I want Metamorphosis back so badly :(
MoP warlock class design was the goat. Retail still hasn't caught up with it after the redesign in Legion. Especially regarding destruction. Chaos bolt looking like a generic green blob , dealing pathetic damage that is sometimes surpassed by our filler Incinerate , having to jump through hoops to keep immolate up on multiple enemies while most of our aoe damage comes from stacked rain of fires that completely whiff if the mobs get kited out of them.And demonology is just now starting to get satisfying to play after years of perfecting this pet summoner playstyle. Still I can't help but miss the old metamorphosis gameplay since the only thing ''wrong'' with it was that it was stepping on the toes of the new shiny class that was coming out in Legion. Even the DH metamorphosis doesn't hold a candle to the mop warlock one in terms of transforming gameplay and being the core of the spec.For affliction I just feel that something was lost when dot snapshotting was removed. This new malefic rapture gameplay is pretty fun overall but there are still some kinks to work out like having too many dots to keep up when 2 or 3 enemies are present.MoP classic is gonna be a blast for a warlock main like me thats for sure. I dont know if I will ever be able to play retail destruction again if it doesn't get sorted by then though.
Ah yes MoP warlock, where they had tons of utility, top damage, could fight while moving, were unkillable.... it was such an ass design giving a class everythin and then not fix it for 13months+.
So my WL being able to tank in SoD is basically a design concept from MoP, I had no idea.
Whilst I loved warlock back in MoP, current demo is a lot more fun than MoP demo was. Anyone who disagrees may have forgotten that in order to deal aoe damage you had to tab through all targets and cast corruption one by one, then enter meta and tab through them again to cast doom. Destruction was definitely in a much better state than current destro though.
Can we hav one of these for the legion dk reworks?
It was the specification that I had the most fun with in wow to date... I even started playing on the official Blizzard servers just because I was fascinated watching Warlock demo gameplay on YouTube... too bad it was destroyed to the ground and the meta as a caster wasn't there is more.
They should do it again. "Affliction reworked in The War Within". Thats the Wowhead title I wanna read. Demo shines early into a patch, destro later, affli shines in... Legion. No dot extension with 20 dots meanwhile moonkins and spriests with 3 dots get it just like multiple dot application with one button... Malefic is a$$ to play, by the time you apply your dots they falling down. Its just a piano simulator. And its just still Single Tartget :)If they wont rework affli its safe to say I will play MoP-WoD-Legion Classic more than Midnight/Last Titan.
Dark Apotheosis was the most fun I've ever had as a warlock. Newer iterations of warlock have never been even 10% of the fun this provided. I learned how to play warlock purely because I wanted the green fire. I enjoyed it so much that I stuck with it. Then came Dark Apotheosis, which brought an entirely new and fun playstyle. I don't care that cringe edgelord demon hunters exist; BRING IT BACK. Modern warlock is just a mage with a touch of beast mastery hunter, and that's boring. I still like my LF warlock mind you, but still.Sadly, it rests with other great experimental specs, like Gladiator.
I had played a Demo Warlock since I started playing WoW near the end of vanilla. That ended when they turned the spec into a summoner rather than an in your face demon enhanced warlock. I was sad to see fun aspects of the old days get slowly torn away, but the big overhaul that is still today's Demo spec is just not even close to the same gameplay (which more or less became the Demon Hunter class), and this is when I stopped playing it. Maybe rename the current Demo spec as a Summoner, and bring back the old Demo as Demo again (wishful thinking).
Was it MoP that had the Drain Life AOE or was that Legion?
IF you didnt live through the Xelnath era.. you def missed out. This motherfkr would actually go to forums and discuss / argue design points with people as a lead dev, LOL. He was pretty popular with us back then. Only other high level dev to ever do something like this openly is TFT's Mortdog.
MoP ToT Demo locks were gods. Meta saved my raid numerous times. Then SoO came out next patch and Demo was nerfed so hard it became unplayable. WoD fixed some of those nerfs but Demo locks never attained that ToT power again with Meta.
