You get these every now and then by fishing in various schools of fish in Northrend. I've only ever recieved one from regular fishing though, so whilst it may be possible to get them from random spots of water, if you're planning on 'farming' these for ores or whatever, run up and down the river/ocean for schools and grab them from there.

In short, they work just like the crates from Outland.

I fish quite a lot in Howling Fjord, for the Pygmy Suckerfish. I don't fish in pools because I like watching a movie on the television at the same time. If I did i would move quite a lot and pay way more attention to WoW than I want to ;)

Nevertheless; I have fished up quite a lot of these. My guess would be around 50 of them so far, from open water. Every single one of them had cloth within. And I'm a tailor. I can't see any other reason for this, than if your a miner, it'll give you ore. If your a skinner it gives you leather scraps. And if your a tailor like me, it throws cloth in your face. Every single time.

Regarding the statistics wowhead has for the 34%, 33% & 33%, that would make totally sense if you haven't got any of the proffesions listed above.

It's a lovely bonus to your proffesion instead of having things thrown at you that YOU can't use for anything in particular. And if you saved it, it would stack up quite slowly etc etc. I love the fact it's cloth each time. Good job blizzard <3

What these contain has no bearing on what your professions are. I'm a huge fisher, and although you can get these from fishing open water, they have a pretty low chance on cast. Normally you can expect to get 2 of these an hour in open water fishing.

I've been openwater fishing at valiance keep for about.. 45 skill points, started at 330 with a lure and am now 375 sooo (45*13 fish) later , i got one. thats about.. what, 1/600 chance?

REally low, so dont farm this in open water or the world will freeze over long before you get to #5

Caught four of these in about 15 minutes of casting in pools, so I think you have a much better chance of catching them in pools.

I've gotten a lot of these in my attempts to fish up the Dark Herring. I find that you *can* get them in open water, however; they drop more often when fished from pools.

Honestly I'd generally rather have the fish.

I wish they would put something more valuable in these crates. A low drop rate would be good. Anything but the same old 3 things every time.

These can be opened while fishing, without interrupting the cast.

I just did an hour of fishing in Howling fjord, getting fangtooth herrings and they drop quite often. Go farming fangtooth herring schools if you want to farm these.
Dropped 6 colbat ores out of my 4 boxes, 3 borean leather scraps and 2 frostweave cloth.

For leather workers,This is probably one of the best ways to get borean leather scraps, they are hard to get in general.
