Call me a cynic but I have zero confidence that this goes without issues. And I fully expect these issues to be explained away as "working as intended".
at this rate eventually we will have the same stats from ilvl 1 to 144... i feel they need to redo the ENTIRE ilvl, stats and drop per expac stuff in a way that they should not need to changes for a longer time
I'm not surprised they're having to do this at allAs that's what happens when you squish 7 expansions worth of gear down dramatically... TWICE...originally... we max had (according to wowhead)Vanilla 88TBC 164Wrath 284Cata 416MoP 566Wod 735Legion 1000so going up fairly equally... 100-300 at mostBFA then shrunk these down to Vanilla 62TBC 94 Wrath 102 Cata 114 MoP 130 WoD 149Legion 265BFA 485 already looked a bit wonky... and what was laughable was how they crushed everything down to be really small in between all the prior... but then kept going at the same +200 to 300 range for BFAthen shadowlands prepatch came, and they crushed it down againVanilla 30TBC 34Wrath 35Cata 38MoP 45WoD 47Legion 54BFA 140Both times... legion then nearly doubled the previous xpac's new max ilvl... and then BFA did the same... and so did shadowlands (with a max of ~300 now). every time they've squished it all down, only to continue on the previous number's increase.but... even then.. we're talking an increase of 100-200 ilvl in a single xpac. not thousands, not millions. I understand the general need to squish certain numbers down so that we're not dealing billions of damage per second to raid bosses with quadrillions of health... that makes sense (if nothing else, just for keeping computational combat numbers down). But squishing ilvl just never made sense to me... it's not a big number, and never will be. It went up ~250 per xpac, and looks like that'll continue (that's fine). If they had never squished ilvl ever... BFA would have been ~1250 ish, and Shadowlands would have been ~1500 ish. Frankly... that's nothing crazy at all. If they had left ilvl alone, we'd still be looking at ~1750 or 1800 ish tops for dragonflight... we'd probably have to wait til the next expansion after that to breach 2k >.<So yeah... of course they need to readjust the numbers back up again to smoothen out the jarring spike they've created.Either way... every single recent xpac, they've done some form of squish. I get it, I do... but every single time, they've borked it up, and then taken months to fix the errors they created in doing so (if they ever did fix it). And every single time, they've made the problem worse after very short amount of time :S Wish they had just left it alone honestly... I also still significantly hate that they squished our main character level in the game... wrath classic is coming out and they're literally overtaking retail in lvl now... feels so weird and again... was needless. we'd be lvl 130 now (or maybe 125 if they went +5 from now on)... really not that crazy. and levelling was fine with the double xp buff at end of BFA. Bah... I love this game, but they don't half make some seriously bad decisions that just cause more problems than they supposedly 'fix' /rantover
Item level needs to increase stats by a static amount instead of exponentially like it is currently. Difference between ilvl 100 and ilvl 200 should be a 2x difference but currently it's like an 800% difference. Higher ilvl goes the more each individual ilvl increase increases in value which just makes no sense and causes hyperinflation. No reason we should be doing literally triple our damage s4 compared to s1.
i love this
I'm leveling a warlock now for fun to get to know the class and I fell like everything dies so quickly. It's not fun when you cant ever use your abilities to try new things. Once in a while there is some sort of boss npc to kill that lasts for 15 seconds (wow!) instead of 5. Dungeon is not a place for such trials, I don't want to ruin others game and doing it on dolls is not fun either, I don't understand why world content can't be a bit harder or why there is no option for higher difficulty mode, totally doable.
They should have done this before shadowlands released...I can only imagine the difficulty of levelling up when it was first released and how hard it was without all the shortcuts they added in later patches.Glad they are thinking ahead for DF and doing it now. When I levelled to 50, couldn't even queue dungeons until I geared up somewhat by doing a few world quests...in fact I had a much easier time in a dungeon than facing mobs outside in shadowlands....goes to show how messed up the scaling is that solo questing is harder due to the crappy item level gap. This is further exacerbated by the fact monsters had more HP than my character and did a ton of damage. That makes no sense and in all the expansions prior, this ilevel gap was never this dramatic. For some reason, ilevel inflated together with damage and hp and everything else in the game....(as well as real life...) Wish this change was pushed live NOW...
