Tree's only seem to give 1 (or 2 if you are very lucky) logs a node.

Northern Azsuna seems to be the best place currently I've found. I fly a circuit of the zone north of Nar'thalas Academy.

I pray for you if you need multiple Legion items. I'm already contemplating the Void just making two Arcan'dor Cutting Fountains!

These can be farmed in any wooded area throughout Azsuna. Equip Demonsteel Stirrups to collect them without getting dismounted.

It took me about 25 minutes to collect the 68 that I needed. I focused mostly on Northern Azsuna and occasionally flew over to Suramar. During that time, 2 dropped four times, and 3 dropped two times.

These wood numbers are calculated for crafting decorations from all professions in Early Access Housing. With the launch of the new Midnight expansion, these numbers will likely change.

Ironwood Lumber (Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms): you need 506 pieces
Olemba Lumber (Outland Zones): you need 512 pieces
Coldwind Lumber (Northrend Zones): you need 465 pieces
Ashwood Lumber (Cataclysm Zones): you need 451 pieces
Bamboo Lumber (Mists of Pandaria Zones): you need 526 pieces
Shadowmoon Lumber (Draenor Zones): you need 451 pieces
Fel-Touched Lumber (Broken Isle Zones and Argus): you need 594 pieces
Darkpine Lumber (Battle for Azeroth Zones): you need 476 pieces

The way I found do collect these is to go to Val'sharah and Suramar. *** Put on your Demonsteel Stirrups and mount up. :) *** I did my hunting in tandem with gathering Dreamleaf and Starlight Rose. Approx 1 hr of flying around (I used Steady Flight because of all the start/stops) gathering these and I got 115 Fel-Touched Lumber, 87 Starlight Rose, and 123 Dreamleaf and I didn't gather every herb node I saw. The Lumber seems to respawn fairly quickly as I was able to gather from the same tree after completing a circle around Felsoul Hold.
I love the way we are having to revisit old content to do these. I always felt that it was a shame that all the work that went into each xpac was essentially null at the new xpac drop.

Compared a few different spots for this Lumber:

Azsuna: 330 lumber/hour
Suramar: 330 lumber/hour
Val'sharah: 290 lumber/hour
Highmountain: 350 lumber/hour

This is on a druid fully focused on gathering lumber with no distractions. Several good choices as long as you avoid Val'sharah (too rough navigation between all the trees). Highmountain can definitely be the best but you need to figure out what areas to avoid.

Update: Had to farm another 250 of this lumber for the achievement, so decided to try out the Broken Shore North Isle spot recently mentioned by others. It's not awful but you should definitely find better results elsewhere. Maybe if you really want a small contained area to randomly fly around in for some lumber, you'll like it.

Legion lumber is currently broken. Don't know why, I've been flying around other zones collecting lumber all day, but just like Draenor, there is no lumber anywhere in any Legion zone.

And yes, obviously, I have the axe and I have clicked on it to view the nodes.

There is a small elven zone on the north of Broken Shore. Plenty of tree spawns close to each other and they respawn pretty fast.

If you're wondering, like I was, how to even gather Lumber:

You will need to unlock the ability to see and collect Lumber by completing the quest Lumber For You, which is part of the Introduction Questline to Player Housing.

If you have already completed the Intro to Housing Questline on a character on your account, you will not have to complete it again on each subsequent character.

Instead, in order to unlock Lumber on alts:

1) Travel to your capital city's Portal Room; take the portal to your faction's Housing Area
2) Fly to the central hub and locate your faction's Lumberjack NPC near the "House Upgrades" NPC (the Horde Lumberjack is Xiz'ro, at /way 53.63, 56.73)
3) Speak to the Lumberjack NPC and buy Harvesting Hatchet from him for 25 Gold
4) Open your inventory and use the Harvesting Hatchet
5) Voila! Now your character can see and collect Lumbers across Azeroth and beyond.

594 x Fel-Touched Lumber Farmig takes about 2-3h in. According to @Beace and Elessar10 (thx!) Azsuna, Suramar, Val'sharah and Highmountain are great for farming. Consider chosing a specific zone and combine it with farming some of the following crafting reagents for decors. !Use Demonsteel Stirrups to farm more efficient!

5 x Blood of Sargeras (From class hall missions, dungeon drops, farming professions and other sources - Before farming lumber, check out your class hall and start a mission with this reward.)

You need to harvest 250 of this type of lumber to earn the achievement Legion Lumberjack and from then on, you can gather the lumber while mounted. Speeds up the process quite a bit, unless you're druid.

To increase lumber gathering speed/efficiency, one might want to consider to enable the "Interact Key" in the options and then do a little bit of more fine tuning.
Directly from the Options menu, you can bind the Interact Key to a specific button on your keyboard.

Enable Interact Key (image)

Copy/paste the following commands (including the / symbol, too) in your chat window:

/console SoftTargetInteractRange 30 -- this increases the reach of your interact key (default is 10)

/console SoftTargetInteractArc 2 -- this allows you to interact with objects even if you're not facing them

A great place to farm Fel-Touched Lumber is on Broken Shore in The Weeping Terrace area <44.02, 16.90>, just northwest of the Vengeance Point flight-path.

The respawn rate is incredibly fast. If you have herbalism Starlight Rose is scattered around this area as well.

Don't forget to make sure "Tracking Lumber" is turned on. ;)
