Ember Curse - Cursed enemies emit Shadowflame around their location periodically. Each blast inflicts a stack of Wicker Man's Shadow.

Cursed Hot Head - Cursed enemies suffer dark hallucinations manifesting in front of their location. Moving to the hallucination dispels it. Ignoring the hallucination inflicts two stacks of Wicker Man's Shadow on the enemy.

Shadow Curse - Insidious Cackle shackles the souls of cursed enemies in fear. The shackled soul slowly moves towards consuming flames. Souls that reach the flames before their shackles are destroyed inflict two stacks of Wicker Man's Shadow on the afflicted enemy.

Thorny Surprise - Piercing thorns erupt under cursed enemies periodically. Enemies hit by the thorns suffer a stack of Wicker Man's Shadow.

Kickin' With the WickAll four active for Kickin' With the WickpersonalWicker Man's Shadow

Wicker Man's Shadow - The Wicker Men delight in the target's suffering, reducing the target's maximum health by 10% per stack.

Wicker Man's Protection - The Wicker Men have prevented your death, reducing damage taken and restoring your health. Additionally, their curses have been lifted, forfeiting their rewards.

Decree of the Dark Lady is granted to nearby players upon observing an RP event in which Sylvanas watches the burning of the Wickerman outside Undercity and declares it to be a sign of the strength of the Forsaken. It lasts an hour and persists through death.

Greymane's Resolve works in the same way for Alliance players--Genn Greymane watches the burning of the Wickerman outside Stormwind and celebrates the resilience of the Worgen. It lasts an hour and persists through death.

You can acquire 4-6 Tricky Treats from the Dungeon reward, Loot-Filled Pumpkin. This can be run daily. Averaging 5 Tricky Treat in the bag, you can get ~75 in the 15 days that the holiday runs.

You can complete several daily quests, listed below, for about 17 Tricky Treats daily or about 255 for 15 days at max level. There are 10 more Tricky Treats you can get from one-time quests, including the event quests.

You can acquire 0-3 Tricky Treats from Handful of Treats, which is a reward from every single Candy Bucket. The Alliance has 131 Candy Buckets and the Horde has slightly more, so assuming 2 Tricky Treat, you will get around 258 Tricky Treat from looting all the buckets (or +100 more if you get lucky and have 3 in each). The maximum amount of Tricky Treat you can get is 393 as Alliance.

You can convert spare Spooky Supplies into Tricky Treats. You can convert 5 Spooky Supplies daily per character, and Spooky Supplies are Bind on Account, so you can send them to the character that needs the Tricky Treats. Izzy Hollyfizzle, the event coordinator in your Garrison can hook you up.

Exquisite Costume Sets: These are consumable items with 50 charges. On use, they will make you look like a boss for an hour. This appearance persists through death, mounting, and shapeshifting.

Hallowed Wands: Each wand has 5 charges and can be used on a party member. It will turn that party member into an NPC creature for an hour. The buff can be removed by right-clicking on it.

Masks: These are single-use items that put a "paper" mask on your face. This item requires Hallow's End, meaning it will disappear when the holiday is over.

Instant Mount: This item is an on-use mount with no mounting time and infinite charges. It is a flying mount. It is the very best mount in the whole game (unless you are a druid) and requires Hallow's End, meaning it will disappear when the holiday is over.

I couldn't queue for the Horseman at level 83. :(

Comment by 472293

The 2012 event includes a new achievement - tricks and treats of Pandaria. The headless horseman event will probably require level 89 for entry.

Comment by perculia

The guide has now been updated for 2012 :)

Comment by 1021545

Has anyone calculated the total number of possible Tricky Treat per Hallow's End? Just wondering if it was possible to get all of the achievements for Hallowed Be Thy Name and most of the pets/mounts within one Hallow's End even if you don't get lucky with Headless Horseman kills.

Comment by Neutralis

I love this time a year. The Headless Horseman will always be my favorite boss to fight. But why did they have to use the old Scarlet Monastery? They could have used the new one. I think it would have looked alot better with all the fires and such.

EDIT: He now uses the new SM graveyard. So that makes it a whole lot better!

Comment by perculia

Now updated for 2013. Not too many changes but we added a ton of maps for Candy Bucket locations.

Comment by Huennin

You can queue up for the Headless Horseman fight through the Dungeon Finder at level 89.

Comment by 1170767

Any reason why the level requirement was increased to 89 for this boss ? last year it was only 87. I leveled a bunch of alts to 87 not knowing it changed so I'm not happy. Just wondering why the change.

Comment by st4rlighted

The trick or treat bin in Theramore no longer exists-- at least, I couldn't find it when I was there.

Comment by perculia

This guide should be updated for 2014, with details on the new items as well as an additional section describing how many Tricky Treats you need for everything and how many you can get per activity. We'll update when we know more details about the Arthas disguise and pug costumes too.

Edit: Chinese servers have the Arthas costume for 1k treats, which doesn't seem possible with how many treats you can get in 2013. If there's a significantly higher amount of treats dropping in 2014, let us know so we can redo the math.

Edit 2: Updated with disguise prices from the beta, still leaving the LK costume out since it's odd.(##RESPBREAK##)2##DELIM##perculia##DELIM##

Comment by tkoivuma

Beware, tricky treats dissappear when you port into an instance or logout.

Hotfix propably coming soon? or working as intended?

edit---
Seems to stay in bag now.

Comment by Vainio

Has tricky treat been updated for 2014 in the game files? I have collected every handful of treat and got no "drops" of 1, only 2 and 3.

Comment by Oxithius

For people needing the candy bucket in Blasted lands, there is a npc on the border of swamp of sorrows and blasted lands called Zidormi (a keeper of time) (coods 48,7 - ty Nevermoor), which will let you travel back in time to quest/trick or treath, she is atop a small hill next to the the bigger and rightmost dead tree, and that if you can't see her, try dismounting and/or removing any appearance-change buffs (ty Sathorius), cheers ! (When you are done questing you can talk to Zidormi again to go back to the present time - ty Gabunga)

Comment by 1260287

this is my all time FAVORITE event both in WoW and real life...so excited <3 xD

Comment by 892536

What time does this start?

Comment by idiotix

For Horde searching for the Candy Can in old Dreadmaul Hold, you will need to speak an envoy of the Bronze Dragonflight, located on the right hand side of the passageway leading from the Swamp of Sorrows into the Blasted Lands. (On hindsight, perhaps the candies there have expired...?) =)

Comment by GenoHacker

For those that cant find the candy buckets in the blasted lands, go to the entrance of blasted lands, theirs an NPC on the cliff that will take you to the blasted lands that isn't invaded by the iron horde.

Comment by Frailgraphics

Amazing in-depth guide! Will be using it during the festivities to get the most out of it.

Comment by Fayelin

Considering that guards smash you like a bug now, if you are hostile with Goblin cities because of you being a fellow salty Bloodsail Admiral like meself, you're gonna have a hard time. I suggest using an Invisibility potion or belt, running up to them candies, and popping your hardest damage mitigation ability.

As a DK for example, I managed to stay alive for almost 10 seconds with 3 guards on me after switching to Blood spec, popping Bone Shield, Icebound Fortitude and Rune Tap at the same time.

Comment by 1260514

One thing about the Pandarian bucket locations. This Achievement isn't necessary to complete Hallow's End but for the people willing to collect all the buckets: The bucket in Westwind Rest (and probably Eastwind Rest) doesn't spawn unless you do the prequest for this location. You get the quest in Binan (Alliance version and Horde version). It involves speaking to two Pandaren which will then lead to another simple quest. After a short cut scene the base and the bucket spawn.

This information might be interesting to faction changers and lvl 90 boosted players.

Comment by Arrkhal

Already having a Sinister Squashling in your Pet Journal doesn't count towards the Sinister Calling achievement. You have to use the item, not a caged pet, to add one to your pet journal and get credit.

Comment by 1216986

please can some1 tell what ridicoulus number is 1000 Tricky Treat i know its epic but i think 1000 is TOO much and does it requier a Perfect Hollows End to get?pls anwer me :D

Comment by Apoxeh

You dont have every point for the Candy Buckets, there are atleast 5 not listed for Eastern Kingdom, im not sure about the others, might want to look into that.

Comment by 912269

Why horde have 6 buckets on Pandaria and Alliance only 4? Same in Northrend and Kalimdor. Horde is EVER more beneficied for all. With the Wickerman's quest happens the same: if you are on a PvE server, you get marked as PvP to do it, and all the horde goes over you due the statue is INSIDE the horde city, but if you go to Stormwind as horde, you don't get marked due the statue is OUTSIDE Stormwind. All that is unfair... And 100k for the bike when horde gets it free, just 'cause there are more ppl on the horde to vote it. Brilliant Blizzard, brilliant...

Comment by Buhs

Theramore Isle is in ruins and you will not find a Candy Bucket there.

Comment by 1203224

You don't have the candy bucket for deepholm (is there only one?) listed in your maps.

Comment by data261

So for those of you wondering how to get the candy buckets in blasted lands and theramore...there's an npc named zidormi that is located at the entrance to blasted lands and at the beginning of the looong bridge leading to theramore that will take you back/forth in time to the older version of the zone allowing you to access the inns...talk to her again and she can change it back

curious if she's around in other phased areas

funny note - I changed blasted lands to old version...but didn't change it back...then ported to theramore and it had also changed back as well...BUT the map had not changed...so the crater was still there but all the npcs from old theramore were up at their invisible buildings....so the guys from the tower were floating in mid air as if they were in the tower...Jaina was perpetually falling off some invisible cliff every time she moved :P looked pretty damn funny

Comment by malrats

Anyone else feeling like their account is bugged or something?

I'm not seeing anything but masks, and usually just treats in my pumpkins.

I'm running HH on 12 separate 90s each day and in all that time I've only ever gotten the Sinister Slicer on a Paladin. That's it. No other items at all.

Whereas I see a lot of other people talking about having the Slicer and the Hood dropping over and over and over. Really, really makes me cry at my chances of getting the mount...

Comment by 1387503

Thank you for putting the time and effort into this guide, you and it are awesome. One thing I would like to bring to your attention is that Stonetalon Peak is in Stonetalon Mountains not Desolace. Thanks again, you rock!

Comment by 195601

There is no map marker for the Alliance candy bucket in Dragon's Mouth (just FYI!)

Great round-up though :D

Comment by Barleduq

Many of the costumes that get put on you for an hour are morphs that don't affect activities - like the ghost, and the pirate. You can fly and fight and all with those. Some of them you can't do anything, like the wisp. Some you can auto-attack, but not cast spells, and not fly/mount - the geist, ghoul, spider, abomination.

But - at least as an abomination - you can take the Uncrashable from Light's Hope to Fuselight.

Submitting screenshots...

-Barleduq, giggling all to much.

ETA: ok, there's no where to add screenshots on here. Trying to find the page for the Uncrashable.

Comment by Darksylvanas

I'm hoping someday (or year lol) the Magic Broom becomes a permanent mount. That would be really cool :D

Comment by Wellfire

I just experienced that the sweets you collect from this event, disappear when you log out! So watch out!

Comment by Elithe

There's also a Candy Bucket at your garrison!

Not sure about the link but the only fitting entry is here:
http://www.wowhead.com/quests=9.-1003?filter=cr=8;crs=1;crv=60002

Comment by 17682

Just a side note, there are also 3 new pets from pet battles that become available IN your garrison when you buy the spiders decoration. this is the same decoration you need for the new toy as well.

Comment by 846723

If you deactivate your decorations you can talk to the NPC to activate them again, they won't be lost! :)

Comment by TheWiseDwarf

Just to clarify for those wondering: It does not require a level 3 mine. Only a level 3 garrison.

Ok longish post coming up but it explains how you get the 3 new battle pets and 2 new toys from Hallow's End this year as you can not buy them with Tricky treats. (Please note this is for Alliance. The same process would be for the Horde but I do not know what the Horde Daily zone is nor where the Garrison holiday vendor is)

There has been a vendor in your Garrison in front of the fountain since 6.2 launched. Now that Hallow's End is here there is a new NPC next to her offering you 4 daily quests to give you Garrison Holiday Currency. These quests take place on a small section of the Shadowmoon Valley map.

1 of the toys drops from mobs in the new Dreanor Holiday zone where you do the Daily Quests.
Once you have done the daily quests you can return to your garrison and purchase some decorations. What you want to buy 1st is Creepy Crawlers.

Once you click on it in your bag to activate it, it will spawn "creepy crawlers" around the Garrison, these are the 3 new battle pets for this year. You can fight and these and capture them, they are ghostly, transparent and small but move around your garrison and you will find all 3 of them. They are level 25 and are back up by 2 other lvl 25's but they are easy.

In addition to the battle pets, a rare spawn will appear near your mine/herb garden in the form of a spider called Arachnis kill it for a chance of the 2nd toy. He keeps respawning so only need to buy the item once

One additional note is if you just want the pets and not the toy then you can visit someone else's Garrison who already activated the Creepy Crawlers decoration and capture the battle pets.

Enjoy all

You can have multiple Garrison Decoration sets active at the same time.

wow only 35% of profiles have the mount, that's terrible, should be like 100%!

I was lucky to get it two years ago! I hope others get it soon! :)

Comment by Mountaholic

THE MOUNT WILL BE MINE! I am super excited i feel good this year I will get it!

some help for hunters, to help the other people in the group to find and kill "Head of the Horseman".

/tar Head of the Horseman
/script SetRaidTarget("target",8)
/s kill the Head
/petattack
/cast steady Shot (or whatever you prefer for attacking)

Any other toons change /petattack, and /cast steady Shot. To something you can use.
Or only use the first tre.

Comment by Freeozy

You go to Surwich or Nethergarde Keep and cant find the bucket? Now you should head to Zidormi and switch the map. Same for Theramore Bucket Zidormi

Comment by longgood

Not sure if this part of event but there was a rare spider in Garrison with 1mil health dropped bag of spiders he was near mine on Ally side

Comment by AmiYuy

How long do the garrison decorations last? Will I have to earn them again next year? Do they only show up during Hallow's End or can I turn them on and off all year?

Comment by Althiea

There is also a Wickerman and Bonfire for the buff to the left outside the garrison gates.
I'm not sure if it is one of the decorations.

Comment by Althiea

Awersomer!
Thanks heaps for the guide, helped a lot for saving time on where to go

Comment by DoomsdayEx

For all those doing the event with multipul Alts, I have found a easy way to quickly earn completion in the two missions: Let the Fires Come! / Stop the Fires! & Smash the Pumpkin.

Step 1: Get all your alts to the inn closest to where the horseman spawns.
Step 2: Start Let the Fires Come! / Stop the Fires! with all your alts.
Step 3: Complete the mission with one alt. (Note: You may need to do this mission 1 or 2 more times for everyone.)
Step 4: When the horseman is taken down, then quickly cycle through your alts, to collect the pumpkin head.
Step 5: Turn in the missions.

I have found this to be a faster way to clear these missions, though you may need to do Let the Fires Come! / Stop the Fires again, if you do not turn in the missions on all your alts before the pumpkin vanish's. Other wise, this gets things done up all the quicker, leaving more time for the rest of hollow's end.

Enjoy!

Comment by Drahken

I'm just starting to do Hallow's End on my first Alliance toon, and I was wondering what the best way to get from Stormwind to Undercity was? For Horde, there's a zep to Grom'gal, and then a short flight up to SW to extinguish the wickerman. But for allies, it seems like the closest port to UC is freaking Ironforge and that's half the continent. Please tell me there's a closer way.

Comment by Veld

Superb guide! Hugely helpful, many many thanks!
I expect others have noticed - and if this duplicates another post, my appologies in advance - but there is a second Candy Bucket in the Badlands at Dragon's Mouth.
As its required for the Tricks and Treats of the Eastern Kingdoms achievement, its definitely worth including.

Comment by Grimmhilda

Does anyone know if it's possible to disable just the guards' costumes while keeping the rest of the decorations?

Comment by Aralnda

can there be an option to hide pins. like i am not alliance and it would be easier to navigate without some pins lning up on top of one another if they are different factions. Also because it can make planning a tiny bit easier. thank you.

Comment by Suane

Someone should fix the name for the Dalaran coordinates (The Situation in Dalaran) since it won't work if you paste the name as is instead of just Dalaran.

The Situation in Dalaran 37.8, 46.4 The Underbelly
The Situation in Dalaran 48.3, 40.8 The Legerdemain Lounge

Comment by Jagex

It would be good to add that the Pumpkin Bag will also drop during this event from level 50-86 mobs to this guide.

It is a world drop, so it can drop from anywhere where you would encounter these level mobs. (Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms, Outlands, Northrend and even instances/raids)

Just looted one today :)

In 2015, the hour-long costumes you can turn off by removing the buff now allow you to mount. If the animation is missing, they go away while you are mounted, but you retain the buff, and the costume resumes when you dismount.

The minor ones like cat and frog that are intended to prevent you from doing anything for a short while still nerf you, though. A word of caution; I tried aggroing a mob so that the damage would remove the cat costume; it didn't. I couldn't cast, I could only take the mob's attacks or run. I was way above the mob's level, so it didn't matter, but I imagine this could get interesting at neutral buckets on PvP servers.

More on Hallow's End Battle Pets

The decoration kit Creepy Crawlers costs 5 Spooky Supplies (pumpkin icon) from the vendor in your garrison near the fountain.

As soon as you activate the kit you'll see the green battle pet icons all over your garrison. So you can pet battle in the garrison for a change whenever the decoration kit is toggled on.
The spectral pet is always the first enemy pet and is an Undead.
The other pets in the enemy team will be a Beast (like Spider), Aquatic (like Ghostshell Crab) or Flying (likeRoyal Moth). Put together a team accordingly. Take care not to kill the spectral pet when you want to capture it.
New spectral pets seem to respawn quickly in the same spot.

I have been trying to figure out if they are raising the level requirements for the dungeon this year with the new patch bringing characters to level 110 now. I know that this site has not stated any new level requirements and battle.net has no information on the topic, people are guessing right now that you will have to be 110 to do the dungeons. I was just wondering if that was true or not. I personally don't have a character that is 110 yet a couple hundreds but none other than that. I would believe that it would be 110 but the expansion has barely been out for even two months, would that be fair to all players? not every person is going to want to grind like crazy to get to 110 and get better gear for the dungeon if they bump up the level in such a short amount of time. I hope they don't bump it up honestly it would be nice to finally get an edge towards getting that darn mount that keeps eluding a lot of players. In the end if I have to be 110 I will grind for it, just wondering what others were thinking about this, it has been bugging me for a while now.

I have been checking all the loot pages to see if there would be any info about warforging or titanforging with the rings but there is nothing posted.Well I guess I'll find out Tuesday. It would had been pretty awesome if they had included that in the guide.

Comment by Jazdinian

In one place, it says that the ring drops from HH have been raised to 835, but when you mouse over the items later, when they are listed, it shows 810. Would that be that they are regularly 810, and then can possibly be randomly upgraded to 835?

Comment by Eighjan

so we can't run this as a lvl 100 what about people who couldn't to afford the xpac ? To me this is unfair

Comment by kaminarii

So I have run this on 3 characters now, and the only loot I have received is the Loot-Filled Pumpkin yet I have seen 1 person in each dungeon receive an item, and there was no window for need/greed. How is the loot system working with this holiday dungeon this year?

The Shade of the Horseman scales this year! (2016) I fought him at 110, he actually lasted a good few minutes!

Comment by ohmisslady

I was able to queue for Headless Horseman at 109. I didn't check any levels earlier than that but can confirm its possible to do before level 110.

Comment by nexos10

You can queue for headless horseman dungeon at level 109 and still get the daily pumpkin loot drop. Don't have to wait till 110.

Comment by Slammyhagar

Putting out the fires quest doesn't give a tricky treat anymore. By my count that would allow you 11-12 tricky treats a day for sub 100 players. Does that sound right? Asking because I am tight on treats to get the heirloom armor casing and trying to do estimate.

Comment by Merkilan

The Horseman's Sinister Slicer is ilv 835. I just ran this one time at lv 109 and it is 835 in the game. Not sure how useful that is considering we have artifacts, but does help overall ilv if you need it. You have that item number as 600 still, but it has been upgraded.

Comment by Lynkdev

So only lvl 110 are eligible for this fight?

Comment by Judgemund

What level will I need to be to fight him and get loot filled pumpkin drop this year 2017? I've got level 110's but I currently have a paladin who is my only plate wearer at lvl 103, I want to get the helm but I don't think I'll be able to get him to 110 in time due to my busy schedual. Is HH scaled like Direbrew this year?

Comment by HolgerDK

Naxxy is sold by Woim (62.38, 66.46) near Chub, not Chub.

Comment by Tlily28

Does anyone know the average total of candies you can get in between now and the end date?

Comment by 1491791

You can't get the mount with low level toons only level 100 and higher can get the mount lower level toons only get a blue pumpkin reward.

Comment by QuartrDollarKing

I wish the Hallowed Wands and candies had even a single copper sell price so I could get rid of them faster. My bags are stuffed with them after doing all the Candy Buckets and you need to confirm you want to delete all of them one at a time.

Comment by Sarthorius

A word of advice for anyone aiming at farming the Tricky treats, there's a very useful addon called Candy Buckets at Curse, that works just like the well known Handy notes, that puts icons on all maps where you can get them, even if you show whole continents like Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms, Pandaria, and the like.
Use it with Tom tom so you don't have to open the map every time, only after you get to each Bucket.

This is mostly useful for all those out there with tons of alts, instead of running each daily, plus the dungeon (unless you didn't drop the mount yet), just click all Buckets on days you have time for it, and you'll get a ton of treats to buy pretty much everything, some stuff more than once, like the must-have pet Widget the Departed, well know for the fastest fight with Squirt at the Draenor Garrison, when power-leveling Battle pets (even more when she shows up on Battle pet week events). It can be caged, and sold on the AH too, at high prices currently, a good way when/if you level new toons on new servers, and want some gold on them.

Comment by Keldesh

This apparently has not been posted to Wowhead yet, but there's are additional Candy Buckets in Legions (Broken Shore).

The Legerdemain Lounge and A Hero's Welcome (and assuming one in the Sunreaver's Sanctuary section as well) of the "new" Dalaran. These mimic the locations of those in Northrend's Dalaran, but are an additional 2 Candy Buckets for each faction. I did run through Northrend's buckets before going to Broken Shore to make sure these are additional ones.

/way 48.3, 40.8 The Legerdemain Lounge
/way 66.8, 29.6 Sunreaver's Sanctuary (Horde)
/way 41.7, 64.0 A Hero's Welcome (Alliance)

I haven't found any others in Broken Shore, but if I do will post.

It would be great to have coords for Zidormi or a map with her location.

Map and guide list for this year's candy buckets seems to have left out Deepholm? Wasn't there formerly a separate "Cataclysm" tab for the maps?

Imho the funniest Holiday! Anyone remembers the Holiday Specials audio dramas they used to do? Or the map for WCIII?

Comment by 1238903

The best addon that I've found for this event is Daily Global Check, along with its plugin Daily Global Check_Hallow's End. It shows whether you've completed the dailies and dungeon each day, and it also shows all of the locations of all of the candy buckets in addition to showing whether you've completed them or not as well. It's really easy to use.

Additionally, the developers said in 2017 that they changed the possibility of getting The Horseman's Reins for the mount to be in "current content," so it was level 98 and above. That would mean that they might change it to a minimum level of 110 this year in 2018, due to BfA launching. I've tweeted them and will edit with their answer if I can and they give one.

Good luck everyone!

Comment by Winterz

Logging out to restart my game caused all my treats, masks and broom mount to disappear.

To test it i logged out to the character realm and lost them all again.

Comment by Erazhen

It seems that the XP buff from Halloween event doesn't stack up with the one War mode provides. Could be a bug.

Comment by lambd1

Did any content get added for the BfA zones (Kul Tiras or Zandular)? It seems like Drustvar was tailor-made for this holiday. I was betting on some really spectacular holiday related event in Drustvar somewhere. Seems a shame if nothing is done with that zone.

Comment by ak318

It is worth adding in for 2018, the Horseman's Hearthstone toy can be purchased for 150 treats from the toy vendor.

Comment by 1246297

A toy. That's it. Just... A toy. Blizzard seriously couldn't update anything for BFA? Really? I look forward to this event all year long and all they can add in is a single toy? The lack of effort put into things this expansion is really noticeable. Rushed expansion, rushed content.

Comment by ArticSkoll

anyone know if legion or bfa zones have candy buckets too?

Comment by JolietJerry

This guide is comprehensive; however, if I may make a suggestion: please add a note in the Headless Horseman section making it clear that while you can queue for the him at level 23 you do not get the Loot-Filled Pumpkin that can contain the mount until level 100. Prior to level 100 you only get a Loot-Stuffed Pumpkin. Thanks :)

Comment by Lilyoptra

Did a Timewalking dungeon and the Unburdened buff (xp/rep bonus) from the Wickerman bonfire disappeared - happened on every toon.

Comment by Mondoblasto

How do I set the hats of the sisters to show up as being collected?

Comment by Vorishgo

Hallow's End plugin for HandyNotes addon now updated for BfA.
Tomtom integration again works as intended.

Comment by Atremis

I feel like the guide is sorely missing the info that after the events of The Battle for Lordaeron, you need to talk to Zidormi in Tirisfal Glades in order to access the main hub of Hallow's End (The courtyard of Lordaeron) and Brill, where you can quench the Horseman's flames.

Comment by RogerWilcoxx

Actually, the amount of tricky treat required for the meta achievement can be reduced by 150.
You can buy the pumpkin helm and sell it back to vendor. This counts as owning the helm (and contributes to the achievement) and saving 150 treats.
Do note that this method causes you to unable to get the helm appearance (since you've sell the helm back to vendor.)

Comment by aberdonian

Refuge Pointe does not have a bucket any longer.

Comment by SaltyBird

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but you have to speak to Zidormi in Arathi and revert back to old map to get the Hammerfall bucket (probably also applies to Refuge Point as well).

CANDY BUCKET : To add to the comments about candy buckets not being found or not easily available - the candy buckets in Darnassus - if you don't have the flight path or unable to get to island - there is also an NPC by the flight Master to the right of where the Darnassus Portal drops you off at (on the Rock before the ocean) - near the FM there is the NPS ask to be shown previous appearance of Darnassus and then you will have the flight path for the Village on Darnassus available.

Comment by TinyPhreak

The chart for achievements earned by wowhead profiles is only showing the Alliance versions. I have all of them except one, but that chart makes it look like I'm missing a lot of them.

Comment by Wylyth

I wonder when are they gonna bring Hallow's End and Pilgrim's Bounty into the present day, since the Horde version is still being held in Ruins Of Lordaeron, despite it in the present day being uninhabitable. And the fact that the former would still have you celebrating Sylvanas despite her recent betrayal of the Horde.

I just learned (after much frustration) that the Hallow's Eve vendors outside of Stomwind can only be seen if you are in Warmode (something I never do). Is this a bug or a feature? Either way, you'd think they'd mention it in this guide, or at least in the news article when the holiday began. I can't be the only one who was confused and lost.

Comment by Kuja

Do you also get candy from some of opposing faction's candy buckets? I saw a horde visit alliance's buckets, so just wondering.

Comment by ivano42

Garrison quests require level 100 and a level 3 Garrison.

Comment by thlayliroo

Your garrison needs to be level 3 for Orukan (the daily quest giver) and the garrison candy bucket to appear for you. You also need to be at least level 100, according to other comments I've seen.

Also, you cannot use someone else's garrison. You can see her and the candy bucket in other people's level 3 garrisons, but you won't be able to interact with them, even if you have them unlocked in your own garrison. Other comments I've seen have made it sound like you can, but I just tested with two 109+ toons with level 3 garrisons and it does not work.

Comment by irishlord

there was a bucket in the BFA capital city after it was over and the candy and green candy didnt vanish once in my bag.

Comment by CornDog

I was unsatisfied with the clarity of the instructions on the Alemental Costume others have posted, so I am adding my own.

Hallow's End is arguably one of the most important holidays to do on every toon.

You can only set up a toon with access to the Alemental costume once per year, during Hallow's End. Once you set it up, its available year-round.

Mysterious Brew

How to get the Alemental costume:

1. Be at least level 100.
2. Get a level 3 WoD garrison on the toon.
3. The Hallow's End holiday must be active. (October).
4. Talk to Orukan in your level 3 garrison and grab the dailies. Orukan
5. Complete the dailies to earn 5x Spooky Supplies
6. Talk to vendor Izzy Hollyfizzle in your level 3 garrison Izzy Hollyfizzle
7. Buy the Witch's Brew (garrison decoration) for 5x Spooky Supplies. Witch's Brew
8. Right-click on the Witch's Brew to apply it to your level 3 garrison.
9. Brew-Witch Shadowpaw will spawn in your level 3 garrison. Brew-Witch Shadowpaw She is at 47,54 in the Horde garrison and 43,46 in the Alliance garrison.
10. Next to Shadowpaw is a cauldron of brew.

Now the rules get strange.

11. If you hover your cursor over the cauldron, your cursor will turn into a gear. Click it and you will get an item called Mysterious Brew. This Brew is like the Hallowed Wands. You can use it to change anyone into an Alemental for 5 minutes. It can be yourself, a party or raid member, someone of your faction that you are not grouped with at all. It cannot be used on NPCs. The Brew has 5 charges and is unique. You cannot carry more than 1. The cauldron is only clickable if you were not carrying a brew when you entered your garrison zone and have not used it in your current visit yet. If the cauldron is not clickable, make sure you delete the brew from your bags, then do a quick zone out / zone in of your garrison and the cauldron will be clickable again.

The garrison decorations can be put on display year-round. So once you add this decoration to your garrison, you can use it 365 days of the year. You can only unlock it during Hallow's End, and it must be unlocked on every toon you have. It is not account-wide.

The coordinates for the Horde candy bucket in Bilgewater Harber, Azshara are correct but the pin is in the wrong location on the map.

Comment by Lilyoptra

Level 8 toon can NOT do the candy buckets...the exclamation point is grey. Who's bright idea was this...

Comment by DTen

Not seeing an bucket in Arathi (9.0.1 prepatch)

Comment by Morbys

Need to update this, there is no longer a candy bucket in the vale of eternal blossoms area, also, the alliance town in kun lai summit can't be accessed unless a certain quest is completed i imagine since the town is on fire with nothing accessible

Comment by atreidespl

It is worth mentioning, that you can get 15 Tricky Treat from BFA mission table Get Spooky

Comment by Taraezor

The Westwind Rest (Alliance) / Eastwind (Horde) in Kun-Lai Summit needs a quest unlock (a few in Binan) so if just flying around, budgeting on an average of two Tricky Treat per location, as we do, then discount this one unless you have quested here.

Comment by entropicdragon

New in 2021 is an Ember Court event "Theotar's Spooky Summons". Speak to Theotar to summon a Vision of Sire Denathrius who will wander around casting Sire Denathrius's Surprise! at your guests. When the court completes the NPC will give you Visions of Sire Denathrius. I'm not sure if there are any prerequisites for him to offer you the item -- I did exercise all the available dialog options to Theotar to dismiss and then re-summon the Vision, and I also asked the Vision to stop scaring and then continue scaring the guests.

Comment by reedwand

Hallow's End takes place after the level and item level squish. Loot and required levels for various activities has changed, including Loot-Filled Pumpkin which is awarded to players level 45 and higher.

On my level 47 toons, I only got the green version of the Loot-filled pumpkin and XP - so I am not sure if this is correct?

Comment by SpakyTwo

If you already have the Headless Horseman's Mount, the dungeon event drops ilvl 184 gear (max level)

COMPLETELY FRICKEN USELESS AGAIN. you can buy better get on the action house for real cheap.

Thanks for another worthless holiday event.

On top of that, I did it on my 55 druid and it dropped a ilvl 117 sword. Druids can't use swords.

Comment by selkiesidhe

Fellow Venthyr, don't forget to hold Court during this event so you can get your very own Denathrius to prowl around and scare your guests!

Comment by Doloria

If the Headless Horseman never drops the The Horseman's Reins, have a look at a flying red spirit horse introduced in Shadowlands - Blanchy's Reins. This isn't the same model as the The Horseman's Reins, but it's outstanding, a flying horse for those looking for one and suitably spooky for Hallow's End.

Collect 6 items Dead Blanchy needs. One item is found in Westfall, one in Ardeanweald and the others in Revendreth. See the great comment by
by varenne.

Provide one item per day, as prompted. There is no "quest" to obtain. Just show up in the Endmire in Revendreth near a dead tree by the stream with quest items (Coords 63.1, 43.1). The same item is required on the same weekday. The days you show up don’t have to be consecutive.
Spam times are random so wait by the river. (You can look for groups in the custom group finder.)

This quest is open to members of all covenants.

Comment by offspinner

The Horseman is dropping item level 236 rings for level 60's in 2022.

Comment by itsmegoomy

I just found this out but apparently you can soulshape out of the "trick" from looting the pumpkin. So if you are night fae, there is that option. :)

Comment by shill

For Shadowlands, I found this to be the most efficient route for Alliance (for all daily quests that reward Tricky Treat):

Take the portal from Stormwind to Exodar. Take the flightpoint to Azure Watch.
Complete "Let the Fires Come!". It's easy to solo here. Just one building is on fire, close to the bucket. Then fight Shade of the Horseman and complete Smash the Pumpkin.
Take the flightpath back to Exodar, then take the portal to Stormwind (near the stairs to the Vault of Lights). Or just hearth if it's off cooldown and go back to Stormwind.
Grab all dailies outside the Stormwind gates. Complete A Time to Gain.
Speak with Gretchen Fenlow to start Stink Bombs Away!. She will take you to Undercity on a broom. Drop all the stink bombs, then LOG OUT OF THE GAME while still flying on the broom (instead of returning to Stormwind). Log back in, then fly over to complete A Time to Lose (speak to Zidormi if you are in the wrong phase).
Hearth to Dalaran (using Dalaran hearthstone from Legion). Take the flightpath to Bradensbrook, Val'sharah (or go through your Class Hall). Complete Under the Crooked Tree.
Use Cloak of Coordination to get back to Stormwind, complete Clean Up in Stormwind and turn in quests!

It's really interesting to read about the various changes throughout the years and how they affect the current game.

To be more specific about the Genn/Sylvanas buff timing: the event is announced roughly on the hour at 4, 8, and 12 o'clock, Pacific Time (on North American servers) regardless of server time. It may be off by a few minutes. The actual event happens 10 minutes later. During that 10 minutes there's no NPCs or change to the area to indicate the event is upcoming, just the initial yell. The event takes less than 2 minutes and the buff is given at the end, but I'd aim to be there early.

As others have noted, you can't get the buff if you have any elixir effects on you, so clear them beforehand. However, my level 53 character didn't get it despite clearing buffs first - the only thing I can think is it was because I had XP turned off? Others around me got it just fine.

Another side note: the event is voiced, but the volume is distance based and pretty limited. Standing on the circular base of a broken monument in the middle of the Undercity courtyard, I could barely hear Sylvanas. Moved a few yards closer and she was normal volume, but still no louder than the Headless Horseman yelling all the way from Brill...

Some observations and thoughts about "the world tour" getting all the candy buckets. Not trying to give a comprehensive guide, just a few thoughts and observations that might be useful. Remembering your general tips and tricks that apply to any travel around the worlds, and plotting a specific route, is up to you.

Big picture:

This takes hours and hours. Recommend you don't try to do 5 characters in one day like I did, which is a do-nothing-else-all-day-and-probably-stay-up-all-night activity.
I hoped to on get over 300 Tricky Treats on the full tour. I don't like the "drop stink bombs" daily (click 25 times with a long delay, boooring), traveling every day for A Time to Break Down, or the travel or group coordination needed for Under the Crooked Tree. Doing the other dailies, single shot quest and the world tour totaled over 450, which is enough for 3 toys or 1 high tier heirloom upgrade. However, saving the world tour for the last day is risky - the amount is random from 2-4 for each bucket, so you could hit below average and end up missing your target! I did fine, and the law of averages is pretty effective when the sample size is over 100, but it's safest to do the world tour early in the holiday so you can adjust your dailies strategy to compensate for bad luck.
If you aren't using anything else like an addon to track progress, the normal achievement tracker is decent at reminding you what you've already done on a character, IF it's the first season that you've done Candy Buckets on that character. If not, doing an entire continent at a time makes it much easier to remember, compared to remembering individual buckets or route segments.
Wowhead's maps are okay for getting a general sense of the routes you might take, but some pins are a bit off, so make sure to look at the ingame map to fine-tune if you aren't using other route addons.
This is without any semblance of measurement and could be way off, but my rough estimate of highest to lowest density of buckets is: Cataclysm zones, EK, Kalimdor, Pandaria, Northrend, Outland.
Strategically rebinding and using your Hearthstone to jump back to different points along your route allows you to follow "branching" paths. An example: Alliance characters come from the north through the single Ashenvale Candy Bucket, set their hearth point at Windshear Hold (Stonetalon). Go south hitting buckets as far as Feathermoon Stronghold, then hearth back to the Hold and go southeast hitting buckets over to the east side of the continent. Saves the trouble of getting back to that part of a continent from the main portals, and lets you stick to more direct lines of travel.

Little stuff:

As with every activity during this holiday, get yourself a Magic Broom! You'll have to re-mount at every bucket after all.
Vashj'ir requires doing the intro sequence before you can portal to it so it may not be worth bothering with. If you do it, don't forget your Vashj'ir Seahorse is account-wide! Or, if you might forget where the entrance is to any of the caves, you may prefer to use the "flight" point to get there, if you have it.
If you get "tricked" into a cursed form, you can't mount or use your Hearthstone for 42 seconds. But you can go through portals, talk to innkeepers, (oddly) use your Dalaran Hearthstone, and most importantly take flight paths. (At least, this was all true as a cat, I assume the others too.) Oh yeah, and you can eat some of that delicious candy you'll be piling up.
You can use a macro to Complete Quest on the candy buckets, and to open the Handful of Treats, which are unique and block quest completion if not opened. It doesn't sound like much to save a few clicks...but try doing 700 of them in a row.
If you're high level, you could turn off Trivial Quest tracking to spot the non-trivial candy quests. If you love trivial tracking or are low level, track innkeepers who are nearly always immediately next to the candy buckets; you will come to recognize the combination of the two nearly-overlapping icons in the minimap upon arrival at any town.

Weird buckets:

In Outland, the Shattrath and east Shadowmoon buckets are Aldor/Scryer pairs. If you're affiliated you have to use the matching one. If you're unaffiliated you can choose either option within each pair (even doing one Aldor and one Scryers, if you like), but you can only do one of the buckets in each pair - once one is chosen, the other stops offering the quest.
Aside from the main continents, don't forget the Deepholm bucket, the two buckets in Legion's Dalaran, the one in your level 3 WoD garrison if you have one, and the one in your BfA faction hub.
Dragonmaw Port (horde) is missing from the Cataclysm achievement, because it's phased out until you complete the intro to Twilight Highlands and put the settlement under Zaela's leadership.
Eastwind Rest (horde) is phased out/on fire if you haven't done the quest for it. It still is required for the Pandaria achievement.
Grookin Hill (horde) IS available even if you haven't done the questline to befriend the Hozen. However, the building with the bucket has some big Hozen right next to and inside it, which will likely need killin'. Since this is normally a Horde settlement, this will PVP flag you and alert LocalDefense, even though they're aligned as Horde just like you! Also, the level 35 Elite guards seemed more resilient than they should be vs my level 47 orc, perhaps because of the PVP thing, so make sure you're not too low level. (You can do the bucket quest while in combat, so if you can survive you can always run away after.)
Stonetalon Peak (alliance) IS available even though it'll be surrounded by tentacles and whatnot. I can't remember if you can clear those out with a quest or if that's some weird holdover from pre-Cata bucket placement.
Deepmist Grotto (both) IS available even if you haven't done the questline. A lonely little bucket in an empty cave.

Hi all! I'm the author of the popular HandyNotes based AddOn HandyNotes - Hallow's End.

It covers every known Candy Bucket, including some which aren't part of an achievement. The coordinates are also much more accurate than those found in lists here at Wowhead. I also have tips and tricks for completing the dailies plus some other quests not in this or other guides but which are specifically Hallow's End quests.

Of note is that the AddOn will tell you if you have ever completed a Candy Bucket, both for the current character and your overall account. Enjoy!

New for 2023 is Arfus in the Headless Horseman's loot list. This guide doesn't currently mention him. Unsure if he's a direct drop, pumpkin drop, or what.

"A new introductory questline will be available. This questline culminates in a new version of the Headless Horseman Dungeon which comes with a hard mode."

Ok, but where ? the guide doesn't mention anything.

Comment by GraysonCarlyle

The link "Hallow's End 2023 Introduction Questline (Story Spoilers)" does not go to the questline guide, but instead to the hard mode datamining news.

Comment by franchy

Despite the tool-tip for this mount Eve's Ghastly Rider stating that it is instant cast during Hallow's End it's not. You cannot move or be falling and cast this mount like Magic Broom. Very disappointing. Hopefully a fix will come out for it soon.

Comment by Mandri0n

What about the new item The Scarlet Key that can drop from Loot-Filled Pumpkin and unlocks the old Scarlet Monastery? :)

Comment by Darkling5499

For anyone wondering, the 2nd set of "Thaldraszus" coords are in Valdrakken, not Thaldraszus proper.

Comment by Sarthorius

What is the 'introdutory' Questline spoken in the link? Clicked it but just got sent to a news post.

Comment by fwcain

The article appears to be missing the BfA locations (Kul Tiras and Zandalar).

Comment by Impirion

There is an incorrect link when you press "Hallow's End 2023 Introduction Questline (Story Spoilers)" which sends you to the hard mode article.

The correct one is: https://www.wowhead.com/news/hallows-end-2023-introduction-questline-story-spoilers-334314#news-post-334314

Comment by AlaskanDruid

Might need to update the guide. GM confirmed Arfus was removed from the game.

It seems the author isn't reading the comments section. Less than 1 week for the event to end, and still they DIDN'T UPDATE THE LINK FOR THE SPECIAL QUESTLINE.

Dragonriding Appearance
This Hallow's End Dragonriding Windborne Velocidrake: Hallow's End Armor has a chance to drop from the Loot-Filled Pumpkin.

Does this have a chance from all Loot-filled Pumpkins or only on the first kill of the day?
There is a rumour milling that it is only the first kill and considering the time it takes to put alts through, I wanted to check for next year for all those invested.

Comment by Norumu

Update: Page has been edited with the correct date range :)

Original Post: The date range highlighted at the top is incorrect for 2024 and is incorrectly populating Google. The date range should be Oct 25 - Nov 8, according to both the in-game calendar and this Wowhead Hallow's End event info page.

Comment by manduz

as horde you have to access old undercity by visiting Zidormi in Trisifal Glades

if you can't find her then you must complete Call to Lordaeron quest line starting from Calia Menethil at Orgrimmar .

Comment by Silmeron

Extremely minor correction: The quest ID for Obsidian Bulwark, The Waking Shores in The Dragon Isles is 77698 (Candy Bucket), not 75698

*I also posted most this in another wowhead page.*

It boggles my mind that the drop rate for arfus and the mount is still so horrible. Especially when it's a limited-time event and players have to try again next year. At least many other extra rare items in the game can be worked on all year, not compressed into 2 weeks.

There are reports of players logging hundreds of attempts over 2 events on the pet and even thousands of attempts over many years/events on the mount.

Good luck also finding the time to do the current and future anniversary events, while also running umpteen alts in there. I would like to have the time to run an alt around collecting candy and some exp, but i'm afraid it's one or he other. 18 alts and the wait times between take a long time. Most alts can't play healer or tank. Normally, i would sneak in a few BRD and TW dungeons on alts. I also would like to see whatever events are coming next week.

I have done it enough to wonder how horrible the mogs and DF mount appearance is to drop.

Wowhead has been the default customer support/news source for a while now, according to blizzard. Maybe it could be a 2-way street?

Why are there people saying Arfus isn't a once a day chance drop?

Comment by Dente

I can confirm yesterday i got Arfus on my 4th run of the day. So I wonder if we can get the mount as well.

HOW TO INSTANTLY TELEPORT TO THE ENEMY CITY ON ANY CHARACTER:
If you do the daily where you bomb the other city, while queued for the horseman, and then accept the dungeon while still flying--> when you return from the dungeon you will now be at the graveyard outside of the enemy city.
Now you are right outside the wickerman of the opposite faction that you need to light for the other daily! cheat code (:

Comment by ChipWhitehouse

Is it just me or are the TomTom coords for the Kun Algaz, The Ringing Deeps, candy buckets way off?

For example, the Camp Murroch bucket says, "The Ringing Deeps 59.45 64.09", but it's "The Ringing Deeps 55.29, 64.10" for me. That might not seem like a big difference on paper but it's quite a ways off in reality... I've tested on a few different buckets in The Ringing Deeps and they're all off?

Comment by snakeeyesma

ugh, why didn't they update tricky treats to be warbound like brewfest tokens? I liked consolidating them, it wasted less at the end.

Comment by Blackheart7

Wait...what? A new mount? The Headless Horseman already has a mount. So now he drops two different versions of the same mount? Wtf.

Comment by coldwinter18

For the quest if you are solo, try doing it in Azure Watch (Exodar).

The moment you start the quest from the Matron, the Headless Horseman sets 3–4 fires on the building across from the water buckets. If you’re quick, you can extinguish them yourself and finish the quest fast.

I did it solo using about 5–7 buckets, and it took me only 30 seconds to a minute.

Special thanks to Pegster from the ATT Discord server for sharing that helpful tip!

Genn and Sylvanas give their speech six times a day. Celestine of the Harvest shouts a warning every four hours on the hour, and about 10 minutes later the speech takes place over about 1 minute. The ten-minute alert times are likely to be at 4, 8, and 12 o'clock in the primary time zone for the region. For example, in any North American server regardless of server time, the cycle is based on Pacific Time, including the shift by 1 real hour when Daylight Savings Time ends to remain at PST clock times of 4/8/12.

Comment by fareso33

It says in the article that you can get Arfus and the new Headless mount only on your first attempt of the day but I got the new Headless and Arfus on my first and second attempt on the first day on two different characters

Comment by Suecore

The guide is incorrect regarding the Shade of the Horseman event. The event is NOT time based on every half hour. This is outdated infomation.

The first player to take the Let the Fires Come! quest, initiates the Shade of the Horseman event!
The Let the Fires Come! quest is only available when there is no active Shade of the Horseman event meaning there are no flames on the buildings.

If a player has taken Let the Fires Come! quest and the event is already underway, the rest of the players can pick up Stop the Fires!.
However the Stop the Fires! quest DOES NOT reward Tricky Treat unlike the Let the Fires Come! quest does!
If you have completed Stop the Fires! , you won't be able to pick up and complete Let the Fires Come! quest and vice versa. So if you want more Tricky Treat tokens, go ONLY for the Let the Fires Come! quest.

If you have failed your Let the Fires Come! quest and the event is over, you can abandon the quest and retake it, to start the event once again.
FYI the Let the Fires Come! quest will not available for players while the Large Jack-o'-Lantern is on the ground.

The coordinates given for The Ringing Deeps candy buckets are not correct, they are off by about 4 points on the X axis. Below are the correct locations:

/way #2214 57.72 46.24 Shadowvein Point
/way #2214 55.28 64.11 Camp Murroch
