Looks like a well balanced set to start tanking in the end-game isntances. Although a bit less strenght and a bit more agility might be more suitable for tanking gear.

If it's not clear already, this set is designed for Warriors; Righteous for Pallies and Doomplate is the "universal" plate set that can apply to either class wanting something different.

This set is kinda of disappointing in terms of stats and set bonuses, except for the good amount of gem slots; its not good. There are better alternatives in my opinion to most pieces of this set, which i will be collecting. I'll use the shoulders till i get better shoulders in heroic mode.

The set bonuses are utter rubbish, but the items themselves are fairly solid tanking gear, if very replacable (especially the legs).

Good if you've got them at the right time (i.e. been lucky with the drops), but not worth really stressing about.

the 3pieces conqueror set bonus must be the, not so complete, crap. I mean, 35% cheaper shouts, it's not like u can stacks those 2 for an even cheaper shout right. of course things like piercing howl aren't considered a shout, and that reducing rage cost is a crappy thing. and u r probably right, charge should never be used under any circumstances, it's not like the rage gain, btw 1rage = 5aggro, is really going to help.

improvement to abilities that u don't consider useful for urself doesn't mean the improvements are useless, nor does it state the abilities useless simply bcuz one does not use those abilities.
I don't believe this is a poor set nor poor set bonus, but if one wants better things, he could always try to get the higher tier items/sets for better stats and different bonus.
when sone1 gives u a dollar, don't complain that the bill is wrinkled.

Dont underestimate the pure value of rage. Shure if everything goes sooth you will have plenty or rage during a fight. But every tank knows that not everything goes by the book with pugs and what not. 1-2 extra rage can turn the tide in a battle. Instead of waiting for the next melee hit to give you the rage your missing (or hit against you) you might have saved it thanks to this set. Considering that most shouts costs 10 rage -2 rage is alot. Based on a % scale. Also take a look at the warrior talents they all focus around small amounts of rage here and there. After a while it stacks up.

This set is designed to be all-around and should be valued as sutch aswell. This set provides with some decent stats for everything.
Grinding, tanking and dps.

IMO the only tanking set that realy improved the warrior "tanking" was good ol Might.

i find this kinda Unfair.. All the other dungeon set 3 (not Doomplate type) drop off of pre-bosses but Bold drops of last bosses so u need to do a full clear to get the armor..

What's all this about this set only working for tanking? This gear would make a beautiful PvP set, imo: it has great stamina, armor, defense, and stats all around. With the addition of some DPS style gems, this is insane PvP gear.

AND... it's much easier to get than most of the Doomplate stuff, which mainly comes from Heroics.

How long did it take you guys to get this set? I have been going at it for about a weeks now running each of the instances once a day so ttalling 5 runs a day sometimes only 4, and i have only the Chest plate that drops from Harbringer Skyriss in Arcatraz to show for it. does this sound normal? or is this just bad luck?

i got it in 3 days. i was getting 1 week off work so i played and got this in 3 days ( it took. 1 arca 3 SV 2 SL *one group was alrdy on Murmur* 2 Botanica, *same as SL one group on boss* 2 BM *1 group had cleared the unelite beasts*)
SV has worst drop rate i think, but it also is easiest + shortest outta all
Shadow Labs in longest one outta all TOO MUCH TRASH MORE BOSS!
Botanica took a while but it was pretty straightforward
Arcatraz is 2nd hardest but it was pretty fun
Black Morass was hardest i went through 5 groups only 2 killed Aeonus he dropped it first and second time.
Not Sure if this was luck or something else

My take on this set.

1) Set bonuses. Well, the first bonus is nice, 5 rage for Demoralizing shout and 13 rage for Thunderclap (got Improved TC) is quite good. However the second bonus is a bit odd for tanking gear. At least I personally don't really leave defensive stance when I'm tanking, so I don't really use Charge - heck, ranged pulls are the way to go most of the time anyway. And I don't pick Tactical Mastery for just those reasons. I'm sure some find use for this, but personally I'd rather have some other ability with more practicality in tanking. Like a chance for extra rage when blocking, for example.

2) Compared to non-set blues some individual parts might not be 100% as good as what you can get as non-set drops. However at least for me personally this is more than made up for by the uniform style of the set, and the set looks good (with the exception of the helmet, but that can always be "hidden"). I don't like running around looking like a cucumber salad :) But in the end I find the difference between the legs (which seem to be disliked the most) and the much-praised Legguards of the Resolute Defender rather small overall. The bold legs have improved threat generation but lose a bit on avoidance. Given what I said above I prefer the set legs. Obviously LotRD are a lot easier to get though.

This is my favorite armor set for warrior. There needs to be more like this, shoulders could be bigger tho, also the healm could be better to lol.

The Tauren pictured above isn't wearing the Helm, even though the tag on the image says "Full Bold Armor set". He is also wearing a Belt which isn't part of the set or part of the graphics.

this set is pretty bad compared to other tanking peices you can get. the only real tanking upgrade in this set is the shoulders. The felsteel set imo is superior to the gloves helm and legs in this set. Not to mention the set bonus' are horrible for a tank. If your a good tank, rage isn't gonna be a problem. It's funny how many people that aren't tanks posted on this set.

For the people who hate on the stats: Bold Armor is a great set for tanking 5-mans, either normal or heroic, or for the 2nd tank in Karazhan. Those who say that "rage isn't an issue for tanks" just don't know how to dump it fast enough. You can never have too much rage or threat; you can't spend too much rage.

The shoulders are possibly the hardest to get out of the entire set. It took me about a month, to get them off murmur.

The "bold armor" set is possibly the best set you can grab before heading into karazhan.

my warrior,shuned. Has 4 out of 5 because Tankatronic Goggles goggles take place of the helmet.

Do Not Socket this armor with defence gems, Go full stamina. Your gear should provide you with enough defence(over 490) so you can begin stacking Stam.

IF you're not a blacksmith,or engineer get this set. You'll run heroics like a breeze, you'll laugh in the face of normal instances. and you wont be second rated in raiding for your guild.

Also in various Heroics there are items to complete the set.

I recommend Doing heroic Ramps for the bracers(or Steam vaults...not recommended for novices) and belt, and heroic blood furnance for the boots. theyre very good stated also.

The Set Bonus is really great,atleast the rage is. 8 rage for commanding shout, so its 1 hit rather than 2

Combined with the new charge enhancing talents Imp Charge your charges can generate 30 rage even in battle every 15 secs without even mentioning new inscription enhancements....Mark my words Charge is gonna become one of the protection warrior's most spammed spells, and prolly the reason they can start PvPing in TLK

I have a compiled a list of what I believe to be the perfect tanking set pre-raid tanking set.
Note: You have to be a Sword smith to get the sword, and I know there's better shields, but you get it from a quest FFS.

Currently, there is a texture bug on the Helm of this set, Its a dull grey instead of the intended blue/gold color, beyond that, a very pretty set. Supposedly, this is a bug and not intended, but who knows if/when it will be fixed. The same is also true of the Savage Plate recolor Savage Plate Helm.

EDIT: This bug seems to have been fixed for both the Helm mentioned and its recolors.
