Hmm... How does everyone feel about this talent? I find it strange this it is a pre-requisite to the new
Surge of Light
. We keep finding talents that are hinting at smite being used quite frequently, but as a healer that seems a bit strange. Who would want/have time to cast 3 Smites just to gain 10% additional haste? I'm sure there are other raid buffs that will provide this for us come Cataclysm.

This talent is an interesting work in progress. The Inner Focus mechanic could use work, but the Penance mechanic has its uses. Do not forget that Evangelism and Archangel are becoming an integral component to the Discipline tree (and Holy as well once Cata affords Holy Priests five more talent points). For those that have the points for and the interest in Atonement, that is another thing to note in relation to this talent.
Alright. Let's say you've cast Penance. Glyphed its cd is now down to 10 seconds; unglyphed it'd be 12. The cd begins the moment you start casting, so you'll likely be free to take another action once Penance's cooldown is somewhere between 8-11 seconds depending on if it was cast during borrowed time and if it is glyphed. The mana return mechanics that Cata seems to be implementing for priests are suggesting they want priests to be proactive in mana management, not spamspamspamspamcooldown like the olden days. In this regard, they are encouraging us to embrace smite and giving us talents that reward us for doing so. So, the fight has been going on for awhile and you see yourself at 80% mana. Penance just cast? Good. Group looking good on health? Good. What to do? Get a couple smites in and get an early jump start on your evangelism. You don't have to go all the way to 5 stacks, but starting it up now means less work later. So, you've got a few evangelism stacks and you've possibly got a couple people healed in the process. Your penance is off cooldown even sooner than you anticipated, ready to go once again for whomever you see fit. Penance thrown out again. No one gasping for dear life? Good. A few more smites ought to do the trick. Evangelism is at 5 stacks--pop Archangel, smile. You're at full mana again and now your healing is increased by 15% for the next 15 seconds or so. Which means that penance that just came off cooldown again is 15% stronger should you feel the urge to use it.
And before someone says something about "omghitcapnub," I don't see any major glyph combinations that can't afford the Divine Accuracy glyph. Which is sexy.
As for the Inner Focus mechanic, I'm beginning to understand how our three heals are supposed to work. Flash Heal--middle-strength heal with a fast cast and about the same mana cost of Greater Heal. Preferred during high incoming damage phases, not optimal for spam healing when people aren't taking much damage. Heal--mana efficient light heal. Longer cast time will turn a few people off at first, but the cast time benefits regen and the pacing seems just right for steady but non-intense incoming damage. Greater Heal. About 1.5x stronger than flash heal, roughly same mana cost, about 66% more cast time than Flash Heal. Better for predictably slow but heavy spikes--basically the stronger alternative to heal and the more mana efficient alternative to flash heal. With that in mind, it probably wouldn't be too uncommon to throw out maybe one or two of these when Inner Focus is on cooldown. Two Greater Heals are about 5 second reductions each on Inner Focus's cooldown. 5 casts are 25 seconds, none of this factoring in that Greater Heal is taking about 2 seconds to cast for most priests with moderate haste and 3/3 Divine Fury these days. So, for every time you have to cast GH, you get 2.5x that time off of your Inner Focus cooldown. And keep in mind that IF benefits Flash/Greater/Heal and Prayer of Healing, meaning you aren't necessarily using this for the sole purpose of spamming Greater Heal.
But yeah, this talent seems to be more for the Smite/Penance mechanic than the Inner Focus/Greater Heal mechanic, at least the way it works in practical situations at the moment.

I have found the use of this, I was thinking this talent useless before, but now I know it was wrong.
first part of this talent is actually for the smites, Evangelism,Archangel Atonement and Train of Thought are all we need to maximize the Smite. They make the Smite to be a healing spell, as efficient and effective as Heal, the disc priests who have this talent build can actually put the Heal in the "P" now.
Evangelism also decreases the Penance's mana cost, which is very good for tank healing.
like shield-penance-smite-smite-smite-penance-smite-smite-smite......This talent decrease about 1.5s CD of penance with this rotation(). the priest casts Penance more frequently and less mana cost.This rotation is very good in the normal trash fight and an easy boss fight.
when you use this rotation, if you want Penance to heal but not do dps, i introduce you a macro, which I'm still using.

so you can keep the target on tank(or the other friendly targets), and smite when ever you want.you will smite your target's target, and heal your target or who every has lowest health around there.
after five stacks of Evangelism, your simte will cost you 2161 mana only(lvl85), 2 sec casting time when Heal costs you 1853 mana but 2.5 sec casting time. and the Atonement heals similar amount as the Heal spell does, not mention the damage you dealt.
In a hard boss fight, disc priest may use Greater Heal many times,maybe most of the time. so this will be the secend part of this talent.it decrease 5 sec each time when disc priest cast Greater heal, that means every 5 casts of GH in a raw, priest will get a free GH, it's about 20% mana off(if you keep GHing),which is very nice.
after all , this talent is a kind of "mana saving" talent, and a single-targeted healer talent.also it's a smite priest talent.

the smite/penance part seems lackluster to me, if you are smiting chances are there's low damage flying around and you dont really need the penance cooldown reduction
the GH part looks like a good mana talent but probably not as strong as our others (Mental Agility, Rapture, Power Infusion) and a lot more situational then the others (100% effective for tank healing, much less for raid healing)
i'd say take this talent for non A/A specs and skip for the smite priests

I do not get this calculation. After 5 casts of GH you reduced the cd of IF by 25 seconds out of 45 seconds, and the rest of the time (20 seconds) you spent casting those GHs (+ few spells). Meaning the 6th GH is for free. So by using this talent and IF together, GH costs 20% less,? Well more like 17%.
And then you could just use IF without this talent. If you cast the same amount of GH in 45 seconds you would have like 11 GH in 45 seconds, and the 12th would be for free, being like 8% reduction in cost, that you have with zero points in this talent.
So effectively you get 9% cost reduction, for only 1 spell, by investing 2 talentpoints. Ok, plus some more thoughput.
