You can get them off the mobs found in Amani Catacombs. I assume other mobs drop them, but I done this quest while I was doing the Investigate the Amani Catacombs quest.

Also, dont forget to pick up the Escape from the Catacombs quest from the Blood Elf inside the cage in the "circle room"

Confirmed: They drop off the trolls at the Amani Catacombs (Entrance: 57, 27).

50% (approx) Drop Rate.

Above poster is right, wowhead info is wrong. The quest gives no Tranquilien nor any other rep. So for u grinding Tranquilien rep on ur twinks and avoiding exp, ignore this quest.

Fast respawns, AoE-on-death mobs, frequent patrols and close-pulls make this quest a bit tricky. Pair it with Investigate the Amani Catacombs, since they're both in the same spot. While you're in there, you should do Escape from the Catacombs, if you can. Go as fast as you can, and move away from Mummified Headhunters as they die- they put out an AoE poison cloud called Cloud of Disease. Headhunters don't run away in fear, but the Amani Oracles do, and this could pull more mobs if you dont kill them quickly.

I did this quest with a level 58 DK and didn't get an item as reward. Only some silver. But no Maltendis' Handguards. Perhaps I'll try it when levelling a paladin but I was kinda not amused. Levelled a DK just to get the appearance for my alliance pally.

for anyone whom doesn't play horde,save yourself some time,and make a trial character,in my case i wanted the plate gloves from this quest,so this is how i did it,i made a blood elf warrior trial,when i got to this quest i was confused cause it didn't display the rewards when i interacted with it,so i tested it and i got them with this method;
"maltendis' Handguards" added into my wardrobe,so TL;DR basically avoid making a deathknight and just use class trial characters for transmog pieces that are locked behind horde only quests.

You now take this quest from Apothecary Venustus in Farstrider Enclave Ghostlands same with the Quest Investigate the Amani Catacombs wich you take from Ranger Vynna.

Nobody posted the requirements so here you go: pick up The Forsaken at Tranquillien, which upon completion will open up several quests. Grab Help Ranger Valanna! from nearby NPC Ranger Lethvalin (no need to do the others), do the follow-ups Dealing with Zeb'Sora and Report to Captain Helios and this quest will open up in Farstrider Enclave.

As others have already mentioned, Wowhead is wrong and this quest is given by Apothecary Venustus, not Deathstalker Maltendis.

Description

The corpses of trolls buried inside the Amani Catacombs have been rising from the dead! I want you to go there and bring back proof of their final demise. Some of these mummy trolls, and their living counterparts, carry juju; glowing objects that house an unknown power source. It's probably what is animating them!

The catacombs lie within Sungraze Peak, directly to the east. I am told that the easiest way in lies on the north face of the mountain. See to it, <class>!
