Seems to be an heirloom version of Finkle's Lava Dredger. "Repurposed" is right, the old one was a healer mace, just about as far as you can get from a melee weapon.

Cruzh, if you haven't seen all the other Heirlooms in the game, the stats scale with level. So you don't have 28AP at level 80, it gets higher as your level gets higher.

You can tell from the Druid " feral tooltip" that this weapon grants 434 attack power, which is very minimal when compared to weapons at level 80.

It's obvious that this isn't actually scaled to level 80 even though the item seems so.

As a side-note, I'm so happy that blizzard decided to "Repurpose" our beloved Finkle's Lava Dredger. That weapon was unique and had a certain sentimental value from Molten Core vanilla wow days.

EDIT: To those people not understanding how Feral Attack Power works/calculated:

All weapons with more than 54.8 DPS grant druids feral attack power. No weapon has a specific bonus to feral attack power...

All druids will see the amount of feral attack power granted by an item in the item tooltip, if it grants any.

The formula for calculating feral attack power is:

FAP = (D - 54.8) * 14

where D = Weapon DPS

Am i the only one trying to figure out if the armor pen at lvl 1 is correct? 14 ArP at lvl 1 according to the tool tip is roughly 97%. If that's the case i'll pick one up for my paladin.

Out of curiosity, can anyone confirm the exact cost of this item. I believe its going to cost Emblems of Heroism, which will have to be downgraded from Conquest. I'm guessing its gonna be around 65 EoH. Never thought I was gonna bring myself to be able to turn conquest emblems into Heroism, but I guess since its possible to farm over 35 a day its no big deal. This thing better kick some serious ass.

Anyone know if this grants Feral Attack Power pre-60? As far as I know only weapons lvl 60 and above grant Feral Attack Power, anything below simply grants standard stats to feral druids.

Unless they changed this in 3.2, Heirlooms are always considered level 1 for the purposes of enchanting, so no, you could not.

they are bound to faction/realm. If you are alliance 80 and sending it to an alt, that alt must also be alliance and on the same server as the 80. You can transfer your character AFTER you send the Heirloom, but not before, and never across factions.

My main character is a palidan, so i can't see the hidden feral stats on any of the items. I have read that almost everyone says how its great for feral druids but which BoA items are the best right now. Is this the best weapon?

Kind of odd that they went with a mace instead of a staff or polearm for this one. A fast 2H mace with agi and AP is really only going to be put to good effect by ferals, the ArPen has some appeal for Warriors, but the wep's so fast that they'd still be better off with the BAR. It would have made much more sense to make it a polearm, just so hunters (who also use these stats) would get something out of it. Making one more or less just for ferals is really kinda silly, especially since ferals really don't benefit much from heirloom weps (prior to 60, their DPS scales with level already. Once you hit Outland, weapon upgrades are common enough that the heirloom isn't necessary. The scaling stats are nice, but nothing huge).

Ah well, not like it's gonna change now.

For any feral druids considering this item, it's worth noting that this item first has enough dps to grant feral attack power at level 58; at level 58, this item has 65 dps, and grants 143 feral attack power.

very nice, as you start getting a huge boost in your AP as you enter outland :)

But looks something that comes out of gnomeregan (and droods don´t come from there)
Would suit Goblin/Gnome warrior from looks, certainly not druids! (in my opinnion)

Regardless of this fact, slower weapons still provide more damage to normalized instant attacks. Because normalized instant attacks are still based on weapon damage, there is still a higher base weapon damage used in the equation.

normalized_damage = base_weapon_damage + (X * Attack Power / 14)

where X is based on the weapon type.

So, the important thing here is that while attack power does not scale with weapon speed (which is what normalization was intended to fix such that faster weapons of higher dps generally provided more dps), a slow weapon still provides more base damage on the attack. This is not quite as important while in a raid setting where base damage pales in comparison to attack power; however while leveling a character the base weapon damage is not to be underestimated in this equation and a 2.90 speed weapon will be significantly lower in dps than the 3.80 speed Bloodied Arcanite Reaper

TL;DR: If you want to level a paladin, warrior, or deathknight go for the axe. Windfury weapon and Stormstrike are NOT normalized, so there shouldn't be any excuse for using a fast weapon as a shaman.

Intelligence does indeed hurt.

If you're using this, you're going feral, in which you spend alot of time in Cat Form, since that has a swing timer of 1 second, and Crusader being calculated of your swing speed, 25+ agility is more beneficial, I think.

As I was in two minds about which enchant to go for myself, I thought I'd make a list of the pros and cons of each enchant:

+25 agility

A boost to attack power, useful in cat form for a damage boost, and useful in bear form for threat, seeing as such spells as Swipe damage are modified by attack power.
A relatively large amount of crit, good for damage in cat and threat in bear form. The bonus of this will decrease as you level up, due to more agility being needed to gain the same percentage chance to crit, but still a useful boost.
A relatively large chance to dodge attacks. This is of course mostly useful in Bear Form while tanking, but could prove useful in cat form while leveling for less damage taken, meaning less downtime.
As it's not a proc, the effects are constant and never wasted, whereas Crusader may only proc at the end of a fight.

Crusader

A chance to gain a heal of 75 to 125. Useful as a cat if you ever find yourself off tanking some trash in an instance, and useful while questing or grinding to reduce downtime. Useful as a bear to either help the healer, or possibly save you if the healer dies, runs oom, or is perhaps not quite proficient at playing their class. This effect, as with the 25 agility enchant, becomes less powerful in relation to your health as you level, but remains a nice effect all the same.
A chance to gain 100 strength for 15 seconds. Useful as a cat for the attack power meaning more damage, and useful as a bear for the extra threat (although the usefullness of this as a tanking stat for druids is diminished by it not providing avoidance like the agility does, and not providing the mitigation it does to warriors and paladins who gain block value). This effect becomes less of a 15-second period in which you can annihilate mobs, to a general damage boost as you level closer to the level that your were first expected to have the enchant at, which is around 60.
As a proc, it may often be wasted, or not happen at the optimal time.
This effect is lessened as your character levels past 60, meaning you'll be getting less strength per proc and less healing. This, coupled with the large boosts to stats you will get upon attaining outland/northrend gear, makes this enchant very lack lustre past level 60.

Conclusion

As you can see, the +25 agility appears to be the most beneficial, and this is the reason I chose it over Crusader. However, Crusader is probably better for druid tanks than the agility, as the heal I imagine would make up for the loss of dodge, and the strength proc will more than make up for any threat bonus granted from the agility.
Despite this, I would still recommend the agility to any feral druid who will be tanking only part of the time. Unless you will be leveling by only or mainly tanking instances, then the 25 agility will make up for its lesser bonus to tanking by greatly boosting your damage while in cat form.

Anywho, for those hunters who prefer two-handers over those puny little daggers, i've put together a little list of what i did with my hunter to compensate for the lack of usefull heirloom hunter two-handers

levels 15-24 i went with Boahn's Fang with a +25 agility enchant that i managed to nab of the auction house for around 100g (axe already enchanted)
Not the best of Blues, but it should last you for around 9 levels, which is all thats needed. the +25 agility is whats important. you'd probably be better off going with some green with "Of agility" or "Of the monkey"

Levels 24-40/45 i went with Armor Piercer again with a +25 agility enchant. I've yet to run Razorfen Kraul without this item dropping, so one run will do just fine.
Armour Peircer is an amazing hunter weapon, and with a +25 agility enchant it'll last you at least until 40 to 45. If you're on a relatively low budget (Or grimloks Charge refuses to drop for you) its perfectly acceptable to keep this weapon until outland as their simply isnt another weapon with as much agility thats as easy to get.

Levels 40/45 - 65 I went with Grimlok's Charge with (gasp!) Savagery.
This weapon is great, but a bit hard to get. Uldaman has got a lot easier to run with the addition of the dungeon finder tool, so it shouldent be too difficult, but be prepared to spend a few levels with your trusty armour piercer. Grimlok also drops Oilskin Leggings which are a nice sidegrade from Triprunner Dungarees should you have been lucky enough to pick them up.

Levels 65 -70/71 i went with Adamantite Cleaver with Greater Savagery (85 ap) enchant on it.
This weapon should nearly always be on your servers AH. if its not, contact a BS and ask him for a link to the mats. its a very easy axe to make, and is a beautiful hunter weapon.

Levels 70/71 - 80 i went with http://www.wowhead.com/item=37461#sold-by with an 85 Ap enchant on it.
This weapons a bit of a grind to get, but much easier(and better) than its previous incarnation. it only requires 50 clams, and so should be relatively easy to get. however, if you're lazy you can just go with http://www.wowhead.com/item=35870#reward-from-q which is a bit easier to get (though i think is worse).

Congratulations! You just leveled your hunter to 80 without the use of puny and expensive heirloom daggers! shake your rear at those silly people who would spend 80 emblems on daggers.

Minor annoyance: This item was clearly designed to fill the niche in heirloom items for baby ferals, yet a young druid does not start with the 2H mace skill and must go to train it.

Any baby druid with access to this will likely have enough gold to easily train the skill right away, and will be having to do a bit of travel to go to a mailbox to get it anyway but still, a bit annoying that they didn't make it a staff or something that we don't have to run all the way to TB/IF (the Alliance one has it a bit tougher for fledgling night elves!) for. Plus, if it was a staff, it would also be useful for baby hunters!

Also please note I am not saying this item is not also acceptable for baby warriors, paladins, DKs, shamans, etc. But these classes all had items they could use for heirlooms prior to this item's late introduction.

Just kind of an odd graphic note, when you hold this weapon you see the neat spinning thing on the handle, the giant spinning main cog and the twisting end of what looks like a key in between on the side
when you sheath this weapon on your back, the twisting end goes into your back... ouch

Why on earth has the cost of heirlooms skyrocketed in patch 4.0.1? They used to cost a large number of Emblems of Heroism which took a while to amass any excess of other badges to convert. Now with only a month or so to go before Cata release when people have little to do other than level alts, they suddenly cost at least 4x more than before!

The justification given is that at 85 we will miraculously be earning so many points that level 80 items become supercheap. Except I fail to see what possible justification or relevance this has to a level 80 trying to purchase level 80 items who does not own the Cataclysm expansion and furthermore Cataclysm is still many weeks away from release!

Its even more unfair to those who had been stockpiling badges to use for heirlooms and were just short of them before purchase.

How come I cant see the Attack Power in game? This is patch 4.03, and my druid is level 62, but there is no Attack Power on my Repurposed Lava Dredger. Have it been removed from Heirlooms in Cataclysm or something? Maybe it have just been hidden or something? Or do Druid's damage actually scale with the DPS on the weapons they use? I haven't paid much attention to the Druid changes in Cata...

So when equipping this, the +15 fire resistance shows up on the item, but not displayed in stats.

- Does anyone know at what level the +15 fire resistance becomes active?
- Or is it active all the time, and thats just a glitch?

Tooltip displays +15 Fire resistance but if you check your character pane you get none. And yes I did removed any other buffs that gave me resistances to verify if it was a stacking issue but nope, no resistance at all.

I just read through all these comments and I am fascinated!

No one else seems to have noticed just how ridiculous this weapon is, considering it was made as the only feral Druid heirloom and it resembles something mechanical, when druids are supposed to be conduits of nature.

This weapon embodies everything that druids are not. I was really looking forward to a druid alt soon, however now I am stuck as I loathe this weapon, to me it is not even a choice for my druid, yet feral relies heavily on weapon damage and stats.

What now?

When paired with an Iron Counterweight, this mace works surprisingly well for a level 10 Holy Paladin haste-stacking twink. You can get 90%+ Haste with this combo and the glove Haste enchant, which translates to 1.1 second Holy Light casts.

Unfortunately, all that Haste starts going away at level 11. But it's really, really nice while it lasts.

As of 5.2, the Level 80 Heirloom weapons and armor can be upgraded to scale up to level 85

Cost is the original item and either Darkmoon Faire Prize Tickets, JP (for heirlooms purchasable with JP) or Honor (for PvP itemized heirlooms purchased with honor)

This item is not worth buying anymore, you can just buy Burnished Warden Staff for feral/guardian druids and brewmaster/windwalk monks instead since this mace can't be used by monks.

As of 5.4 you can now use all weapon enchants. At lower levels enchants scale down for the content a player will be going through so high level enchants will not be broken for pve and pvp content alike.
