+1it sucked so much to ding 50lv. Ilvl was so unproportionable low compared to Shadowland content that you can't even run normal dungeons.
Cool. I have nothing bad to say about ilvl/player level squishes. It does smooth out the leveling and make is less daunting by creating the illusion of having to go 60 levels instead of 70.
well as long as the difficulty of mage tower decreases i am fine with it
Won't they have to do this for every expansion henceforth? Exactly because of tiers within an expansion. The moment another expansion is out there is part of the line to correct. I suppose it should be easier to do it in a single expansion, then, since everything behind is already adjusted.
I was reading about this on Reddit yesterday - was wondering when the news would hit here.
The chart shows ilvls topping out at 160, so that is being squished as well in Dragonflight? Sigh, this sort of thing always causes unforseen problems.
Why do you hope that? The only material improvement offered by an itemlvl squish is looking at slightly lower numbers. 160 rather than 280.On the other side, every squish causes tons of problems with legacy content scaling. The devs fix most of them, but it takes months after release to get there. Is that worth it? To me, no.
I dislike ilvl based scaling. I think it was the worst addition to the overworld. Ideally they would remove that tech from the game if they are doing an overhaul this major. The games numbers being tooled around with every couple expansions is kinda the norm now. Numbers really don't have a lot of meaning in this game when they don't remain static for very long; HP values , Dmg, secondary stats values, character level it's all been changed around multiple times at this point. So it's best to just ignore the numbers in the game now and approach everything relativisticly. As long as this doesn't effect my below max level characters ability to solo stuff they were soloing prior to the change it doesn't matter to me.
Well, yeah. But every previous squish broke that stuff and I see no reason to expect this one won't too. And sometimes they don't fix it. BFA outdoor content is still very high health, and many BFA mythics can't be soloed. Several Legion bosses can't be soloed.
I wonder if the ilvl scaling is on the ptr as well, as I see a lot of people talking about being in a place where their copied non-level 60 characters are struggling on the ptr. I would assume it is this way, but, we all know what assuming does.
Let's only hope old raids don't become harder to solo... again!
Maybe they're finally fixing the wild low-level scaling. As of now you start at level 10 as a literal god in random dungeons, and slowly become weaker and weaker until 50
Scaling the stats I understand, but squishing the item level numbers never sat well with me, All of wrath raid items are now item level 100? It was nice to look at a item's level and instantly know which expansion dungeon or raid it came from. 200 Naxx 10, 264 Icc 25, 346 Cata heroic dungeon, 378 Firelands.
