I remember it like it was yesterday. My very first epic drop was Destiny

The most epic drop I have ever gotten so far, would have to be the nightmare for me that was the Cleated Ice Boots (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=35600). It took me almost a week and 12 runs to finally get them to drop. For a while I seriously thought the game was out to make my life miserable. Throughout all the parties they never dropped once. I was usually the only hunter in the party so my chances of getting them were pretty high if they did drop. Except for my tenth run when they finally did drop...We just finished killing the boss and sure enough up popped the boots I was happy to say the least, I hit Need and up popped a 23. I knew at that point I most likely already lost to the other hunter in the party...and as if the game sensed this and more or less to add insult to injury, it allowed the hunter to not only beat me...but to do it in numerical sequence with a roll of 24.After that I was bound an determined to get these boots just as proof that my luck doesn't suck...It took two more runs but sure enough I finally got them...and replaced them about two days later with Swiftarrow Boots (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=43443). Moral of the story:Don't give up on getting that one piece of gear that you think is going to be freaking awesome...unless your going to replace two levels later.
For me it was Destiny. First epic world drop I ever got, off a Winterfall furbolg.
It was long ago. When i played pally on US Warsong. My first epic drop was http://www.wowhead.com/?item=869 from ogre inside one of the many caverns in Strangleton Vale. It was so sad that i was ret pally and this sword was One-Hand.
My most Epic drop ever was when the Ancient Amani Longbow from Zul'jin in Zul'Aman. I just logged in, was prompted with an invite, accepted and summoned "I had no clue where I was going" Our guild leader notifies me that we are in Z'A. My first time!... but we were on the last boss. I wasn't pleased to get saved for one boss. But I never said a word and never blinked twice when it dropped and I won the roll! Not bad for a few minutes. And a great upgrade over the Wolfslayer Sniper Rifle.
The most Epic item for me was my Lionheart Blade. I dropped Engineering on my Paladin and farmed for about two months all the Mats(this was before I hit 70, so I couldn't rely on Gold from Dailies to buy anything). I finally got the blade about a week after I hit 70, and celebrated by soloing normal Ramparts.
Got to be Dragonstalker's Legs. We raided Molten Core to tears, but it NEVER dropped. Then we stopped doing MC for more progress in AQ40, and every saturday there was a Mc pug that managed to down Ragnaros. I joined them. And still no DS (or GS, which didnt drop either). Until the last week before TBC, last Ragnaros kill I saw it drop for the very first time. And I won!
