The buff is Guiding Hand (242622).

The absorb shield that is applied if the target falls below 35% HP is Fruitful Machinations (242623).

The effectiveness of the use is halved for non-healer specializations. The hot can crit, is affected by haste and versatility as well as healing taken increases (such as guardian druid mastery).

Multiple players can use the trinket on the same target, however you can't use both charges on the same person.

The Deceiver's Grand Design looks like a very solid choice in situations that require high single-target healing.

Upon starting a boss fight any players with Guiding Hand on them lose the buff and you start the encounter with 2 stacks to use.

I am not a macro wizard, but I wrote the following mouseover macro to try to use the trinket each time I cast Cenarion Ward (and Ironbark), which I nearly always use on tanks:

For those of you running M+ with this trinket, you can use both charges before the keystone is inserted, and gain two new charges once the key starts with the old ones persisting.

Particularly nice for dungeons with rough starts like Maw or DHT, as you can have potentially 4 buffs running at once

Although the healing provided is halved for non-healing specs, this trinket may still be of some use to tanks. In practical testing, a 910 Deceiver's Grand Design (with the buff kept up constantly, never triggering the shield) produces almost exactly the same healing as a 900 Recompiled Guardian Module to a tank. The exact comparison will vary depending on your haste and versatility as well as the ilvl of the trinkets.

It's debatable how useful the relatively minor healing that both trinkets provide actually is in most situations. But if I were to choose between the two, I would prefer the Deceiver's Grand Design for the shield that procs at a time when it's most likely to be useful.

If you're a player that enjoys soloing instances, it's definitely a useful trinket to keep around.

Some notes for restoration druids:

The buff neither contributes to, nor benefits from, our Mastery: Harmony.
It's not extended by Flourish.
It's not extended by Edraith, Bonds of Aglaya.
It doesn't tick faster when using Essence of G'Hanir.

However it does seem to be affected by most general things. It ticks faster with haste, does more healing with versatility, and is boosted by the Velen's Future Sight trinket.

For raids with multiple Grand Designs, are all applications of the trinket consumed at the same time? I've been trying to keep an eye on it to see if our other healer's charge is being consumed or lingering behind, but I'm still not sure.

As a Discipline Priest when doing PvP world quests, this can really save your butt when you get jumped on, this plus your shields can make you very hard to kill. There was a Rogue running round ganking people in the Bearback Brawl quest yesterday that just gave up after trying to stun-lock me a few times, lol.

My favorite trinket I've ever had on my mage. (healer gave it to me in a LFR group). Helpful for questing, pvp, it even makes saving Valithria in ICC super easy. Wonderful item!
