This ability seems to work in unison with
Demonic Circle: Summon
, to enable you to instantly return to the point where you enscribed your Demonic Circle. And, at only 100 mana to teleport to your Circle, this is very cheap. I can see this being quite useful in PvP, to instantly return yourself to the flag room or a capture node.
However, judging by the name of the spell, your summoned demon may have to be given up to do so. Only time will tell whether this is true or not.

Is there a range limit on this spell? Or could you, for example, place a circle, hearthstone and then teleport back to your circle?
Edit: Ah. Just noticed "40 yd range". Hmm, not very far. Certainly not enough to return to the flag room at SlippyHippy suggested above. Might be good for running away from people though (Run one direction, they follow, teleport back and run the other direction)

Besides from running away, and PvP objectif, this spell will be also quite useful in fight against melee class. Just imagine, fighting a rogue, a warrior or those nasty enhance shammy, and being able to teleport 40 yards away from them. Enough time to cast 2 shadowbolt and maybe haunt ;)
In PvE, it could be use too help with some boss fight with special abilities ;)
A great new spell to discover all in all

I wonder if the teleport will do any sort of checks? Can I open a locked door, make a circle, walk through the door, close it and teleport?

I can imagine this to be extraordinarily useful in arena matches, mostly Blades Edge and, possibly, the new Lich King arenas. Set up a Demonic Circle on the above platform, take the battle down to the ground and teleport. Gives you enough time to get lay out some good damage to melee fighters during that period.

Cant wait! think WSG. u can put this in a house, go outside and DoT everybody then teleport away! i mean noone will notice that your gone! and if they do they wont know where you are!
this also makes kiting and stuff as a lock much easier, arena easier, BGs easier:D perfect!

I'm assuming it's more of a.. lay the circle go fight and teleport to it when a spell is being cast to break LoS, to get out after laying dots.. or..
You know. ...rogues.
Might get to use it while CCd, which is where I see that being the true worth.

Anywho, I'd love to use this spell to say.. defend in WSG, i normaly jump onto the roof, which gives me a few free dots without pesky rogues and warriors jumping on me, so now i could theoreticaly, ( assumeing it's not affected by LOS) set this baby on the roof, jump down to go whack that stupid alliance FC return the flag, and jump back up there
Or again if it's not affected by LOS chuck it on the roof of the oposeing team. jump down, grab the flag, aoe fear, trinket out of that frost trap that is gona be there. run down the tun, then port up, sure you'll lose the flag but then you can just jump back down, grab it, and run ramp side :P

This seems quite good for now, maybe add a casting time to make
it seem less OP tho. I am almost sure one class or another will get
some sort of counter move, like rogues shadowstep to counter move
a mages blink.
Anyway, this will be most helpfull in many situations,
like grinding in a mob crowded area and need to
escape fast without getting hit too much...
My guess is this will probably change in the nearest future,
one way or another.
评论来自
hppa
Assuming it is affected by LoS, it could still be used to get rid of melee's for a few seconds in arenas, by jumping down the upper platform, and porting right before you leave it's LoS.
Having fooled the melee's your jumping down, they will most likely follow you (if you're their target), so they'll jump down just to notice that you're back up there.
(And hopefully, they haven't got their finger at Shadowstep or Intercept ;))

number 2= if above is wrong then we may still have inscription to increase range,
not 2 mention all the possibilities: wsg, go 2 enemy roof place circle, jump down get flag, teleport back up and run away... ab defenders: place behind bs, sb inc enemy, when he gets close teleport sb or incinerate or soulfire him... tadaaaa

Another thing that might warrent consideration are the class Glyphs from the Inscriptions profession. Judging from how they are looking now, there may be a glyph that increases the range on this, reduces mana cost, makes the circle's cast instant, etc.

I see 2 uses for this, lay it by the sprint box in WSG and run up, grab the flag, and immediatly port back to sprint out of there, or if the thing doesn't disapear when your more than 40 yards away, you can grab the flag, and half way through the tunnel in WSG teleport directly back...
Hmm, can you lay down multiples? You might be able to place checkpoints and just port from place to place, Blizz could do it, just make the circles destroyable.

It's obviously for kiting. Hopefully you can weasel your way around a melee dps in pvp and survive, and maybe we should have it work while in the middle of a stun from an annoying rogue. It's just to keep you out of range of melee attacks and getting out of line-of-sight.

I'm hoping that this is like pally bubble where it makes you drop the flag in WSG as soon as you cast it ... if not, it is SO AWSOME!
Just like Grindalwald said, drop a circle on the flag room roof. Everyone comes up to kill you and get the flag ... so you jump down to ground level. Your enemies chase you down ... *POOF* ... back to the roof. And with only 30 second cooldown, by the time they get to the roof again, you can repeat the cycle all over again.

I don´t get why people complain about that this spell has to be placed. Or why they say that it´s just a crappy blink. Yes it has the downside that you have to place it before (oh no! we have to stand still for 0.5 seconds) and is visible to other players. But it also have twice the range of blink and don´t require LoS. I´d actually prefer this before blink.

This ability does not require the circle to be in line of sight. It works in any direction, which means you can also place it on a different vertical level - for example you could teleport from the arena floor in BEM arena to the bridge.
It does NOT break any movement impairing effects or the like.
No, it is not an extra hearthstone! It has a
40 yard
range. Read the tooltip for gods sake.
The circle stays for the entire 6 minute duration, allowing you to teleport back to it every 30 seconds.
If you place a new one, the first one will disappear.
The circle cannot removed by anyone but the warlock. Not even the priest's Mass Dispel (as rumored)
A smart hunter will trap it. Be careful.

Guild just got our first Malygos clear tonight, and I found an interesting use for the Demonic Circle. It will pull you out of the vortex without causing any damage. Just place the circle near the summoning orb in the middle of the room and you should be fine. Sometimes the vortex will take you out of the 40 yard range, but if you stick to the middle of the platform you should be ok. Your healers will love you for not having to spam heal you during the vortex, and you can DPS while the other suckers are dangling in midair. (Also, I did notice that my imp wasn't killed when I did this either, as I had him casting for the extra bit of damage).

So I wanted to find a practical purpose for this. (still upset that the rumored 40 yard blink is actually a backwards blink, but just gotta get used to it). For the Alliance, if you place the circle on the corner outside the AH in SW. You can use it near mailbox and Auctioneers.
FYI, I was doing enchants for a hunter tonight, ran up next to him, placed circle, ran away, and when he chased me, I teleported to the circled, funny stuff.

This can be a difficult spell to use, from a purely pvp perspective.
As it is, the .5 second cast time and global cooldown trigger make it unwieldy to place the portal while engaged in a fight, although it is fast and cheap enough that it is still conceivable to do so. I have simply not often come across a situation where I feel I should do so versus any of the other spells I could be casting at the time.
This mainly relegates the spell to premeditated defensive uses. And if you get into the habit of remembering to use it often (harder than it sounds, actually. As an old school warlock I constantly forget it.) This can actually be a very potent ability.
While defending any node in Arathi Basin or Eye of the Storm you can use this to easily port yourself out of the line of sight of any incoming assailants. It won't cause you to win against overwhelming odds, but it will give you the time to throw a few extra fears, shadowfuries, whatever you want into the fray, and hold the node for that much longer.
You can also do some really amazing things with this spell in warsong gulch, thanks to the more vertical level design.
As Horde, place the portal right where you respawn, right at the spirit that resurrects you. If you manage to run the flag, you can teleport up that sheer cliff, and no one can follow. Just watch out for death grip.
If you're holding the flag and waiting for your own to be returned, you can put a circle on the ledge of the very top floor of your base, then hide within the little walled room on the ground floor. If the enemy players begin to overwhelm you, instantly jump to the top of the base. You can potentially kite players indefinitely like this by jumping back down and porting back up, at least until they catch on.
All in all, while at first it doesn't seem like an impressive, level 80 facemelting new spell, I actually like the spell very much. It gives us a dynamic and defensive mobility capability we sorely lacked. And while it does take some effort to get into the habit of using and even then using properly and to good effect, it feels very satisfying when you do.
Two final things to note i've learned from using the spell.
You will always be facing the direction you were facing when you put the circle down. You can use this to your advantage. For instance, if you put the portal down in the enemy base, directed to leave out the front door, no matter where you are or what you're facing, you know that once you hit the spell, you simply have to run forward.
The visual portal effect will persist through death...but the portal does not. Even though you still see the portal where you left it, you cannot use teleport until you place another one. If you do not see the Demonic Circle: Summon buff active on your character, you need to place another circle before you can teleport.
I hope this was helpful.

I still think that setting the circle should be instant cast, or at least able to be cast while on the run, but this spell makes the difference in life and death for warlocks against several classes. Removing snares makes it especially potent against DKs who've figured out how to deathgrip --> chain.
Still, it won't do jack against rogue stunlocks, and those are what really kill the locks.

afaik, nobody has a class spell that breaks stunlocks. That's what

But I agree, it would be awesomely fun if it removed stuns. No Rogue would be safe =P

Retribution Paladins can currently break stuns using
Divine Purpose
, actually...
As for rogues not being safe, right now it's mostly the opposite since rogues know that standing near a demonic circle means that a tasty warlock will be coming soon.
Nevertheless "Feleport", as my guild likes to call it, is a fantastic utility spell that would be all too incredible if it weren't for how obvious its markings are, which limit its PvP potential slightly.

I'd thought there would be more uses of it by now, especially for Ulduar bosses, where it can be very handy.
Here is how I use it in Ulduar, taken straight from my post at my guildforum (posted at the Summon and Teleport spells):
- At
Ignis
place the Circle somewhere close to the healers, or where ever. As soon as you get shot op in the air, teleport. This way you can you straight back to dps'ing. (btw, sometimes you can avoid being thrown up, when you jump just a little before he finishes casting. Mind you, that isn't always the case in which the Demonic Circle is handy)
- At
Razorscale
the same situation. Place the circle and teleport as soon as you get thrown in the air. This way you can get a couple of more spells at Razorscale, and who knows, perhaps you'll get him grounded with those couple of spells ;)
- At
XT,
provided you get to be one of the lucky ones to deal with the bots, place it -facing the way you plan to teleport ofc- somewhere, where you can get quick to the bots. Ofc you can also do it the other way, making it faster to get bet to the boss.
- At
IC
I mostly use it to get away from that aoe lightning thingy. Place it near a wall, not too far though, so that you still have access to it quick, else it won't really be useful.
- At
Mimiron
you can place it on the other side of the room. It is especially useful there at the second phase with
Laser Barage
. Not if the Circle is right in front ofc.
- At
Hodir
you can use it to get fast to a npc, though personally I don't use it there.
- At
Thorim,
you can use it to get away fast from the lightning thingy in second phase.
- At
Yogg
, use it to get across the room fast. Sometimes the big ones that we have to kill are all the way on the other side, if you have a Demonic Circle around there somewhere it's probably faster.
I'm sure that there are more bosses you can use it with that I'm forgetting, so fire away!
(Hmm...just now noticed that I started all those sentences with 'At'.... ah well ^^')

Random information day!
This "problem" was also touched in The Big Bang Theory series
Sheldon: Here's the problem with teleportation.
Leonard: Lay it on me.
Sheldon: Assuming a device could be invented, which would identify the quantum state of matter of an individual in one location and transmit that pattern to a distant location for reassembly. You would not have actually transported the individual, you would have destroyed him in one location and recreated him in another.
Leonard: How about that.
Sheldon: Personally, I would never use a transporter because the original Sheldon would have to be dissintegrated in order to create a new Sheldon.
Leonard: Would the new Sheldon be in any way an improvement on the old Sheldon?
Sheldon: No, he would be exactly the same.
Leonard: That is a problem

I will try more testing, but it does appear to prevent falling damage, fatal or not, if timed correctly.
The instance I discovered this in was a warrior trying to escape from my dots in Grizzly Hills. He was at low health, but felt he was safe when I finally let him mount up, only for me to fly up, cast a Death Coil and Corruption on him, fall to my *supposed* death, only to Teleport unscathed to the Circle I had previously dropped.
On another attempt, however, I was not quite so lucky with my timing :(
I will test more to see how exact that 40 yard range is, regardless of your X-, Y, and Z-Axis.

It's possible to win duels by default in Dalaran using this little gem of a spell.
You just have to set up the circle a little east of Runeweaver Square above ground. Then you can just go to the main circle in the Circle of Wills (The one with the wire-mesh-floor where you can see people in the Arena) and you'll be within range of the circle on the surface. Then just duel someone, and when the duel starts you can mess around with them for a bit, or get their hopes up, before teleporting up to ground-level and forcing them to go out of the duel's range (and therefore forfeit) to get anywhere near you.
Isn't that just evil.

When thinking about this spell, one may think it is possible to skydive with this spell. Place the circle, fly up, dismount, press the teleport button at the right time. I know, it serves no purpose, but it's still a nice little trick.
But it appears the game doesn't refresh the availability of the teleport rapidly, and if you are unlucky you may hit the ground before the game realizes you are 40 yards away from the circle.

Just wanted to take a moment to share some of the fun I've had w/ this outside of Arenas and End Game (which have been the focus of this thread so far).
Best gank against melee in hilly terrain ever: fly in and land on a hill top (where they are), place DC, dot dot, go down the hill, they have to follow, port up. /point /laugh as their hp ticks away.
My other fav. is getting outside of org before the other guy you're dueling and placing the circle on the top of one of the catapults, or inside a building. So conniving only a warlock can do it. mwahahaha.
As someone else suggested, put the circle on the buff in the BGs. Feels so uber 1337 if you ever get the chance to use it. My fav is at the stables in AB. Not only is it a disappearing act, but you get near-instant revenge gratification buff.
Silly fun: dismounting midair and porting (must be in range of the circle first as someone else has already stated) and then looking up to your ashes in the sky.

See, but when you really think about it, this is more like an
un
blink. I always kinda considered the warlock to be a backwards mage (and vice-versa), and this ability adds to my strange list of backwardness.
1) health>mana for a warlock while mages are mostly
only
mana dependant (esp comparing mage spells to
this
).
2) skins affect caster more than attacker (
slowing attacker
and
damaging attacker
vs
extra armor and health
and
extra sp and health
).
3) a mage is self reliant and can buff whereas a warlock often likes heals and can't buff beyond passing out healthstones and ss'ing the healer (however, the lock can now res in a pinch with a ss making it similar to
rebirth
).
4) the mage has no way of recovering health, but many ways to recover mana while the warlock has no way to restore mana (besides life tap), but serveral way to restore health (
channelled mana
and
instant mana
vs
channeled health
and
instant health
). (
note that soul harvest is said to change a little in the 4.2 patch
Nope, still about the same, just a new animation, which I think looks AMAZING)
5) mages can teleport others
to
places, whereas a lock brings players
from
places.
6)
Blink
vs
Demonic Teleport
is really just an extension of (5): blink is a fast-forward button (if you will) while demonic circle is a rewind button.
7) (edit) Pets: Not as universal since only frost mages get the water elemental, but even the pets are backwards.
a) mana cost: the elemental costs a mere 16% base mana while the imp costs 64% and the others (including the felguard and infernal) cost 80%.
b) cast time: aside from the temp summons of the warlock, all of the demons have a 5 or so cast time (infernal has a 2s cast time if I recall correctly) while the elemental is instant.
c) cooldown: the elemental has a 3 min cooldown, but the demons have no cooldown (except for the infernal and doomguard which share a ten min cooldown).
d) play stile: I've not played a frost mage since wrath, but from what I recall, frost mages play
off
the elemental (getting several fingers o' frost procs) while it's the demons that play off of the warlock (felhunter especially).
Now, destro locks
do
get a proc every once in a while from their imp, but frankly, when I roll detro, it's so rare that it's hardly worth counting, but this may just be bad luck on my part. Through talents, demon locks get a really nice buff from their demons, but that's not really affecting playstyle; it's more of just a general dps increase.
