Aradan is tameable at level 70 and it can be done on any difficulty, even on a Follower Dungeon.

Aradan is a tameable Spirit Beast located in the dungeon The Rookery on the Isle of Dorn. It spawns after the first boss, Kyrioss, is defeated.

In order to tame it you need to find the Void-Scarred Stormhammer (Container) which is located deep underwater off the northwestern coast of the Isle of Dorn at 29.06 36.21. This area might appear to be on the fatigue zone, but it is not.

To find Aradan you need to defeat Kyrioss and jump down, Stormrider Vokmar will appear from the left, go up the stairs he came from and turn to your left facing north, you should see Aradan flying in circles.

Use the Void-Scarred Stormhammer while targeting Aradan, it will recognize the hammer and land while turning neutral, allowing you to tame it.

Currently the hammer is not consumed when used, allowing you to tame it again as Aradan has five variations that change the feathers on its head, you can see how they look on the Models Tab on this page.

"Dead, but still twitching from its inherent electrical charge. These eels are a favorite food of cloudrooks and stormrooks."
I brought 100 Lightning Eel to Aradan, it was worth a try.

I also put down a Elusive Creature Lure next to Aradan.

I tried to jump on Kyrioss corpse with the feather buff

I took out my Skittering Eel next to Aradan
As well as one of the storm gryphon pets and the mount itself

I let Kyrioss use his abilities on the rooks' feathers and sleeping places.

I tried to "climb" down the tower
but relatively far down, every step down is deadly, so rather unlikely

i tried /cry /mourn and /pray before and after killing on each stormrook and on Kyrioss itself.

I looked through The Rookery, The Stonevault, Darkflame Cleft and Cinderbrew Meadery. Also Grim Batol (If I read that correctly, the first Skardyn were created here in Grim Batol, by Xal)

I also looked through Isle of Dorn (mostly all houses and places that would have been interesting, and I roughly flew over the whole zone/looked over it)

I let Unruly Stormrook and Voidrider use all their abilities on the dead Kyrioss

I let Kyrioss be killed by others and did not attack him.

I killed the other Bosses while Stormrooks Favor was active.

I left Quartermaster Koratite alive, unfortunately you can't destroy the Voidball and so you can't continue the dungeon.

Freed Chained Stormrook according to the number of feathers near them, so Chained Stormrook stormling first the 2 with armor and then the others with 1 feather. Lastly the one with 2 feathers (0-1-2) also tried the opposite (2-1-0)

Only freed Chained Stormrook wearing armor (the first two)

I let Kyrioss cast his abilities on a hammer in his Room

I threw a Water Filled Bladder at Aradan.

I wore Storm Bindings while killing Kyrioss. I wore it next to Aradan.

I used the emote /sing on Aradan several times.

Let Stormguard Gorren kill me while Stormrooks Favor was active

Let Stormguard Gorren kill me with Crush Reality

Freed only Stormrooks with a void ball in front of them and then in a new id all without.

Something strange that caught my attention Kyrioss was lying dead for at least 10 hours, I thought dead bosses despawn after a while when looted.

Referencing the Personal Journal on The Three Shields (which references loosing the binds to free the rook), as well as Observational Notes: Stormrooks.

--- "He would not tell me the exact origin of them, nor the details that seemed to be only privy to himself and the Stormward, but we did ponder if this stifled "bond" between rider and rook may be connected to these."

--- "...the stormrooks were quite interested in the charged moss. Ingesting it appeared to have a similar (if not significantly reduced) side effect as the lightning strikes had on the rooks and even appeared to heal one of them.

And referencing Lost Archivist Report: Storm Fall in Dhar Oztan, the Keeper returned and bound the Stormrooks:

"These elementals were the first to rain their unordered chaos down upon this sector. Now, they will be its guardians and the weapons you will wield to protect this site."

Stormrooks are not tamed, they are bound; they do not choose to serve, they are forced, though they do seem to take to a rider. The reason why, canonically, whatever is done will make Aradan aggressive in order to make him tameable, would likely be that Stormrooks never take kindly to being re-bound, as referenced in one of the books.

So I was looking through these and thought, hrmm, get the cursed axe, wait for it to turn you, then try to make a macro for "Binding Shot", as from the above "...No stormrider has ever been permitted to combat train a rook without bindings." I was not able to make this work however, but I think binding shot might be a key component to taming this one.

Im thinking you have to coax it down with food to the ground, cast binding shot on it, then you can tame it.

So far... i have scoured every inch of the dungeon and cant find anything that is interact-able or clickable. doesnt appear to be something from inside the dungeon to get him...

I haven’t levelled a hunter yet, but I have Alunira - has anyone who’s unlocked Alunira tried the above steps? I’m only thinking that maybe a stormrook demigod might have some kind of allure for the mourning stormrook.

I have scoured the waters below where Aradan flies, and found nothing; nor on the landmasses.

I also went through the entire list of Objects in Isle of Dorn, and couldn't find anything that could be, unless it's a hidden buff. So...don't waste your time doing that like I did.

Has anyone found a Void-Scarred Stormhammer yet? Someone in the secret finder discord noticed that in the database but it's got no drop listing or location yet. Don't know if it's the thing or even in game but it's worth a try if you can find it.

I have now tested a few things about how to tame Aradan. Here is my list so far.

I stood next to Aradan with Lampyridae Lure to see if this otherwise useless toy had any effect. Unfortunately not.

I bugged past Kyrioss so as not to kill him. Unfortunately no other NPCs spawn further down as long as he is still alive. The door to Stormguard Gorren is also locked without the kill.

I killed my pet and used /mourn.

I just pretended to be dead for 15 minutes and so was my pet.

When I was close to the last boss I used a trick to get back up to Aradan using the lightning ability that Stormrider Vokmar gives you to stun the small enemies when you are under the water. Unfortunately, this ability also has no effect on Aradan.

I used the /mourn emote on every dead storm rider cadet. There are many lying around everywhere up to Stormguard Gorren. After Stormguard Gorren there are none.

I also looked around with a bug down by the water and in the mountains around Aradan but I couldn't find anything there either.

What I did notice, however, is that Aradan is marked as neutral and vulnerable as soon as you use a toy like Blue Crashin' Thrashin' Racer Controller. Unfortunately, the toy doesn't reach up to Aradan and the flying toys cannot be used in the dungeon.

EDIT: There's this camp with all the Stormriders in Dharoztan. What I noticed is that there are 5 Stormcrows there that eat harvested mosswool. You can click on the piles of Mosswool but nothing happens. Could it be that 5 players in a group have to click on them at the same time to get something and then go into the dungeon to feed it to Aradan? It would be similar to the pet courage from Shadowlands where a group has to pet the kittens at the same time. Plus, you don't know what Aradan is mourning for.

Jumping on the things tried bandwagon:
-Tried approaching her as an Ascended Narubian (using the injector trinket), no response (also tried taunting in this form)
-Tried approaching her with Cinderbrew and 1 of each type of gem (both cut and uncut), no response
-Tried approaching her in Stormriders attire (both lightning and non lightning variant, in all colour variants), no response
-Tried using the delve toys, no response
-Tried with just "The Storm Rider" title
-Tried all the above with "The Storm Rider" title
-Used play dead with Cloudrook pets
-Tried feign death with "The Storm Rider" title

Things I took note of:
There was a journal that gives a nice rundown of stormrooks in the village just south of where you start the expansion, and it mentions an obelisk thats used as binding, so looked around the village, the thundery mountain tops to its north, and throughout Dornogal. Didn't find anything of note.
It mentioned something of rooktenders, so went to seek out Lufsela, but has nothing to note to say. Only points out that rooks (both storm and whatever the other ones were) like mosswool.
Mentioned Obeglim (or something along them lines) and had nothing to note other than stormrook like lightning eels.
The plaques at the graveyard bought up that a few of the stormriders were fallen by the nerubian, so I attempted that but I have that weird feeling that it may still be involved despite not working.
Tried going through the entirety of the Rookery, then combing through it for a mentioned voidtouched hammer, to no avail.
Went out as far to lay down a feast and a picnic infront of Aradan just for no response.

Its in deep waters, Swim down you will find a hammer, Grab it, hearth back to town, go to the dungeon and tame in follower dungeon.

Around coordinates 29.06 36.21 on Isle of Dorn, underwater, there is a lootable Void-scarred Stormhammer. Pick it up and run The Rookery up to the first boss (Kyrioss). From there, go down the hole in the middle and past Stormrider Vokmar, and up the stairs to the outside portion. Aradan will be to the left as you exit, flying around. Get somewhat close and use the hammer, causing Aradan to fly down and become neutral and tamable!

TAMING ARADAN

First off - thanks to the 'Secret Discord' for their efforts and contribution in figuring this out.

So - the first thing to do is get the hammer (it's called Void-Scarred Stormhammer).
(it's a Soulbound item and DOES NOT disappear on use - this will be important later).

Go to the "Isle of Dorn" and then fly to the following coords below:

COORDS: 29.06 36.21
It's located deep underwater, near some plants on a small hill, it's rusty brown in color. You'll know it when you see it as nothing else in the area looks like it (or has the unique coloration).
Once you have it - Q for a Follower Dungeon named "The Rookery"...

Clear the area in the beginning, kill the Quartermaster and one of your followers will say something about the orb channeling into the Stormrooks (it's a purple clicky). Once you disable it you will be able to mount a Stormrook and fly across to the next area. Go inside - clear trash and kill the first boss Kyrioss. Once you have done that jump down to the first ledge in the middle. Grab a feather and float all the way down to the bottom. If you're not after the dungeon completion itself - then ignore the trash at the bottom...

Instead - take a left where Stormrider Vokmar just came from. There will be stairs on your right - follow them all the way up and take another left once you're at the top and run around the curve until you see Aradan flying around chaotically in circles. In order to tame him you must first bring him down. In order to do THAT - you will need to get as close to him as you can when you use the hammer, which means go stand on the rocks at the edge. When he flies towards you use the hammer. By time he flys over you the hammer will complete it's casting and you will notice Aradan's flight pattern will suddenly become very smooth and he will fly down to the ledge and land, becoming neutral.

TAME.

Now to get the double pet look, leave the dungeon, Q back up for it, and repeat everything you just did (the hammer can be used again as it does NOT disappear upon use).

...and apparently there are different cosmetic looks that Aradan has so if you're looking for a certain "look" you might have to try this a few times, and then a few more times to get the double pet look...

So anyone saw other colours coming up, just want to know if its worth to keep trying, my huntress is void elf hence uses a purple storm birb, so i would like 2 purple aradan not blue

Am I the only one who gets 'Creature not tameable' while trying to tame him? I used hammer properly and he flew to me

If you have your noob hat on like me and find it "untameable", you need to be in Beast Mastery spec.

As of the new 11.2 patch, Aradan is no longer tameable. I have been standing in various places on the platform where he flies around and spamming the hammer, he does not react to it and land on the platform like he as since he was first discovered.

Great work, blizz, I only needed one more look to complete all the tames.
