LOL@ hunters that use this on warriors. They can cleave or ww and get VR procs off the snakes. If they use cleave thats global cd Victory rushes against what is a fairly squishy class. To be honest I wouldn't even use it if there is one nearby in pvp.

With entrapment is that 25% off any hit? If these things have a fast attack rate & that's the case, it can be a near 15 second movement resist, granted most classes can take them out but, incredible on mobs who don't know better.

I'm sitting in Westfall on Alexstrasza right now while a bunch of Horde are slaying everyone in the vicinity. I flew in (to the flight master's corpse) and died within moments. I checked my combat log and saw incoming damage on several people from "snake" and "venemous snake", apparently spawned from this trap. They killed me, and several other people, even though we weren't flagged.

Buy a pet snake, and take it out, often, with or without the snake trap
AoE'rs will waste mana trying to get that last snake in arena. :)

Careful when you aproach an oposite faction hunter.They may drop this trap and the snakes will come after you, even if you are unflagged. But if you try to kill them, you WILL GET FLAGGED and then, prolly corpse camped by them xD.

So try to run, never fight back if you know you cant handle the hunter. If you're unflaged youre not going to trigger the trap by yourself though.

(They have a trick to trigger the trap, even if there arent any mobs around. They start a duel with their allys, the ally will trigger the trap, and if you're too close the snakes will come after you xD)

Okay, i'm pretty sure that blizz will end up changing this soon, because this is not how it was intended i am sure, because this makes hunters the only class in the game able to kill/attack others without them being flagged for pvp, and that totally ruins the game's pvp experience, at least that is how the blizzard officials will see it i think..^^

As if the lame trick anti-stealth pet trick wasn't enough, these will also ignore vanish and stealth.

I recently was in a EotS bg and did tried to disenage from a hunter. I did stoneform to clear the dots, then vanished and sprinted away. His pet was dead, so it didnt come after me, but after stopping and turning around I saw half a dozen snakes still coming after me (having come from MT to over halfway to DR).

Ive also had snakes come and attack me from the fight on top of the cap literally 2 seconds after rezzing. Never came within 30 meters of any trap.

So, in essence its impossible to escape a hunter unless he is afk.

Just in outlands in Hellfire, trying to get some crystal infused leather, had a flagged ally running around me. Well I used a snake trap, try to chase him off since he was attempting to taunt me into dueling/flagging, and when my snakes attacked him, I went into PVP. Not sure if the snakes were the exact cause but going to see if I can confirm this.

Edit: Yup, if the snakes attack a flagged person, whether NPC or player, you auto flag. Beware in PVE servers.

Edit#2: Test two proved even more bizarre. I had a neutral wolf cub and it's agro mother attacking me before I laid the trap, the mother died first, and when the snakes slayed the cub, I flagged. Not sure what this was about, but going to further test this bug.

Does anyone know How much total damage in the full duration of the snake trap and the after effects does, I am a fully speced surv huntard and want to know if this or normal fire trap does more damage for pve. Thanks

As of 2.4.3 the snake sometimes randomly stop attacking their target and just wander around aimlessly,

I don't know if this could happen before but I recently noticed it.

If you use Snake trap immediately after a scatter shot, the trap will trigger before Scatter shot fades, and because of the AI of snake trap to ignore CC'd targets, they will spawn but not engage any targets, even after Scatter fades.

In PvP I have had to get used to either laying the trap and forcing the opponent to move unto it by drinking by behind a pillar, Or, by waiting a second or so after I scatter to lay the trap.

https://www.wowhead.com/cata/spell=34600 should actually be trained to hunters by a special trainer called Samuel Jackson and it should be the reward of a quest in which u had to kill 100 snakes before samuel says I had it with the mother*!@#ing snakes on the mother&*!@ing plane.

When I play my mage the worst thing that i can imagine is this trap, yes this is very easy to counter but sometimes is too late ehhh 107 hp snakes beat my mage like a piece of cake because in my right hand i have lasagne instead of having finger on aoe button. This trap should name : instant kill clothies

With the survival talent mastery 14 snakes will be summoned. Snakes trap is only useful with entrapment talent because it can root you enemy for 4 seconds.

When triggered, releases ~14 Venomous Snakes and Vipers with around 125 health. These snakes afflict the following debuffs:

Crippling Poison - Reduces movement speed by 50% for 12 seconds
Mind-numbing Poison - Reduces cast speed by 30% for 12 seconds
Deadly Poison - Deals nature damage every 2 seconds. Stacks up to 5 times.

Hunter traps (especially Snake Trap) do not always stick to Zeppelins and Boats. This is a "Known Issue" as per the 4.3.0 Known Issues List on the World of Warcraft Bug Report forum.

The snake trap seems to act like a pet in that if it solely kills its prey (without your help) you don't get to loot.

Also, watch out if you're in an area with monsters in a tight area. When they're done, half the snakes like to wander off in search of kill #2.

Each trap spawns eight snakes. Each snake has approximately 77hp and 6000 armor. Snakes do melee damage for 10-15 damage each attack, they also poison. The poisons they inflict are Deadly Poison (Rank 1 75 damage), Mind Numbing Poison (casting speed reduced 50%), and Crippling Poison.

It's a very handy trap to have and use.

GG casters. These snakes would prolly be your worst enemy. They have a DoT poision (75 Dmg per 2 secs) Mind Numbing, (50% inceased casting time), and Crippling poision, (Slows movement speed by 50%) and above all that it is 7 snakes with a 1.0 attack speed, (about 20 dmg per hit per snake).

Except for mages that can arc explo these little babies away pretty fast, this is what you wanna use when fighting a caster.

7 snakes with speed 1.0 interrupting casts, not to mention it slows movement and increases casting time by 50%

The snakes are lv 68-70 but gets 1-3 shotted.

Unless you can AOE them i wouldnt go for it though. Their multiple effects and poison strikes pretty fast, and in the meantime while youre busy killing em the hunter can beat the crap out of ya.

*They apply weaker versions of: crippling, mind-numbing and deadly poisons (look on rogue poisons for further info)
* They dont have much hp, any instant aoe or dmg shield will quickly kill them (molten armor, thorns etc)

After the mob who released the snakes is dead, they will flee to whoever mob is closest. Ignoring any crowd control like sap or sheep. Since they apply DoTs u cant resheep it f.ex. so dont even try to use it till all CCs are gone.

Some facts on the snakes themselves:

Each snake has 77hp.
They all have 6197 armor each.

The venemous snakes do 11-16 damage.
The vipers do 25-35 damage.

I assume the venemous ones are the poison users. They use crippling poison, deadly poison, and mind-numbing poison.

They will take down your average Deadmines 18 elite caster in around 7 seconds (bit of useless info ^^).

Actually the aggro goes to the snakes. Very helpful to know. I.E. the OZ event in Karazhan, lay one on top of the girl before the fight breaks out... she will single cast at the snakes until they are all dead.

You will see 21-30 snakes fill the screen.

Right this is funny as hell with how many snakes come up
Place snake trap wait 30 seconds bring something over let him set trap off put down another 1 then do readiness (if ur survival specc) then do another snake trap i took screen shot and counted there was about 40-50 snakes :P

1st: This is a good trap for PVP *wouldnt say it is great in PVE* because of the debuffs the snakes do, sure they can be killed by AOE, hell i bet they could be killed by critters, but by the time you have realised your being bitten by 7 snakes at least one would of got a debuff on you.

2nd: To those who say BM are "noobish" are very very wrong, i see most people say all they do is send pet, intimidation then mob is dead and continue. I would like to ask one quick question to those people, what do you do with a warrior? hit a mob till its dead, what do you do with a moonkin druid? moonfire and starfire till is dead, what do you do with a rogue? backstab/ambush then stun till its dead. Which brings me to the conclusion, if doing the same thing over and over again makes BM hunter "noobish", then what does that make all the other classes that constantly continue the same thing over and over?

Who wants some good laughs?
1. Get a hunter lv 68+ and 1 other
2. Go to opposite faction's starting area
3. Find some lowbies
4. Challenge your friend to a duel (the lowbies will crowd around)
5. Have your friend pop your trap and then /forfeit
6. sit back...relax...and watch the lowbies get raped by the snakes :)

I think Blizz might have fixed this in a patch, but people pick normal servers for a reason. People are really jackasses that set off snake trap right in front or on top of you as you're leveling. Its a normal server because we don't want to be PvPed constantly.

And to the previous lock poster who deleted a shaman... why?

Last night my lvl 49 Nelf hunter was quietly fishing in Arathi Highlands, waiting for a BG, when a horde rode up and put one down by a beast wandering nearby. DAMN horde! lol

It took a moment to figure out what happened, since i was fishing pov. I quickly scrambled on top of a rock, but by then they were gone, snakes and horde. I resumed fishing with track humanoids after that. Can't wait till i'm 68 for a little payback.

Why do people join a game called WORLD of WARCRAFT and then get upset about people being rude or that things are unfair. Hello? What were you expecting. The clue is in the name. The only thing worse would be a company that makes a great wargame and then Nerfs it.

Warfare much as life is neither civil nor fair. What's important is how you learn to overcome these situations.
