Hey! I need some help gatherin' crystals. The elementals trade top dollar for these things... if you help me gather all the different kinds, I'll cut you in on the profits.

Use these bombs to blow out chunks from the bigger formations.

I've got a nasty habit of packin' the explosives a bit thick. Mind the kick.

Note: The Deep Garnet Crystal is blown from the big, red, square blocks. They look nothing like the blue/purple/green boulders that you've previously looted.

The Deep Garnet is in the cave with the spider Amthea. The large red blocks on the side of the wall.

blue and purple are easy to find, just as you pass big worm that can eat you. white is found in left cave, in cave where there are lots of underground worms, with big white stones, and red is found in other side, where is named spider and red crystals around him.

This daily is not always available. When I got this the quest Lost In The Deeps was not available, so if you don't get that rush to the caves so you can get to rare spawn Shale Spider

It appears that there is a chance of either having this daily, Lost in the Deeps, or Beneath the Surface. If one of these is available one day, the others aren't.

I think some of the people here are thinking about the wrong rocks to blow up when it comes to this quest.

I made the same mistake at first, but the rocks you are looking for are not the spiky rubble that is on the floor, nor the ruins that resemble Greek pilars. But rather the very big blocks, that look like marble or something. They come in 4 colors:
- White in the first big room (Alabaster)
- Purple (Amethyst)
- Blue (Celestite)
- Red (Garnet)

Each big "room" in the cave contains one of the 4 blocks.

Also note, you can plant the bomb whilst mounted as it does not auto-dismount your character.

I'm having trouble finding this npc. I did all the quests and opened the therazene dailies and headed to the crumbling depths and there is NO npc there. I hear those dailies arn't available every day... Does he only spawn when those dailies are available?

I found the mini-map very useful in this quest. Throughout the network of tunnels are about 4 small cavernous rooms, but each room on the mini-map is shaded a slightly different colour.
One redish, one blueish, one greenish and one purpleish. These areas have the corresponding coloured rocks in them that you must blow up to collect the crystal chunks.
Hope this is of some help to people.

Want to get up a ledge with out going all the way around? Place your bomb away from the ledge, and place yourself right by the bomb being between the bomb and the ledge and BAM, instant shortcut.

The color of the shale spiders and the name of the shale spider hatchlings are related to the type of rock you will find in that area. Pretty easy to do when you look for that simple clue.

This quest is also notable as the only "intended" way to get the tiny shale spider companion pet. You have to use Rickets Ticker in order to reach Jadefang's (the rare elite which drops the pet) lair. Otherwise, if ur an engineer, you could resort to using the nitro boots until they malfunction and launch you up into the lair

So I was super frustrated as I'm a pet collector and haven't gotten Jadefang's contribution, which you get through obtaining this quest and using the item. So I went to go snag the quest, which I've never previously done, and haven't seen Ricket in a month. I'm exalted with Therazane so I was a little confused and was quickly becoming inpatient. I opened a ticket and here's what I got back:

"Thank you for reporting this issue to us. After an initial investigation, it appears that this is an issue we are aware of and are currently working to resolve as soon as possible. We do appreciate the information, as all reports we receive are added to the information we already have and help us to better find a resolution."

the red one is smooth and looks nothing like the others, it's in the room with that amthea thing, they are larger and smoother than others and have red glowing mushrooms around them

also the purple one is a really purple color, there is a light purple with sort of a bluish tint that is not it

they appear to be one type per "room" and i am not going to lie i am pretty high but i think the rooms glow different colors

Using the bombs provided by this quest is the “intended” way to access Jadefang who drops the companion pet Tiny Shale Spider. However there IS an alternate method for people like me who can’t manage to bomb themselves into the cave (Skip to #5 below). The following is the sum total of my research which I hope will help others to avoid the same frustrations I ran into:

Obtaining the Quest
Completing the Quest
Finding Jadefang
Using the bombs to get to Jadefang
Getting to Jadefang WITHOUT using the bombs or having this quest

1. Obtaining the Quest

This is a random daily which shares a slot with Lost in the Deeps* and Beneath the Surface. Only ONE of these three quests will be available on any given day.

* Pet collectors note that completing Lost in the Deeps 10 times awards the achievement Rock Lover and the companion pet Pebbles.

Unlike the rest of the dailies in this area, this quest is picked up INSIDE the Crumbling Depths from a goblin NPC named Ricket (56.0 14.2) who appears ONLY when the quest is available. The blue explanation point over her will NOT be visible on your mini-map until AFTER you enter the cave. You will not see it by doing a fly-by over the cave, which is what I did for weeks :D

The entrance to the Crumbling Depths is a glowing pink hole that you fly down into located just south of Therazane’s Throne at 59 25. (If you do not have coordinates, line yourself up on the map so that the “N” in the word Throne is directly north of you and the word “STAND” in Verlok Stand is directly east of you.)

2. Completing the Quest

From the quest giver, continue through the tunnels, staying to your left and cautiously approach the next intersection where the Colossal Gyreworm circles. While on your ground mount wait until the worm passes and follow immediately on its tail exiting at your second right which puts you into the large Central Room where the white Alabaster crystals are located. Place a bomb next to one of the larger crystals, stand back, then pick up 3 of the sparkling shards that will appear.

Positioning yourself in the southern-most part of the room facing north (but not TOO close to the circling Colossal Gyreworm) take the left tunnel, keeping to the right until you reach the next small room which contains the blue Celestite crystals. Continue bombing and collecting 3 sparkling shards of each color as you go.

Continue north into the next tunnel, again keeping to the right until you reach the small room containing the purple Amethyst crystals.

From there take the northeast tunnel to the small room containing the red Garnet crystals.

Take the southern-most tunnel, staying to your right, until you get to the ledge overlooking the large Central Room where you already found the white Alabaster crystals. Jump down.

If you are also after Jadefang, skip to the next section. If not, mount your ground mount and follow on the tail of the circling Colossal Gyreworm, exiting at your first right. Jump the small ledge and continue due west to the questgiver.

NOTE that if you get sucked into the Colossal Gyreworm’s coils you can “jump” free by hitting the spacebar.

3. Finding Jadefang

You will find Jadefang at 61.2 22.6 in the back of an elevated cave high on the west wall of the large Central Room which contains the white Alabaster crystals. (See 2. Completing the Quest above for directions to Central Room) Stand facing north on the floor of the Central Room and looking up, her cave is directly to the left of Pebble’s ledge. It is impossible to access her cave without assistance. She is tameable and when killed drops the companion pet Tiny Shale Spider. Her respawn rate appears to be 12 to 16 hours.

4. Using the bombs to get to Jadefang

Bomb Option #1 (Short jump from top of crystal): Use your ground mount to jump onto the dark green crystal under Jadefang’s ledge being very careful not to fall off behind it. Put your back to the ledge and drop a bomb.

Bomb Option #2 (Long jump from ground): Stand on the ground with your back to Jadefang’s ledge. Place a bomb in front of you, immediately turn around so that you are facing the ledge, count down from 3 and jump onto the ledge when the bomb explodes.

Bomb Option #3 (Jump from Pebble’s Ledge): Make your way to the adjoining ledge . Face Jadefang’s ledge, place a bomb next to you, count down from 3 and jump when the bomb explodes.

5. Getting to Jadefang WITHOUT using the bombs or having this quest

First familiarize yourself with the tunnels, the location of Jadefang, and shortest route (instead of going right at the circling worm, go left).

Disable all addons.

Hoover on your flying mount just inside the entrance – unplug your Ethernet cable just enough so that you disconnect from the internet but leaving the plug in place so that you can easily push it back in to reconnect

Immediately fly directly towards Jadefang’s ledge

Without stopping, reconnect to the internet just before you reach the large Central Room

Continue fling through the Central Room to land on Jadefang’s ledge.

It took me a couple of tries to get the timing just right – reconnect too soon and you drop before you get to Jadefang’s ledge, reconnect too late and you get disconnected from the server. If you are lucky, Jadefang will be there, if not, be prepared to camp or try again another time. I flew in just before signing off for the night, set my alarm for the wee hours of the morning and there she was.

What I wanted to know and found out myself:
As Underground Economy , Lost In The Deeps , and Beneath the Surface all require honored with Therazane and only one of them will show up each day, I thought maybe the two others wouldn't be offered if you kept one of them unfinished in your quest log.
However.
If you like me want to get the other daily quest Lost In The Deeps for the achievement Rock Lover while still try getting Jadefang, you can keep the quest Underground Economy and the Ricket's Tickers for as long as you want once you get it.
Lost In The Deeps will still show up even if you don't finish Underground Economy.
The quest giver for Underground Economy is available every day for when you want to finish it.
You might not want to pick up any crystal fragments at first when you get the quest, since abandoning them (for bag space) makes you abandon the quest. Now I'm stuck with four stacks of crystal in my bank until I see it's a day when Underground Economy is offered (when the other two aren't) so I can abandon and restart it.
