This is quite the druid trinket. Since we have a 1.0 attack speed in cat form, each point of weapon damage adds a straight 1 DPS. 14 AP = 1 DPS, meaning that this effectively has a whopping 98 AP, not to mention the use.

Great trinket for all melee classes though, obviously.

Exodus is refering to the weapon damage, and as far as we've seen in the past it's worked with a feral druid in the past.

+weapon damage has always worked in druid feral forms as long as it wasn't a weapon enchant (like striking). The Cenarion Circle ring worked, the ring enchants work. Even Tiger's Fury buff works on the same mechanic. So it will very much work in feral forms.
However, it is not exactly the same as +98AP. A true +98AP (from str or straight AP) would increase damage done by all special attacks. +7 weapon damage will only cause attacks based on weapon damage to scale (mangle, shred, ravage, shred). It won't cause extra damage to any of our special attacks that use a purely AP formula like rip or bite. Still +7 weapon damage is still nothing to sneer at.

If the cooldown on this is actually 1 minute (instead of the standard 2 minutes for similar Trinkets) then this thing is frickin' IMBA.

OK I tried to pin down how much DPS this trinket would add for a 41/20/0 mutilate rogue (like my char) in a long fight. My char has a 1.8 MH, a 1.5 OH.

With SnD running, my weapon speeds become 1.39 and 1.15. The trinket therefore adds 5.04 DPS to my MH and 4.57 to my OH if I have 0% crit (assuming the +7 is affected by the 0.75% OH penalty I have after taking DWS). The +7 is doubled on crits, so assuming 25% crit the DPS added to white attacks is:

White damage added

Average damage added to MH swings /w 25% crit: (7*0.75)+(14*0.25) = 8.75
Average damage added to OH swings /w 25% crit: (5.25*0.75)+(12.1*0.25) = 6.97

DPS added to MH with 1.8 weapon +SnD: 6.29
DPS added to OH with 1.5 weapon +SnD: 6.06

Mutilate damage added

The trinket also adds to my mutilate damage like so:

MH non crit: +7
OH non-crit: +5.25
MH crit /w lethality: +16.1
OH crit /w lethality: +12.1

Average damage added to MH mutilate /w 25% crit: (7*0.75)+(16.1*0.25) = 9.25
Average damage added to OH mutilate /w 25% crit: (5.25*0.75)+(12.1*0.25) = 6.94

Adding these to get the average amount of damage added to mutilate gives 16.19. Assuming you mutilate to the max (every 6 seconds) and never use finishing moves (lol) the trinket adds 2.7 DPS to mutilate - obviously this number is artificially high since you mutilate less often than once every 6 seconds but I cba to work that out.

Adding the mut and white damage numbers:

6.29+6.06+"2.7" = a bit less than 15.05 DPS for the +7 damage part with my daggers and 25% crit

The "on use" portion gives 216AP for 10 seconds on a one minute cooldown. Spamming it whenever it's up is an average of 36AP, although you can "time it right" and let your energy fill up before clicking it to get maximum use out of this (the fast CD makes this trinket ideal for battlegroups btw). I dunno how to work out how much DPS 36AP would give to a rogue with my gear/spec, but I assume it's like 1-3ish making the grand total DPS about 16, with a margin of error of about no more than +/-4 (assuming you remember to click it once a minute!).

Is this any good compared to other trinkets?

I got out the bleedo spreadsheet and unequiped my trinkets, then put other trinkets there and recorded how much my DPS went up. Here's the results (don't have romulo's, my spreadsheet is a little old)

Abacus of Violent Odds: +21.5 DPS
Bladefists Breadth: 15.1
Hourglass of the Unraveller: 19.6
Bloodlust Brooch: 23.8

(I'm trusting the people who made the spreadsheet to be right. I have roughly half and half Kara gear and blues btw)

Therefore, it is only a very mild upgrade over Bladefist's Breadth for my gear/spec, and is beaten by the easy to get abacus and hourglass.

The trinket is worse than I calculated for sword/fist/mace rogues, since 1) your MH is slower and 2) you SS for 40 energy while I mutilate twice for 60 energy (although my OH suffers a penalty...). I'm not sure if this trinket is best for 41/20/0 or for 15/41/5 daggers (since for this spec you will usually use a very fast OH, and you will have more crits), but it may be a moot point if it sucks as much as my maths suggests.

Druids, you do not get more benefit from this than do dagger rogues. 1.0 attack speed is not as fast as a dagger rogue with SnD running, although if you have crappy trinkets it may still be an upgrade. Arms warriors and retadins, stay waaaaaay clear.

As a Hunter, how does this compare to Bladefist's Breadth? How much difference does +7 Weapon Damage make to our overall DPS? CT has a 1 min cooldown and gives 216 AP but it's effect only lasts 10 seconds while BB has a 1.5 min cooldown and gives 200 AP but it's effect lasts 15 seconds. I'm not sure if that's a significant difference or not. So maybe the real question is this: Is 23 crit worth trading for +7 Weapon Damage? Is one better than the other for PvP or raiding or grinding?

With it's short cooldown and straight + melee damage, it's pretty suited for a feral druid.

I've got it linked to my finishing moves for an extra little kick. It's almost always up in PvP.

Just to make sure, can the "on use" function be done while in Cat form? Or would I need to shift out of Cat form, activate trinket, shift back into form, wait till I'm full of Energy and then attack.

In which case the 10 sec buff is only going to be good for roughly 6 secs...

One way of thinking about it as a hunter when trying to decide between this and Bladefist's Breadth is if we take the use effect to be roughly similar we can compare them as scopes:

would you rather have:

Sniper Scope

or

Stabilized Eternium Scope

I would suggest that hunters look elsewhere.

Awesome Hunter trinket. Been looking at my other trinkets, and I'd definitely take this over Bladefist's any day.

Think about it. It adds 7 to every singleshot you make, which equals a flat +7 DPS increase. Now, 1 DPS = 14 AP at level 70, in other words this trinket adds:

7*14 AP = 98 AP

So the crystalforged trinket actually equals 98 AP. This is +26 more base AP than Bloodlust Brooch!

Furthermore, it has an on use effect that adds a high +AP ( Compared to Core of Ar'kelos and Bladefist's Breadth ) over a short period. This makes it extremely good for most trash raid pulls, since they rarely last more than 30 seconds anyways, and the low cooldown means you can spam it almost every single pull.

On bosses, though, I'd definitely grab Bloodlust Brooch/Bladefist's Breadth, but if you're looking for flat DPS, This > Bladefist's.

For hunters, ranged weapon damage bonuses, such as scopes and this trinket, apply only to Auto Shot, Multishot, Aimed Shot, Silencing Shot, and Scatter Shot. They do not apply to Steady Shot, Arcane Shot, Serpent Sting, or Wyvern Sting. They do apply to melee auto attack and Raptor Strike.

So, for a hunter weaving a Steady Shot and Autoshot every two seconds, the +7 weapon damage adds a flat 3.5 DPS before armor. Not great.

The activated use, on the other hand, is nice for solo farming and group/raid instance trash, because it adds a lot of attack power and has a short cooldown.

As of 3.3.3 this now has a lvl 70 req. Twinks can no longer use it :(
