I defeated Mal'Ganis then got stuck in a loop where Cho keeps me sending to fight Mal'Ganis again.

Requires TWW installed :( And it's not even stated before accepting the quest - only at the point when you're supposed to be teleported somewhere.

After killing Mal'Ganis I was still able to loot the end chest from the dungeon and got Dreadlord's Blade, which funnily enough I have been missing as transmog so I'm quite pleased.

You can also just reset the fight by talking to Lorewalker Cho and farm him over and over again.

Quest broken. I'm stuck at "Lorewalking: The Prince Who Would Be King" and can't '"Listen to the story of Prince Arthas Menethil".

It's keeping me in the Monastery, I'm just aimlessly wandering around and can't interact with anyone. I did try Abandoning the quest and going in "bench mode" to retake it, I excite the Story entirely and re-entered with the "Continue" option, but still in the Monastery with the roblox knights hitting dummies.

At the beginning of this, you have to listen to the 2 1/2 minute conversation before the bridge.
When Arthas finally takes off running, follow him. When he stops in the middle entrance part talk to him.
Follow him more into the city until he moves right, and Malganis should appear.
After that is over, you get back on the bench with Lorewalker Cho. Don't converse with him and let him talk.
That should teleport you to the next part. When you get there, talk to Arthas.
Follow him and defeat Malganis. Let them babble for a bit.
When Lorewalker Cho shows back up, talk to him and select the Quest option.
That should take you to Dawn's Reach in Dragonblight.
Pick up the quest The Forgotten Tale. Run through the quest chain, and you should be good.

Lorewalker Cho did not show up after killing Mal'Ganis for me. So I ported out and talked to him in Dornogal instead. Then I could continue the questline

As a huge Warcraft 3/Arthas fan, I was so excited for this. But it's nothing more than a buggy disappointment.

Firstly, I had to come here to figure out what I was supposed to do right at the very start at the Scarlet Monastery. Sure, Uther suggests sparring, but the quest doesn't give any indication of exactly how many NPCs you have to spar with. So I wouldn't have known from the game that I had to spar with 6 soldiers and then Muradin. Immediate red flag.

Then once you get to Dragonblight, suddenly you're doing quests with actual NPCs rather than Lorewalker Cho taking you through the story, with zero explanation why? Felt like a bit of a disconnection, as if they're haphazardly jumbling different quests together. After doing the Forgotten Shore quests, I used the Lorewalker Cho teleport me to the next bit of the story button, only to be teleported back into Stratholme where apparently I have to do everything all over again? And trying it again only teleports me to different areas of Stratholme?

Honestly, just so frustrated by this buggy mess that I shut the game off. I was hoping for some cool transmog out of this, but it seems that the only reward is a toy. Even more disappointing is how lazy and half-assed this quest is. No new models, reusing the same awfully outdated models from WOTLK. At least they made WOTLK Arthas' voice lines higher pitched to better match the far superior WC3 Arthas voice acting.

If you get stuck in an endless loop after the culling, you can stay in Lorewalking Mode, go to Dragonblight in Northrend, 87.2, 57.4 and continue the timewalking quest The Forgotten Tale from Orik Trueheart and then The Truth Will Set Us Free . You'll get an orb and there are some trash rewards, but continue on to pick up the quest from Zelig in Wintergarde Keep. From there, you'll get the quest Frostmourne Cavern which will then let you complete the portion of "Learn about the Doomed Expedition."

In short, you can still travel the world in Lorewalking mode. Hopefully Blizz will fix this since the quests don't seem baked into the Lorewalking.

Yes i CONFIRM this particular questline, unlike the other two, REQUIRES War Within on an Account. When you try to "teleport" at start, which should be automatically by the way, you get a message in chat, precisely about having War Within to get to that zone. So if you are on Russian account, it's impossible to even start a thing.

If you're like me and used the option to teleport to where you should go from Cho and instead of being sent to Orik Trueheart in northrend, you're sent to the begining of the Culling of Stratelhome dungeon, just stay in Lorewalking mode, and manually fly to Northrend and pick up the quests there (and yes, its the wotlk quests that you've probably done many times on your alts)

A little update for those, who don't have the War Within.
Managed to get all the way through to the last part today, in the halls of reflection, but after dungeon's end, it's still impossible to continue,
the message about owning War Within got back :D

As the quest progresses, players can ask Lorewalker Cho for extra insights about the various aspects of the lore behind Arthas. For those who didn't realize this was an option, I've recorded the responses below:

Default Flavor Dialogue:

The story of Arthas is one of tragedy and caution. He was the best his people had to offer, and that set him on a path which destroyed both the future king and his kingdom...

Uther Lightbringer

Originally an accomplished knight, Uther Lightbringer was one of five men who were trained by Archbishop Alonsus Faol after the fall of Stormwind in the First War. In due time, those five candidates became the first Knights of the Silver Hand. Uther was a hero of the Alliance of Lordaeron, an ally of King Terenas Menethil II, and young Arthas Menethil's mentor as well.

It was Uther who helped train Arthas until he became a paladin of the order himself.

Arthas and Jaina

Ah, young love. Arthas met Jaina Proudmoore when they were still both young. Yet over the years they met again and again--he a prince of Lordaeron, she the daughter of the Lord Admiral of Kul Tiras. Rank placed them as equals, but their love of life, of adventure, of knowledge--that was what brought them together.

Perhaps in another world they would have stayed together. Would that this were a happier tale--but history has as much its share of tragedy as it does its joyful moments.

Muradin Bronzebeard

Muradin Bronzebeard was one of three Bronzebeard brothers--his eldest, Magni, was a dwarven king, while his youngest, Brann, eventually became a renowned explorer. During the Second War, Muradin served as liaison between the nations of Lordaeron and Khaz Modan, building a relationship with King Terenas and eventually becoming the official ambassador to Capital City.

Although Uther Lightbringer would one day teach Prince Arthas the ways of the paladin, it was Muradin who took Arthas under his wing and taught him how to fight in combat. The two were very close companions and friends throughout Arthas' childhood and into his adult years.

Undead Plague

The plague of undeath... a source of so much pain and suffering. It rose to prominence as a weapon during the Third War. The Lich King spread the disease to the human settlements of Lordaeron via shipments of tainted grain. Those who consumed the grain would then become infected... and after their death, would rise again as cursed undead.

But it was far worse than that. As undead, these feral zombies could then be controlled by the Lich King, becoming part of his army of monstrous Scourge. Mindless and with no memory of their former lives, they razed Lordaeron, killing anything that stood in their path... including former friends and loved ones.

Stratholme

Stratholme was the second-largest city in the kingdom of Lordaeron, and it was where the Order of the Silver Hand was initially founded. It was an important town, both due to its size and its position as a port city. It was also the city closest to the elven kingdom of Quel'Thalas.

Unfortunately, its size also made it a ripe target for the Lich King's plans. So many citizens gathered in one location--a sizable population just waiting to be turned to undeath. No wonder the city was stricken by the plague. The Lich King wanted to expand his armies, after all.

Mal'Ganis

Mal'Ganis... brr! The creature was one of five dreadlords who were sent by the Burning Legion to serve as jailors of the Lich King. They were meant to keep the Lich King in check, and to ensure that the Plague of Undeath spread as it was supposed to, weakening Azeroth's population in the process.

Mal'Ganis initially led the Scourge forces in Lordaeron. When the Lich King chose Prince Arthas as a suitable champion to his cause, Mal'Ganis helped concoct a plan to lead Arthas to Northrend. There, a dread blade, and an even more dreadful fate, awaited the prince...

The Forgotten Shore

This barren shoreline was once the site of Arthas Menethil's forces, when he traveled to Northrend to find and destroy Mal'Ganis. Despite Arthas's thirst for vengeance, it was not shared by King Terenas. Terenas sent an emissary ordering the fleets to return to Lordaeron against his son's wishes.

Furious, Arthas hatched a plan, recruiting mercenaries to burn the Lordaeron ships and keep them stranded. When the burned ships were discovered, Arthas blamed the mercenaries, and let his soldiers murder them in cold blood.

This coast, and the ghosts that haunt it, are all that remain of that chilling tale.

Frostmourne

A horrifying blade wielded by the Lich King, Frostmourne had the ability to shatter and imprison the souls of its victims, as well as twist the living into mindless undeath. It was at first a tool of the Lich King... and then placed carefully in a cavern for the Lich King's chosen champion to find.

As its inscription said, "Just as the blade rends flesh, so must power scar the spirit." When Arthas took up the blade, he forfeited his soul to the Lich King. Neither paladin nor prince, Arthas was now a death knight of the Scourge and would lead them in a horrific campaign of carnage across his former homeland.

Lorewalker Cho says: I must warn you, friend. This is not a tale for the faint of heart.
Lorewalker Cho says: The Lich King. A figure so horrible that his very legacy defies remembrance.
Lorewalker Cho says: Perhaps we should recall instead the prince who had yet to become king.
Lorewalker Cho says: So begins the tragic tale of Prince Arthas Menethil.

Lorewalker Cho says: As both prince and paladin, Arthas placed the future of his kingdom above all else.
Lorewalker Cho says: Then, one day, a terrible plague beset Lordaeron. One that turned its victims into the undead.

Lorewalker Cho says: Having seen the horrors afflicting his people, Arthas believed it a mercy to spare them from such a fate.

Lorewalker Cho says: Could the people of Stratholme have been cured and saved? We may never know.
Lorewalker Cho says: Arthas was unwilling to risk the rest of the kingdom. All he could offer was a clean death and swift vengeance.

Lorewalker Cho says: Few survived the expedition to Northrend. Restless ghosts haunted those forlorn shores long afterward.

Soooo, you have to drop the quests several times to get past the bugs. So much fun. I suspect these quest developers are offshore...figures.

These are like, elite hardcore titanforged quests, completely untested, made by AI from 2003

You have to use 20+ years of MMO/WoW questing just to progress them, dropping quests, relogging, repeating quest objectives you already have marked off as complete just to progress the story

For anyone struggling with this like I was, talk to Chromie when you're down in the basement. Then, identify the 5 plagued crates. Once you've done that, go to the entrance of Stratholme and talk to Chromie again, which should trigger The Culling of Stratholme for you finally. I felt so silly when I realized how easy it was.

I can confirm one thing. On dungeon you need to talk to Chromie and choose the first option (what are we doing here, so as not to skip – when I skipped, it got bugged) and then identify the five plagued crates and proceed. It will skip to the Mal'Ganis fight; then it worked for me. The first time, I chose to skip with Chromie straight to the fight, went through all the boss fights, and it got bugged after Mal'Ganis. So, do not skip.

Guys if are stuck in Culling of Stratholme, turn off Big Wigs. It auto interacts with chromie and gets you to skip the event where you destroy the plague crates. teleports Arthas inside and starts the dungeon. You need to destroy the crates and watch Jaina's classic "I'm sorry Arthas. I can't watch you do this" line.

Thats what worked for me.

UPDATE - DO NOT USE LOREWALKER CHO'S TELEPORT ONCE YOU ARE IN DRAGONFLIGHT... damn BLIZZ...

If you start this and you don't get quest info about the number of troops you have to spar with, then I'd restart it.

If you get to Stratholme and at any point the quest progression requires killing the minibosses, restart it (you should only have to confront Mal'Ganis).

I think Strat seems to have been copied over from the "Save Chromie" Timelord instance, as at one point I even saw the "waves cleared" tally on the UI. The whole thing is a bit of a mess.

Interesting experience with this buggy mess. I had the usual quest objectives not popping until i was halfway done, Arthas not appearing, accidently asked Cho to teleport me in Dragonblight and got sent to Strat. exitied lorewalking and restarted. Talked to Uther in the beginning and my PC turned off. Rebooted, relogged, said I was in Loraeron garrison. Loading screen got stuck. Alt+F4 and now my toon logged in SW of The Crossroads in N. Barrens. I have no idea why they picked that spot. Off to try a third time.
Ironically, I figured this was a quick way to level...

Update, third time it worked perfectly. All quest tracking, appearances, everything.
