Its actually a response to JJs first big budget movie Armageddon, which Abrams wrote the screenplay for.
Didnt Kill bill come out after Vanilla wow? which is when the Hanzo sword was introduced?

Missed this homage to EverQuest - Furor, a former EQ player, left to join the WoW dev team around 10 years ago.Nostro's Compendium of Dragon Slaying...hide under a ledge or a bridge, if one is available to you. A good strong wall is also a safe bet.<More faded text.>Use c p e heal, between five and fifteen c er cs.<More faded text.>At the end of a successful raid, sit back and take in the victory. After a solid ten to fifteen seconds, proceed to town and display your p t l wt for all to see and worship.<A glance at the rest of the compendium leaves you with a headache.>That's a reference to the complete heal chains which were used for early raids. And yes, they really did require 5 to 15 clerics chain casting it! There's also a reference to "phat lewt"... there was an NPC who would instakill you if you asked for "phat lewt" and I bet it's a nod to that.
Great guide, would love to see more of this!
is Serenity Belt to vague to add to Firefly?
Also the Hair Trigger and Walnut Stock that you make almost every gun out of is a reference to the Mark "S" Boomstick. This is my BOOMSTICK!One could also argue that Cobalt Ore being blue is a reference because the line is "...Cobalt Blue Steel".
Also, Eternium Ore is an ore that Trap-Jaw eats to gain invincibility in the episode "Double Edge Sword" in the original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.
I forgot another oneTop Gun: on netherwing island in BCWing Commander Ichman and Wing Commander Mulverickand for everyone thinking that Hanzo Sword is a reference to movie kill bill...have to tell ya, but that sword was out in vanilla which was before kill bill. sorry to disappoint yall
haha awesome!
we cant forget Indiana Jones too! *if anyone else posted this already sorry for repeating...just too lazy to scroll through and read EVERY comment :D*
There's also a mob in The Jade Forest by the name of Jack Arrow with the Title "Alliance Captain - Pirates of the Caribean reference.
What about all the Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones references? http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/6297751261
you have have a fairly obvious reference under food and drink Dos Ogris and it's for the most interesting players in the realms
Back from vacation! Adding a few more items in, but be sure to check out our other items guide for comics, literature, poetry, and music references. Game of Thrones/ASOIAF references have been brought up a lot in the comments--Syrio's gloves and many more related items are covered there :)Aiming to get a list of achievements up this weekend, and then take a look at player/Blizzard staff references (like Foror above). Quests and NPCs will follow in the future--I appreciate all the suggestions to add them and I'll make sure they're in future posts, but they're not meant for this particular post! I know some people think I'm repeating myself when I say this covers only items (and to check the followup blog for more), but I keep getting comments from new readers that I 'forgot' an NPC or quest even though they're not meant to be here.
I missed this one in-game and i love the movie!Gladiator's Greatsword: "Finely crafted to Proximo's specification"
The Zeppelin from Org to Borean Tundra is named The Mighty Wind, maybe after the movie A Mighty Wind http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0310281/?ref_=nv_sr_1
I thought of another one. The NPC named "Jack Arrow" in Jade Forest is a reference to Pirates Of The Caribbean.
now they just need to add something from the big bang theory you ask why their show always makes reference to world of warcraft
