When Razza appears in the arena he yells "Can that be the Razza down there in the Maul? This is going to be exciting!"

I tried taking Razza on by myself as a 66 Hunter, not possible one bit.

He says different things, depending on which rare boss spawns.
The boss itself is soloable by several level 70 classes (paladin, warlock, shadow priest, mage), using a few smart kiting abilities.

The boss will teleport you to the center if you run to the outside of the ring. For a Warlock, this means you can DoT him, run to the outside, he'll teleport you back and gives you time to drain life. For a paladin, this gives you time to heal.

Bring pots and probably buffs, the fight only lasts 3-5 minutes, but it's tough.

Both bosses are soloable by a holy paladin. Admittedly, I have above average gear (mostly T5, some T6), however the concept could be executed by a pally entering Kara. I haven't yet seen Moshgog (sp), so I don't know how exactly he'd factor into the equation.

*Concentration Aura on at all times (saves GCD for emergency heals and dps). If you want to risk it, use Ret Aura/Sanc Aura (if shockadin).
*Full healing gear on. Keys to this fight are mana regen and +damage, so a +heal/+mp5 set are ideal, though most pallies will have decent amount of boths on their healing gear anyway.

Basically, with your healing mace and shield equipped, start by judging wisdom, and sealing righteousness. Spam rank 1 consecration as with as little as ~500 spell dmg this will increase your dps by a constant ~45 odd, for the low cost of 120 mana. Judge righteousness at every opportunity, as well as Holy Shocking at every chance. Heal when necessary - a few Flashes of Light will get you back to feel at a lower mana cost, but I personally prefer to Holy Light when at ~50% to decrease my time not dpsing.

So in regards to dpsing the boss, it can take a short while, but it's pretty much lather, rinse, repeat.

HOWEVER, unless absolutely necessary, save both your bubbles. If you're a holy/prot pally you'll have a 3 min cd for BoP, which is important to note.

If another player enters the arena, first see how they act. Sometimes they dps the boss (ie. a lock laying up dots), assuming that once they've killed you, they'll have done enough damage to the boss to get it down quickly. Other times, they go straight for you to get you out of the way. It's rare, but I'd imagine occasionally you'd get someone that would purely help you.

In any case, once they start attacking you - do some damage to them, making sure that between their damage and the boss, you stay alive through healing (be wary of shamans, mages and rogues due to their effective spell counters - however, all three are fairly suseptible when under fire from the boss). When they start to get a bit low - bubble, making sure to use BoP if it has the shorter cooldown. The boss temporarily drops aggro on you, and goes to them, thus helping dps them. Get yourself up to full health, then try to burn them down. If they stay up through this, try and burn them down even when the boss returns to you. Worse case scenario, keep yourself up through the forebearance, and keep bubbling (with the reduced cd on BoP, you should go BoP, DS, 1 round without bubble, BoP).

I could imagine that this strat may have trouble against healing specced healing classes. But then, they would hardly have the dps to burn you down quickly.

He is also soloable by an enhancement shaman, don't suck.

Pull him far from the middle with a lightning bolt, have earth elemental tank him, heal yourself after teleports, grounding eats lightning, cleanse the poison and collect your boe blues

Actually i soloed both of em as resto shammy and my gear isn't even good, only two epics...
Took 15 minutes though...

I tried with my 70 hunter...but my pet couldn't handle Skarr's hits, and died too quick. I tried twice, till someone else showed up and took him. Didn't have a plan....so I suggest you get one, which like others have said, is to kite him to the side so when he teleports you back to the middle, there is time to heal.

I have been using my 70 feral druid recently, and it couldn't be more different. Both Skarr and Razza are down in a minute or two, with me still at 80% health. I didn't event need to move them to the side.

Just remember that you can be attacked my members of the same faction whilst on the arena floor.

The worst part is the waiting...!

I have read that either Skarr or Razza (an even rarer 3rd too, but I don't know the name) will spawn every 4, 6 or 8 hours from the last kill, but also +/- 20 minutes, which is quite a window. Of course, only Skarr drops the Orb of Deception.

Alas, as of the latest patch, Griniblix has been banished from Dire Maul and can now be found southeast of Camp Mojache in Feralas.

Swing by and talk to him some time, his dialog is a nice touch I think. Even giving you tips on hunting those two rares, which is handy. A little bit of NPC flavour dialog goes a long way.

Although Griniblix is no longer watching the fights in the Dire Maul arena, he's still keeping tabs on a couple of the former challengers:

The excitement of the crowd, the thrill of the fight - you should have seen it! Ever since those ogres took control of the Dire Maul arena, I've been forced to camp out here. Griniblix the Spectator - ha! Spectator of what? This campfire? That shrub? Or how about this odd purple tree?

Listen, if you're looking for a fight, Skarr was headed towards the Lariss Pavilion, and The Razza was soaring in the direction of New Thalanaar. Just be sure to let me in on the betting before the bloodbath begins!
