I'd really like to see the math behind this.
Your forfeiting a possible depleted rune being fully regenerated. But which rune will that be? The one with only 1 second left or the one with 7 seconds left?
Also, thats only one rune. Runic corrupion applies too all currently regenating runes (Blood, Frost, and Unholy). But unless I figure out how Runic Empowerment decides which rune is refreshed, then I can't pull out the math.
But yeah, 6 less Runic Power for your Death Coil still makes this worth getting.

This talent is crazy-awesome, it really helps define the identity of an Unholy DK.
With only a moderate amount of haste and Runic Corruption proccing, your runes will refresh almost instantly. ALL OF THEM. Picture this: you use Festering Strike to change all of your Frosts/Bloods to Death runes, then use the RP generated to toss out a few Death Coils (maybe even an extra with a Sudden Doom

proc?), then this procs and all the runes you just used start coming off cooldown. That means you can start using all of those Death runes for Scourge Strikes, which generates more RP, which means more Death Coils, which means Runic Corruption procs more often, which means you're almost never starved for runes, which means more RP generated by attacks, which means more Death Coils, which means...
See where this is going? When this scenario came up in my tests, I was able to pump out an almost constant stream of Death Coils and Scourge Strikes, interrupted only by Festering Strike to extend disease duration and convert Frost/Blood runes, refreshing my diseases entirely, and activating Dark Transformation

You should try to keep a near 100% uptime on this short buff to maximize DPS. That means don't shoot Death Coils back to back because you'll overwrite it.
Use a tracking addon to maximize uptime, such as CLC DK or NeedToKnow. These help you track the duration of any buff and debuff.
The following is a simple example of how it should be done:
Death Coil > No proc? > Death Coil > RC proc'd? > No Death Coil for 3 sec > Death Coil > RC proc'd? > No Death Coil for 3 sec > Death Coil > No proc? > Death Coil

Forget
everything I've said above. With the upcoming patch (4.0.6) Runic Corruption buff will now stack. That means you can now shoot Death Coils back to back without having to worry about it overwriting. Why? Because now everytime Runic Corruption procs, it will add 3 seconds to your current RC buff. I'm leaving what I said above for posterity! :P

As of MoP, most of this comment is irrelevant. This talent seems nomerically inferior to Runic Empowerment, but more steady and suitable for rotations

With this talent, it generates 30% of 3 runes (good DK should have a rune of each type off) over 3 seconds... That is
90% of 1 rune
. You can be unlucky and get this procced during firs proc if you DC 2 times in a row, but thi is avoidable (by not casting them in a row, obviously), so I won´t bother
BUT this talent also reduces cost of DC, more DCs = more REs = more runes = EVEN MORE DCs = EVEN MORE REs ........
This allows you to use
15% more DCs
. It´s 15% more RE procs. It total, you´ll have
3.5% more runes trought RE
.
3.5% more RE procs means 0.875% more DCs, that is 0.39375% more REs, that is 0.3% more DCs,... (this should lead to infinite decimal expasion)
In short: This talent IS worth taking. In addition to the maths (who read it anyway? :P), this is more practical because it is friendlier to rotations. If you didin´t read the
highlighted
numbers, this gives you about 3.5% more rune-costing abilites and 15.875% more Death Coils

note: Even though this talent is good, rank 1 just sucks. It´s not even better than nothing, because it, in fact, cripples you. If you plan to take this talent, you shoul spare 1 poit and take rank 2 immadetelly.

Well, it replaces the ability to re-activate a rune and might be worded something like this;
When you use your Death Coil, Frost Strike, or Rune Strike ability, you have a 45% chance to increase your rune regeneration rate by 100% for 3 sec.

which means fights that you can soak a lot of runic power through Improved AMS give you the opportunity to stack up a ton of quick rune cycles, as opposed to holding on to deathcoils and possibly wasting gained RP. This mechanic can keep you chugging during fights similar to Grand Vizier Ertan (vortex pinnacle) where he deals magic damage and slows down your attack speed and other cooldowns.

in mists i believe this talent will be significantly better than the other two choices.
blood tap seems to be a complicated way to execute the process of rune regeneration, may be better for pvp because of the ability to be bursty.
runic empowerment, the standard for most deathknights, is mathmatically weaker because of the randomness of it, depleting a rune you may or may not want.
runic corruption runs much smoother than the other two streamlining the process and seamlessly speeding up your rotation rather than giving you one random one that may or may not work into your rotation.
this is all of course my interpretation, and may be subject to brain failure and or bias.

Runic Corruption's duration is shortened proportionately by haste effects (bloodlust, haste rating, etc). This makes all 3 scale evenly with haste. Assuming it activates and you receive the full benefit of the regeneration boost, it will regenerate 30% of 3 runes. This will yield an average of 40.5% of a rune per

Death Knights can macro Blood Tap into their spec's runic power ability. This is a tiny performance loss, but that assumes perfect execution so using the macro makes sense for most players. Replace

It's very obvious that

* Without the talent, 40 RP is equivalent to exactly 1 Death Coil.
* At rank 1, 40 RP is already 3/37 = 8.1% on the way towards a second Death Coil.
* At rank 2, 40 RP is already 6/34 = 17.6% on the way towards a second Death Coil.
But it's less obvious how the secondary effect stacks up mathematically against
符文强化
, which it modifies.
Untalented, a fully depleted Rune will take 10s to activate. So Runic Empowerment saves 10s.
Runic Corruption replaces that, and each of up to 3 partially depleted Runes will briefly regenerate at an accelerated rate before returning to the normal rate.
Now there is something to be discussed about possibility of wasted procs/regen time.
* If both Runes of any type are already active when (Corrupted) Empowerment procs, some regeneration benefit is lost. But you can reduce waste by immediately consuming a Rune after the proc.
* If you don't have any fully depleted Runes when (Normal) Empowerment procs, the potential 10s benefit is
entirely
wasted.
But since you can
theoretically
manage/delay Death Coils until procs wouldn't be wasteful, this analysis will assume full benefit at all times.
Let's start with the baseline of 0 Haste (which would otherwise speed up Rune activation):
Untalented, as mentioned earlier saves a full 10s of regen time.
Runic Corruption regenerates faster for 3s. With a base regen rate of 1.
* Rank 1 regenerates 50% faster. I.e. At 1.5/s for 3s and an additional 1/s until activated. So those 3 seconds save 0.5*3 seconds per Rune. Or up to 4.5s
* Rank 2 regenerates 100% faster. Which save 1*3 seconds per Rune. Or up to 9s.
At first glance this looks quite bad for Runic Corruption.
But
reminder
: Haste affects Rune regeneration rate! So we need to factor that into our calculations.
Also note that Runic Empowerment/Corruption procs changes are applied after (i.e. compounded with) other Haste benefits.

Rank 2 actually surpasses untalented with as little as 5.5% haste. (And

Unfortunately Rank 1 requires much more haste to surpass the normal Runic Empowerment.
Making this one of those talents where you really
don't
want to sacrifice max ranks to spend points elsewhere.
