If at first glance this may reminds an updated version of Ancient Pandaren Mining Pick, it is closer in his utility to Forager's Gloves, allowing a quicker gathering of resources, altough in this item the benefit is limited to mining (what do you expect, to grab herbs around with a mining pick, uh?) :)

Since this seems to be a page more devoted to peon phrases thanks to the flavor text, here is some peon info straight from wowwiki for those who never fought in the second or third wars.

The peons are voiced by Bill Roper in Warcraft I, II, III, and World of Warcraft.

In Warcraft: Orcs & Humans they use the default orc voice. In Warcraft II, like most of the units, they got their own phrases. In Warcraft III they had different phrases. In World of Warcraft they use the same voice file as the peons from Warcraft III. They can be found in the Valley of Trials in Durotar, in a mine directly west of Ratchet in the Barrens, at the abandoned guard post west of the Crossroads, in a small hut west of Camp Taurajo, and at Thrallmar and Spinebreaker Post in Outland. The Dragonmaw Peons that feature heavily around Netherwing Ledge also share this voice.

Found in Spires of Arakk (40.5 , 55) on a mountain east of the Admiral Taylor's Garrison. I was able to see it on the map using Scavenger's Eyepiece

Found in Spires of Arakk (40.5 , 55) zone, the object you are looking for is called an Abandoned Mining Pick.

The object requires you to be level 96 to interact with it, and is located beside two stones along a mountainside between Admiral Taylor's Outpost and Southport.

If you're having trouble finding it, once you have the choice of creating a Smuggler's Den at the Southport Outpost, you can summon a rare merchant every 10 minutes that may sell you a Scavenger's Eyepiece, which will show a location on your mini-map of where any nearby rare treasures are.

The object contains a Peon's Mining Pick, which reduces cast time of mining in Draenor. A must have for miners in Draenor.

In the current build it does not have a +10 Mining modifier like a standard Mining Pick, so keeping your standard pick until Mining is at 700 is recommended.

Seems this was hotfixed, it now reduces the cast time from 3 to 2 seconds on my non-Miner Druid in the Garrison Mine!

changed: As of 6.1, Preserved Mining Pick will provide a benefit even if you already have this Pick in your inventory. It seems both benefits stack additively, the mining time is one second or less.

After a couple of tests it seems that the speed up is from 3.0 seconds, to 2.2 seconds. A speedup of 0.8 seconds :)

Exact location 40.61, 55.06. Best location to climb up to the pick is using 40.57, 57.25. Go past the alliance laborers, and climb up and turn 180 degrees and up some more.

I believe the rare blue version of this item will decrease your mining to 2.2 seconds, but if you get it to upgrade to epic purple level it decreases your speed to 2.0 seconds. I have it on my main, who is a miner, but only the blue version and his mining speed is 2.2s now. One of my alts who is not a miner received it as an epic and can mine in his garrison mine at 2s.

Preserved Mining Pick gives a 10 minute Preserved Mining Pick buff and brings the cast time for mining down form 3.0 sec, to 1.5 seconds.
Peon's Mining Pick, obtained from Abandoned Mining Pick, brings the cast time for mining down form 3.0 sec, to 1.5 seconds (while in your bags and not the bank).

Preserved Mining Pick and Peon's Mining Pick will STACK => cast time down from 3 sec. to .2 sec.

Miner's Coffee and Preserved Mining Pick drop from Mine Carts in your Lunarfall Excavation / Frostwall Mines Level 2 or Lunarfall Excavation / Frostwall Mines Level 3 with a follower assigned and working. Each Mine Cart randomly contains only one of them. You will never get both items nor will you ever get more than one of either. There is one Mine Cart in each wing (along with 4/5 nodes):
1. Central Entrance Area (with stairway Lunarfall Excavation / Frostwall Mines Level 1 has 4 nodes plus occasionally one extra.),
2. Left Mine Shaft (Lunarfall Excavation / Frostwall Mines Level 1 has 4 nodes),
3. Right Mine Shaft (Lunarfall Excavation / Frostwall Mines Level 2 has 4 nodes),
4. Central Mine Shaft (Lunarfall Excavation / Frostwall Mines Level 3 has 5 nodes).
So, the Lunarfall Excavation / Frostwall Mines Level 2 has 3 Mine Carts (12 nodes) and, the Lunarfall Excavation / Frostwall Mines Level 3 has 4 Mine Carts (17 nodes). It is always random and some days you will get 4xMiner's Coffee and others you will get at least one Preserved Mining Pick. Since the patch 6.1, the buff time on Miner's Coffee is now 3 minutes (down from 10 minutes and will not last throughout), along with the fact that it is a stackable buff => it is 3 times more likely to be contained in the Mine Carts than the Preserved Mining Pick

Miner's Coffee and Preserved Mining Pick are to help reduce your daily stay in the mine:

Miner's Coffee has a sell price and stacks to 20. It's buff Miner's Coffee adds 20% to your run speed while in the mine, and stacks up to 5 times for a total of an additional 100%. The Miner's Coffee buff lasts 3 minutes (not long enough to finish your mining).

Preserved Mining Pick has a sell price and stacks to 20. It's buff Preserved Mining Pick reduces your cast time (channeling) while mining a node to 1.5 seconds (down from 3 seconds).
The Preserved Mining Pick and Peon's Mining Pick now stack (as of 6.1) and reduce your channeling time to a negligent .2 seconds ... basically immediate. The time for (SHFT+Click) auto-looting takes much longer than the mining itself.

It really bothers me that I am mining in my garrison each day on six different characters, and all of them deleted the Peon's Mining Pick, because at the time it was not useful as it didn't stack with the preserved mining pick buff. I've submitted an in-game suggestion that the Peon's Mining Pick should respawn in the original location for those who have deleted theirs.

LE: I found out recently that the item re-spawned for my paladin, even tho i had already disenchanted it at the start of this expansion (and i didn't submit any ticket), so i suggest you get your chars to Spires of Arak and check this out, maybe you'll have a pleasant surprise :).

Steps to getting the Peon's Mining Pick restored on your character if you have deleted it, AND it doesn't show up on the website's Item Restoration list.

1) Click the Customer Support button in-game.
2) Click the last button on the left, Open a Ticket.
3) Choose From A List of Topics tab. Make a selection, In-game issue
4) Next drop-down box, Make a selection, Restoration
5) Next drop-down box, Make a selection, Other restoration

6) Click Continue, then scroll down on the next screen and click Submit a Ticket
7) Type in a message to submit a ticket. This is what I used:

I didn't see anybody giving specific instructions on getting this so I figured I would add it in case anyone needs the info (it's really pretty simple. It's in a little crevasse between two steep hill peaks (steep but not very tall) just off the north/south road between Axefall and Southport at coords 40 , 55. I made a short video of the trip from Axefall (and at the turn off point of the road I did a quick zoom of the entrance to Southport for Alliance reference). As I said, very easy to find but if you're having trouble, this will take you right to it.

How to find the pick of the peon to speed ore minor crop , you are not forced to wear it on you just in your bag is a handy tool .

You will find it in the arrow land on arak ore for the Alliance and the Horde .

Just figured I'd add my two cents on one of the reason's I've found that causes this to bug out, at least for me. Past few days I've been camping a few toons out in Nax farming the trash for the toy and I've noticed that those toons every time I hearth to the garrison to do my daily chores on them, their pick axes weren't working. So, leads me to believe if you go from outside of WoD on a camp to WoD, it occurs. Not saying it doesn't happen on toons that do nothing but stay in your garrison because I've had that happen too.

As many have said, vendoring it and buying it back works, but a lot of the time you've probably already wasted a Preserved Mining Pick. You can use Jeeves or a Guild Herald right in side your mine to vendor/buy back and keep the stack. If you don't have them, you can go right at the very edge of your mine and mount a vendor mount and should be able to keep it still. Though I'd recommend just going and buying a Guild Herald to be safe. :o

This item does NOT apply to your mining speed when left in Bank. It has to be in your inventory to speed up your mining. When doubled with Preserved Mining Pick, you mine the nodes in your Garrison Mine near-instantly.

Can confirm - with over a year after looting this and deleting it on the three characters that i had leveled before it was patched, i was able to have it restored on all three characters.

So i managed to sell / delete both Gorepetal's Gentle Grasp and Peon's Mining Pick before patch 6.1 was released, since neither of them gave perks for non herb- and miners untill then.

Neither of them were listed on the Item Restoration page, so i had to open a ticket.
Submited a ticket today, and received both items in mail after 5 minutes.

If you accidentally destroyed one of them in the past and you're not able to locate it on the item Restoration page, go ahead submit a ticket! :)

This item often ceases functioning for me. The only way I've found to fix it is to vendor and buy it back from the Buyback tab. It turns out it's related to server restarts. Initially I could not determine the cause as my server was having frequent restarts however now that problem has settled down I can say without a doubt every single Tuesday I have to vendor/buyback. This happens only on 2 of my 8 characters

As of patch 7.0, this axe is not part of the wardrobe interface. I don't know if this is intended or not but there are at least 2 reasons not to vendor this item in case it gets added to the wardrobe later.

As of today, after patch 7.2, the mining pick seems to no longer work for my warlock without mining, when mining in my garrison. Before today, this pick plus the preserved pick buff you get from mining carts, would let me mine near instantly. Now, without the buff my mining speed seems to be its normal slow self (two full swings per node), and the preserved pick buff only boosts mining speed slightly.

Please note this post was made during BFA (8.1.0). They have since made it so you can buy them off of Timothy Leens and Gorsol if you have already obtained it.

Just in case anyone is concerned about getting this replaced in BFA; if you got rid of it along time ago. It appears Blizz will still replace it for you as they can see you completed the "quest".

See there's some troubles trying to find the ol' mining pick here for .

The pick looks to've been gotten rid of a loooong time ago. Orange and Purps have a few months, Blues and Greens get a few weeks, the rest get a few days. After that it'll end up being purged from the database to make room for all the rest of the info that the system keeps track of like chat, items gained, deleted, kills and all that stuff. So definitely not going to find it in the restoration page.

I did see they had completed the quest at some point, so got the go ahead to send it on back. Just drop by the nearest mailbox whenever there's a chance. Take it easy and have a good one in the meanwhile out there! ("\(^.^) /wave

However, I wouldn't toss it to save a slot and hope it will restored at a later date. You never know when they might stop restoring them.

Reading some of the comments regarding how it is currently working, as of Path 9.0.2 I retested the pick in the Garrison mine on a Druid non miner character.

Mine ore node in Garrison mine;

No Peon's Mining Pick in inventory with no Preserved Mining Pick buff = 3.0 secs
Peon's Mining Pick in inventory with no Preserved Mining Pick buff = 1.5 secs
Peon's Mining Pick in inventory plus Preserved Mining Pick buff = 0.2 secs

This appears to show it is working as intended now from previously recorded times.

As of Patch 9.0.2 the Peon's Mining Pick is now sold by the garrison mining <Works Order> NPC. For Alliance that is Timothy Leens at the Lunarfall Excavation mine entrance. At level 47 it costs 76g 23s 82c.

Need to select All classes in the vendor window drop down menu in order to view it if not a class that can wield axes.

Not sure if it is available at the Lunarfall Excavation mine lower than Level 3. It may well also be required that the player had already discovered the item originally (thanks for pointing this out Nazgul99) and is provided as a replacement etc. I was not able to test this myself.

This does NOT stack with the Highmountain Tauren racial Pride of Ironhorn. The cast time is 1.7s both with and without the Peon's Mining Pick.

With the profession changes made in Dragonflight, Peon's Mining Pick has been reclassified from a one-hand axe to the new mining tool designation and can no longer be equipped on the paper doll.

Fun fact: On my death knight alt, I had put a rune enchant on it during Warlords of Draenor and it's still on the item despite the changes made. :)

Peon's Mining Pick allows you to mine the nodes faster regardless of whether your toon has Mining as a profession if you keep it in your bag. On a toon that doesn't have Mining, adding Peon's Mining Pick to my bag reduced the cast time per node from 3.3 seconds down to 1.6 seconds.

If you have already picked up the treasure previously then you'll be able to buy it from an NPC just outside the mine entrance Timothy Leens (A) / Gorsol (H)

Note: Yes, this pick can be equipped as a profession tool if the toon has Mining, however I noticed a bug. Sometimes when it's in your profession tool slot, the mining speed bonus won't work. If you move the pick to your bag and then put it back in the profession tool slot, you'll benefit from the bonus. Might be better to simply leave it in your bag.

You can easily gather a large amount of ore if you have multiple alts with a mine built in their Garrison. Just send your alts into their Garrison mines on a regular basis to gather ore from nodes & Mine Carts. Toons that don't have Mining as a profession WILL be able to gather the ore; they just won't see the nodes on the mini-map until they are inside the mine. Work Orders (which produce both Blackrock Ore and True Iron Ore) cost Draenic Stone x 5 each; you will gather that stone during the process of gathering the ore.

Benefits of Garrison mines with a higher rank:

More & better quality mining nodes
More Work Orders can be submitted
Fewer enemy mobs to kill
You can use the Architect Table to assign a Garrison follower Lantresor of the Blade to your mine, which will boost work order production

Lunarfall Excavation / Frostwall Mines Level 3

If any of these land in your bag, use them to speed up the Garrison mining process. (They only work in the Garrison mine):
