Fun and interesting quest to deal with. Ran this with a warrior. After clearing most of the bottom area we went up and began clearing around the statues.

Be careful of mobs that travel a path. We learned that the hard way when a slime came around the corner unexpectedly. And there is an order to the statues that must be followed.

Before activating the last statue, be sure nothing has re-spawned down below on the steps or in the water. If clear, activate the last statue click into cat form and jump down (softer landing) and try to not get punted by the mob that spawned. The punt won't kill you... the fall from being punted will.

The good thing about this quest is that it's near the beginning of the instance and as long as everyone knows what they are doing things will roll along smoothly.

From my experience, this part of Sunken Temple is easy, compared to the part for the Warlock feather quest. I was able to clear this part with 2 people, including me and a warlock (LvL 60 me and mid 50's Warlock).

Just remember not to move around too far, or you will run into more mobs, and be doomed for sure.

And just for those who didn't know how to do this:

To get to this area, go downstairs when you enter the instance. Then, pass some mobs until you see a room with steps leading down to watery pool below.

Before the steps should be an object that you can right-click (gold gear appears on it)

When you do so, green lights should appear shining on the atalai statues that you must press to summon the boss you must kill on this bottom floor. Watch the order that the lights touch the statues, that is the order you must press them in.

After that, go upstairs, press the statues in the correct order, and do as Niekon did. The boss is very simple to kill, it just has a high amount of HP, so don't be scared of it.

The order of the statues is:

(on mini map)

6 oclock - 12 oclock - 8 oclock - 4 oclock - 10 oclock - 2 oclock

If you're doing it right ~ the statues will light up green as you go ~ I wrote them down exactly opposite by accident and was very frustrated. Hope this helps!

Nimfo has it right, but in case you're not too keen on the clock analogy here's another way to get the statue locations in the right order:
South, North, SouthWest, SouthEast, NorthWest, NorthEast

Was looking for better gear to see what would be the best choice.

For healing gear, the bonus to healing on the Forest's Embrace is godlike. You won't find anything even close until Outland, when you can get Sacred Feather Vest (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28050).

If you're Balance, take the staff. The bonuses on it are very nice, and while you will replace it with Crystfire Staff (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=24069) in Outland, it will easily last until then.

If you're feral, DON'T take the Grizzled Pelt. Mixologist's Tunic (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=12793), which drops in BRD, is much better. You'll be replacing the Pelt very quickly. Frankly I'd take the staff, as it sells for the most. >.<

In case you don't want to risk having the pool respawn in the middle of your battle with the guardian (this happened to my party and the spawns hit our healer so fast that the rest of us wiped in no time), when we came back, we did it the opposite way. We cleared upstairs first and then had someone activate all but the final statue, while the rest of the party jumped down to take on the mobs. Then, when the pool was clear, the last statue was activated and our last guy jumped down to take on the guardian. Easy after that.

To be honest, the rewards for the druid version of this quest are less than sterling. I was hoping for a useful trinket (as seems to be offered for all other classes), but instead we got easily replaceable items :(

Definetely not as great when compared to what a priest or mage is offered.

With the speedy leveling now, groups can sometimes be hard to come by. My druid never found a group for ST but I just came back and soloed this at lvl 60 wearing quest rewards from the early Outland quests.

I first went to the very bottom and cleared the pool where the Guardian spawned, then went up and only cleared the platforms with the statues. On platforms with two mobs, I was able to single pull (actually I just opened with pounce and the other mob never proximity agroed). Beware the large oozes will continuously pump out mini-oozes. Even in dire bear with good armor and hp these little jerks can do some damage.

Don't bother clearing the hallway but watch out for the Oozlings that patrol. Very easy to kill, one ravage and they were down, think I saw 3 on patrol.

Guardian can be stunned so I opened with pounce, and then went to town laying in the bleeds and then shift to bear and wear him down. Like someone said above, when he knocks you into the air, shift to cat to reduce the fall damage.

Of the three rewards, I would say that the Forest's Embrace is the most viable for any spec

Apparently you aren't aware that some Feral Druids will refuse to be in a group unless they can tank or do DPS, and some Balance Druids get annoyed when they aren't allowed to do what they're spec'd for (not to mention that many of them are sick of having to choose between f***ing HEALER Leather and MAGE gear to have any +spell damage).

First time he threw me up, I didnt expect it, and died.

Second time, got him to 50% HP, shadowmelded and regained HP/MP since I was just about dead.

Third time, I knew the tricks (third times the charm) So I charged him every time I was thrown up, and when I got low HP, I popped out of bear, healed up, and went back in. Didn't use any pots, but I did use lifeblood(rank 3) which is the heal from herbalism, I only used it to be sure I won, but I think I would have killed him without it.

Just gotta hope he doesn't fling you when your out of your form

solo'ed as a 50 nightelf boomkin in green/blue equipment.

- activate 5 statues in the correct order and vanish using the racial if you add mobs
- jump down and kill the 3 snakes. sleep one, root one, kill one
- activate the last statue and jump down again
- root the boss and kite him while you do low damage so that the roots don't break too early since he kills you in 3 seconds if you get in melee range

Solo'd as a lvl 50 kitty spec'd in BoA shoulders/dagger, and quest greens and bg blues.

Strategy:
In bear form, pull him over to one of the lower corners, hit him til you're at about half hp, Either natures grasp, or Entangling roots (Preferably Nature's grasp). Move back a few steps, Heal, and repeat. Innervate when low on mana. I popped an HP pot, but it wasn't really necessary, i just wasn't thinking.

In the end, fun times were had.

Solo'd this on my blah blah blah... wearing a mankini... blah blah blah.
Save it for vent.

Nearly impossible to do pugging this through the group finder, practically no one wants to do the statues, or they just bolt when a boss doesn't drop the loot they want. I recommend you get a guildie to run you through on their main, or get a core of guild players and join the group finder that way.
Saves having to group with idiots, and yes I am pissed off because I have just spent near three hours in there with possibly some of the stupidest players ever to grace the coffers of blizzard with their money.

Oh, and where the hell are these mythical statues supposed to be?

Retrieve a Putrid Vine from the guardian at the bottom of the Sunken Temple and return to Torwa Pathfinder.

	Putrid Vine (1)

Description

It is as I feared -- the toxin is simply too weak for such a powerful creature.

If we are to create a toxin of high enough potency, you must venture to the bottom of the Temple of Atal'Hakkar, unlock the secrets of the altar and recover a putrid vine from the guardian there. The temple is dangerous, and it would behoove you to bring friends.

Return to me when this is done.
