This combined with Deadly Throw gives rogues the ability to kite and kill things from a long range.

The best way I imagine doing this would be to cast a single Shuriken Toss and then use Deadly Throw to instantly put the 6 second slow.
Then just continue using Shuriken Toss and use Deadly Throw every time you have 5 combo points.

Alternatively, if you're a Subtlety rogue you can use Premeditation at the start instead of using a single Shuriken Toss

For anyone that is wondering, "why is this even a talent compared to Versatility and Anticipation?"

Well, the normal Throw is a very weak ability at the moment. Although it's a .5 second cast, it only does about 1.5k damage per hit.

Shuriken Toss, however, is an instant cast and hits for about 15000-25000 damage. You can even spam it, as long as you have over 20 energy. You also pretty much become a ranged rogue, throwing a shuriken at the same speed of your melee attacks, so long as you're 10+ yards away.

It's a very good talent for kiting enemies, finishing off enemies with low health, or generating combo points from afar.

Versatility is no longer a talent as of patch 5.2, having been replaced by Marked for Death.

Actually, as of recent patches, I have come to the conclusion that this ability ~~is overpowered~~ got nerfed in patch 5.3!

I fell in love with this talent after killing an ice mage and a hunter in PvP while rooted. They thought they could kite me, ahahah.

Shuriken Toss builds combo points fast and allows damage (including poisons) from a distance. Anticipation is mostly useful during the 12 seconds of Shadow Blades, while Shuriken offers much more flexibility for all types of situations.

Unfortunately, it no longer procs crippling/non-lethal as of 5.2.

Stacking with Deadly Throw may mess with your gameplay style. Rogues are still a melee class and need to close in and connect. When you do reach your opponent, you'll have five combo points for a sweet finisher.

Don't underestimate this new throw ability.

Now this Can be amazing against mages especially (and in general, in PVP). Use this to build some combo points, wait for the enemy to cast a spell (while you are nova'ed inside your smoke bomb or whatever..) and then use either deadly throw or shadowstep + kick/stun to interrupt them. There are many other scenarios you can use it in... But!

The best use I've found so far for this is .. farming low level mobs in Combat spec! I'm killing the pirates in Tanaris so fast that getting 3 reputation per kill doesn't really matter ! This thing is awesome - It's got so cheap energy cost. You can make a macro similar to this and use TAB to target enemies.

It seems Shuriken Toss and Shuriken Toss Off-hand replace auto-attack for the duration of the buff.
~~Curiously, this "replacement" attack seems deals shadow damage.~~ Latest build changed it to physical. Now I wonder how this will interact with (aside from more combo points), if at all.

With the incoming buff for this talent in 5.2 I can see a lot of ranged classes QQing about it. It certainly feels nice to smack in-yo-face combo point generation to ranged when they used to render Rogues completely useless when CCed. Hunters and Mages certainly hate this, most ranged in my guild hate so much this talent when fighting Rogues...

When I talked about the incoming buff for this talent the ranged's rage just boiled in my guild chat.
Priceless.

This ability, combined with Deadly Throw is one of the best ways for rogues to survive in many Brawler's Guild fights, especially Dippy. Note: Shuriken Toss and Deadly Throw are instant abilities and can be used WHILE MOVING!

Here's a nice little macro I call Spam Shuriken. I've been using it to quickly clear out low level instances while farming mounts/pets and to mass apply poisons to improve my DPS in instances.

I was able to increase my DPS by about 5k by spamming poisons on large mob pulls using this macro.

I have toyed with shuriken toss on my 90 rogue and can say the upcoming nerf is pretty well-deserved; it hits for a large amount, is spammable, costs next to no energy, and ALSO builds combo points. It is ridiculous in it's current (5.2) form.

I fell in love with this ability during the (still ongoing as of 08/2013) Barrens campaign.
My rogue freshly dinged 90 and this campaign is an easy way of getting quality gear easy.

Alas, the Kor'Kron commanders had deadly anti melee mechanis for the laggy and/or ill geared toons. Death occurred often due to "fire" and not getting out quickly enough. Shuriken toss offered me to be midly usefull in dealing damage whilst not dieing.
Dps was roughly cut by 50-66% of normal. Better than dead and zero dps, I say.
