Rotting Agam'ar is a unique looking boar to have as a pet. It is the highest level boar you can get until level 48. It has high armor and higher than average health making it a good tanking pet.
I was able to tame this at level 30 without any healing. (Was escorted to the mob by a higher level friend.)
To reach this mob from the beginning of the instance make a right turn, then a left to the downstairs hallway where you see the lv25 boars. It patrols the hallway a little bit behind them.
Its innate skill is Charge rank 3. It can learn Bite, Dash, and Gore in addition to the common skills.

I was just attacked in Nagrand by an orc hunter who had this boar, and the pet was named "Rotting Agam'ar" and the portrait showed as an elite. I don't know if this was a glitch.

Soloable at level 26. Got through 1st mobs with a 23 hyena from outside though it wasn't easy. Had to chain trap some stuff and died a few times but it is doable. No invisibilty potions or anything like that required.

I just saw someone in Shat's bank with this pet, apparently 2.4 broke the pet, and its actrually quite huge, about the size of a night elf, so hunters, try and tame em now :)

Unless you absolutely have to have this particular skin on your boar, the level 25s are just as good and offer Charge Rank 3 as well. I soloed my way to them on my 29 hunter (Beast Master spec). When you enter the instance, the tunnel will branch pretty soon after you enter. You'll have to kill a few solo mobs as well as some couples, but it can be done. Take the left fork and there is a ledge. Down below are all the boars. I climbed along one of the vines that crosses over them, dropped down in a safe place, set my freeze trap and tamed one of the Raging Agamar boars. I was going to wait and tame the level 26 boar, but decided I liked the skin of the Raging boar better.
Also, don't forget to go to Redridge and tame Belly Grub for the Gore ability. Your boar will then truly be a PvP powerhouse.

I tamed this pet yesterday. I was 26, and I tamed it solo. Just had to kill all the elites in my way. Killed a elite, waited to my mana was back up, and the next, until I got to it. It was easy to tame it. The hardest part was getting to it

It's worth noting that this is probably the rarest of the Agam'ars inside the instance, I usually only see 3 or 4 per run compared to dozens of the other two varieties, and often they were patrolling instead of just standing there. you might have to a bit of searching to find one.

not all tenacity pets are the same. these pigs have a 3 second cd on growl. others have 5. makes a significant difference when you consider the talents Silverback paired with Blood of the Rhino.
it creates a constant healing effect.

this is the sickest skin ever, and the boar is also the best tanking pet in the game, great armor, and better than average health, with charge and gore, you cant go wrong with this

K...grab yourself a lesser invis potion. Will last 15 seconds. Go into instance to where first patrol is (your first right turn). Make sure he is about 10 feet down hall AND make SURE you have Aspect of Cheetah on or you will not make it without aggroing.
Take the invis potion and run down hall, pass your first left turn and as soon as you see the vine on your left, jump on and run the circular path down the vine but not to the bottom. You will just make it with maybe a second to spare. Now, tame the pig nearby...I used Freeze trap and specc'd to add 3 seconds to trap. Tame him then abandon him (much easier than trying to kill)...then move to the next pig - tame and abandon him too. After you make your way down the hall about 4 pigs, the Rotting Agam'ar should be next. He patrols so give him a minute if you don't see. Tame him and keep. Only cost me one invis pot.
Good luck.

Boars make wonderful pets and the Rotting Agam'ar are the most beautiful in the game IMHO. I am currently going through the excruciating process of leveling one to 70 since there are no boars to tame in Outlands and I do not like the looks of other pigs closer to my level. I grabbed one as soon as a could on my other hunter and will not make the mistake of abandoning him for a ravager or any other pet in Outlands. There are boars in the Plaguelands and Blasted Lands but none as pretty as this baby. They eat practically anything and charge is a fantastic skill. Plus who can resist when they wiggle their butts and tails? :) I would look at the Petopia site to see what other colorful boars are located in RFK.
RFK is located in the Barrens. It is on your right as you are approaching the Big Lift into Thousand Needles. No need to aggro the guards at the elevator since they are far enough away.

This pet is amazing, yes exactly the same as a normal boar, at the same level, maybe a few different stats.
His looks are very good as far as looks go on the boars, i did him easily not even frost trap or anything needed at lvl 28. i didn't die once with a lvl 37's help.
if your a boar fan this is the one to get intill lvl 32 where you should stable him only for pvp and get the mistave gorilla for pve as he is a very good tanker from the comments ive seen. going to tame him at lvl 32.

Hi
A poem:
"Yaaria's Pig,"
by... ummm... well... by
ME
!
I have a little piggy, now, I rescued from the Kraul.
He eats a LOT of what I've got, but, MAN, he loves to brawl!
He's strong and stout... a solid friend! His courage won't be shaken,
and for a little porcine pal, he sure brings home the bacon!
I sic my friend on enemies. They dodge, duck, zag and zig!
He's got it MADE: They can't evade this rocket-powered pig!
He's THE CHAMP at chomping, goring, charging and at dazing.
He was GREAT at twenty-eight. At FORTY, he's AMAZING!
So let'em try to run away! it's their own GRAVES they dig!
They can't withstand my mighty hand when I dance the Big Pig Jig!

Got this guy at level 28, solo. I also grabbed Arikara that evening as well, so I have both my pets now, I guess.
Doing this solo is certainly possible, but you might die a bit. I only died twice clearing out the pigmen and their pets up top.
Once you get to the ledge where you have to drop down, there are several things to note.
* There are two pats that come to the middle. One is a 28-30 slime, and the other is this guy (the Rotting Agam'ar). You can look right and see the slime, so you should put your mark on the Rotting Agam'ar so you know when he's coming.
* When you drop down, you'll probably aggro a pig right off. Train him, then bandage yourself. It's possible that once you finish training him, he'll aggro one of the other boars. Let him tank while you bandage, then abandon and tame the second one. Hopefully you'll be done before a pat comes. Bandage.
* You'll probably die when the slime comes back, as there's not room to kill him and not aggro anything else. The other pat will likely come back in the middle of the fight as well.
* Anyway, once you get back from those one or two wipes, there should be enough room to train the rotting agam'ar when he comes along as a pat. Just make sure the slime isn't going to get to you first.
Boars are far and away the best pet for solo grinding. They are superlative tank pets -- they have good health and armor, they have charge at all levels, the charge will stun the mob long enough for the pig to get off a growl, and the charge ups the AP of their first attack, adding to the initial aggro lead. They also eat virtually anything you can give them, so you'll be able to feed them regardless of what you're killing.
(If you want to see this, keep a threat meter window open while soloing. It makes life easier so you don't pull aggro from your pet.)
They can also learn Dash (although for soloing, charge is superior), and learn Gore as a focus dump at later levels (Gore 4 is only trainable from a single named mob in redridge, and Gore 5 and 6 don't exist in the wild at the moment. So Gore 7 is only when it really becomes useful).

Ok the directions given seem so much deeper and more complex. In my opinion with decent gear by the time you can tame him, you can solo to him. You walk in the cave curves out then to the right. Then there is a left with 2 guards... that was it. I killed a few guys, patrol, 2 guards and there was a vine along the wall. Killed 3 pigs and a slime and he roamed right up to me. I saw him on track roaming. He looks awesome. I named him Jagannath, the Krishna word for juggernaut. I played with other ideas. Ironsides or Cannonball... but hes tough and armored and charges in. I liked it. I will see if I can make MUCH more clear instructions on how I got him, and/or pictures

The Boars in RFK are very attractive and are a top choice by many hunters who appreciate Boars.
However...ALL boars are the same, in stats. Just because these boars appear to be wearing armor does not, in fact, make them have more armor. Pets Armor is directly related to the hunters stats himself, and Beast Mastery Specced Hunters pets will always have more than their Marks or Survival Counterparts.

Got him yesterday. Solo'ed at lvl31. I must not be a great player cause I did die, three times before getting him. My story on how I got him (using a lot of the advice from above posts).
1. I took my pet boar, used the invisibility potion as suggested, ran, and found my pet was not invisible so died.
2. Second time, used the invisibility potion as suggested, I ended up dropping on a boar and the slim at that same time. Died.
3. With no more potions, I proceeded as follows:
A. Killed horde/boar groups one at a time pulling them into the first tunnel. Trapped one using freeze and killed the other, then killed remaining with help of pet. (I had a lower level boar which I was planning on abandoning anyway)
B. Worked one group at a time, moving to my right and pulling them into the hall. Got some exp and one nice green drop.
C. Once I cleared out to the ledge I could drop down without worry (as stated in earlier posts). I abandoned me pet and dropped down, looking before I leaped.
D. I then proceeded to work through taming the boars I did not want (IT IS EASIER TO TAME THEM THAN KILL THEM).
One other word of advice, have plenty of food on hand. Once tamed, this guy was hungry and ready eat.
I sure love the way he looks and works for me (I had a bear before). Had him leveled to lvl 30 pretty quickly by killing the turtles on the river near Southshore. BTW, he loves turtle meat.

Killed the mobs before the piggies, dropped down, killed some more stuff and waited for the armored piggy to pop by, dropped my current (and useless) pet, tamed the piggy earth the hell out and voila! new pet.

Solo'd this today at lvl 28, no pots used or needed. Just take along a trash pet (I am BM spec). btw this "trash" pet does need to be fairly good to hold agro, so dont go picking up something in The Barrens just before you go into RFK lol. Personally I tamed Bellygrub a couple levels earlier and used that (also gives you Gore 4, which no other beast in the game has).
The tactics I used were -
Wait for the pat that comes to the first corner (set a freezing trap while you wait). Send in your pet and kill the pig-man, whilst you chain-trap it's pet (either a boar or a rock elemental).
Once dead either kill the add or run out of the instance. Running out will despawn the add.
At the first junction there are 2 quilguards or geomancers. Again kill one of them whilst chain-trapping the other. Run out or kill the other depending on how brave you feel :). If you run out, simply run back in and kill the spare.
Once dead, turn right at this intersection. Pull the closest guard and kill it. Wait for the pat and kill that as well using the above chain trap tactics, running out if you need to between kills.
Kill any remaining mobs along this corridor - the "vine" you are looking for is on your left and is like a big semi-circular slide which you can run up and down. At the bottom of this vine (not very long) is where the single elite boars begin. Either kill them or tame/dismiss them.
Watch out for the patrolling elite slime - wait for the right moment and kill it. It comes all the way to the foot of the vine.
Once you have removed 3 or 4 elite boars you will see the Rotting Agam'ar - dismiss your trash pet, pop a freeze trap, aspect of monkey, pull it with scorpid sting and tame away :)
The one I tamed was a 26 elite - it's probs best to wait until lvl 28 as I did to make sure you will be able to tame it (they can be lvl 28 elites). Best looking boar (perhaps even best looking pet) in the game imo. Well worth the effort.

If you want him for lvl 29 bg's you will have to get him by low 28, to get him to best friend status. I was able to get him at 28 solo, step by step guide for a best friend lvl 29 piggy:
Lvl 24-26 tame Bellygrub, beacuse he is the only boar with Charge 4. It's takes a little work as a Horde, swim to Westfall and hope the Goldshire Gankers aren't tipped off to your arrival in PvP
Lvl 26 (doesn't matter what order) go to Duskwood (or sneak if you're Horde) train a Black Ravenger Mastiff for Bite 4 and Howl 2, and Ashenvale for an Elder Ashenvale Bear for Claw 4.
At 27 get a Needles Cougar since they have a clean slate and give him the above goodies (add Growl, no Howl of course) He will be fully trained at least a lvl 5 loyalty by 28.
At 28 you have a nice tank to go after piggy, no trash pet, and it will make all the difference.
The first time I scouted RFK there were Quillboars with minions in the first tunnel, second time there where Handlers with boar pets and the ones with the minions were back in the first room.
I only needed to killed about 10 Quillboars total and the best way is to shoot first, move back toward tunnel, then send pet. A few times I noticed that after I killed the Handlers the pet became a normal not an elite.
Clear enough of the first room to get to the front part of the vine, watch for the wandering slime, shimmy down a bit and get the 24. I may have got lucky cause when I sent kitty he ran up and around probably very close to the 2 warriors still standing in the back of the first room.
Pay attention to your track beast and you will see a 26 that patrols up and down the path and the rest are 24-25's. Pick them off one by one and you'll have lots of room. I set trap, abandened my pet during the fight, tamed np. He was lvl 6 loyalty and 29 when I was about lvl 29.5
Might sound like alot but you have a prime piggy for the next 20 lvl's till 48 when there are higher Gore and Charge. He almost never dies even in bg's, what a tank!

He's leveling faster and i'm prety sure he will be my new tank from now on. I Have a white Lion for PVP and instances. I think one cat for DPS and a boar to tank are two very good usefull tools for any hunter.

Managed to get this critter this morning on my L30 hunter without too much trouble. I was able to pick off the 3 initial guards one at a time fairly easily with my junk pet, which gave me a few extra seconds to use an invisibility and run in to the boars' corridor. Be sure to abandon your trash pet b4 you run in - I didn't and almost came a cropper as a result.
Other than that, it was straightforward - tame and abandon is the way to go. I taught one boar growl and used it to take out the slime that wanders the area, that was the only minor problem.
I love the looks of this guy, and have pre-trained Bellygrub to pass on the optimum charge/gore combination - I suspect I'll keep this one permanently, along with my ghost saber.
Just need to come up with a name for him now...

In my opinion this is the only cool looking boar. I was shocked to see how much abuse it could take after using cats for so long. I managed to get in there by myself at level 28 with a pesterhide hyena as a temporary pet. When it was safe enough, I abandoned the hyena, put down a freezing trap, and tamed the boar without taking much damage at all. Afterwards, I hearthed out and had some fun killing things with my cool new pet.

Look it's ridiculous that people had to come up with a method for taming this pet. My husband and I went in by ourselves, level 24 shaman and me, a level 25 hunter and tamed Agam'ar. All we did was pull enemies ranged and after we cleared out the floor, we tamed the boar. That's all. When we reached level 27 we came back to tame Rotting Agam'ar who was patrolling, and again, easy as pie. You don't have to be a twink, you have to be careful.
It means a lot more if you can do it on your own or with a character of your same level. People who have others who are higher levels run them through stuff are impatient and if you ask me, not the least bit adventurous. The same goes for twinks, c'mon guys! Do things the old fashioned way instead of shelling out a bunch of gold for stuff you'll outgrow in a level or two. We even got some nice BoE blues for our effort!

You can do this solo at 26 without a ton of trouble. Granted it's easier to just get a friends help but if you feel adventurous here is some help.
You will need to have a pet with you that you are going to dismiss for the boar however and preferably one that is leveled up. Make sure to take lots of water and food with you.
Directions
- Enter the instance and follow the hall. When you reach a T intersection you will go right and down the hall. The hall will open to a room with a pillar in the middle and vines to the left. The vines form a ramp down to the boars, proceed down and toward the tunnel. The tunnel will make a 90 right turn at this turn point is the end of a Rotting Agam'ar pat path. If he is not there just wait he will walk to this corner where you can grab him and train. He will be 26 and has been there the three times I have done this.
Mobs
- There are a coupe pulls you will have to deal with. The warriors can be simply pulled back and pet tanked. There are mobs that have a rock elemental as a pet and ones that have a boar as pet. These pulls can be handled by double ice trapping ** the humanoid and pet tanking / dpsing the pet down first who have about 500 hp. Then pick up the humanoid with your pet and dps down they will have about 2000 hp. They are usually lvl 25 but can be 26. You will also have to deal with the brown armored boars to get to the black one. They are 24-25 and have about 2000 hp as well.
** To double ice trap lay your ice trap down and then wait the 30 seconds for the cooldown to finish and then pull. Once the trap springs your free to lay a 2nd trap ready for AFTER the first one breaks. If you can, try to put a large gap between the traps and use a concussion shot in between. This will extend the time that the mob is cc'd as he will walk slower from the 1st trap to the 2nd.
Pulls
- You will want to keep mend pet active ALL the time on your pet while you do this. Kill the pat in the starting hall first. There are then a couple warriors against the wall by the T intersection that you can single pull. When you are looking at the room after turning right there will be 2 pats that you will have to pull once the warriors are gone. Ensure to pull everything back a good distance making the starting tunnel your killing hall. This will prevent them from running away and pulling other mobs as they like to run in fear when almost dead, can be slowed by using concussion shot. There is one other pull that gets hard and that is by the vine ramp. There are two warriors guarding the ramp that are linked. Once you pull one the other will come. Your best bet here is to ice trap one and pull the other back towards the door shooting on the run with instants. Try to dps him down as fast as possible laying a 2nd trap for the other guy who will come running eventually. After the 2nd trap breaks you will have to pick up the warrior with your pet at which point he will be double tanking. Your best bet is to dps the first warrior down and kill him as quick as possible and hopefully your pet will live long enough you can just jump out the instance. This will reset the other warrior and you can then return and single pull him. If you have enough dps and your pet is good enough you can potentially kill them both without jumping out. After that its smooth sailing with a couple single boar pulls before you reach your prize. The boars in the way are the brown armored ones and around lvl 24-25. They pack a killer blow though so don't let them come off your pet, specially when there almost dead and enrage.

I have no idea how you level 28's are doing this.
Ikaheimo is correct, you have to be a twink to do this solo.
I tried doing this with my 35 hunter because I needed a tank pet, and I liked the charge that boars have. I started out by running to Razorfen Kraul, once I got there, I got some potions set up, my pet was in the stable, and I started my first try.
First try was bad, I went down the left side, like most people say to, and found a ton of bad-guys, needless to say, I didn't get to feign death in time, and I died.
Second try, I wen't down the left side again, this time I got feign death off at the edge of the cliff that goes down, but I barely had any health left, so I jumped down when it was clear, and all of a sudden I had 3 raging Agam'Ar's on me, and I died quickly (Although I almost feign death'd, but I had 1 sec left on the CD.)
Third try! I tried the left side AGAIN, this time I got to edge, had half my health, thought everything was alright, jumped down, waited a bit for feign death to cooldown, then all of a sudden those raging Agam'ar attacked again, and I died.
Fourth try, this time, I went the right way, if you have feign death, this is SO much easier, there are alot less mage-type guys, but more of the guard guys, but also if you jump to the left and feign death when you land, there's NO boars that patrol here, there might be one that is infront of you, but he usually does not aggro (He didn't for me, depends on level)

Nice looking pet, a real conversation starter, attracts even more attention than my wind serpent. Soloed (with care) into Razorfen Kraul as a 32 hunter to get it, and as soon as I got back to Orgrimmar my piggy gained a fanclub ! Nice dynamic animations too, makes me laugh ! Probably gonna keep as my 'tank' ish pet. Eats more or less anything. All three varieties of the armored RFK boars look neat. Enter the instance, take first left turn into passage along to a cliff and they are down below you in a canyon.

A great looking boar
It's not to hard to tame this mob solo. I did it a couple of hours ago with my lvl 33 hunter. Didn't die once and didn't have to use feign death. I turned right at the T-junction and walked down to the left afterwards. Rotting Agamar came walking towards me after I killed to regular Agamars down there.

I did it the smart way and got help. I went in with a 60 priest and a 60 combat rogue who are both friends of mine. My hunter was 29 at the time. We got to the spot they are and let the rogue handle the adds. I dropped the ice block trap, the priest hit Renew on me just in case, and I proceeded to tame my pig.
For you RPers among us (why yes, we *are* an endangered species), I'd had a Corrupted Mottled Boar until then, which is a lovely black variety, and wrote it off that my hunter bribed a quilboar armorsmith to armor my pig, and that her lack of happiness and loyalty was because she was smarting from the rivets and not used to the armor. Everyone loves this pig, since the armor is quite striking against the black hide, and you do have to be quite resourceful (either play-wise to solo or socially to bring friends) to obtain this pet.
What I love about this (and any pig pet) is that they make excellent tanks. Fighting 6 murlocs at once in Dustwallow at lvl 39 was so easy, since she can handle the beating. She's not a damage dealer though. Her strength is in armor and stamina, so as a Marksman I can hit hard and she can Growl the mobs into paying attention to her instead of me. It didn't really take that long for her to become loyal again and it didn't take much to retrain her, even with my raging case of Altitis. This and the Bear are probably the best pets for Marksmen.

For some reason, everytime I submit a pic for something, they just ignore me.
