Patch 5.0.3 added in the Song of Harmony to use Spirit of Harmony to bypass the daily cooldown to create addition Imperial Silk. Now there are two methods to create it:

Imperial Silk - Consumes the daily cooldown and 8 Bolt of Windwool Cloth
Song of Harmony - 5 Bolt of Windwool Cloth and 3 Spirit of Harmony and ignores the daily cooldown

This is similar to the changes for alchemy and inscription for Living Steel and Darkmoon cards, respectively.

In order to craft the silk, you'll need to be in the Silken Fields of the Valley of the Four Winds.

The Silken Fields is in the center of Valley of the Four Winds (62,58). You can safely get there with a level 80 as long as you can safely get to Pandaria first.

Not true, you need Spirits to buy the high end Tailoring patterns in Shrine of Two Moons.

Coming in 5.1!

Doing your daily cooldown will have a chance to create bonus companion pets! The pets available will be either Imperial Moth or Imperial Silkworm. One of them is an Imperial Moth which seems almost like a reskin of Blue Moth, but from the screenshots ive seen i believe its a model new to the pets system. The other possibility is an Imperial Silkworm which looks like a smaller version of Mutated Silkworm.

NEW: The vessel from which you will get either of these will be a Silkworm Cocoon, this is always created while doing your daily imperial silk cooldown and has a chance to contain one of them, along with always containing a piece of silk.

If, like me, you have a level 80 toon for tailoring, you have several ways of getting to the Silken Fields :

> Getting a Warlock friend to Summon you there.
You'll need to find an available warlock, and two other people ready to help you out and teleport you. If you have friends, this is the easiest way.

> Getting a Mage to make you a portal to Valley of Eternal Blossoms.
As far as I know, there is no way for you to leave the Valley of Eternal Blossoms at level 80. You'll need a friend with a flying mount with an extra seat to carry you to Silken Fields.

Once you effectively are there, you either need to stay put for your daily Imperial Silk, or you'll want to go back and forth from Orgrimmar or Stormwind. If you want to go back and forth, since you can't take the normal Pandaria portal, you'll have to set your hearthstone to Halfhill, near the Silken Fields, and you'll want to use one of the guild rewards to teleport back to your Capital city.

The easiest one is the 4 hour cooldown item, that requires you to be honored with a level 15 guild :
Wrap of Unity (Alliance)
Wrap of Unity (Horde)

Additionally, considering Imperial Silk is soulbound, you will not be able to craft any of the items that require reputation, as long as your toon is not level 90. The way around this are the following items, for which the patterns can be bought at the Auction House when available :
Pattern: Robe of Eternal Rule
Pattern: Imperial Silk Gloves
Pattern: Legacy of the Emperor
Pattern: Touch of the Light

However, it should be noted that these patterns are expensive, and require the equally expensive Blood Spirit.

Let's not stack them more than 20 because bag space is not a problem in 5.0.5..... I have 25 imperials already and it's frustrating to see that my bag space is getting lower and lower with all the turnips, meats, bug zappers and everything.

Probably i'll switch to 28 slot bags (which are seriously too hard to make req. 12 cloth) if they don't add new recipies in 5.1 for tailoring.

For Horde, you port in to Honeydew Village. If you want the flight path between there and Halfhill, you need to pick up the flight points in Dawn's Blossom and Pang's Stead on your way.

I don't know if its because of the latest patch 5.1, but today when I tried to create my daily Imperial silk it came up with the message "You have too many of that item already".

Maybe blizz added a cap of 20 with the latest patch, because i have 23 in my bag and that seems like a odd number to cap it at..

It seems that a change was made to the crafting process for this item. If you are getting an error telling you that you have too many of this item, check your bags for Silkworm Cocoon. These are now created and contain the silk, instead of crafting the silk directly. The icon is identical to Boiled Silkworm Pupa.

Can anyone please tell me what they sell theirs for?
I currently have only the 476 patterns and am not sure how much the silk is worth.
I've seen people advertising asking 1k per cloth, but I've also seen people asking 1k per Spirit of Harmony and highly doubt that they are still selling for that much (with the exception of 496 items which would make sense.)
So, in summation, should I charge between 500-750g per silk where someone with 496 patterns might charge 1k or is no one even charging that much anymore?

A useful tip for those who have developed a full farm with The Tillers, farming Mote of Harmony by planting Songbell Seeds will yield a guaranteed 1.6 Spirit of Harmony per day. This means an additional Imperial Silk can be made every two days (with enough windwool) using Song of Harmony.

If you assume that one maximizes farming of Mote of Harmony every day, has all the necessary Windwool Cloth, and a pessimistic scenario where one received absolutely zero Mote of Harmony from dropped loot, it is possible to guarantee the creation of 1.6 Imperial Silk every day (or 8 Imperial Silk every 5 days).

Royal Satchel requires 12 Imperial Silk. This means that if one takes in the aforementioned assumptions, one could guarantee a Royal Satchel every 8 days. If one were to loot an additional 15 Mote of Harmony within 7 days, one could guarantee a Royal Satchel every 7 days.

My point is that people always want bigger bags! Make it rain Tailoring!

You now can get new random recipe by crafting it, so do this every day until u'll have nothing more to study from the list of items that u can get from it :)
also when you craft then u somtimes get a pet too.

I now know (36) "Crafted" and (4) Falling Blossom patterns and the past two days making imperial silk since, I have learned no further patterns. I've categorized the # of patterns by slots below.

"CRAFTED"
(4) hats & hoods
(4) shoulders
(4) robes & tunics
(3) bracers
(3) belts
(4) gloves
(4) pants
(3) boots
(7) cloaks

FALLING BLOSSOM
(2) hats & hoods
(2) boots

I believe this Tailoring List has itemized each of these for more details (plus some non-discovery patterns learned at quartermasters, trainers, random drops, etc).

If I've left anything out please share!

I am a warlock tailor, and every day I use this, I learn one of the Crafted Dreadful set, but everytime (4 times now) it's for mages only. What's going on here?

I just looted 1 of these from the golden chests in Guo Lai halls.. Might have been added in 5.4 because i'd never seen 1 in those chests before then. The keys for the chests are also far more common drops than pre 5.4.

To create one Imperial Silk the Tailor can use the Materials-patterns Imperial Silk(550/600) or Song of Harmony(560/600).

The Requires: Silken Fields in those patterns is a zone requirement.
You need to be in the sub-zone Silken Fields of Valley of the Four Winds. The next Flightmaster is Wing Nga

The pattern Imperial Silk creates the Silkworm Cocoon, that always contain exactly one Imperial Silk (and sometimes the companion Imperial Silkworm or Imperial Moth)

With the launch of Draenor, the spell to create this item will no longer require you to be in the Silken Fields.

As of 6.0.2, you no longer need to be in the Silken Fields to create Imperial Silk with Imperial Silk but still a requirement when using Song of Harmony.

As of Patch 6.0.3, thankfully Blizzard has changed it so one no longer needs to be in the Silken Fields neither for creating Imperial Silk nor Song of Harmony. Whew!

Both can now be created wherever in the world you are!
