro and the lock has never had issues with nuking so hard that he accidentally pulls things off the tank. 2.4 having just come out though, we're still having some issues with Omen, but the timing seemed coincidental to me.

In light of all of the posts about the mathematical specs of this trinket's DPS, I'd like to add a few things about it that are a bit less DPS related.
If you dot someone in a BG, die, and rez in the GY... it can still proc and fly across the map to hit them.
If you are fighting a shaman and it procs at the right time, it WILL eat up their grounding totem.
If you are arenaing and someone runs behind a pillar, it can still fly through the pillars regardless of LOS, maybe even resetting the "combat" timer when it hits them that dots would otherwise lose.

If you can't tell, this is one of my favorite trinkets :) So far my highest crits in-raid (ie, including buffs/debuffs, etc) have been around 1150, sometimes hitting a bit above or below. (not BT geared - shadowpriest)

Since I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere yet, the shadowbolt proc effect from this trinket does cause spell pushback like a normal shadowbolt would vs an enemy... kind of nice added bonus that can be quite valuable in PvP instead of a few extra spell damage.

This procs from Starshards, one of the Night Elf Priest racial spells!

For those that dont know, Starshards is an instant cast debuff dot that does arcane dmg; 5 ticks over 15 seconds, no manacost and a 30 second cooldown. Its nice.

It was mentioned earlier that this trinket has a 10 second internal cooldown. This is not the case.
I tested it yesterday and on several occasions saw multiple bolts flying from me to the dotted targets. This test was done with a holy spec, using only Holy Fire, Shadow Word: Pain, and Starshards for procs.

This trinket is simply amazing!

Blizzard's damage should be considered as AM or Flamestrike ground damage, so as long as it won't proc on them it should not proc with Blizzard (and i guess that if it does it procs only on 1 target alone, not every target at once, so it's not much of use also in this case).

Were you dotting multiple targets? In that case, the hidden cooldown probably applies to a given target, not to the trinket itself. In other words, you can get the trinket to proc multiple times within the 10 seconds on different targets, but it cannot proc more than once on any given target in the 10 second cooldown.

This is just speculation; I don't know this for certain.

Okay, I recently got this trinket on my lock (about a week ago), and to confirm some previous posts, it procs of dots, yet does NOT interrupt your currently casting move! Its pretty cool, I am destro, but have no plus shadow/fire, so I switch cuz of mages once in a while. While I was casting incinerate (immolate was on Mag), I saw a little shadow bolt come out, then my incinerate hit, so when they both crit it was like 4.4k and 600 damage at once!

So while its not an uber amount of dps, it still is a great boost spell damage wise, and if you are affliction, its almost like adding another weak dot, since having 3+ dots on a mob will make this thing proc like guaranteed! Great trinket, locks might as well grab it while getting rep and doing quests.

Also, this can help most casters as well, since at the very least is a bonus 44 damage, and I'm sure it can proc off flame shock, imp. fireball, moonfire, and other assorted dots.

The shadow bolt from this trinket might consume one improved shadow bolt debuff. If it does. I would say this is horrible trinket for 25 man instance.

Destruction lock in raid already had hard time to keep ISB debuff. Spriest's spell consume most of them. Now if more people use this trinket in raid. Raid dps might slightly go down. Imagine those trinket proc consume ISB debuff. Which lock and Spriest's main spell didn't effect much from ISB. That's big lose.

Guild that progress in BT/HJ or SW. Warlock non crit SB is around 3.5k~4k. Spriest's mind blast or shadow word death is around 2~2.5k. Compare to trinket effect 500~1.2k damage. Yes if you use that trinket you will effect by ISB. And your own DPS will increase a bit. But let's calculate whole run. see how many ISB got consume by trinket, and replace by lock's SB, spriest's mind blast or shadow word death. Raid should do more damage when people use pure spell damage increase trinket.

An interesting thing for warriors and paladins:
Its effect can be occurred by dots of Petrified Lichen Guard (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=25828)

I have used a warrior to test it in Karabor. I pulled about 20 mobs to farm them. The shadow bolt had fired to mobs and increased my dps about 3%.

But it is strange that the proc very low. In record of recount, the dot has ticked 6xx times, the shadow bolt only occured 10 times.

As a threat trinket for a Prot Pally:

44 dmg = about 26.4 TPS in full threat rotation with Seal of Righteousness.
Proc: 380 dmg per minimum of 15 seconds versus single targets; assume it procs on a single target between 15-30 seconds. Against N targets, it could be estimated to proc more often; every (15->15+15/n) seconds
30 second proc time=13.3 TPS
15 second proc time=26.6 TPS

This will proc off the firebombs you drop on the npcs in Halaa. It's kinda funny to watch shadowbolts fly from you and travel the 300 yards to your target while you're flying on the mount.

This might be hard to believe, but I was messing around on Netherspite, and cast a Curse of Doom with about 30 ticks of the blue beam. This nifty trinket went off at exactly the right moment, and apparently caused over 20k damage, making a total of over 50k damage to Netherspite in less than a second. I am extremely glad the red beam was up when it went off.

Won this on my warrior on a greed roll (all the casters had it already, including our enchanter) and I can confirm that it does in fact work with Rend. Kinda silly, but it seems to proc off EVERY type of periodic effect, regardless of whether or not it deals magical damage. It more than likely works on Deep Wounds as well, although I am currently prot and unable to confirm that.

Moonkin math time. Asssuming 5 procs per 6 seconds due to IS ticking every 2 instead of 3.

1) Proc delay = 1/ (.83*0.1) + 15 = 27.04 sec per proc

2.) Average Damage = 380 * 1.1 * 1.05 * 1.13 * (1+0.3*0.5)* (1+0.2*0.5) = 627.39 * .99 = 621.12

3.) DPS = 621.12 / 27.04 = 22.97 DPS

4.) Moonkin damage equivalent 1 dmg = .57 DPS
22.97/0.57 + 44 = 84.29 damage.

Note to spreists: Honestly, it's really not that amazing.

My guildie's toon has this and it procs fairly often, but the point remains it's not as amazing as you'd think it would be. We messed around a little and found that it's actually to more benefit to just grab the Icon and Shrunken Head rather than grind Heroic Magister's praying that you get this to drop (let alone kill the third boss...) because as amazing as the proc might seem to be, it's better (as always) to just stack raw +dmg.

If you're REALLY hurting to get this: do as you will, but it's going to be a lot more profitable to just grab some badges and run ZA in the end...

This proc does work with Vimpiric Embrace
Tested it last night. My first test was none crit. The Bolt (the proc) hitted for 400 and i got healed for 100 by vimpiric embrace.

My other test was with crit. I crited ~1100 (dont really remember) and it healed for ~275. so it helps with something.

I've used this trinket extensively for PvE since two days after it was available in Live.

For a Shadowpriest, the Shadow Bolts average ~2.3% of your total DPS during a boss fight (based on many reports and experiences). With raid debuffs, the Shadow Bolts routinely crit for over 1000, often around 1058.

Example:

Akil'zon, the Eagle Boss:

Active presence : 3'03'' (99 % of raid)
Dmg. Out to foes : 213,498 (16 %)
DPS : 1166
...
Shadow Bolt (Shadow):
Total: 4,146 (2% of Dmg out to foes)
Hits: 6
Average: 541
Max: 857

DPS from Shadow Bolt procs during 3 minute fight: 22 DPS

That is generally indicative of what I've seen with this trinket throughout most fights.

Forget all the maths and mumbo jumbo that not everyone will be able to understand.

If you are a fire mage, affi lock or shadowpriest, this is the bee's knees of a trinket.

Procs pretty much soon as the cooldown comes back round (15 secs) on my Affi warlock and although the 3rd boss of MT heroic can have a nasty setup, its a damn site easier than trying for Illidan, Hex Lord or Eye of Magtheridon (if you don't farm there with your guild).

It's there for the taking, just be prepared to put in the time. 27 runs for me...... Don't ask. Please just... don't ask lol.

Funny fact: this trinket procs on Bleeds too. Only tested as a Druid, with Lacerate (Bear), and Pounce/Rip/Rake (Cat). Didn't buff Thorns, to be sure, and effect was the same. I assume it would work on other bleeds, and even poisons.

I was wondering if anyone has tested this with Deathknights yet. They have 2 diseases, UB, and D&D which all do periodic damage. And all of them do fairly small amounts of damage, so this trinket would boost that a TON if it worked.

I'm disappointed at the lack of commentary from those that used this while leveling in WotLK. I haven't done any testing, but I think this may have a hidden "works only on mobs up to level 70" or some such because I rarely notice it proccing anymore. I was also wondering if Mind Sear can proc it...

On a side note, is there another site similar to alakhazam, thottbot, & wowhead that is gaining popularity? It seems like activity here has dropped off a lot lately. Kinda reminds me of when wowhead shifted to being the best source for general WoW info, and I was left scratching my head wondering why thottbot had started to suck/become inactive.

Unholy DK tank here, I was using the trink that gives 90 parry rating after falling below 20% health for quite some time, and on a boredom 3 man through heroic MGT I got Timbal's Focusing Crystal from a greed roll, I haven't done any math on this yet, but I noticed between 2 daily runs in heroic COS that before equipping the trinket I averaged 1685~ dps though the duration of a timed run in the instance, and on the 2nd daily run with the trinket equipped i did a solid 2022 dps in yet another timed run. A few factors i have to look at are party setup what classes were giving me what buffs, etc... but a 337 dps difference. is that ballpark to your estimated damage increase?

bottom line: Romulo's Poison Vial adds more overall damage from more frequent procs despite hitting for a smaller amount

both are only useful in long fights or fights with multiple opponents. For short fights or single target opponent go with SP or AP increasing trinket for increasing your DPS

a warlock can have 5 dots on a target meaning that with the 10% proc rate and 15 sec hidden CD + spell dmg, this can easily add another 40 dps to a lock. this trinket is obviously designed with locks in mind.
i can understand a spreist taking it but if theres a warlock in the group, you let the lock have it or suffer eternity in hell.

honestly once you get out of gruuls and Mag's a warlock shouldn't be in the affliction tree, this trinket will last a shadow priest a lot longer than it will last a warlock, averagely locks should be wearing Icon of the Silver Crescent and Scyer's Bloodgem if not hit capped, if hit capped the lock should be equipping something with decent +spell damage, which makes this trinket STILL usable at that point, but by no means will it give the buff to the locks DPS as it will a shadow priests...

Those of you who say this isn't a spriest trinket are mistaken. Actually it's one of the best spriest trinkets in the game. The damage spells a spriest uses are as follows:

VT: Periodic Damage
SW:P: Periodic Damage
Mind Blast: Not Periodic
Mind Flay: Periodic Damage
Depending on the fight, maybe SW:D as well. I happen to have a NE priest, so Starshards gets in the rotation too, and it's periodic damage as well.

Of course, it IS a good lock trinket too, (assuming they're not destro and just sit there spamming shadow bolt), but pretty much any shadow priest that doesn't already have it is going to roll "Need".

I got it, 3rd boss in heroic MT. He drops one trinket of some kind every kill.

I tried it in a MH/BT raid got some good statistics:

I got 200 procs on 5000 ticks of MF,SWP,VT and starshards. So either it has a cooldown or the real rate is 4%.

I can confirm it does proc on mind flay too. The average damage was 522 and max 833. 728/1064 for crits so yes it can crit and it seems to be affected by SW, misery, shadowform and stuff.

It is shadow damage, named as shadow bolt. The damage does return health and mana from VE/VT too!

My total damage from shadowbolt was 3%. That's just imba!

This is THE shadowpriest trinket. Other classes don't benefit as much as you dont get the boost to damage from shadowform, but still I think Affliction locks will love it too.

Would be interesting to know if it procs some warlock stuff from crits.

the Trinket has an internal cooldown, and the proc % only affects to a single target (if you have multiple dots up at once, it will hit only one target when it procs, and then it will proc again once the cooldown is up, so no AOE shadow bolts, get that out of your head)

Spriest benefit the most, because the shadow bolts are affected by VE, VT and shadow weaving/missery. it can also crit. i hope this clears up everyones questions.

I'm a aflilock (41/0/20) with 4 T4 pieces (1 more dot for corruption & immolate) currently starting on SSC & TK but still farming gruul, mag & kara (bages, badges, badges)

I always put (not in this order) UA, C, SL, CoA & Immo (even DL if I need my health back) on everything that may live for about 1min then spam ISB until renew, and dudes this trinket just rocks

Some warnings:
- watch for threat meters or you will become a target dummy
- beware of your initial rotation and the tank pulling playstyle, an early proc may grab aggro from the tank.
- beware of dotting every tanked mob, if they charge the raid, stun or fear the tank; you are No1 candidate to gain additional reputation with The Floor (Since Soulshatter's CD is 5min, you won't be able to use it on every pull)

I nearly made my raid wipe at Mag aggroing my channeler (the last of the round) from feral tank with the first CoA dot! (now I use CoT there to help the healer save mana and safer tanking)

Now I'm No1 damage dealer in our raid charts from Attumen to The Lurker & LootReaver

BTW I really love the ShadowBolt Machine Gun: SB + Trinket + Trance of Shadows (+ soulshatter in case of crit and wanna live longer)

I have this as a shadowpriest... its badass... every spriest should have it.

It procs all the time, usually for 400-500 damage. I dont know if it can crit or not.

If a rogue is running from you far off and it procs, it will chase them down even if they use CloS and vanish... it will then take them out of stealth when it eventually hits (it moves like a shadowbolt... but seems to have unlimited range)

The following spells have been proven to proc it from use:

-Vampiric Touch
-Shadow Word: Pain
-Mind Flay
-Shadow Fiend (I am not kidding, shadowfiend hits set this off)

Likewise, have had a difficult time getting the trinket. However, mine has not been for lack of drops. It first dropped on my Aff-Lock's 4th run with fellow guildies. I rolled against a mage named Neving on Arygos. Why did they let a mage roll? He' a muckity-muck in the guild and "it could proc for a mage too." Fine, it could (I left my guild of over half my WoW carreer, however). From then on, I ask before every run, "who will be rolling on the trinket." The Holy priest wanted it for her "backup set." Boomkin's, Druid's and Rogues's all want it, it's a good trinket, with more spell damage than most and that's fine, as long as I know up-front.

The absolute worst though, was last night. I pug'd with four members of the guild "Elite Few," (Zeratune, Valania, Foxinsurance the Lock and don't remember the 4th). When I asked, we agreed that we Lock's would both roll on Timbal's. They were on voice (I have vent and skype, but wasn't invited). After clearing our way to the third boss, where Timbal's drops, they booted me, so Foxinsurance could ninja the trinket. It took several hours and I didn't even get to roll. It was the sleaziest, ninja theft I've ever seen. I hope Elite-Few isn't so big that they don't watch out for low-life's like these in their guild.

just for fun i dotted an enemy running off towards Drek in AV. I got on my mount and a shadow bolt fired backwards out the mount's butt at the guy. a teammate next to me was like "WTF WAS THAT!"

We have shadow word pain, vampiric touch, mind flay, devouring plague.

We have 40% more shadow damage from are talents. When this procs it works for vampiric embrace and vampiric touch. So it actually helps the whole group. Plus shadow word pain is a long ticking dot :P.

Simply because there not going to benefit from it, and it was made for shadow damage!

If you click on the description of the dot proc, it will bring up the description of the actual spell cast by the trinket. There, it will tell you the chance is 10 meaning it has a 10% chance of proccing.

I got this yesterday on my Warlock. The first time it proc-ed I didn't know what the heck it was. All of a sudden I shot what appeared to be a shadow bolt at a mob and thought "what the heck was that". It took a few more times before I finally figured out what was causing it. I should have read this thread before equipping the trinket. This dropped on my first run on Heroic along with the Jaded Crystal Dagger.

While this trinket does proc from Consecrate, it has an internal cooldown, preventing it from being awesome for Paladins.

To confirm, I pulled 90ish mobs in Strat at once with it equipped, cast consecrate 6 times to burn the mobs & recorded 1803 individual ticks. The trinket fired 3 times.

Next pull was a single mob, 9 rank 1 consecrates and again 3 trinket procs.

Conclusion is that its alright as a passive spell power trinket but due to the internal cooldown its better to use an Icon or Smoking Pipe for the on use effect & virtually the same passive +spell.
